"What was--", Kiana tried to ask before Primis stopped her with a gently placed finger against her lips.
"Shhh, zhere is somezhing coming", Primis replied as he nodded towards the doors by the mystery box that led up to the juggernog machine.
"Uh, guys", Dempsey called out from the catwalk above.
"We've got freakbags!" The marine called out as everyone readied their guns.
There was a loud shriek as the undead began to swarm the group. Undead scientists and soldiers began piling up behind the barriers as they viciously tore down the wooden planks covering the windows. Kiana gasped as she watched a horde file through the door way towards her and Primis.
"Come vith me!" Primis exclaimed as he grabbed Kiana's hand.
The pair made their way back up the stairs to meet Dempsey on the catwalk as Nikolai and Takeo took charge of the barriers.
"Ve need to get to a better area! If ve stay here ve vill be killed!" Primis cried as he ushered everyone back up the next set of stairs and out into the open air.
Everyone began to run to the large lunar lander pad which sat atop the stairs to the PhD Flopper. Primis ordered Kiana to stay back against the wall which was painted with a large colourful Soviet mural. As she stood there; she shakily held her pistol and watched the men move into action.
"Fuck yeah! It's good to be back!" Dempsey yelled happily as he readied his M16.
"I have missed the hellpigs", Nikolai agreed as he began loading his stakeout shotgun.
The horde began to grow as the undead made their way towards the group. As they began climbing the steps Dempsey was the first to unload his magazine into them. Nikolai then picked off the stragglers as he blasted them with his shotgun.
"Your turn, Tak!" Dempsey called out as he quickly began reloading.
Takeo stepped forward with his famas machine gun as he watched the knashing teeth of the undead get closer and closer. Then, he quickly unloaded his bullets which pierced through the crowd of undead causing them to fall to the ground.
"Aw yeah! Nice shooting, Tak!" Dempsey laughed as he was clearly high on adrenaline.
"Kiana! Vatch out!" Primis called out as Kiana turned to see an undead Soviet scientist running straight for her.
She quickly raised her pistol and fired directly at the undead creature's head causing it to stop in its tracks. She noticed Primis' face turn pale as he anxiously ran over to check she was okay.
"Oh, don't be daft! I'm fine!" Kiana replied with a smile.
"Stay close to me", Primis commanded as he stood in front of her with his galil in hand.
"We'll keep 'em back!" Dempsey shouted over to Primis as the doctor gave him a reassuring nod.
Hours passed as the undead continued to pile through the barriers and towards the group. Everyone was getting tired as they wondered when it would finally end.
"Fuck! I'm runnin' out of ammo!" Dempsey cursed as he changed over to his pistol.
"We need a max ammo!" Takeo replied as Kiana remembered about the power ups from the game.
"Yeah, I still haven't seen one of them yet", Kiana explained.
"I wonder if they look like the ones in the game", She added.
"Die hellpigs!" Nikolai proclaimed as he took down three undead with one shotgun blast.
As the undead soldiers fell to the ground - a green glowing object appeared.
"Ayyy! Nikolai do good!" The Russian slurred happily as he quickly ran over to pick it up.
"Kabooooom!" A dark gravelly voice announced as a flash of light enveloped the facility.
The undead all suddenly dropped to the ground as the area was cleared.
"Bingo!" Dempsey cheered as everyone turned to see him run down the stairs and towards another power up.
"Fire sale", a demonic voice announced as the sky illuminated with bright blue beams of light.
The mystery box nearby suddenly spun into action as everyone scrambled to get to the boxes scattered around the facility. Primis was the first to get to the nearest box as Dempsey, Takeo and Nikolai quickly ran off in different directions.
"Ah, yes. Mein old friend!" Primis smiled as he picked up the ray gun.
"I want to try!" Kiana smiled as she ran over to spin the mystery box.
She finally had enough points since the fire sale brought the cost of the box down from 950 points to 10. The large wooden crate began to levitate in the air as creepy music played whilst it spun.
"Aw come on!" Kiana spat angrily as she realised what she had gotten.
"Quick! Zhe fire sale is almost over!" Primis explained.
Kiana let out a grumble as she took the Gersch device from the box. Primis quickly ran over to spin the box one final time before the fire sale music ceased.
"Scheisse!" Primis growled as he narrowed his eyes at the floating pistol.
"Anozher pistol for jour collection?" Primis smiled as he looked at Kiana.
"Oh, lucky me!" She replied as she reluctantly took the CZ75 as her secondary weapon.
The others had begun to return as the undead again increased in numbers. More undead scientists and soldiers flooded the facility as everyone regrouped back at the lunar lander pad.
"Ayyy! You have ray gun too?" Nikolai slurred as he smiled over at Primis.
"Baka!" Takeo spat as he returned with a matroyshka doll in his hand.
"Hahaha! Oh, Tak! What the hell is that?" Dempsey tried to ask through his laughter.
"Hey Takeo, throw one of the dolls down the stairs", Kiana asked as Takeo did so.
He flung the matroyshka doll down the stairs towards a large horde of undead before the doll suddenly exploded leaving another smaller doll in its place. The second doll also exploded before another revealing smaller one which did the same completely taking out the horde.
"Well fuck me!" Dempsey said with a look of surprise.
Everyone seemed taken aback by the explosive power of the matroyshka dolls.
"Not too bad, eh?" Kiana smiled at Takeo - who was now impressed with his new weapon.
"Uh, is it me of are there even more hellpigs than before?" Nikolai asked as he looked out at the amassing hordes.
"Oh fuck! They're gonna outnumber our bullets!" Dempsey cried as everyone began to panic.
"We cannot hold them off forever!" Takeo exclaimed.
"Well, we must have rounds like the game. It's been hours since we started killing them. We must be at a pretty high round!" Kiana explained.
"We need to thin them out more before we try to make a crawler", Kiana added before everyone nodded in agreement.
"And I have just the thing!" Kiana smiled as she stepped forward and readied one of her Gersch devices.
"Watch this!" She announced smugly.
As Kiana activated the disc shaped device it began to power on. She quickly threw it down the stairs and into the horde. Suddenly, the device opened as a bright purple light began to emanate from within it. As the undead tried to continue their way towards the group; the bright purple light began pulling them back until they were finally sucked into the light.
"Woah! That's some weird shit!" Dempsey remarked as everyone watched the strange device devour the undead.
But just before the device was about to close - something came out of the bright purple light.
A figure suddenly emerged as the last remained undead were sucked in. Everyone stood wide eyed as they then all turned turned to Kiana.
"Are things meant to come out of the scary purple light?" Nikolai asked.
"N-n-no..." Kiana replied in shock.
Then, the figure slowly got up and rose to its feet - and in doing so - revealed their tall lean frame.
Kiana's eyes widened in surprise before her fight or flight response kicked in. But in an uncharacteristic turn of events; Kiana chose flight and quickly grabbed Primis.
"Quick, in here. We need to hide", Kiana whispered as Primis followed.
The two quickly dove into the small room which housed the PhD Flopper cending machine nearby. Below the damaged window shutters which looked out to where the others stood - Kiana and Primis lay low as they tried their best to conceal their presence.
The others had no longer been looking at the tall figure and instead looked on in confusion at Kiana's strange response. But they knew there was always a reason behind everything she did and quickly turned back to the figure who now stood glaring over at them.
Dempsey, of course, was the first to brazenly step forward and approach the unknown guest.
"Hey! Good to see ya!" Dempsey called over smugly.
By now, he had become used to having to act first and wait to be informed later...
