Olivia Thorne

I watch as he walks away, the warmth that radiated from him leaving, just like he is.

He intrigues me he's cold and emotionless on the outside but on the inside he would fight to defend others, he's brave, kind, caring, protective, honest, genuinely shows how he feels, but he hides the moment he gets uncomfortable, and something tells me he doesn't get attached for a reason.

Adrian's words still sit in my head repeating like a broken record, but it shows the broken person underneath, and I'm not whole either but I also show how I feel he holds all of it in.

I also don't even know where he went or is going?

"I had no idea about that, and I've known him for ten-eleven years" Nico says and he looks sympathetic for me.

"Nico it's fine, just he walks away the second he gets uncomfortable why is that?" I ask, "just like why he doesn't give hugs, or express emotions unless with just the group?".

"You'd have to ask him" Ava says.

"I wouldn't do that, Adrian is probably the most emotionally inverted person I've met, he holds everything in, he didn't even cry when his parents were buried and that's not because he didn't care, he did. He isn't like anyone else in the world we all see the spoiled rich boy who drives fucking hypercar's to school. We don't see that he has no one left. That no one good has been by his side on a highly sensitive and intimate level in the past three years. He picked up his own pieces and rebuilt himself, all he needs is someone to show him that it isn't just his four closest friends that will stand by him, he needs something someone more then that" Nico says, and the two other boys nod.

"So someone needs to show him that they mean him well, and won't hurt him".

"Yes that is what he needs Little Olive" Riley says with a sigh.

"But we're pretty sure no one will get through to him, he has the excellant ability of making it impossible to read him, and shutting people out, especially love, he doesn't believe in it sees it as a chemical response to someone nothing more. That's a story that he should tell you, and if you want to understand him ask why he leaves when he gets uncomfortable over expressing deep personal things about himself".

I nod because I can't do anything else, he's such a broken person with a heart of gold that he let's no one see.

You could be the one to get through to him.

Shut up subconscious, I doubt that strongly, its Adrian Leo Winters the boy no one gets to actually know besides you're a scholarship girl he wouldn't open up to you about something that deep.

He did though when he told you his deepest fear.

I sigh and slowly walk back inside before going up to my room, it's on the opposite side of Adrian's upstairs and looks over the front of the home, from here I can also see that he closed the blinds on his window.

He really is that secretive.

I then walk over to my bag, and pick up the bomber he gave me it smells like him a mix of Tom Ford Ombre Leather and spearmint, and I'm not even smelling it it just sits around the jacket.

I then set it on my bed and pull open my duffelbag to pick up the book I got the day before leaving Brooklyn to the Hamptons, and flip it open.

I then put back on what I was wearing before going swimming, and pull the bomber over top of my crop top.

Sitting on my bed I begin to read through it and get to page 109 before I hear the sound of the gate opening and look out the window to see Adrian soaked in rain walk across the driveway, I then glance at my phone and see he has been gone four and a half hours.

I then listen and can hear the group talking to him mostly Nico and Hunter everyone else is in their rooms.

I wait a moment because I don't know what he's like post angry and I don't want him to he angry at me, I then watch Adrian go into his room and walk into his bathroom, before the sound of a shower running can be heard very faintly.

I then walk to his door and push it open before closing the black door behind me and sit down on his bed.

I would like to ask him about why he leaves when he talks about anything deeply personal, along with him being sad about it. But checking up on him will do just as good if I can.

Thirty minutes later the door to the bathroom opens and he walks out a towel around his waist.

God someone tell me how he is this damn attractive.

Adrian then held up his finger to signal the he would be a moment and slipped into his closet before coming out a minute later in black jeans and a shirt.

"Hi bellissima" Adrian says to me and finger combing his hair.

"Hey Adrian" I reply before he sits down on the bed his leg bent and one arm resting on it.

Typical bad boy pose.

"How are you feeling?" I ask watching him as I sit my legs pulled to my chest my head resting on my knees.

"Better, sorry for leaving" he says his voice is low making his apology sound sincere and genuine.

"It's fine, why do you..." I begin and then stop because I don't want him to be mad at me after all I am in a room with the person nicknamed The Devil.

"Why do I what Livi?" he muses.

Damn him for his smooth calm voice.

