Y/ns prologue/memory pov
I always knew I was different, well ever since I started setting curtains on fire. I and my parents never knew why I had powers. But I did I could control fire but I also have Hydrokine -sis which is control of water. Together we kept it a secret for our safety. But soon prying eyes found out, resulting in their deaths. So that is another difference. I'm an orphan at the age of fourteen but no one knows, I have all of them fooled. I'm a happy child and everyone believes I have a lovely home night, in reality, I go home every night, my depression sinking deeper and I order a pizza or microwave a pasta. It's good my family is quite wealthy or I couldn't be able to do the taxes by forging my father's signature.
But one-day prying eyes noticed me again, but these were better. There's a lake, a few miles south fork I go there most weekends whatever the weather, but this day it was showering down. I get the bus there and then go down to the lake sure. I put my feet in it and the cold surprises me, the rain is no help, it drenched every part of me, sinking through my clothes and dabbing at my body. I used my Hydrokinesis to make the rain not touch me and then I light a small fire in my hands, it warms me and I look over the lake, then a snap of a branch echoes loudly behind me, surprise overcomes me and the fire extinguished in my hands and the rain beated against me once again. I whipped my head around, but no one is in view, it could of an animal is what I thought but I was wrong. Either way, I didn't use my powers, just in case.
Y/ns pov
I groan as I trip when I walk into class, good thing I was caught, I get alarmed as I see an unfamiliar face then realise they are the new teacher, I thank them and take my seat. "So Hello I'm Mr Hudson, your new physics teacher until you get a proper replacement" has said as he fixes his thick glasses which do not look like they are real. He teachers us quite intently, he knows his stuff and then he sets some work and we begin. It seemed normal until I realised his eyes were fixed on me, I grabbed my desk as I calmed myself, my knuckles whiting as I do so. "Miss L/n are you ok," he says his eyes on me. "Can I go to the bathroom??" I ask and he nods. If into the toilets I go in a stall and lock it, I let out a sigh. I'm just being paranoid, it's been a year, "pull yourself together y/n" I tell myself and then I heard a low chuckle, a male one. I open the door and there is an unfamiliar man. "Well Hello miss Y/n I've heard a lot about you," he says.
