Song of the Chapter: Knightmare/Frame - Area 11
Also, I did a thing ^.^ ((not to scale, at all ;) ))
*cass' pov, then*
It wasn't long before we finished our food. I had sent a few tweets in there too.
Then it was time for the muffin.
I put the massive muffin between Emma and me, laughing at how excited she was. "Are you ready?" I asked, grabbing my fork.
Emma already had hers. "Yeah!" She said.
The band was looking at us like we were crazy. They don't know us very well, to be fair. I sighed and looked over to them.
"Ok, so, what we're gonna do is eat as much muffin as we possibly can. We will stay on our own sides of the muffin - marked off by this frosting, thanks to Julia - and whoever eats the most (you eat until you can't) wins a free soda. Emma and I usually share the soda anyways, but it's still fun. Once, I almost puked," I grinned. They all gave me various looks of 'you're crazy.' "The rules are over there on that picture, if you want to see."
"I think we get it," Kogie said, looking around at his mates. They all nodded.
"Hey, can we record this? It might be fun to put in a video or something," Parv asked. I shrugged.
"That's fine, I guess."
"We'll leave out any information you want us too."
"Ok."
Parv pulled a camera out of a backpack I didn't realise he had. He turned it on, re-situating himself and then nodded. A red light turned on on the outside.
"Cool. Ready?" I asked, turning back to Emma.
"Set?" She replied. We grinned.
"Go!" We both shouted.
I'm sure that this was very amusing to watch. My tactic was to eat slowly and with small bites and not puke, but Emma's was to stuff as much as she possibly could into her mouth and gulp it down.
This time was special, though. Emma and I had an equal amount of wins. This was one of our many tie breakers. We never really reset the score.
"Wow. You guys are really going at it. So hello, friends," Parv started, talking to the camera.
"Today we are with two lovely young ladies, Cassandra - yes, we know - and Emilia. They are doing a challenge at a small bakery/deli in town," Sparks* continued.
Leo took over. "The goal of this challenge is to eat as much muffin as you can without puking. The winner - who eats more than the other person - gets a free soda."
"Keep in mind, these two have just had lunch and a huge mug of cocoa, too," Kogie stated. "And look at them. Emma's already nearly done with the top part! Cassandra looks like she knows what she's doing, though."
I made sure my hand was off camera before giving them all the middle finger. Sparkles* tsked at me.
"Cassandra, that is an obscene gesture and is considered rude in most parts of the world," he scolded.
In response I waved it around in his face. He scowled and batted my hand away.
"It looks like Emma's slowing down. She's halfway through the bottom half of her part of the muffin, though," Parv said.
I picked up the pace a little, chewing faster. I saw Emma sit back, and watched as she took a sip of water. Water always comes with the sandwiches here.
"Taking a break, Hun? You ok?" I asked her, then stuffed more muffin in my mouth. She nodded.
"I'm fine. Just gotta take a sec. My tummy doesn't feel great."
"Ok. Don't drink too much of anything, and sit up straight. It'll help." She nodded and gestured at the muffin.
Right. I'm supposed to be eating.
Soon I was done with the top half of my side. I was starting to feel queasy, and the muffin was starting to taste kinda bleh. So I smiled up at Emma.
"Alright, I'm not feeling the muffin anymore. Well, that's a lie, I feel it in my tummy. You win, Emilia," I winked.
Leo and Parv, who had given the camera to a waitress to hold for him (along with £15) congratulated Emma. Sparkles* and Kogie gave me supportive pats and hugs, acting like I'd just lost a huge fight, when in reality, I'd probably be beating her again in about a week.
The boys pushed us in front of them, in front of the camera. I ran a hand through my hair.
"So, way to go, girls, and grats, Emma. What are you going to do now?" Parv asked, acting like a sports reporter. Emma giggled.
"Get a cream soda!" She squealed, and bolted off to the front of the shop. I shook my head, smiling after her.
"I thought she was going to Disney," he muttered, earning a few laughs.
"I don't even think she knows what that is!" I laughed.
Emma came back cautiously. She was holding a rather large to-go cup with six straws sticking out of specially poked lid-holes. I shook my head.
"Julia! Let me pay you the difference!" I called, attracting the old lady's attention. She waddled over to us. Parv had taken the camera back and was taping the whole thing.
"Cassandra, dear. Now you all can enjoy it! With the amount of my challenges that you have done, that drink has paid for itself three times over."
She patted my head, which was strange because we were the same height. The she bustled away.
"Well, I guess we get a drink then," Sparks* said, and beckoned us back to seated positions.
Emma proudly placed the cup on the table before situating it just so. "There, now our straws are going to the right people."
I had been teaching her how to write basic things, and she now proudly pointed out her skill. She had written in our names in her childish handwriting.
Around the edge of the cup, under each straw was 'SANDY', 'SPARKLS', 'COGEE', 'PARV', 'LEEOH', and 'EMMA'. It was painful to look at, but adorable at the same time.
"Nice job Em," I said, high fiving her. She grinned.
"Thanks."
"Hey, you four," I said startling them. I sort of shook my finger at them.
"No backwash whatsoever, you hear?"
That wiped the terrified looks right off their faces.
"Ok, Cassandra. No worries," Leo said. I nodded, satisfied.
We eventually finished the drink, having good conversation in the meantime.
I looked at the time. Two o'clock.
"Hey Emma, it's about time we head back."
Emma gave me the saddest pout I've ever seen her make. It was almost enough to make me change my mind.
Almost.
"But, Sandy, we're having so much fun," she wined, pouting up at Leo. He sort of held his hands up.
"Don't look at me, kiddo. I don't have any jurisdiction over you two," he protested.
I rolled my eyes. "Emma," I said sternly.
"Sandy," she mocked.
"Get your stuff. We're leaving," I stated, standing up and gathering my stuff together.
I reached for the tray to clear off the table, but Sparkles* beat me to it. He snatched up the tray and took it to the return table, dumping out the trash before placing it on the pile.
"Thanks," I said, when he returned.
I noticed that Leo and Parv had helped Emma into her jacket. I slid into my own, and threw my backpack and guitar over my shoulders.
"Thank you guys so much," I said, grabbing Emma's hand. "We had a lot of fun eating with you today. Thanks," I repeated, then nodded at them.
"It was great getting to know you guys a little. And we should be thanking you for letting us eat with you," Sparks* said, grinning.
I chuckled. "Whatever helps you sleep at night. Goodbye," I said starting to lead Emma off. She looked like she was going to cry. A chorus of goodbyes followed us. Emma turned back and waved.
We left the restaurant. It was quarter after two.
-:-:-:-:-
Alright, so that was interesting.
Also the muffin I drew.
Yay.
I'm at home sick today, and im pretty p.o.ed about it cuz I have stage crew right after school and it's only the third day, so I'm missing important stuff and so I'm just not happy.
Also, puking at 3 in the morning and then 7 in the morning is not fun. Also I didn't get much sleep last night.
So anyways, reaching 1.2k on 'One Shots' is really cool ^.^
And this has over 100 reads already. In the first couple day of it being up.
Honestly, if I didn't have you guys and Area 11, idk where I'd be. :P
So yeah! I'm off to sleep a little more. Just wanted to get this up (finally) for you guys.
Love and a much needed shower,