"Why do you leave whenever your open about anything that is deeply personal to you?" I ask waiting for his face to contort to anger, for him to tell me to get out of his room but neither happens he just looks at me, and smiles sadly.

"After my parents died, I was befriended by this girl named Savannah, we called her Sav for short" he begins and I double check that I closed the door behind me.

"I was friends with her until I was sixteen when she became my girlfriend, we dated well into Sophomore year, and I had bought my first car a solid black Range Rover. No surprise there. As time went on things got toxic on both our ends I wasn't a good person at the time and eventually, all she asked for was favours" he continues, and though I'm the innocent girl I know what he's talking about.

"I never gave into them ever I just wasn't ready to have that as a part of my relationship, one day however she got drunk, and then yelled at me in front of my house in Brooklyn Heights, yes I lived in Brooklyn for a few months, I then pressed charges, after she destroyed my car, and threw champagne bottles at me, the police then took her away and I haven't seen her since, I told her everything and there was actually a time we had been consided the future power couple of New York, but it fell apart with my mental health over the six months we were together. It's much better now, but our relationship was toxic behind closed doors, that's why I walk away, because if I leave after making myself feel nothing people won't hurt me".

In that moment I realize every wall is gone he's vulnerable, so I move to be beside him and hug him, less then a second later he's pulled me into his strong arms, and all I can feel is the familiar heat from his body that fills me up.

How can someone so brave, kind caring, honest, and genuine also be cold, emotionally reserved, and secretive. I know why.

Because broken people have two faces.

The one person who I've met and known for two weeks is now holding me, I don't know why but I feel safest here.

Suddenly there's a knock on the door and the feeling of being caught over takes me in a violent wave, before it opens a crack, "we're going to make fettuccine do you two want some?" Mia asks, and I wonder how she knew I was also in here, but then again she likely could tell I was because my door was left open.

"Yes, please" I say and the door closes, "I'll just go take off the bomber you gave me, I don't want to ruin it" I say gesturing to the black jacket I'm wearing, as I move backwards towards the door.

"I'll be downstairs, also Olivia" I stop and turn my hand on the door handle. "Thank you".

I then smile at him and open the door before walking back to my room and hanging the bomber.

As I descend the stairs, I make my way into the kitchen where everyone is dishing up, including Adrian.

I then begin to put the noodles on my plate, and pesto sauce.

We all then sit down at a large black mahogany table and I start to realize that Adrian's homes are all make to be big and open.

To bad this is the only time I will likely see this place.

The table wasn't as quiet as I expected it to be either, Adrian sat at the head of the table me to his right followed by Nico on the left, from there it went Hunter, Mia, Ava, and Riley who was beside me. No one wanted to be opposite Adrian.

"Olivia what was public school like?" someone asks and we all look to see Adrian looking at me his fork in mid air with noodles around it.

So now he's openly interested in me, wasn't expecting that.

I then look down at my food and pretend to be getting another bite of food, but in reality I'm doing this because I feel like he could see every part of my just through eye contact.

"Boring for the most part I was the nerd girl always with my nose in a book either reading or studying, from time to time I would sneak into the music room to play the piano that only teachers were allowed to play. I had two close friends. Angela and Paris. But other then that I was picked on, made to do peoples homework, no one ever showed interest in me and the one person who did, well..." I trail off.

Adrian's jaw tenses and in his eyes I can see sympathy, and frustration.

"What makes this school different" Riley asks either aware of his friends tense body language and trying to soften the subject, or doesn't even realize it at all and is being curious.

I hope the second one.

"Thornbrook has been nothing but interesting, I met five of you there and was generally welcomed" I start.

Though I feel like a fish out of water around all of you.

"I also just got to be myself none of you judge me for who I am, not even for a second. I wanted to stay out of the limelight but even when I said I was a scholarship student none of you decided I wasn't worth your time".

They all smiled each and every one of them. Including the dark thunderstorm at the end of the table.

Maybe, just maybe I do have a place in this world with all of them maybe, just maybe I finally found my home.

I am enjoying this book, I might get a second chapter out today I don't really know but we will see. Also I know this was a bit of a realization chapter and I did start with it being dark but its intentionally like this, so comment below what do you think happened with Olivia and the one person who showed interest in her, also vote and share I appreciate it and all the support you all give. Anyways

Peace✌
