Onyx began to open his eyes, before realizing he was underwater. Taking a look around he began to think. 'No fish? Strange.'
Pushing upward a water chain locks to his ankle. A greenish hand grabs him. 'Malachite.' She begins laughing.
Her image begins to morph into a battlefield. Onyx begins to walk and sees himself poof another gem.
Raising his foot, the other Onyx shatters the gem. Y/N summons his scythe and charges his mirror image.
The copy easily catches his scythe's blade. "Weakness. Emotions make you weak. Attachments make you weak."
The doppelganger kicks Onyx to the ground and turns to what looks to be Lapis. He raises his scythe to slice as Onyx screams.
"NO!" Onyx shoots off the barn loft into the floor, breathing heavily. "What?! What?!" Peridot shouts from the loft as she tries to hide behind a sleepy Lapis.
Grabbing his face, Onyx calms himself. "S-Sorry Peridot. I need to uh-." Onyx walks out of the barn.
Peridot and Lapis look at each other for a moment. "I'll go talk to him." Lapis hops off the loft and catches up with Onyx.
Onyx walks to the closest tree and summons his scythe. Raising it past his face he embeds it deep in the tree with one arm.
"Impressive." Lapis comments and she steps beside him. "Couldn't be farther from the truth." Onyx pulls the scythe from the tree and begins to stare at himself through the blade.
"You wanna talk about your dream?" She places a hand on his shoulder. "No." His brow furrows as he continues to look at himself.
Lapis sighs. "Then let's just get ready for the party." Onyx tilts his head. "Steven's Hallo-something party."
Lapis begins to walk away as Onyx takes another look at himself through the scythe. He sighs and follows the blue gem.
-Timeskip (and yes it's a Halloween party IDC if it's July)-
"Does this hat look alright?" Lapis keeps adjusting the witch's hat on her head. "I've never seen you look bad in anything." Onyx grabs his newly red scythe to match his devil costume.
"THE GREAT PERIDOT HAS BECOME... THE GREAT VAMPERI!" Peridot jumps into view from the barn doors.
Onyx stands up to come to pat Peridot's head. "You look nice Peridot. Let's get going." The three start their walk toward Beach City.
The town is mostly empty, most likely because Steven has invited everyone. "Do we have to talk to a bunch of people?" Lapis rubs her upper arm.
"Not if you don't want to. I'm just here to see Steven and Garnet." The group begins to push past the people on the beach to make their way inside.
"You enjoy talking to the fusion?" Peridot asks. "She's very wise." The Lapis goes to talk to Steven as Onyx heads to the Crystal gems near the warp pad, with Peridot clung onto his leg.
He wiggles Peridot off before approaching Garnet. "Gems." Onyx bows a little.
"Cool costume dude." Amethyst says from beneath the lazily wrapped toilet paper around her. Onyx nods before focusing on Garnet.
"May we speak in private?" Garnet nods and the two gems push outside away from the party.
Slightly smaller, Onyx looks up to the purplish gem while collecting his thoughts. "Sorry for dragging you away from the party."
"It's alright. What did you need?" Garnet adjusts her glasses. "It's... about Jasper. Have you guys seen her?"
Garnet shakes her head. "You don't have to worry about her. We've got it handled." Onyx sighs.
"She and her fusion with Lapis have been plaguing my dreams. I've become too reliant on sleep." He runs a hand down his face.
"And uh, a second thing. I've been trying to... you know, work on myself. If you're free sometime, I'd like to try fusing again."
Garnet's smirk grew to a smile as she chuckled a bit. "Anytime. We'd better get back to the party."
The two eventually lost each other as Onyx attempted to find anyone he knew. "I really don't want to talk to you." Onyx recognized that voice.
Onyx pushed himself through until he saw a snobby-looking teen trying to stop Lapis from walking.
"Hey, Lapis. Who's your friend?" He steps to her side, towering over both of them. "He's not my friend." She attempts to step past him again.
"C'mon baby, let's get out of here. You and me." Onyx immediately gets defensive over Lapis.
Stepping between the two Onyx looks down at him. "How about me and you get out of here?"
"Onyx don't hurt him!" Steven runs to separate the two of them. "I wasn't going to hurt him." Onyx says rather unconvincingly.
"You didn't need to do that." Lapis pulls Onyx's attention. "I can protect myself." She says in a passive-aggressive tone.
Onyx furrows his brow. "I know you can protect yourself. I was only trying to-" He is cut off by the blue gem.
"To protect me? I don't need help with some dirtball human." Her face begins to contort to anger.
Onyx's gaze hardens. "Where is Peridot, Steven?" Steven points to a drink dispenser with a curious Peridot spilling it as she tries to figure it out.
"We'll be at home when you're done being angry." He walks off to collect Peridot. "So what? You're just going to walk away?!"
Onyx leaves swiftly with Peridot on his back. "Are we not waiting for Lazuli?" Onyx sighs and remains quiet.
"Okay... why are we not waiting for Lazuli?" Onyx sighs again. "She got upset." Peridot hmms before thinking.
-Timeskip back to the barn-
Steven and Lapis approach a deep in thought Peridot as she looks on Onyx as he trains, clearly angry.
"How long has he been like that?" Steven questions as Onyx continues. "About an hour." Peridot squints.
Onyx summons two copies of himself before continuing to assault the tree with scythe strikes.
"Hey, Onyx!" Steven shouts out. The extra Onyx's dissipate as Onyx turns. As soon as he sees Lapis his hand ignites in a fire.
He immediately punches the tree. Exhaling he walks calmly to Steven. "Yes, Steven?" He looked down.
"Lapis has something to say to you." Steven turns to Lapis and motions Onyx to her. She nervously rubs her arm.
"Sorry for snapping at you. I-I just, that guy was annoying me and-" Onyx cuts her off. "For this to be an apology, you are making a lot of excuses."
Her nervous frown turned to a normal frown. "But... It's fine. Just know it really hurts when I think you're angry with me."
He bows to Steven before heading toward the barn. "See! Problem solved." Steven gives a thumbs up.
Lapis says to herself "Not exactly." before following Onyx while Peridot and Steven talk to each other.
Stepping in, Lapis sees Onyx sitting, staring at himself through his scythe. Lapis quietly sits beside him.
"You know this scythe was a gift." Lapis turned to look at it. "Blue Diamond gave it to me for crushing a rebellion on one of her colonies."
"That was before... this." He motions to himself. "Close to the time when we met actually." Onyx smiles for a moment.
-Flashback-
"You are to protect my Terraforming team from any indigenous lifeforms." Onyx continued his salute. "Understood, Blue Diamond."
Onyx turned and marched out of the room to meet the terraforming team. "This the extra muscle? Some little Aura Quartz?" A Jasper elbowed the Amethyst next to her.
Almost immediately Onyx's scythe was at the gem's chin. "Let's get something straight. I'm in charge, OK?" Onyx's closed-eye smile lay beyond his blade.
The Jasper pipes up from behind the blade. "Yes!" Onyx places the scythe back into his gem. "Great! We'll get along great. Ship."
The Jasper and Amethyst quickly get into the blue warship. "Well, you seem to have those two handled."
Onyx looks to the Lapis Lazuli next to him. "You must be the terraformer. Aura, Cut-1." He says his name and bows.
The Lapis returns his bow. "Lapis Cut-2XG. Cut-1? Like one of the first gems?" Onyx nods. "Only non-shattered Ruby Aura Quartz."
"We should get going." Lapis and Onyx head into the warship.
