Su Siyu's face turned to blue, red, then white. He was already prepared to keep on fighting in spite of all the setbacks. At this time, he was spurned and ignored, but still, he could not stand the slightest hesitation, so he turned around and chased after him.

"Yan Sui!" Su Siyu stopped Yan Sui, who had taken his car key and was about to go to his car.

Yan Sui frowned again. He did not want to be involved with Su Siyu at all. Now that his marriage partner was Meng Ting, they no longer have any relationship so there was no need for them to contact each other anymore in the future.

Moreover, as far as what he knew, when He Wan and the Su family discussed the marriage, the one who was against it the most was Su Siyu himself. Because of this, the marriage was delayed, again and again, and Meng Ting's emergence gave He Wan a better choice.

When the marriage between the Yans and the Sus was canceled, he thought that Su Siyu was satisfied.

In the afternoon, he made Madame Su persuade him and at night, he used Gu Lang to invite him to the clubhouse.

Yan Sui stopped and turned around. His sharp phoenix eyes slightly narrowed, then his anger overflowed, "What are you doing?

Su Siyu had no choice but to say that with this Yan Sui, he also felt somewhat fearful, but with his heart's strong obsession over him, it made him ignore all of these fears. In the end, he chose to say, "I regret it. I'm willing to marry you."

However, Yan Sui did not regret that his marriage partner becoming Meng Ting. In fact, he should say he was satisfied. Furthermore, he had to admit that there were even little signs that he was growing fond of him.

Looking at Yan Sui's unmoved look, Su Siyu continued, "I know it's too late for me to regret, but I won't give up. Yan Sui, I want to pursue you."

He wanted to see Yan Sui become fascinated with him — to get his passionate and desirous look on him. He wanted them to start again. He wanted them to have a happy ending. There was once a time when he did not know that he missed that Yan Sui who was so good to him. This time, he did not want to miss that moment again.

"I used to be a really bad person, but I can change. I want to change for you."

Su Siyu's eyes reddened and looked like he was about to cry. If it were someone else, they would have already pulled such beauty in their embrace, but Yan Sui did not feel anything. No matter what, Su Siyu still had some regret as he said earlier that he was already too late.

"You and I won't have any relationship other than the sons of old family friends. You don't need to change anything for me."

Even if it was Meng Ting, Yan Sui also thought that he did not need to change anything for himself. Even in the future, if Meng Ting would perhaps want to leave him and find a suitable opportunity, he would let go. Of course, this was just his thoughts at this moment. It did not take long before he knew how silly and opinionated this idea was.

"My fiancée is Meng Ting and he will be my future wife."

Yan Sui's tone was an affirmation that he was cutting off their relationship. To Su Siyu, what he said could be regarded as something heartless; but in Meng Ting's point of view, he could say that all of these things were for the deeply rooted feelings — as if they had been in love for a long time.

However, Su Siyu knew that promise was Yan Sui's promise to his future wife, regardless whoever was in that position. He was that someone who had been treated good by Yan Sui, but he made a wrong decision. He tried to be clever only to end up with a blunder, which had allowed others to covet his position.

After Yan Sui stopped talking, he did not stop him again. He turned to his car and quickly drove off, away from the street where the club was located, leaving Su Siyu behind with regret, unwillingness and even faint resentment.

The moon hid with its stars as it set. The color of the sky changed from dark to light. Meng Ting still woke up at five o'clock in the morning. For a moment, he was half-awake, but soon afterwards, his eyes opened wide. His whole person stared blankly in that place.

Last night... He did not seem to have nightmares, did he? Was it because Yan Sui hugged him? This must be the case!

Honestly speaking, he was not completely without a nightmare. At least he was not awakened by a nightmare, instead, he woke up naturally. This was very rare for Meng Ting.

Meng Ting was so delighted. His whole person exuded happiness, to the point that he was rolling on his bed like a child. Ever since he had known that he was reborn more than a month ago, this was the first time he woke up feeling good.

"Tonight, I want Yan Sui to hold me more for a while."

After Meng Ting decided that, he changed his clothes and started his morning run around the Meng's residence. Since he was in good spirits, he ran a little more.

Generally speaking, from five o'clock to six o'clock in the morning, except for those servants who woke up early, only a few of the Mengs' main family members had awoken. After he ran back, he saw Meng Qi who could not stop yawning. He also changed into his sportswear and looked like he was going to run.

Meng Ting took a quick look at him, then he took his gaze back on his way and continued going back. However, instead of going back to his room, he went to the kitchen first. He still had to get sandwiches and milk, but this time, he only took one instead of two.

The person that Yan Sui sent would come around eight or nine o'clock, but he was hungry now, and the kitchen Auntie was also quite good. She was willing to give him some food, and in return, Meng Ting would help her in the kitchen by bringing the trash outside.

"Why do you do this kind of thing?" Meng Qi asked.

Usually, Meng Qi did not exercise during the day but mostly at night. He got up so early so that he could encounter Meng Ting, but Meng Ting woke up much earlier than him. Because of this, he was not able to meet him. Meng Ting had already run back, so naturally, Meng Qi would not run anymore.

