Kaessie
Chapter 5
The One with My New Phone
"I'm serious. I'm gonna kill you so hard you wish you ain't ever been killed before," Evi groaned, on the floor of my dorm. It was a few days later, and they were all pissed at me, over something that so wasn't even my fault.
So my step-dad sent me a new phone, right? All nice and shiny and fragile and unworkable because I have no idea how to work these things, and I go to activate it. Everything works good, they've got everything going and-
They can't transfer my contacts. So, I lost my contacts.
No big deal, right? I can go on Twitter and talk to the guys about what happened and everything will be great! Too bad Harry failed to ever tell me my Twitter password. So here I am, just meeting these great guys, and I already lost them. Great. Thank-you new phone.
Not.
So now Layla and Evi are mad at me because they fancied One Direction and I lost their numbers. But you wanna know what? I lost them, too! I feel awful because I said we'd make plans, but never did.
And of course, I had to get a new number with my phone. So now they have some random number that Lord knows who's it is.
"Obviously if I'm dead, I'm gonna wish that I was never killed to begin with," I point out, hitting my head repeatedly on my headboard. I was packing for my trip, and although Layla and Evi were supposed to be 'helping' me, but really they were just making everything more difficult for me.
"Why don't you just go to their flat?"
"Hm, Evi, I don't know! Why don't I just go back to their flat? Oh yeah, because, I don't know, their security is a pain in the arse and I don't even know where they technically live! Liam brought me home with him-"
"Whoa whoa whoa, he what?!?" Layla demanded. Evi began to roll on the ground from laughter, and I threw my bra at her face. "OW! I can't burn my eyes, Kaessie! Be more considerate!"
"I'm sorry."
"I can't believe you are leaving us tonight, Kaessandra Rafaela!" I grinned at the mention of my middle name... Louis was so disappointed when he discovered I wasn't Hispanic-
Stop thinking about those boys, Kaessie. Get over them. You'll never hear from them again-
Okay. That's depressing, and that's not helping. But you're seeing AJ now... Be happy! He's your boyfriend. He's perfect and amazing and everything you've ever really wanted.
But for some reason, even that didn't help me.
"Hey, guys," Evi said, coming out of the bathroom. I hadn't even notice she went in. "I can clap with one hand." Layla and I tried to bite back laughter at how serious she was and how random the statement is.
"What?"
"Yeah. So, I was in the bathroom, doing my business, and I flicked my hand back and I clapped."
"What? Why?"
"I got bored."
"While you were..."
"Yes. What else was I supposed to do?!?"
"Uh... Nothing? No one gets bored on the porcelain throne."
"I did. And I discovered one of my many secret talents that even you don't know about!"
"I just don't believe you," Layla admitted. "How do you clap with one hand?!?" Evi flicked her wrist forward, her fingers slapping her palm and made a loud slap sound. "Whoa! That's not fair! I want to clap with one hand!"
"So like this?" I bent my fingers so they hit my palm, but no sound came out, to my disappointment.
"No. You need the flick... One, two, three, flick!" She flicked her wrist forward limply and made the sound again.
"This isn't fair!" She clapped with one hand on both hands, Layla and I still trying to figure out the logic.
"We look so stupid," I comment. "Trying to clap with one hand... And how can you clap with one hand but not snap!"
"I don't know."
"Wanna know who'd love this conversation right now?" Layla asked. Evi and I both shrugged in response. "Louis freakin' Tomlinson if you didn't loose his freakin' number!"
"I'm sorry, guys! Just... Forgive and forget?"
"This is so hard to forget but... Forgiven, I guess."
"That's good. Or else I'd slap you."
"You do realize Layla isn't as mad at you for loosing Louis' number, as she is that you lost Harry's, right?" Evi teased. Layla began to attack Evi with a pillow whilst we continued to pack, Evi enjoying her new-found talent of one-handed claps. At noon, I had finished packing, and had grabbed my luggage and duffel bags, and headed out to the airport.
