"Y/n! Can you help pick up the rest of the boxes? There's about 3 more boxes, I need to arrange these two boxes"
"Sure, just let me finish tidying this one up!"
I pick up the remaining books from the box and arrange them by size in the bookcase
After I finish putting them in, I stand up and pick up the empty box and fold it nicely
As I walk to the doorway, I trip over a small box and fall down, making a loud thump sound
"Y/n? What's going on in there? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, don't worry! I just tripped!"
I look behind my feet and see the culprit, a small, vintage looking box
I sit up straight and take the box and put it on my lap, slowly opening the lid
I open the lid and see tons of old pictures in the box
I pick one up and turn it around
'13th August 2021' That's what's written on the back of the picture
"Huh.. 13th August??"
Flashback~
"Ahh finally exams are over!" A boy shouted as he stepped out of the classroom along with his friends, feeling relieved
"I know right? Hey, let's grab some food, I'm hungry"
"Let's go!!" The three boys walked together to the cafeteria and pick a table
"Doyoung, who's that girl?" The boy named Sunoo pointed at a small, young girl standing alone near the cafeteria entrance, she seems lost
'Is she a student here? She looks so young' Sunoo thought to himself
"Oh, her, she's Mr. Hwang's daughter, Yeji and Hyunjin's little sister and my cousin" The other boy named Intak replied
"What is she doing here?" I asked
"Probably waiting for her dad or something" Intak said, looking very uninterested
"Intak!" The young girl they were just talking about, squeals and comes running to their table
"Finally found you!" She sits next to Intak and hugs him
"What are you doing here? You're not a student here, don't you have homeschool right now?"
"Nope~ Dad is my teacher remember? Which means I have a very flexible time schedule" She cheered
"Oh, hi! Sorry for barging in so sudden, I'm Hwang Y/n! Intak's cousin!" She flashed a bright smile, looking very cute
Well, at least in Sunoo's eyes she is
That was a very simple meeting, not so romantic, not awkward, not weird, just normal
But with that simple meeting, grew sparks of love in that boy's heart
And the same goes to the girl
"Intak! Intak! Intak!" Sunoo ran through the hallways to catch up with his best friend who was on his way to meet his cousin, Y/n, a.k.a Sunoo's crush
"Here, give this to Y/n, please?" He hands him a box of chocolates, which he made himself by watching tutorials on YouTube
"Nice try bud, but she's allergic to chocolate, she likes cheese sticks better" Intak pats his shoulder and continues his journey to meet Y/n
"Fine! Then give her these instead but please don't tell her it's from me" Sunoo stops Intak and gives him a small bouquet of yellow tulips
"Nice choice, her favorite flower and color" He takes the small bouquet with him and leaves
Sunoo squeaks from excitement, jumping around with a huge smile plastered on his face
When Intak comes back, he immediately asks for details of how her reaction was
Confused? of course
Happy? Kind of
Curious? Very
And the loop goes on and on and on for a very long time
Sunoo gets something for her, gives it to Intak and Intak delivers it to her
At this point, Intak doesn't even know why he's still doing this when he thought it was just a one time thing
"Intak~ Can you give this to her please?"
"Sunoo, no, do it yourself, when are you going to man up and just confess to her? It's been like a year and we've graduated already"
"I-i can't, what if she rejects me?"
"You don't have to worry about her rejecting you, worry about Hyunjin keeping her away from you, he's very protective"
Sunoo stays silent
Well, Intak isn't wrong, he's been doing this for way too long and he still doesn't have a plan to confess
"Alright! I will confess to her!" Sunoo said full of determination
"Cool, Y/n is coming in 10 minutes so go and prep yourself"
"Wait- what?" Sunoo feels his courage slowly shrinking, losing his determination which he just gained not even a minute ago
"It's now or never, you'll probably just chicken up next time so let's do it now, just say these simple words "Hwang Y/n, I love you, more than I love myself" and then you give her the thing earlier, whatever that is" He simply said
Sunoo didn't hear him, he was busy panicking and looking for a hair brush along with a mirror
Intak sighs and smacks his forehead "You already look good Sunoo, just don't make a fool of yourself and you'll be fine"
Sunoo takes deep, deep breaths and let them out, and does it again, over and over
Suddenly, a phone rang, it's Intak's phone
"Hello? Oh hey, Y/n. Yeah, I'm with a friend right now. Oh no it's fine, we can just hangout together. Mhm sure, I'll be waiting at the park. Cool, see ya" He ended the phone call
"Y/n is near, I'll wait and watch behind that tree, good luck buddy" He pats Sunoo's shoulder and leaves him alone and hides behind a tree not so far away from the place
Not long after, Y/n comes along looking confused
"Hi Sunoo! Where's Intak? He told me to meet him here" She looks around, in hopes of finding Intak
"O-oh- he's uhm- getting snacks at the convenience store" He stuttered
"Oh? He didn't tell me that but okay! Can I sit next to you?"
"Uh- sure" She smiled and happily sits on the bench, right next to Sunoo
A few minutes of silence, neither dare to speak, just watching their own phone screen
Until Intak texts Sunoo and tells him to confess
Though nervous, he still is determined to do it
"U-uhm, Y/n? Can I say something?"
"Sure"
"I like you- it's been a year now.. and- I don't know- d-do you like me back?" He hands her a small white box and she opens it
A hair pin, a golden one in fact
She smiles and closes the box
"I like you too"
Sunoo lets out his breath that he's been holding and Intak, cheered from far away
"But.."
He tensed up
"Uhm- I don't know, Sunoo, I'm still too young to date.. but maybe if you wait for 2 more years then we can date? That is if you want to-"
"I'll do it! I'll wait for you.." He says before letting her finish her sentence
"Thank you"
End of flashback~
'Damn were those high school days fun' I thought to myself
"Hey! I look good there"
I giggle "Remember this, Sunoo?"
"Yeah, that's when I confessed to you, good thing I didn't get rejected" He ruffled my hair and kisses my cheek
"Mhm.. and it's a good thing too that you were patient enough to wait for 2 years, even though you could've find someone way better than I am"
"I wouldn't trade you for the world darling" He smiles and pulls me in for a short, yet sweet kiss
I giggle at his cute behavior "Love you, Kim Sunoo"
"Love you too, Hwang Y/n"