He yawned and threw his arm behind Meng Ting. He was really curious about such a beautiful younger brother, but he did not expect him to do such a thing.

Meng Ting held a huge garbage bag with one hand, then turned his head to look at Meng Qi. He saw him obediently maintaining a three-step distance from him. He continued to walk toward the door. About half a minute later, he replied to what Meng Qi had said: "I wanted breakfast, so naturally, I had to work."

He was not the same as Meng Qi and the other legitimate sons in the family. Even though he was unclear of the differences, it did not affect what he needed to know. Such as, when it came to meal times. [1]

([1] The author only mentioned "the meal situation". The author was probably referring to, no one gives him food to eat since he returned to Meng family. Which is mentioned below.)

"What about lunch and dinner?" Meng Qi randomly asked when he remembered he did not see Meng Ting coming downstairs when he waited yesterday during lunch time.

This time, Meng Ting did not answer because he simply did not want to expose Yan Sui. If by any chance Meng Qi blew the whistle on him, he would not be given food to eat again.

Meng Ting threw the trash into the bin before he walked back, while a contemplating expression remained on Meng Qi's face.

After he walked further, Meng Ting suddenly stopped walking. Then, he spoke in hindsight as he glared at Meng Qi in extreme vigilance. "I... I won't take food anymore. You don't need to spy on me."

As for the food that was already taken and eaten, it was simply impossible for him to return them to Meng Qi.

Upon hearing that, Meng Qi carried a helpless expression where he did not know whether he should laugh or cry. "No one told you the dinning rules of this house?"

Seven o'clock in the morning to eight o'clock, eleven o'clock to noon and seven to eight o'clock in the evening were the meal times. No one will wait for late comers.

Just as Meng Qi was about to continue to advise him the dinning rules, Meng Ting shook his head. However, it was not for the reason that Meng Qi thought.

"No need. None of you have the obligation to provide any food to me to begin with."

Meng Qi finally noticed that as much as how foolish Meng Ting was, there were parts of his nerves that was rather stubborn. He could not be easily coaxed. Who and what kind of people were instilling his mind with this type of sophistries?!

Perhaps he should think about how badly the days fared for Meng Ting in the past.

"Don't follow me anymore!" Meng Ting squinted his eyes as he spoke, while he waved his fist as a threat if Meng Qi was going to follow him.

Meng Qi stopped walking. With a face full of aggressiveness and helplessness, he did not follow Meng Ting again.

Meng Qi considered for a while before he turned his course and seeked out Uncle Wen. After some investigation, they realized that Meng Ting did not have anything to eat on the first day when he arrived in the house. The next day, the kitchen hand only gave him two servings of sandwiches rather than giving him a proper meal. As for yesterday...it was someone from the Gus who brought him a decent meal for him to eat.

After finding out the truth, Uncle Wen's face was flushed from shame since he rarely made mistakes. He and Meng Qi were very concerned, simply because Meng Ting was not the same anymore. He was the one who will be marrying into Yans. For this exact reason, there was utterly no room for negligence when treating Meng Ting.

However, the result remained the same when Uncle Wen contacted the Gus. The arrangement was to deliver three meals a day to Meng Ting. This vaguely revealed that it was actually Yan Sui's intention.

After Old Master Meng's announcement, nothing happened or changed. Asking Meng Ting to establish deep relationships with the Mengs within only half a month was impossible. He also did not expect Meng Ting to side with the Mengs after he would marry into the Yans. In his master plan, Meng Ting was merely used as a bridge to tap into the Yan empire.

In the evening, taking the advantage of the time when the servant brought food to Meng Ting's room, Meng Qi appeared at the doorway again. This time, he did not wait for Meng Ting to throw him out. He spoke first.

"I have news about Yan Sui. Do you want to hear it?"

Meng Ting's hand paused its motion. Indeed, he stopped closing the door on him after hearing those words.

"Last night, Su Siyu confessed to him at the clubhouse. The entire city of Haicheng knows about this already. I'm afraid only you might not be aware of this." Meng Qi expressed coldly, but his coldness was not directed at Meng Ting. Instead, it was directed at Su Siyu and Yan Sui.

It was obvious, Su Siyu dumped Meng Qi before because he had his eyes on Yan Sui and now, Su Siyu wanted to snatch his little brother's future husband.

Meng Ting looked at him while calmness remained in his eyes. Of course, that might all be because his reaction was slow. He simply did not fully understand the meaning of Meng Qi's words.

"Stop staying in your room all day long like a dummy. Because you wouldn't even know the day when your husband's stolen by someone else."

"Are you done?"

While Meng Qi was still in hesitation, the door slammed right before him — causing a gust of wind to blow on his face — which made his face a little sore. As he was also frightened by that, he remained speechless for a while before he knocked on Meng Ting's door again. "There's a banquet at the Zhongs' tonight. Yan Sui should be going too. If you want to go, just be downstairs at seven o'clock."