I arrived in New York about five hours later (or should I say earlier... Time change sucks) exhausted because of the jet lag. I saw AJ waiting for me tentatively. He looked as good-looking as ever, with his buzz cut that suited him well, his stunning blue eyes and fit body. I approached him by surprise and hugged him from behind, but instead of returning the gesture, he quickly jumped forward from surprise and ducked to the ground, staring at me with a glare, before he realized it was me.
That was... Odd.
"Oh my god, Kaessie!" He greeted, picking me up and spinning me in a circle, setting me on my two feet again. We gave a long, passionate kiss as he guided me to the baggage claim, my Vera Bradley's very easily recognizable through the claim. He put his arms around me protectively, in a way that said that I was his. "I missed you so much," He said into my hair.
"I missed you too. How are you? How is everyone?"
"Everyone is great, I'm great, better that my amazing girlfriend is here." He kissed my forehead before taking my bags from the claim and forcing them over his shoulder. "Do you want to go out to eat before we head home?"
"Sure. Were to?"
"Olive Garden?" I grinned... I loved Italian.
"Sure. I'm so happy to see you."
"I'm so happy to see you, too." He guided me through the airport to his car, and we made our way to the restaurant.
During the car ride home, I called up both my mother and the girls to tell them I arrived safely and I was well and no mass serial killer had sneaked onto the plane just for the sole purpose of killing me. Once at Olive Garden, we got a booth seat, and I took the side facing the door. I didn't realize that was a big deal, before I sat down and AJ gave me a skeptic look, not sitting across from me.
"Hey, AJ," I looked up at him. "What's wrong?"
"Can I sit there?" He pointed to my seat. I could tell my expression was confused and bewildered.
"Come again?"
"Can I sit there? Where your sitting?"
"Uh... Why?"
"Trust me, Kaessie. Please. Let me sit there."
"I don't see the big deal-"
"Just give me the damn seat!" He growled. A few tables around us were watching him as he freaked out, and I sulked a bit in the seat from embarrassment before getting up and sitting the side opposite that. I cocked an eyebrow, looking at him expectantly, him not even noticing.
"What?"
"Aren't you going to say something to me?"
"Like..."
"Ugh," I groaned, rolling my eyes and shaking my head in a jerking way to the sides. "Never mind."
"Oh." We continued in silence, something unusual for us, especially after nearly a year away from each other. But after his behavior, we had nothing to say. Well, I didn't.
I found his sudden behavior in just the past hour to be very odd. He was never liked this before he left. I wonder if it was the time change, or something bigger, but I didn't linger much on it before the waitress came to take our order. After about a half hour of not speaking to each other in peace, AJ payed and we left to go home, to his house.
I suddenly knew it would be a very long few days in his household.
His parents loved me, sure, that was one thing. His sister loved me like I was her sister, and we talked to each other on the phone about once a week casually to catch up on stuff. Lucy, his sister, was a nurse currently, studying to be a practitioner locally. Since it was October in New York, it was bitterly cold. Even the time I had lived here, up until I was thirteen, I couldn't think of any Autumns cooler than this. And that was saying something.
AJ still grew distant to me as the first day went by. We were rained inside so we couldn't do anything, but we did watch movies all day, and today I felt like part of the old AJ that I loved was back, which was enough proof to me that AJ was still himself and that it was, in fact, the time change that made him so rigid.
So I thought.
Lucy's fiance Brian came over the next morning with his X-Box to play games with AJ, thinking it'd cheer him up and give him some guy time. He began playing before AJ and I woke up, and when AJ came down and heard the gunshots from the game, he freaked out and ran upstairs, terrified. I ran upstairs following him, and came to his room. He put his head into a pillow, and when I touched his back, he gripped my wrist hard unintentionally, leaving bruises on my wrist.
"Oh my god," He said, a few seconds after purpling my wrist. "I'm so sorry Kaessie-"
"It's fine," I had replied, numbly. "It's all good."
Although it wasn't.
It wasn't all good at all.
Especially the next day.
A/N: Next chapter is Liam's point of view! So, what do you think happened the next day?
I'm not updating unless I get three votes and one comment. At all, unless I feel that it's been too long. I'm sorry, guys, I just feel like people are seeing the story, but not doing anything.
Anyway... Question: Who's your favorite character so far? 0:)
