AS THE BRUNET MAN sat on the meadow he stared into the starry night sky. The heavenly bodies that filled the airspace and that took its place after the descent of the horizon simply looked euphoric. It's illumination lit the pathways of the cities, radiating the dark streets and alleyways. Although the temperature wasn't cold that night, he wished there was a gust of wind that could blow in his direction. Maybe it could cool his racing heart, or reassure him that everything will go perfectly fine that night. He could spot the brightest star in the distance, outshining the rest of its duplicates.

The strangest occurrences happen at night. It's where the evil grins with dark souls appear, leaving their final marks as waves of smoke. But this wasn't the instance for Theo. Instead, he was electrified. His hazel eyes roamed throughout the skies, and the paintings appeared as jubilant and beautiful as the woman he was deeply in love with. In the dark he was usually hesitant, but tonight it was okay.

He could spot her frame from miles away. She looked comfortable in her denim jeans and hoodie, but he didn't care what she wore. His eyes stayed on her beautiful face throughout the whole time she walked towards him. In an instance, he arose, meeting her in the middle.

The only light that was present was the moonlight. And although it wasn't the sun, it revealed her features marvelously. There were wisps of her baby hairs as if she rushed to get there quickly. The field was empty and Theo was thankful for it. He didn't want anyone else to observe the start of their future.

The silence came off in waves. Their eyes rested on each other, taking in the special moment with ease. Theo was mesmerized by the remarkable aura that Satoria had. One second in her presence was enough to brighten his spirits, and that's when he knew―it was time.

Both of their hands were by their sides, and he raised his to encircle hers. Theodore felt the softness that met his palm and he couldn't help but to lean forward and place a small kiss on her forehead in greeting, "You look so beautiful. I missed you." he whispered, looking deep into her eyes.

"I guess I missed you too." Satoria replied, and Theo's eyes lightened at her response.

"I hope I didn't stress you out too much. I'm sorry if I did." He said, the realization of how he just barged into her home after a nice shower filled his thoughts and he couldn't help but to feel guilty of his actions.

"You're fine. If anything, it took a lot of stress off of me. Maybe some thinking and acceptance will make life a lot easier."

Theo was quick to respond, "Anything with you makes living a lot easier for me."

Satoria's eyes widened at his bluntness but she covered it with a chuckle, "That's cute, and it's smooth."

"I just can't lose you again." Theo smiled.

"And you won't."

Her choice of words did it's job at reassuring his heart. He did a mental check before the 'date' if that's what you'd call it. If she's not necessarily cold to him then maybe she chose the decision that would make him happy. If not, then she just wants to keep the vibe of the conversation nice and smooth. Theo hated his mind for running at thousands of miles per hour, but he simply couldn't help it.

Theo felt bitter. He couldn't put his thoughts into words. It was hard for him to simply explain the amount of longing he felt in his heart as he stared deeply into her eyes. He wanted her love and her affection. But he knew he didn't deserve it. If anything, he deserved her hatred and coldness like before. And he was thankful that she was talking to him with her voice filled with much warmth.

"You're the only thing that's been on my mind since the talk."

He continued, "Thinking about you is the only thing keeping me going. All I've been doing is staring at the tattoo we got as kids," he paused to release a chuckle, "God, we were so stupid, but it might've been one of the best decision of my life."

Then, his eyes narrowed into her eyes as he lifted his other hand to caress her cheek. He had this....glimmer in his eyes. It was the same look he remembered his parents giving to each other at his young age. And although he couldn't see himself, he saw the reflection of his hazel eyes in her light brown eyes. "And I want that feeling again."

Her hand went to caress the sight of his tattoo, sighing softly, "We were dumb and in love."

"But that's what makes it better."

There was a halt in the conversation before she looked back into his eyes and Theo swore he saw a flicker of understanding, "Your eyes."

Theo's eyebrows furrowed at her words, "What about them?"

"They look....brighter." She licked her lips, getting a little closer to his body. And Theo could feel a rosy patch coming to his cheeks. Her smell overwhelmed his sensibility. "They're usually this bright hazel and it gets lighter whenever you're happy, but now it's different. Instead of a light brown with dark green and honey. There's an emerald green with a hint of gold."

Theo smiled and leaned forward to peck her nose, "Tori, it's because of you." He leaned back and rubbed his nose on hers, giving her an eskimo kiss, "You make me feel like I'm on cloud fucking nine."

He then grabbed her and led her to the patch of grass he sat on before her arrival. Theo expected her to sit next to him with a good amount of space in between but was surprised when he felt her figure sitting on the space next to him. Her head rested on his broad shoulder, making his arm to wrap around her waist.

She rested her hand on his thigh and stared at the bright constellations that rested in the skies, "Out of all the stars in the sky. Which one reminds you of me?"