He stood there for a while, but when he did not hear any responses from Meng Ting, he left the third floor with a darkened face. Not soon after, the door next to Meng Ting's room opened. It was Meng Xiao, he leaned against the door for a moment and sneered coldly before he closed his door again.

As for Meng Ting, after he made sure Meng Qi had left, he grabbed his phone and made the call after he deliberated for a moment.

Although he was stupid, it was not to the point where he did not understand the other's words. Unless those words were too strange and unheard of.

"Yan Sui." Once the call was connected, Meng Ting immediately called out his name, with a voice that carried in dense anxiety that could not be dispersed.

Yan Sui was startled and he immediately asked, "What's wrong?"

"Yan Sui, do you already like someone else?" He was too anxious to get married where he have not had the chance to consider whether Yan Sui already had someone in mind or not. Although he was anxious, he still felt that people who were in love should be together. He did not want to be the bad guy to break them up.

There was not a flaw in Yan Sui. But if he likes someone else, then it would be better for them not to get married.

Yan Sui remained silent for a moment before he answered, "No."

It was undeniable that he was somewhat attracted and fond of Meng Ting, but it was not the same type of fondness that Meng Ting was asking about.

Meng Ting released his breath in relief. His whole body started to relax. As he was too nervous before, causing a vague stiffness to remain in the arm — that clutched tightly onto the mobile phone — even after he had relaxed.

"That's good then."

Meng Ting called out again, "Yan Sui."

He was a bit hesitant about the words he wanted to say.

"Yeah?"

"Then, can you like me?" Since he felt it was better to get married only when two people have feelings for each other. In turn, it would ideal if he liked Yan Sui and Yan Sui liked him back. "Yan Sui, I want to like you."

Meng Ting was emotionally straightforward so that he made Yan Sui feel somewhat helpless. Through the phone, he could feel that Meng Ting was determined. He was just like a moth flying into a flame — his determination was out of strong fondness.

"I must've troubled you..."

Yan Sui did not say anything for a long time and this made Meng Ting gloomy. He was really holding this phone call in all sincerity, so he asked once again, "In that case, you can't like others before you decide that you don't like me, can you?"

Meng Ting was very concerned about that Su Siyu, who suddenly appeared and confessed to Yan Sui. He made a noise so that it was made known to the entire city. He had not heard this name before, but he knew it now.

"Be good." In fact, when Yan Sui was asked this question by Meng Ting, he was thinking about it. However, all of the emotions brought about by Meng Ting's question were fermented in his heart. For a moment, he forgot to answer.

"Yeah," Meng Ting nodded gently. This was all right. Being too greedy would be annoying and for the moment, he was fighting for a chance for himself and Yan Sui — waiting for a chance for them to like each other.

"Why do you want to ask these?"

After making sure that Meng Ting had no more questions, Yan Sui also had time to ask this question he should have asked earlier.

Meng Ting did not hesitate for a moment and sold Meng Qi out. He repeated Meng Qi's words to Yan Sui, but he did not panic when he heard it. Compared with Meng Qi's words, he would rather believe what Yan Sui told him.

"Yan Sui, you didn't accept his confession, right?" If he accepted it, then Yan Sui would surely be able to tell him that he has someone that he liked.

"I don't like him."

Yan Sui wanted to give clearer words to Meng Ting. He did not have any feelings for Su Siyu, nor was there any possibility of developing any feelings for him.

Su Siyu's realm of affection was too rich. What Su Siyu wanted was not what Yan Sui wanted. Not only did they have two parallel lines of life, but they also did not have the same concept of affection. Meng Ting saw that he and Su Siyu were not much different, but they were actually not the same. At least Yan Sui's feelings toward Meng Ting were totally different from his feelings toward Su Siyu. As for how far they could go, Yan Sui was also unable to ensure it for now.

"I'll bear that in mind," said Meng Ting, who was thoroughly relieved. All of the worries in his voice had disappeared.

Yan Sui heaved a sigh of relief. He lowered his tone, then continued to talk to Meng Ting, "I also want it to be like this time in the future. If you have any doubts, call me directly."

If he was able to let Meng Ting know, he would tell him directly. If he could not say it, then he would also say that he could not tell him. Without having any third person involved to deliver the message, there would be fewer misunderstandings between them.

"Okay," Meng Ting replied. He also felt that this way was good. "You, too. If you want to ask me about anything, I'll also tell you."

Meng Ting said those words particularly slow, as if he was in slight deliberation and late awareness. He was thinking about himself being reborn. He could tell him about other things except for this one — he should never say it. He did not want to be regarded as a monster. He especially did not want Yan Sui to look at him like that. However, Yan Sui regarded this slow reaction as a sign that he was earnest. His face eased up and his tone was the same, "As for the Zhongs' banquet, if you'll go there, I'll come over."

"Okay," Meng Ting nodded, then he pondered over it before he said, "I'll wait for you."

