Watching sand swirling,
lost, heedlessly fingered,
A smitten hand, stretching -
towards the enchantress, abstract.
Yet not an onus
For why would there be -
Was it not too far to see?
And silently Peril inched
towards unsuspecting toe tips.
But quicksand of silver shimmer
brought the hand where
the toes had been,
Peril scared the enchantress away,
and the fingers clutched at dissipated daydreams.

A/N
Nemesis: late 16th century: Greek, from nemein 'give what is due'.
If it is not clear, the sand represents lost opportunities.
