SHUT UP!" I let my anger take over and grabbed her arm, shoving her against the wall harder than I had meant. I didn't mean that... I just meant to push her lightly! She let out a small whimper, showing pain and at that moment I'm pretty sure my heart snapped a bit. My eyes grew wide and I felt sick.
My hand automatically dropped to my side and I was frozen. What had I done...? I was like those monsters who had hurt her earlier. I looked down to my hand in anger, as in blaming it on it... when I was the one that controlled it.
Fear was clear in her eyes and it felt horrible. She was scared of me.. my mate was scared of me...
"Maisie, I'm so-" I began apoligizing and reached out to pull her into a hug but froze when she flinched. She squeezed her eyes shoot as if waiting for someone to hit her. Why? I wouldn't.. it was an accident... what had I done? I slowly dropped my hand to my side and waited.
After a moment she slowly re-opened them and studied me. Emotions were flooding through me. Pain, worry.. and such regret. So much regret!
"Maisie, I didn't m-" I tried to explain but she quickly interuppted me.
"Don't... Please let me go home" Her voice was weak and she did everything not to look at me. "Please."
She said please...
Usually she would demand me if she wanted something then she'd give out when I refused. She was scared... She was scared of me. I had messed up.
"No" I said. WAS I STUPID, WHY DID I SAY THAT?!
I noticed fear appear in her eyes again and I took a few steps back to show I wouldn't hurt her. "I'll leave you alone. You have to wait for the nurse to check you though, until then you can't leave." I said and quickly left the room, shutting the door behind me.
Why did I do that?! What was wrong with me? I kept making things worse.
I was officially the most horrific mate there ever was and this would be impossible to fix.
I sat there for what seemed like forever until the door finally creaked open. My eyes snapped up to find a worried Yasmin, squishing through the door, not opening it fully.
Her eyes lit up when they landed on me and I gave her a weak smile. "I'm so sorry" She ran over to me and jumped on the bed I was in. A frown appeared on my face as I looked down at her.
"It wasn't your fault" I reassured her, placing my hand on her head and playing with her soft hair. She looked so different from the girl we found that say.
Her clothes were ripped, her long hair was literally a birds nest, she had blood streaming down her face and she was in so much pain. Now she looked like an adorable little princess, it felt good seeing her like this.
"If I was stronger I could have helped," She whined and I shook my head but she just continued, "And it's obviously me that they're after! I'm so so sorry!".
I frowned at how upset she was.
"Yazzy, it's not your fault.... if it is you they're coming for, we're going give them one hell of a fight and we'll be the winners" I shot her a big smile but inside I was sightly worried. Why were they going after her?
I chewed the inside of my cheek until she tugged at my top. "Did you hear me?" She asked and I just blinked. Had she spoken? Shit, I was out of it.
"Sorry... what's up?" I asked, pulling myself into a sitting position and folding my legs over, this time listening intently. She tilted her head momentarily and it made me nervous.
"I said I like the nickname Yazzy... and I asked what's wrong with Asher? He came out of the room and he looked like he had murdered someone" She said and my lips went into a tight line. I looked away, not wanting to explain but I heard a small sigh coming from her to remind me she was there.
"We had a fight" I admitted and she frowned.
"Why?" She asked, pursing her lips and I couldn't help but laugh. She was like some type of love doctor or something.
"Things got a bit heated" I said after a moment and she frowned at my words, clearly not amused at them.
"But he wants you...." I raised my eyebrows at her words, holding back a small laugh. She was so mature for her age although immature at the same time.
"You'll understand-"
"When I'm older?" She crossed her arms and gave me a 'I'm not stupid' look which only caused me to laugh a bit more.
"What happened?" She frowned and I let out a sigh. She really wasn't going to give up so why not tell her.
I explained what happened and when I finally finished she was frowning. "You're both at fault" She said, pushing herself off the bed, "You shouldn't have made him jealous... or said that stuff and he shouldn't have shoved you. I'm sure he didn't mean it".
"Wait where are you going?" I asked as she walked off before turning back to me.
She turned back to me with a face that read 'Isn't it obvious?'. In return to that I just frowned, indicating to her that I didn't understand. She rolled her eyes and let out a small sigh.
"I'm getting Asher" She said finally and I shook my head ferociously, making the room spin around me and causing to wince at the pain. I had to take it easy.
"Don't Yasmin, you don't understand" I tried to tell her but she held up her hand to silence me before leaving the room. When she disappeared my heart dropped when I heard a cry from her, causing me to jump out of bed to run after her, worried for her safety.
My legs gave in from under me, I had surprised them with the sudden jump and they buckled causing me to let out a small yelp as I hit the ground. I looked up, my eyes half closed and saw a worried Yasmin pop her head around the door.
Then Asher.
"Maisie, are you okay?" His voice sounded concerned but I waved his hand away when he held out his hand my eyes focusing on Yasmin.
"What's wrong, why did you cry out?" I asked her and she gave me a quizzical look until she understood what I meant. "Oh I walked into Asher, he was on his way here and I got a fright."
Her face seemed concerned as I tried to push myself off the ground when a firm hand gripped my arm, pulling me up. "Yasmin, could you leave please?" His voice was gruff but emotinless and I couldn't help but to flinch from his touch.
Without saying a word she gave me a look before leaving the room quickly, pulling the door shut behind her. My heart dropped, I was going to give her a long ass lecture later.
"Don't move around too quick, are you trying to get yourselfinjured again?" Asher scolded me, placing me on to the bed but I avoided his gaze.