Yan Sui paused for a moment before he responded to him with an "Okay." This waiting also included waiting for him to like Meng Ting.

"It will not be too long."

"I don't mind. I can wait." Even if Yan Sui was busy and he could not come, it did not matter for Meng Ting, since they would be married soon. There was still thirteen days left. Meng Ting could wait.

Their brainwaves suddenly changed the subject and they continued to talk for a bit. Meng Ting switched the phone off, ate dinner, and chose a black suit in the closet to put on. He went downstairs at around seven o'clock in the evening.

On the first floor, there was not only Meng Qi in the living room. Meng Xiao was also there. As for Meng Jiang and Meng Bo, they had something to do and left in the morning. Meng Qin also had her own date. She did not leave until five o'clock in the afternoon. They would come back next time. There should also be an event next Saturday night. Meng Xiao had his twentieth birthday in March. He was a full three years older than Meng Ting. He was obviously not as good as the other men in the Meng Family. He was even slightly shorter than Meng Ting. He relied on clothes, so he used a well-known brand, making him appear to be a handsome youth.

Meng Xiao walked beside Meng Qi and Meng Ting, and this made him completely reduced to a foil. Meng Qi's presence as the Eldest Young Master of the Mengs was there. This kind of extravagance was something that he could not bring to his family in a few years. Meng Ting was born with a good face. Black was befitting to his temperament more than white and that kind of gloom made him look mysterious and even more outstanding.

This kind of contrast was too obvious that Meng Ting himself felt it, too.

Out of the gate, Meng Qi took Meng Ting to sit in his car, but it was to let Meng Xiao drive by himself. His face was even worse. He gave Meng Ting a wink, but it was a pity that Meng Ting completely ignored him.

With his previous experience, Meng Ting did not want to sit with Meng Qi, nor did he want to have anything to do with Meng Qi. However, Meng Qi had decided, so Meng Ting made his way into the car.

"It isn't good to take him with us. He never gave me face and doesn't consider his own status."

After Meng Qi got into the car, he immediately muttered. He recalled that Meng Ting was still sitting beside him. He continued saying to remedy the situation: "You're different from him. You're my senior family branch's person and my dear younger brother."

He never said anything like this to any of his other brothers in the Meng Family before. Meng Ting, who was being told to in this manner, did not even bother to glance at him. However, contrary to expectation, the other's beauty was picturesque — Meng Qi actually wanted to be angry, yet he could not. When he recalled Meng Zhong and Uncle Wen's neglect of duty, he gave a few more words to Meng Ting: "Since you're going to be married to the Yans' patriarch, Yan Sui, there're a few things that you ought to know."

Meng Ting originally did not plan to pay attention to Meng Qi, but as soon as he heard the two words 'Yan Sui,' he began to listen carefully. Meng Qi noticed that he was treated differently this time. Because of this, he felt like his tooth was aching, but he still continued to speak: "There's a lot of rich people in Haicheng, but not all of them can be really counted as wealthy aristocrats. We, the Mengs, are considered as one. There's also the Gu Family wherein you went to last time, our Third Aunt's Han Family, then the Su Family, the Lin Family and so on. The old and new ones would add up to twenty or thirty families."

Meng Qi took another glance at Meng Ting. He saw his uncaring expression and there was not even a bit of reaction. Last night, he could sense that he was not interested, but now, he knew that his beautiful younger brother was still digesting this information, and that he needed to wait for him to respond at least after ten minutes.

In any case, it was senseless, but he could wait.

Thirteen minutes later, Meng Ting slightly grimaced, glanced at Meng Qi, and let out an "Oh."

Meng Qi held his breath and almost suffocated himself to death, waiting for such a long time for this response. This was the so-called 'the bigger the expectation, the greater the disappointment.'

He lightly groaned, then he said, "Did you not hear? Just now, I didn't mention the Yan Family. The Yan Family is different from these old or new wealthy aristocrats. The Yans and the Zhongs of Haicheng, the Xus of Licheng, and the Xiaos of Beicheng are Xia's [1] top four wealthiest and most influential families. Now we are going to go to the Zhongs, one of the top four wealthy families."

([1] The fictional country created by the author for this story.)

They were in the same level as the Yans, and the other nobles from Haicheng were undoubtedly dependent on or wanted to attach themselves to these two families [2]. Those particular nobles also have obvious factions amongst themselves.

([2] The Yan and Zhong Families.)

The Meng Family was originally in the same faction as the Zhong Family. Now, because of Meng Ting, they were considered to be changing factions into the Yan family's side. There was nothing wrong with this because when the Mengs was on the same side as with the Zhongs, they did not get special prestige. it was not strange if Old Master Meng changed his mind. The Zhongs and the Yans were not enemies who totally isolated themselves from each other. The connections between the four great wealthy and powerful families was much more complicated than what could be seen by the outsiders. Yan Sui's paternal grandmother was the younger sister of the current patriarch of the Xus from Licheng. When she married into Haicheng, that ostentation and extravagance still made others dwell upon with great relish until this day. There was also a lot of marriage between extended family members.