"After five years you're still random as ever,"

"Just answer the question, young man."

Theo laughed at the little nickname and his eyes spotted a star that laid in the middle of the sky. It seemed to be the smallest, but it happened to outshine the rest of the bright orbs that surrounded it. He lifted his arm and pointed at the easiest one the could be spotted, "That one for sure,"

Satoria snorted, "The brightest one there, huh? How cliché, Mr. Porter."

"Although you differ from many others―that's not the only reason why I chose that one."

"Then give me a really good explanation. There's a star in the corner, doesn't that one look pretty?"

"I like the one that I chose though."

"Elaborate."

"Because no matter how far you are. And no matter how many miles away you are away from me. You still find a way back to me." He stopped his words and turned his head to face hers, "Even if you're big or small, I can't be away from you."

"That....is honestly really sweet. I'll give it to you."

"Oh really?"

"Really."

"Took you long enough."

Theo rolled his eyes in amusement as Tori pinched his thigh playfully, "Shut up."

The pair became silent again as they continued to rest their eyes in the pitch–black sky. The air wasn't uncomfortable, but it was a little tense. Both of them had the knowledge that they still had some situations to clear up before they could be what they wanted to be.

Theo interrupted the tranquility, "I know I've already said this but I'm really sorry." he laid his head on hers, "I was just...scared." The rosy patch from before grew and he was silently thankful that she agreed to meet at night so that it wasn't as visible.

"Scared of what, Theo? I thought―" she swallowed harshly, her voice wavering as she responded, "I thought we were supposed to be forever."

Theo was quick to grab the side of her face and turn them to face each other, "No no we are forever. I was so stupid. You were beautiful―you are so beautiful and I was just so insecure that it blinded me into thinking you'd find someone better."

"And I felt the same way, but I didn't let that come in the way of who we were, Theodore."

Satoria wasn't lying. Although he was broken–hearted he couldn't imagine how Tori felt. He broke up with her without even looking her in the eye and speaking to her in the first place.

Theo could sense the building anger behind her words as her voice began to rise, "You're right. And I'm so sorry. Words can't explain how stupid I was. You can flick my forehead if it makes you feel any better."

"Damn right." Satoria scoffed, but her voice got softer, "But I understand how you felt. I just wish you told me instead of ending it so fast―and no I'm not flicking you. I don't want to see you hurt." She mumbled, burying her face into his shoulder.

"I think I forgive you." Tori told him, "But if we're doing this again I don't want to rush into things."

Theo was happy.

Although they weren't together officially. It was still content with her body by his side. She forgave him, and not only that, she wanted to give him another chance. Even though Satoria didn't give him her full trust, this could be his possibility of finally making that happen.

"I completely understand that, Tori. I'm just happy you're giving me another chance."

"Well, maybe your charm did work on me."

Theo snickered and rose to his feet, making sure to bring his lover with him. He gently grabbed her hand, reassuring her with his eyes after he saw the confusing look on her face, and intertwined them together, "Can we dance?" He asked, a kid–like grin coming to his face.

"I don't hear a single note of music."

"Who said we need music to dance?"

He got her there.

Soon enough, their bodies began to sway and moved on one accord. Their figures moved to their left and then to their right, swaying with their eyes closed in euphoria. Satoria rested her head on his chest and Theo hummed at the feeling in appreciation, laying his head on hers like they were while sitting down on the meadow. Swaying in the midst of the dark where evil things come out to prey on people's minds, but the two were each other's light. They shined together to form a barrier of protection. And it was a protection filled with love.

"Forever." He mumbled into her hair.

"Do you mean it this time?"

It was a simple question that could have had a simple answer. For Theo, the answer was quick and honest. He's been thinking about it for longer than just a few days. But the way Satoria asked the question made him want to curl her into a hug and cuddle her for a week. She seemed nervous and unconfident about the situation. But he made a mental note to make sure to change that.

"I mean it when I say forever."

Starting now.

"Except this time, it's forever and then some."

Satoria didn't reply, but he could tell there was a smile coming onto her face.

"Can I kiss you?" Theo whispered.

Tori raised her head from its resting position and stared deep into his eyes. Her heart warmed up at the sight of the love of her life, "Yes."

Their lips met in the middle, caressing one another with a certain tenderness that was filled with fondness. They both felt a smile come to their lips at the special moment that filled the night. Their noses brushed against each other, and their eyes fluttering shut from the passion encasing their surroundings.

Satoria pulled away but still made their lips touch, "And Theo?"

"Satoria?"

"I love you too."

From the beginning, the both of them knew the dangers of the world. That it was a dark and cruel place filled with the evil people who didn't care about anyone but themselves. In the night, they come out to hurt others. But together, they make a light with a barrier of protectiveness fueled by the wonders of love.

They were forever and then some.

Tori and Theo.
