Chap 1
I walk through the streets of The Hill and just wander around. I walked into the book store, The Shelf. How creative huh?
I swing by here and just simply read. The librarian, Ms. Floyd knows me very well. I've been coming here ever since I can walk and read.
She's my homeschool teacher. The school is about an hour away and I have no way of getting there.
My parents don't care. If it's not about them, then it doesn't matter to them. Luckily, Ms. Floyd has a good heart for education, is smart, and just in general have a good heart.
"Hey sweetie. Where have you been? You haven't came by in a week."
"I was sick. " I lied. My face burns and turns red because of it.
With a knowing mind, she knew I wasn't home sick but she brushed it off her shoulders.
"Oh okay Well I'm going across the street to the barber shop. " She turned around and headed out the store.
I grabbed a book off the shelf and began reading.
Minutes later, the bell rang saying someone's here. I didn't bother to look up. Ms. Floyd probably came back from the mini barber shop.
Someone tapped my shoulder. I looked up at a confused glance.
It was a guy. He has a quiff consist of black. Clean shaven. Big pools of chocolate eyes. He's about 3 inches taller than me. He looks about my age.
"Hi. I'm looking for a architecture book. I've looked at some of the shelves and I can't seem to find it. "
"Umm. Okay. Let me check the back storage. "
I stood up and moved around him and went to the back. I shifted through some boxes and books. Hmm. I went over to a stack of books labeled A.
After looking through I found a architecture book. I dusted it off. It must've been here for a long time. I grabbed it and headed back to the front.
I saw him standing there glancing at the book I am reading.
"Here's a book about architecture. "
He jumped slightly and came over to where I was standing. He smiled. He has really pretty eyes.
"Thanks. "
"You have pretty eyes." I put my hand over my big mouth. I can't believe I just said that. He laughed a little.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to say that. "
"Oh. So you're saying I have ugly eyes?" His eyebrows raised.
"Uh. No. I - You - You do have pretty eyes. Prettier than mine. And I should just stop talking. "
I looked down.
"It's okay. I was just playing with you. And by the way, you don't have pretty eyes. You have beautiful eyes. "
I looked up. He was smiling and scratching the back of his neck. My face was burning. I blushed.
We stood there.
"Um. Let me ring that book up for you. " I walked over to the cashier. I punched in numbers.
"Your total is $9.56. Do you want me to bag it for you? "
"Oh no thanks. I can just carry it like this. " He handed me $10.
I put the $10 in the cash register and handed him back his change.
As I handed him his change, my fingers gently grazed his fingers. Goosebumps suddenly danced around my skin.
I looked up and he was looking at me.
"Well thank you again for the book and the compliment. "
I gave him a confused look. Questioning him on the last part of the sentence he said. As few seconds passed by It came back to me. I blushed .
"Uh. You're welcome. "
He gave me a nod and headed for the door. He looked back and finally walked out.
Man. Was that something.
I walked off behind the counter and walked back over to the table where I was previously at.
The door signaled that someone was here again. I turned back around. Two people in the book store today? This is a record.
"Hey again. I'm sorry but I never got your name. " It was pretty eyes poking his head in from the doorway.
"My name is Na'el. " Responding to his question.
"Hi Na'el. My name is Zayn. It's nice to meet you. "
"Nice to meet you too." I smiled.
He smiled back. "I hope to see you around. Oh, and your name is original. I never heard that name. Its pretty. " He gave me a cheeky grin and then walked away again.
Zayn did that on purpose knowing I was going to blush by his compliment. I shaked my head.
Well Zayn. I hope I see you around too.