"Oh," Meng Ting responded quite fast to Meng Qi this time. When he noticed that Meng Qi had nothing else to say, he nodded and said: "Thank you."

He did not know about these things and he really should be aware of these. Meng Qi told him about these things so he had to thank him.

After Meng Qi got his thanks, his heart was a little bit eased. At long last, he was not some "white-eyed wolf [3]." He turned to look outside the window, then said: "Our senior family branch is different from the second family branch. If you get really close to that side, you'll know how terrible they are."

([3]「白眼狼」literally translates to this. It means an "ingrate" or "thankless wretch.")

They would just squeeze Meng Ting for all his worth. They might not let him go. Meng Ting still agreed with this statement. His previous life experiences was exactly a proof for this. He worked like he was "squeezed" into a useless "waste."

Meng Qi saw Meng Ting obediently nodding from his reflection in the car window. Meng Qi's claws were a bit itchy, but he remembered the pain in his abdomen that had not disappeared yet. Because of this, he silently restrained himself from his desire to make a move.

This time, the party venue was closer than the last one. In about half an hour, they would get out of the car.

When they got out of the car, Meng Xiao also arrived and he did not make them wait. The three entered the Zhongs' residence together. After a short walk, Meng Qi suddenly turned around. Meng Xiao's eyes were filled with schemes. Meng Ting, who was immersed in following Meng Qi walk, was quite surprised seeing that he stopped. Meng Qi took a glimpse at Meng Ting, then he looked at Meng Xiao. He then said: "You can go play by yourself. This is Meng Ting's first time to come here. I'll show him around."

"Okay," said Meng Xiao. Although he was unwilling to do so, being able to come in here was his biggest gain today. He did not have to follow Meng Qi anyway.

"To take the position as the wife of the Yans' patriarch, you'd have to learn a lot more things."

He Wan's intentions could be personally seen and she could not be dissatisfied with Meng Ting. He was an orphan and harshly treated by his grandmother and was isolated for three years in senior high school. Even a normal person would become different if they experienced what he had been through, not to mention Meng Ting clearly suffered from congenital deficiencies.

Letting such person sit in the position of the patriarch's wife — how could that be good for Yan Sui? How could it be beneficial? Meng Ting could not let Yan Sui be a joke because of himself — even if he had to overcome his limitations.

As Meng Qi had said, if he really wanted to be a good "wife," there were so many things that he had to learn. Meng Ting followed Meng Qi walk around. Those previously heated emotions were cooled out by a basin of cold water called "reality," seeping coldness through his mind.

Meng Qi looked down at him. Meng Ting was obviously feeling an utmost sense of loss — yet this was the reality. Not only did he and Yan Sui have a gap in their status, but they also had a gap in their education and ability. For ordinary people, this distance was said to be like the wide gap between heaven and earth — it was difficult to stride across, not to mention Meng Ting.

It was Meng Qi's first time to have this rare "good intention," and he also did not want to use too much force.

"Follow me to the garden. The Zhongs' garden was remodeled on the ruins of the old palace."

Meng Ting still has not nodded yet when the noisy hall suddenly became very quiet. This was usually the moment when the Zhongs' patriarch would come out, but instead, it was Yan Sui who came.

In fact, he has been here for a while, but he was in the Zhongs' patriarch's study all along. When he came out from the study, he would stop from time to time to exchange greetings with many people while he was on his way, otherwise, Meng Ting should have seen him sooner.

In this hall, there were a lot of pampered sons of wealthy families and noble young ladies who were talking. Everyone were dressed in their best clothes as they raised their hands and lifted their feet with elegance, but the only exception was Meng Ting.

Yan Sui and the person on his side gently bowed then he walked toward Meng Ting. The crowd consciously separated to make way for him. He stopped in front of Meng Ting. Yan Sui raised his hand and finally placed it on top of Meng Ting's head.

"What's up? Did you wait long?"

Feeling the warm hand on top of his head, Meng Ting lifted his eyes as he looked upon him. He softly pressed his lips together before a slight smile emerged on his face.

"You've arrived."

Including the time when Yan Sui brought him supper, this time was only the third time they had met; but it was impossible to tell that they had only known each for a short span of time, judging by their familiarity and closeness.

Meng Ting stared at Yan Sui's hand while he felt all types of complex emotions deep within.

This beautiful little brother of Meng Qi — it appeared he had already captured Yan Sui's heart even though he had not even married him yet, and he allowed Yan Sui to touch his head, while Meng Qi would get punched as soon as he touched his hand. The treatment was indeed way too different.

The people that were more dumbfounded than Meng Qi were the crowd of onlookers in the hall. When Meng Qi walked around to greet them with Meng Ting, they did not make any innuendo about Meng Ting's identity as an illegitimate son, but they purposely, or perhaps... Unconsciously displayed a sense of alienation which, in turn, discriminated and segregated Meng Ting from the rest of them.

They wanted Meng Ting to understand that he would never be able to assimilate into their circle. Furthermore, they would never lower their style and status for him either.

