If the sun stays a bit longer
in the sweltering sky,
or on an average summer day
the heat's a bit too high,
don't worry, nothing alarming
just a little global warming.
If raindrops refuse to come
from the humid, heavy skies,
or scalding heat shows up
under monsoon's guise,
no need at all to widen your eyes
'tis only a disturbed balance's price.
If the leaves shrivel up
before their time to go,
or all the tall standing trees
bow their heads too low,
nothing to grill your heads at all
only climate changes, speeding up the fall.
If cold winds lose their edge
before they touch the ground,
or on a still day, you can't
hear a snowflake's sound,
not a worthy reason to use your grey cells
it's just the greenhouse effect muffling Christmas bells.
If flowers droop down
before they see spring,
or birds choke up and die
before they start to sing,
nothing to think, nothing to despair
a pinch of pollution in the air.
If you see bodies scattered
across remote battlefields,
or people crowding about, terrified
Nature's fury destroying their yields,
Nothing can be done, it is to say
people die every day.
