The room looked back at me, even Evan looked back. The looks between them all were as if they were all trying to figure who would tell me.
"How about we have dinner and put the young ones to bed before we get into that story?" Hallie said to the room.
We all agreed that that was the best plan as Lois has already seen and heard more than any young girl should have at her age. We all went through the motions of getting food on the table, watching the guys as they worked together to get dinner done, I see they are getting along now and like they were meant to work together which in a small way confused me as why didn't they feel the bond when they first met and why didn't I feel the connection back when we were younger between me and Evan.
A soft growl sounded in my head, and a voice whispered 'because I have only just woke up' but I knew deep down that was not my cats thoughts voice, making me wonder what's going on with me and when I will know what's behind that voice, before it whispered again "soon, soon we will meet and you will know the true you'.
Shaking my head clear I realise that dinner was done and cleared, Hallie had taken Barbie and Lois bed.
"Earth to Blaise, come in Kitty!" Even joked in front of me, waving his hand in front of my face.
"Oh piss off!" I laugh at his antics, as I get up from the dining table we had eat at, Even held my hand and rubbed his thumb over the back of my hand, one of the voices in my mind all but shivered a low happy growl at the feeling the simple hand touch brought me.
"You were eating my instinct back there, where did you go?" Evan asked as we entered the sitting room, with the curtains pulled and the lamps on the room had a cozy feeling. Beckett sat on the sofa and Quin sat on one of the three armchairs, as Evan sat me by Beckett and him sitting the other side of me, both my mates snuggling me in I felt safe.
"Oh erm, I keep hearing another voice in my head!" I tell the boys in the room.
"Your cat, that is usual for us shifters!" Quin quipped.
"Yea, you've told me how snarky she can be in the past!" Evan added, bringing a low growl from my cat at his words.
"No, another voice that joins my cats!" I tell them straight. "It's a new one, it says they have just woken up!".
"That is weird!" Beckett adds, holding my hand and like Evan rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand , causing my cat to purr.
"What's weird?" Sam asks as he enters with Hallie following.
"The children are down for the night, well I hope so but we don't know with Barbie. What's wrong?" she asks as she sits on the arm of the chair Sam had sat in.
"Nothing, let's shelf that for now. What can you tell me about this pack?" I ask.
"Well, there's not a lot that we do know for definite, but I will tell you what we know!" Sam told me. "The shadow pack is known as a wandering pack they have never set up territory of their own, they tend to attack packs and try to run the pack away from the lands after they have taken what and I heard who they wanted. Then they leave the area and move on, not really having any rhyme or reason on who and where they attack. Until now I guess!"
"Yea, I remember dad talking about them, they attacked my Aunt's Pack a long time ago. If I remember they stole all the orphans back then too!" Evan added. "That was a few years before we first met!"
"Around the time Lillie joined our pack after being found in the forests?" I ask, looking at Hallie.
"Yes, she was found in the forests alone 3 years before you left!" Hallie answered. "She was placed with a family at first, the orphan house was getting busy and we didn't want to overwork your parents!"
"Then how did she come to be in the house then?" I asked, trying to pull all the strings together to get a whole picture of what happened and what could be happening here now.
"Well she would scream the house down and cry her eyes out, she never settled but we all thought in time she would settle. Then came a day I was at the stray house with Hallie, she came running to the Orphan house, she had bruises on her arms saying they had hurt her. That she wanted to stay with Liam and Polena, they felt so sorry for her they made room straight away." Sam answered.
"Yes, that was how your parents were Blaise, they had a soft spot for children. But I remember the gleam in her eyes that da, Lillie looked like she had done something right and needed to be praised, but when she saw me looking she covered her face in pain and anguish that made me not trust that I saw what I saw." Hallie added. "When we checked the family she was with, they were at work when Lillie came running, and they were good people. Not long after they moved on,I think the accusations were too much for them. To this day I have not trusted the girl, just wish we had watched her closer!"
"We all just thought she was a trouble starter mum!" Quin tried to calm his mum.
"Yes, but if we had watched closer maybe a lot of things could have been different!" Hallie had tears tracking down her cheeks. "We could have seen through Polena and Liam's lies and found you and brought you back sooner!"
"No, what has happened had to happen, I guess it was fate!" I told Hallie, wanting to hug her, but the boys were holding my hands to keep me with them. "I had to go, I had to find myself and along the way Evan here!"
"I guess you are right," Hallie conceded, hugging her husband.
"Ok, so they are a moving bunch of psycho wolves?" I rounded it up.
"Yep!" was the resounded answer.
"So what's their thing with orphans and why this pack next?" I asked no one in particular. "And what has a Chimera got to do with it?"
"Fuck.!" Evan exclaimed, making me jump. "You, it's to do with you!"
"What's to do with me?!" I ask bewildered, looking around everyone else was confused too, all but Beckett, he seemed to be in on Evans thoughts. Making me growl.
"No need to growl my Kitty!" Evan placate. "You, you are the Chimera. The two different voices in your head, having two mates. It all makes sense you are the Chimera!"
"I am not saying you are right on this, but if you are right, why do I only shift into my Jaguar?" I ask, trying to get my mind around the thought he may be right. "And what's the shadow pack got to do with me?"
"Maybe you were tied to this form til you found your mates?!" Evan wondered aloud. But with his exclamation I heard 'he is right'.
"Fuck, you are bloody right, that voice just said so!" I say excitedly, just for the reason that I am not going crazy.
"Yea but what is your other form?" Beckett asks. "If I reacted and mate bonded to your Jaguar, what is your third form?"
"I do not know yet, but all it says is soon!" I answer.
"Wow, this pack wasn't going to be quiet after this is it!" Quin quipped.
"No, after these attacks are sorted, I think we're gonna be anything but bored!" Sam laughed.
"OMG!" I exclaim as it all begins to fall into place."the shadow packs are looking for me, that's why they were looking through the Orphanages in packs!"
"You may just be onto something there!" Hallies mutters. "But why did they leave Lillie here?"
"What's to say they didn't leave a young spy in every pack they attacked years after?" Quin asks. "That's the only reason I could think of really, maybe they got bored waiting this pack out or Lillie did?"
"For once I think my brother is right!" Beckett said softly. "In the morning I will try to contact the other packs that got attacked by the shadow Pack and see if it clicked with them!"
"That's a good idea son, now me and your mum are going to go to bed. We have left the room at the back downstairs free tonight and ready to sleep. We are gonna sleep near the children upstairs and Quin here is gonna sleep in his old room in the attic!" Sam praised and explained.
After goodnights and hugs were given, only me, Evan and Beckett were let in the room. The air was charged and hot, crackling across my skin in anticipation of what could happen tonight, but I was not gonna let fears of the unknown stop me.
Standing up and stretching out I turned around to see two hungry sets of eyes watching me.
"Coming to bed boys?".........................