When the alienation lingered, Yan Sui showed them otherwise — as if slapping their faces. A guy like him was even treating a person with such affection, what right did the rest of them have to act like snobs while alienating and drawing a demarcation line toward Meng Ting?!

Yan Sui's pupils darkened as his gaze swept to Meng Qi who was standing beside Meng Ting. Thereafter, the hand that was on top of Meng Ting's head moved down to hold his arms. In seconds, Yan Sui slid his hand down further before he took hold of his hand.

"Come with me. Let's go for a walk?"

"Okay." Meng Ting held onto his hand as well before he lightly nodded. Subsequently, he was led out of the hall by Yan Sui in front of multitudes of gazes.

After walking away from the hall for a while, Yan Sui still did not let go of his hand. When he was certain no one in the surrounding area could hear their words, he paused his footsteps, while conveniently pulling Meng Ting to a stop, too. All the while, the hand that was holding onto Meng Ting's hand still did not let go.

Meng Ting's face was very good-looking; however, his hand was not that great-looking. The palm of his right hand had a long and thin scar. There were also some small scars between the knuckles. Some were probably from a long time ago and some were left from not long ago.

The information he knew about Meng Ting flashed by in his mind. Initially, he felt it was very detailed, but that did not seem enough anymore. At the very least, the information when he was isolated for three years during high school was way too vague.

"Can you tell me now why you're not happy?"

Meng Ting did not think Yan Sui was that sharp, where he was able to see the tiniest of unhappiness that was left in him.

The lights in his eyes had sunken slightly as they moved toward their entangled hands. He eventually spoke after a long while.

"Yan Sui, I feel you'll regret what you've promised before."

"I'm probably more stupid than what I've told you. No, it's a lot more stupid."

At first, he thought as long as he tried with utmost effort to treat Yan Sui well after he married him, then everything would be fine. However, reality showed him — that would not be remotely enough. In his mind, he was not good enough for Yan Sui. He was far from it. There was an immeasurable distance between him and being a qualified "wife."

"There are things I might not be able to learn how to do it, ever."

Feeling utterly dispirited, if only he was smarter, even just by a tiny bit, then him and Yan Sui would not have a gulf in between them where it was impossible to leap over. If he was smarter, at the most, he merely needed to work harder and take a bit of detour — to get there.

"Such as?" Yan Sui listened as he remained calm as usual, while the corner of his eyes emerged with traces of gentle creases from the smile. At that very moment, he was no longer cold, he was warm and gentle. Unknowingly, Meng Ting had given him warmth and gentleness.

"Such as, speaking." When he faced occasions where he had to speak, either he would say something wrong or he would not be able to speak a single word.

"Such as, fake smile...." It was not possible for him to learn that type of smile. For him, if one was truly unhappy, why was there a need to smile at all?!

"Also, everything they understand, I don't." The fashion or the brand... In Meng Ting's eyes, the difference was merely long sleeve or short sleeve and summer or winter clothes.

He thought to himself before he added another line, as if he had accepted his misfortune, "Even if you got someone to teach me, I won't be able to get it. I'm too stupid."

Meng Ting was still afraid to look at Yan Sui's face, he was afraid to see regret in his expressions. Even he, himself, felt it was only rightful for Yan Sui to go back on his promise. Or perhaps, for Yan Sui, the earlier he resiled the wiser he would be; stopping, in the nick of time, the loss from occurring by not marrying such a stupid person as him.

Yan Sui used his other hand to comfort Meng Ting's face, then he moved his hand down below his chin, raising the head that had been hanging low.

"I've said this before, I will not go back on my promise." Previously, it was because of He Wan, but from now on — it was not. He looked toward Meng Ting's eyes that had suddenly opened wider, while he attentively differentiated the color and radiance beneath those eyes, causing a faint smile to emerge, yet again.

"Who said you're stupid?"

"A lot of people have said that..." Except for the tutor from the university. The people he had encountered, even if they did not say it, it was clear from their attitude that this was what they thought. Regardless of how well he was able to blend and harmonize perfumes, those people still looked at him pitifully.

In fact, he truly did not like that type of pitifulness.

"I don't think you are." Yan Sui's thumb slowly moved upward, just as it was about to touch Meng Ting's cherry colored lips, he pulled back. "Every one of us are good at certain things and aren't expert on certain things. It's just that you haven't found something you're truly great at yet."

Yan Sui let loose of his hands and held onto his shoulders instead, then he continued. "Even if you don't find what you are great at in this lifetime, it doesn't matter. As my wife, there's no need to speak to so many other people. Also, there's no need to understand a lot of things. All you have to do is do the things you enjoy doing."

"I like to eat, I like to sleep, is that ok too?"

The radiance beneath Meng Ting's eyes lit up even more and the gaze that shot over from him was like it had weighed his entire world down; yet, he was also about to open his entire world up for Yan Sui.

