"Dad!? What the fuck!??" Julia stared below her in disbelief. She hadn't seen her father in months and then he suddenly showed up, unannounced to her WINDOW? She was barely able to comprehend the situation, much less formulate a sentence, so all that came out was "why?"
"Cmon! Didn't you miss your old man!" Not one bit she thought to yourself
"Go home, Dad" she sighed
"I've come to take you home!" He yelled from below. Julia had almost closed the window by that point but froze at his words. She wanted nothing to do with that abusive asshole of a father, and what left her mouth didn't stray far from her thoughts
"You know what! Fuck you okay! I want nothing. Nothing. To do with you. Go home you drunk!" she had eased up from what she really wanted to say, but still felt a tang of guilt as she continued to close the window
"Juli-" His sentence was cut short as she heard some sort of smack and a thud
"Fuck! I forgot how much that hurt!"
Julia hurriedly opened the window to peak her head out
"Lyle!? What is it with you people and coming to my window!?"
"First of all the fact that me and that dude had the same idea is a bit offending. Second of all I don't like the idea of some perv creeping outside your window"
Julia's heart made a slight flutter at his comment. Maybe he did still care? But then she remembered the situation before her.
"Lyle you fucking idiot! That's my dad!"
"Really?"
"Yes!!"
"Hmm" he raised his eyebrows before delivering a firm kick to Julia's fathers unconscious form
"Jesus Christ! What are you doing?!"
"He deserves it and you know it" Lyle yelled up at her
Julia glanced over at Erik's silhouette, clearly still asleep. Thankfully.
"Can you be any louder?"
"Oo why? Is there someone in your room? A boy?" He gave her a cocky smirk, that quickly left his face as he connected the dots "wait is it your boyfriend, my brother?" he sneered
Julia returned the cocky smirk
"I don't know Lyle. Maybe. But were not even dating. Now what do you want?"
"Noted. And I want to talk" He called up to her
She scoffed, and made sure he heard it
"Oh don't be like that. To be fair I did just knock out this dickhead for you"
"That's still my fucking dad!" she whisper yelled down to him
He shrugged his shoulders "Ehhh tomato, tomato"
"Goodbye Lyle" She said in a sing songy voice and giving him a small wave
"Juls- Juls wait. Come on. We really need to talk. Please." Did she hear his voice break a bit when he said 'please' or was she imagining it?
"I don't think we do Lyle. What done is done" She could hear Lyle take a deep breath before continuing
"Please Juls? I need to explain it to you. Just let me do that. I won't be long I swear but please" Now Julia knew she hadn't imagined Lyles voice breaking. She felt a tinge of guilt in her heart. She owed him nothing... but she felt she was owed and explanation.
"Fine. I'll meet you at the front"
"Wait!" he practically screamed up at her "Just jump! I'll catch you.".
"I swear to god Lyle Joseph Menendez if you drop me i will fuck you up"
"Yeah yeah i'd like to see you try"
She shook her head at the fact that their playful banter had already continued before dropping herself from the window. She was on the second floor but it was only about a 10 foot drop to the grass. Low and behold Lyle did not drop her. After lowering her down he wiped a trail of tears from his eyes. She genuinely felt bad that he had been crying.
"I'm surprised that you fell for that whole 'tears' bit" He said, highlighting the fact that he had faked it all.
"You-you! Goddamn it Lyle" He let out a loud laugh before bringing his hands up to his eyes and pretending to cry again
"Please. Please Juls." He said even more dramatically than before
"I fucking hate you. I hope you know that"
"Love the enthusiasm, Juls" she scoffed
"You've got 5 minutes. Go"
"Hey hey hey. Have a little class. Were not doing this outside the house." He gestured towards his car "After you"
"Fine. 10 minutes. And that includes driving time."
"I only needed 5" that cocky bastard
About 5 minutes later he arrived at the spot he had originally taken her on the night they met
"And you called me unclassy?" she scoffed
"I'm here for the view" he replied "Come on the ocean is beautiful"
"You've got 4 minutes" Juls rolled her eyes after looking at her phone to check
"I just have one question, ok?"
"Fine."
"Why didn't you answer any of my letters" the confusion on Julia's face was painfully evident
"What?" She had no clue what he was talking about. Letters??
"The letters I wrote you. Explaining everything. God Juls, I even learned how fucking stamps worked. For you" Julia felt her eyes swell a bit
"You wr-" she cleared her throat. She wasn't about to breakdown in front of him "You wrote me letters?"
"Yes Juls. I wanted t- I needed you to understand" She swear she heard his voice quiver, this time for real
"Lyle... I didn't get any letters. You should of texted me you dumbass!"
"It was probably my parents or Erik who threw them out before you saw. And Juls. I think you forgot that you blocked me"

"Oh yeah. I didn't even think you cared, you left without saying goodbye!"
"Of course I cared. I still care Julia. I don't think i've ever felt this way about someone. Hell, Julia, I think I lov-"
*ding*
Julia glanced at her phone. She had been completely enchanted by Lyles words, but her mind had strayed and she hadn't heard his last sentence or so.

"I don't know how else to say this Juls" Lyle started again, drawing her attention back. He placed his palm on her cheek, slowly grazing his thumb back and forth "you mean so much to me. More than I think I can even ex-"
"Can we go now" She interrupted, pulling his hand off her cheek and standing up
"Juls" Julia heard his swallow hard as she knew he was now struggling to keep himself together, but she had other things on her mind "Juls come on. Can we just stay here for a bit... for old times sake"
"I mean it Lyle. Take me home"
"Um y- yeah sure"
The ride back to the house was completely silent, the two could practically hear each others breathing
Before Julia got out she felt like she needed to say something, but just didn't know what
"I-"
"Y-"
"Sorry" they both simultaneously apologized
"You go" Julia offered
"Uh- never mind" he shrugged it off
As Julia approached the front door she heard Lyle calling her name
"Julia! Say hi to your boyfriend for me!" Lyle let out a small laugh
Julia held up a middle finger and mouthed the words 'fuck you' as he started to back up, causing them both to laugh
When she entered the house she crept upstairs as to not wake up anyone, but as she entered the room she forgot that Erik would've been there
"Hey! I've been worried. Are you okay?" His face showed genuine concern
"Yeah. I'm okay now. Just really tired"
"Me too" Erik let out a breathy laugh before running his hands over his arms "Jeez it's cold. I'm gonna go close the window"
Julia had almost forgotten about the ordeal with her father
"Uh I got it!" She said a little to quickly
Before she closed the window she glanced out and low and behold, her father was gone
Suddenly a wave of exhaustion hit Julia. There was also a sense of calmness. She knew the moment she got into bed she would crash. But she had to do something before that
