Chapter 27 ~
His words left questions running through y/n's mind, what did he wish for? does he really believe that birthday wishes come true? But her thoughts were cut short when she heard his voice, "here I want you to have the first slice," he said handing her a plate that had the strawberry chocolate cake she had bought for him, she took it feeling honored since usually the birthday boy gets the first slice and without hesitation, she scooped some with her spoon and brought it closer to his mouth.
"You should have the first taste then," she said, he did as she said and took the mouthful of the rich and fresh tasting cake, his eyes lit up immediately as he nodded in approval, "thank god it's good, I picked it out," she said relived with her choice, "a brick would be delicious if you picked it out," he said so smoothly before going back to cut the cake, leaving her with a warm feeling on her cheeks.
After finishing up the cake and having a few more drinks y/n decided it was time she gave Taehyung his surprise gift, she got up but was immediately stopped by a sudden force, looking down she saw that jungkook had grabbed her hand, "where are you going? New Years is in 5 minutes," he said not wanting her to miss the last countdown, she was going to whisper to him about the surprise but realized that now everyone's eyes were on her, and now leaving isn't an option.
Y/n POV,
Thanks for ruining my plans jungkook, I was going to give it to him before New Years and now I can't, I'll just find a way to give it to him before the night is over, "I'm going to go get some water," I said flat out lying, he slowly let go of my hand and slouched back to his seat, "here," Hobi threw me a bottle of water and I quickly caught it in time, "nice one," jungkook said and I just glared at him, he was confused as he had no idea that I'm going to make him regret ever stopping me.
I sat back down next to Taehyung a bit grumpy from what just happened, then suddenly I felt him shift and slowly put his head on my lap, "I'm going to close my eyes for a sec, wake me up when it's time," he said closing his eyes, my mouth went dry by his sudden action and I stiffened up but quickly went to normal a few seconds after, I took my phone to distract myself and thought of scolding jungkook for what he just did while I'm at it.

"Who are you texting?" Taehyung voice scared me as his eyes were now opened, "no one," I said brushing it off and giving jungkook one last glare, I looked down as he was still looking at me, I couldn't help but play with his fluffy hair that he recently dyed brown again, "New Years is in a minute," I said and he got up and sat closer than he used to be next to me.
" Okay since we're about to finish the year everyone go around and say one thing they remember this year that really stood out," Nina said, "I'll go first," she continued, " the thing that really stood out this year was when y/n wanted to surprise me with breakfast in bed but ended up almost burning the house down," she said trying her best not to laugh, "this is what I get for being a good friend," I said pouting, "I still ate it," she said, and I couldn't help but laugh.
"For me maybe..." all the guys said there's and soon it was my turn, "my most memorable moment was when Taehyung asked me to be his doctor in the middle of the hospital, I remember it was the first time I laughed so hard in so long," I said trying not to laugh just thinking about it and so did the others, "how could I know that's not how it works?" He defended himself, "how could you have known," I said patting his back for comfort before laughing.
"My memorable moment from this year was the week me and y/n spent together, it was unforgettable," he said not looking at me, I couldn't help but blush at his words and soon I realized the whole group was giving us weird looks, "anyways," I said changing the subject, "it's the last seconds," I said and we all started counting down.
" 10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!"
We all got up and did a group hug, then we hugged each other individually, "you're going to spend the night here, I prepared sheets for you guys," I said and the all nodded, "I'm sleeping in Nina's bed again," Yoongi said, "no I'm sleeping on my bed you take the couch," "let's see who takes it first," he said and to our shock, he ran to her room and she followed him behind, "I'll take this couch," namjoon said, "actually I bought blow-up mattresses for you guys," I said going to the storage closet and took out 3 boxes and handed it to them.
"Wow thanks," namjoon said giving one to Jungkook and the other one to jimin, " Jin and I are taking the guest bedroom," Hobi said going there and Jin followed, soon everyone went to their place leaving me and Taehyung, "you're sleeping with me then," I said heading to my room as I felt him walk behind me, as soon as both of got in, I closed the door and locked it, "I know this looks bad but I want to give you something," I said.
Author POV,
Taehyung sat on her bed but was caught off guard by her sudden action, he watched as she went to her work bag and took out a very pretty envelope, then went behind her dresser and pulled out a very big wrapped rectangular thing, he was still confused until she came closer and handed them to him, "open the big one first," she said putting her arms behind her back waiting for his reaction, he smiled just from the thought that she got him something as he eagerly tore the wrapping paper off.
He was shocked to see a portrait she has drawn of him, "I wanted to draw you from a picture only I have, maybe you don't remember but this was-" "this was from the time we went to the cafe next to that weird-looking statue, the picture I took of you next to it is my Home Screen," he cut her off admiring her work, her eyes went wide by his last statement as he said it as if it wasn't anything.
"You remembered," she mumbled, "of course I remember," he responded as the feeling of warmth he always brings her took over her chest spreading like wildfire across her body, the feeling of being remembered gave her such a wonderful feeling, "now the envelope," she said, he took the envelope and was shocked by the weight of it, looking up at her confused, "quickly!" She said eager for him to open it.
He opened it and was surprised to see a bracelet made out of very smooth almost silk-like thick string with a small round flat charm that had y/n's initials engraved in it, then he pulled out the handwritten letter y/n made as he loudly read what was written.