"Yes, that's okay." Yan Sui lightly nodded to signify his assent. His hand that was underneath Meng Ting's chin moved upward before falling onto his soft hair; but after Yan Sui caressed his hair for not even half a moment, Meng Ting pranced into his embrace.

"I also like to cuddle you."

Nevertheless, what he wanted to express was gratitude. He felt it was not enough to only use the word 'Thanks' for Yan Sui had been so tolerant and accepting toward him. Using a hug to express it was also not enough, but that was the most intimate way of expression he could think of at that moment.

After a long while, Yan Sui softly responded with "Mmm" while Meng Ting had found an even more comfortable spot where he rested his head on Yan Sui's shoulder. Being in that position, the corners of his lips curved up. That was indeed what he liked, just like he said.

Yan Sui's gaze lowered until they met Meng Ting's eyes. Then, Meng Ting softly mumbled, "I want to cuddle for a little longer."

One of the biggest reasons for Meng Ting to go to the banquet tonight was to wait for Yan Sui's arrival. Since that had happened, he should be able to have a decent night's sleep.

Yan Sui was going to draw himself away from him because he noticed somebody was watching them; but he hesitated upon hearing Meng Ting's words. After a moment of hesitation, Yan Sui slowly twined his hands around his waist, while softly patting Meng Ting's back. They were fiancés — embracing the way they were was not counted as inappropriate whatsoever.

Last night they cuddled for over ten minutes. While tonight, after cuddling for almost half an hour, it was only then that Meng Ting contently let go of him. Feeling exuberant, lights shone in his eyes as he practically wanted to skip about.

Yan Sui caressed his hair again before he held his hand and led him back to the hall.

Yan Sui had already contacted Old Master Meng over the phone. He has also made many arrangements already. Their wedding would not have any more changes. As for He Wan, she definitely would be dissatisfied with Meng Ting one way or another, but she would not show her dissatisfaction before the wedding because, as a conceited person like her, why would she simply contradict her own judgement?!

Even if the gossipers passed the things that had happened here to her ears, she would still only take it as if he purposely created that type of misunderstanding for her to see.

"This is..." A person who was similar in age as Old Master Meng asked Yan Sui. Over the years, he had never taken any male nor female dates with him to any of the banquets and, although Meng Ting was not brought by him, he was the only person who he led and protected wherever they went.

"Fiancée, the wedding invitation will be delivered to your place tomorrow."

"Ah, okay, congratulations."

The feeling was completely different when Meng Ting walked around the block with Yan Sui, compared to when he walked around with Meng Qi. Previously, the glares given by those people were as if they wanted to peel away everything from outside to his core, until nothing was left; but now, except for extreme cases, not many people dared to judge him anymore.

Most importantly, he trusted Yan Sui. He felt extremely safe when he was hugged by Yan Sui. When his hand was held by Yan Sui, he also felt safe. Yan Sui was such a great and powerful person in all aspects. He would never beat him in a fight. Therefore, it must be safe!

When Yan Sui chatted to other people for just a short while, his gaze would return to Meng Ting who was not glancing at all corners anymore. He was either looking down or he would be looking at him. He no longer appeared low in spirit like when he saw him before.

"Are you bored?"

"No." Meng Ting shook his head before he swayed their hands that were still linked side to side. "Following you is truly great. I really like it."

Toward Yan Sui, Meng Ting was great with his words. It could disrupt Yan Sui's state of mind with any of his random words.

That was clearly a banquet where Yan Sui would attend. Hence, there was no reason for Su Siyu not to go. He was rather 'fortunate' to have witnessed the entire course of Yan Sui's arrival until he held Meng Ting's hand and led him out. When he chased them out of the hall, he and Meng Qi saw the two of them embracing each other tightly. Initially, he wanted to go up to them to pull them apart. Unexpectedly, Meng Qi pulled him back.

"That's my little brother and brother-in-law, what are you going to do when you go over there? What right do you have?" Meng Qi ridiculed and, without any mercy in his tone of voice, Su Siyu was once again dragged back to his past life, during the years when he was unbearably old and charmless... when he did not have any money... when he did not have anyone... when he had nothing. Nothing... nothing at all!

"What right?! No one else has more rights than I do!" Although he said that, he did not step forward.

As soon as Su Siyu and Meng Qi followed their footsteps back to the hall, they heard Yan Sui introducing Meng Ting to everyone. Seeing that, he was unable to control the awkwardness appearing in his expressions.

Nevertheless, even Meng Qi did not try to calm him down this time. He held up a glass and went to find his friend instead because he despised being next to a moody person like Su Siyu, since he would lose his status.

Yan Sui led Meng Ting around the hall once before he took him to where the food was. After he selected a couple of plates of food that Meng Ting liked, they went to find a quiet spot, while Meng Ting ate and watched.

"You eat so much. Why haven't you gained any meat?" Right now, Yan Sui had the right to speak even more since they cuddled for ages a moment ago.

Meng Ting responded after swallowing all of the food, "I go for a run in the morning. I run every day."