"I'm sorry Maisie, I let my anger take over... my wolf... he got so jealous that I couldn't handle it" His voice sounded pained that I had to look up and see his expression. It was full of regret.
I bit the inside of my cheek but finally placed my hands on his hands and realised how tense he was but he gradually relaxed under my touch. "I shouldn't have provoked you" I frowned, "But you need to understand.. if I reject you... you have to let me go".
I swallowed a lump in his threat when I felt him tense up again and he didn't respond. "Are you rejecting me?" His voice sounded strained and I met his eyes again. They were upset but had a threatening glint in them.
"I don't know" I admitted truthfully, "I want too. I mean if it wasn't for my stupid wolf, we probably would be at each other's throats and still be rival packs which is why I don't like this, it's like the moon goddess is forcing us to be together".
"Then reject me" His voice was hard now and the words that came from him caught me by surprise. His eyes were narrowed as he watched me carefully, reading my expression.
"I- ok" I said slowly and felt my heart drop slowly, my stomach churning. I felt sick.. Why did I feel sick?
"Say the words... and officially reject me" He growled, "Then I'll know how you really feel". My jaw tightened and my breath became uneven for a minute.
"I, Maisie Ashford, reject-" I stopped momentarily and his expression distorted slightly but he kept his cool.
"I, Maisie Ashford ,reject you, Asher-" I paused, "Do I say Asher or Noah?" I asked and he raised his eyebrows letting out a small sigh. Was I trying to buy myself time, it didn't matter did it?
"Noah or Asher" He responded, his voice showed no emotion. Did he care?
"Okay... I, Maisie Ashford, reject... reject.. you Asher.. Noah... Asher.... I HATE YOU!" I saw a grin form on his face as I shoved him away from me. He backed away but his eyes didn''t leave me once.
"Tell the nurse to hurry-"
"You don't want to reject me" He interuppted me and I returned his comment with a scowl.
"Correction, my wolf doesn't want me to reject you" I growled and he let out a sigh at my stubborness. I pushed myself off the bed and placed my finger on his chest, glaring at him.
"Listen here, 'Mister Alpha', I-"
"You should call me that in bed" He interuppted me again, earning another scowl and my face to become heated and pretty much make me look like a tomato.
"Well you don't want me in bed, remember last time? Adam would-" I stopped, my eyes widening. Was this going to be a replay of last time?
"I don't want to hurt you Maisie and especially in this condition" It was probably an excuse so instead I just folded my arms and rolled my eyes. I heard him chuckle, how did he find this funny?
"Tell the nurse to hurry, I want to go and-" His lips stopped me talking as he placed them against mine. WOULD HE EVER LET ME SPEAK?
He pulled away before I could do anything. "Sorry" He said before brushing his hand through his hair.
"Sorry?" I questioned.
"Yeah, I said I wouldn't kiss you anymore without permission" He shrugged and turned away.
"That's stupid" I responded a bit to quickly, "Not that I care. What? I don't know what I'm saying. I'm confused" I rambled on and noticed him raise one eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Well I'll tell the nurse to hurry but for now I have to get some work done" He said which caused me to frown. Work? Why? He looked out of it, like he hadn't got sleep in ages.
"How much sleep have you caught in the past few days?" My eyes narrowed and he just shrugged. When he noticed I wasn't pleased with his responce he let out a groan.
"Maisie, I've had enough" It was clear he was lying. Having no sleep was really bad for your system, he was going to become, if not already sleep deprived. Why do I care though? Maybe it's because I know it's my fault. Yeah, that's it.
"Sleep. You need it" My voice was stern and he cracked a small smile but shook his head. "Aww look at you being concerned for me" He winked, "But seriously, I can handle it. I've done it before. Now I'll check on you later".
He turned to walk out but I glanced back to the double bed I had been staying in. I grabbed his hand and began tugging him toward it but it was way difficult than I thought. He stopped me in my tracks by pulling me toward him.
"I'm fine" His voice was soft which made me hold his hand tighter. I felt so bad.
"Please" I begged, "Just for a while. You don't even need to sleep just lie down... with me" I said, hoping the last bit would get him to and I smiled when I won and he agreed.
I jumped into the bed, rolling to the left side and pulled him down after me. He kicked off his shows and I pulled the covers over us. "I thought I was just lying down, I don't need covers" He commented but I told him to shush.
I could see he was tense, deciding whether it was the right decision to relax or go to work. I pushed him down onto his back and straddled him, leaning over so I was facing him. "Don't make me sit on you all the time. You're staying".
"Please get off me Maisie" His voice was hard and he closed his eyes, "You don't want to excite me do you?" I quickly jumped off him and let him calm down before resting my head on the pillow.
I wasn't tired but as long as this would let him catch soe Z's I was okay with it. I let out a surprised cry when I felt his strong arm wrap around me and pull me toward him so my head was against his chest.
I would be lying if I said I didn't want to pull up his shirt just to gaze at his body. He may be a dick but his body was amazing.
"You're going to start drooling if you don't stop staring. Don't worry though, I enjoy feeling your boobs against me." I jumped slighty when I heard Asher's teasing voice but just scowled at him, hitting him lightly with my hand.
"Just take a nap" I growled as I rested my head properly on his chest, feelingit move up and down from him chuckling. I rolled my eyes and let out a frustarted groan but he finally stopped and obediently shut his eyes.
After what seemed to be only one second I heard his light snores, his breath tickling me whenever he breathed out. I took in the scent of his clothes and felt my body vibrate slightly.
Stupid.
I didn't even realise that I had been nodding off to sleep aswell until my eyes shut fully and fell into dreamland.