" Dear Taehyung-" "can you not read it out loud," she said embarrassed of what she had written, hearing her words made her cringe for some reason, "no I want to read it out loud," he said teasing her, "now where was I ? Yes, Dear Taehyung," he read then she decided to sit next to him on the bed, peeking at her letter, " I have written this letter over a 100 times, wait really?" He cut off again, "just read it!" she nagged and he continued, clearing his throat before doing so.
"I have written this letter over a 100 times and I think this is it, I wanted to gift you something very special something I know only I could gift to you which was that drawing, that picture means a lot to me because that day I felt like we were the only ones alive and my mind only thought of what we should do next, I also took the picture in secret and decided right there and then that I will gift it to you on your birthday. I have a lot of things to say and a lot of emotions to express but that should be another time, and I want to keep this short. Now I know you might be confused as to why your bracelet has my initials but if you look closely I have the same bracelet but with your initials-" he stopped and looked at her wrist.
Taking her wrist he brought it closer to his face observing the engraving it had, "how did I not notice?" He said with a smile never seen before, "can you finish reading this already," she nagged again, "okay, with your initials, but that still doesn't really answer the question now does it, we'll let me explain, when I was younger my father once told me "if you want the world to know something is yours write your name on it," I know he didn't mean this but I still did it, I wanted you to know that we were each other's and that no matter what happened between us you can just look at your wrist and see my name, I will forever be your friend and person you rely on in times of need. So whenever you feel down just look at your wrist and I'll be there. Thank you for being here Taehyung, from your cute and gorgeous friend y/n ;)"
He didn't even think twice before taking y/n into a hug, "thank you," he said so sincerely "thank you too," she responded wrapping her hands around him tighter, both of them not wanting to pull away, then eventually they had to, "can you help me put it on?" He asked handing her the bracelet and she helped him, and as soon as she finished he admired the engraving like a cute little kid, "do you like it?" She asked, "I love it," he said turning to face her.
They stayed staring into each other's eyes, not breaking eye contact, he came closer to her face as she stayed still, coming closer every second, their faces now an inch apart, admiring each other's faces, studying each other features as if they were getting tested on it tomorrow, but a sudden knock came from the door catching them by surprise and causing Taehyung to jerk forward, softly brushing his lips against hers, he quickly pulled back getting up and turning the other way as she headed for the door flustered.
Quickly unlocking the door and revealing the person that ruined their moment, "hi," jimin said innocently peeking his head in, "hey do you need something?" Y/n asked softly trying her best to hide her burning cheeks, "why are your cheeks red?" He asked and she just glared, "never mind, I just wanted to see if anyone wanted to go to the cafe nearby to get some coffee," he said, "jimin it's 12:30 in the morning," y/n said a bit annoyed as his reason for knocking.
"I want coffee and it's New Years," he said with a pout to make y/n feel bad for him, "fine, I actually need some air," she says, "Tae come with us," jimin said, "I don't drink coffee you guys go I'll wait for you to come back," he said unable to look y/n in the eyes, "did something happen-" "let's go before it gets too late!" Y/n closes jimins mouth with her hand and leaving the room but immediately gets stopped, "here take my jacket it's cold out," Taehyung extends his jacket to her.
Her jacket was next to his in the hanger in her room but he still gave her his, she didn't say anything and took it, quickly wearing it and leaving with jimin, and before she knew it they were already at the cafe, "I didn't know this cafe opened after midnight, " she says taking a seat and he takes the one in front of her, "I saw the work hours when we came to your house last time, " he said, "so what do you want?" He asks getting up to order, "I'll take the same as you," she says and he gives her a "are you sure?" look.
Y/n POV,
He came back with the most dreadful drink I have ever seen, matcha, "what did you order?" I asked not amused with his little game, "well you said you wanted whatever I wanted and I was craving some matcha but changed my mind and forgot to change your order," he said placing the matcha drink in front of me, "I told you I hate matcha," I said almost gagging at the idea of drinking it, "I know," he said with a chuckle, "drink it maybe you will like it this time," he says as he sips his delicious coffee.
"Fuck you jimin," I say before taking a sip, and immediately taking his drink and washing the matcha taste away, he was laughing his head off before he fell face-first off his chair, "karmas a bitch," I said now laughing at him, "wow you really hate it," he said getting back to his seat, " I told you, why would I lie?" I responded, now his drink was mine as I take a few more sips, he waves to the waitress and she comes out with another drink.
"Thank you," I say as she places it in front of me, it was a Frappuccino with a lot of cream, "how'd you know I was craving this?" I asked a bit shocked, " I just know, now give me my coffee," he says taking the cup out of my hand, "wait, aren't you scared she will think this is a date and start some kind of rumor," I say realizing how we look like and started to panic, "she doesn't look like she knows who I am or she probably doesn't care since she showed no emotion whatsoever when I came to order," he says calmly.
" so y/n," he says looking like he's about to say something serious, "yes?" I say taking a sip from the cold drink he bought me, I don't really care if it's winter I like cold drinks, "is there something you want to tell me?" He says leaning back in his seat, I look at him confused "what thing?" I asked and he gives me a smirk, "you know what I mean," he says and I'm still completely lost, "just say it," I say curious as to what he's talking about, "you know what I mean," he says not saying what the thing is.
"Jimin," I say now a bit frustrated, "just say it," and he looks around and at this point, I felt like I committed murder by the way he was being secretive, "you and Taehyung," he says and I'm still not catching on, "oh for god sake! Are you and Taehyung a thing yet?" My eyes go wide at his statement, is it obvious I might have a teeny tiny little crush on him?! "I-" "what about Taehyung and y/n?" a voice surprised us both from behind...
