her first movie debut in If Beale street could talk where she starred alongside; Regina King and Stephan James. Rojas won an Oscar for lead actress in playing Tish Rivers in the movie. Alongside her movie mother, Regina King who won an Oscar for supporting actress.

Through "She's Gotta Have It." Rojas developed a romance with her co-star Anthony Ramos when filming began
in the summer of 2016. As of 2021, the couple are now engaged to each other.
And are also the lead actor and actress
in the brand new In the heights movie, with Rojas playing Sloane Figuero and Ramos playing Usnavi De La Vega.
