"hello, who is it?"
Not hearing an answer, I walk over from the kitchen to the front door. I open the door, and my hate fire starts burning like crazy.
"Lauren, I told you never to come here again! Leave, please.." I started sobbing uncontrollably.
"Ms. Hastings, I came here to apologize, for my behavior, for Emily, for everything."
"No, leave."
"Please, Ms. Hastings, I'm begging you!"
I actually see a tear drop falling from Lauren's eyes.
"Okay, 2 minutes. But then you're out. Come in."
"Thank you so much Ms. Hastings , I really appreciate it."
I look at Lauren with expectant eyes. I wonder what she's going to tell me.
"Look, Ms. Hastings. I know I've been a horrible person, and I recognize it, but I'm ready to change. I really am. I came here to apologize, for everything I've ever done to you and your family, Ms. Hastings, I am truly sorry."
"Oh, Lauren. Sigh I'm not ready to forgive just yet. But I will say that I appreciate your apology, I can't stay mad at you, its not what Emily would've wanted."
"Thank you so much, Ms. Hastings. And Emily doesn't have to die, we can keep her in our hearts forever! I recently read Wordsw-"
"Woah woah wait! Lauren read a book?!"
"Haha oh gosh, Ms. Hastings. Anyway, I read Wordsworth's Ode on Intimations of Immortality. The quote that really stuck to me was: 'Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory on the flower, we will greive not, rather find strength in what remains behind.'"
"That's a beautiful quote, Lauren."
"Thank you, Ms. Hastings. What I think this quote means, is that, although nothing could bring back the fact that Emily's gone, we could find strength and immortality in her memories."

"Oh that's my phone."
I see Lauren check her iPhone and then look up at me.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Hastings, my mother is calling for me. Thank you so much for listening to my apology, thank you. And I'll make sure to bring you the book, Ms. Hastings."
"Thank you Lauren, I really appreciate it."
I tell her as i walk her to the front door.

I was finally able to get out of there. I'm so surprised at myself, I'm a pretty good actress. As soon as Ms. Hastings closed the door, I let out a sigh.