Without responding, Yan Sui took out a napkin from his pocket, then he slightly turned toward Meng Ting to wipe off the cream that was left on his cheek.

Meng Ting blinked his eyes blankly and lowered his head to continue to eat. After he finished the whole plate, he lifted his eyes and glanced at Yan Sui, then his cheeks reddened bit by bit from Yan Sui's gesture [1] — that reaction arrived so slowly, like it had circled around the earth once first; but nothing was unknown in the end [2].

([1]. The original text did not have "from Yan Sui's gesture". This was added since the author mentioned that MT blinked his eyes and it wasn't until after he finished eating that he reacted and his face became red. So, I assumed it was because of YS's gesture.)

([2]. This is one of many lines that the author likes to throw in where it doesn't make any sense. :()

As for Yan Sui, just like he promised Meng Ting — he has tried to like him, and that was not hard. It was not hard at all.

The Third Prince pushed open the door to the room and the sight inside surprised him.

The room has been completely turned into a warm hue. There were some tacky-looking flowers and plants, in addition to Mu Xueshi's poor hand writing on the wall. The Third Prince suddenly remembered that when he was young, Lin Yue held his hand as they sketched simple flowers and plants on the ground. They were like Mu Xueshi's hand writings now — very childlike, but quite warm.

Mu Xueshi saw the gentle lines on the Third Prince's face — displeasure and disappointment suddenly vanished. He knew that it was impossible for the Third Prince to give him a compliment, but since the Third Prince obviously softened up, it meant that he has been completely successful.

"Thank you very much. You gave me so much encouragement..." Mu Xueshi gave the Third Prince a bear hug. His whole person appeared unusually excited and joyful.

The Third Prince thanked him in his heart but was surprised when Mu Xueshi actually thanked him back. He was utterly taken aback. Mu Xueshi embraced the Third Prince and the Third Prince felt very comfortable. When he forced him before, it did not have that warm feeling. Mu Xueshi's body smelled like child's milk — people could not help but want to get close to him.

Realizing that he was relishing this feeling for too long, the Third Prince gently pushed Mu Xueshi away and restored his cold countenance. Mu Xueshi was made accustomed to this kind of short-term tender feelings, so he did not go too far to pursue the problem that the Third Prince was always indifferent toward him.

The Third Prince's complexion was rather good. Mu Xueshi was itching to get on with it so toward the Third Prince, he said: "Take me out to play. Ever since I came here, you haven't taken me out to have a short walk. It's getting so stuffy all day long in here. Is the bazaar fun here? Do you hunt? Do you know how to shoot arrows? Teach me..."

"No!" The Third Prince said without mercy: "During the eight-day festival, in order to show respect for the ancestors, you shouldn't have any thought of playing around."

Mu Xueshi heard this, and his little face immediately fell down. He looked sadly at the Third Prince and said: "But after the eight-day festival, I have to go back to prison, and then I can't play with you... Perhaps... I may even die..."

When the Third Prince heard this, he suddenly became confused and asked: "Why will you die?"

Mu Xueshi heard the Third Prince's question and quickly explained: "It's just that... Perhaps I'm afraid that you'd condemn me, so I'm afraid that I won't be spared..."

The Third Prince's mind became sluggish. This reminded him that Mu Xueshi was the enemy he had initially tried to retaliate. In less than half a month later, he would go back to his previous life. What about now? What would he do now? Was this person still the same person whom he initially wanted to punish? Why did he not punish him, even for just a bit?

Mu Xueshi saw that the Third Prince's expression stagnated. Thinking that he was a little bit shaken, Mu Xueshi quickly added: "Can we... Play for a day? During the eight-day festival, is it all right for you to spare me for a day?"

After saying that, Mu Xueshi knelt down. While clinging on to the Third Prince's leg, he was begging as he spoke, but his eyes were undaunted. He would say anything to make this 'refrigerator' take him out to play for a day. He definitely should not leave with even just a bit of regret.

In fact, if the Third Prince would nudge a little harder, he could shake this person off of his body. Unfortunately, he was surprisingly unconcerned. Toward Mu Xueshi on the ground, he said: "Regarding this matter, let's plan for it in the days to come..."

"Wa!" Mu Xueshi suddenly jumped up. He laughed and said: "Then you just made a promise. I guess you'd have to promise..." After he finished speaking, Mu Xueshi bounced as he ran to go to the courtyard. He picked the sword up that the Third Prince bestowed upon him and playfully brandished it for a short period of time. He looked unspeakably ludicrous.

"Do you still want to eat? I'll get it for you."

Meng Ting rolled his eyes as he pondered, then he nodded lightly. He had already decided he will not go to the kitchen to get sandwiches from tomorrow onward, since he could only endure his morning runs by having enough midnight supper anyway. "I want to eat meat."

"Okay."

Yan Sui got up and went to get food for Meng Ting, while Meng Ting obediently sat and waited for him to come back.

He continued to eat the remaining food on the other plate until it was finished. Only then did he lift his eyes to search for Yan Sui's figure. As for Yan Sui, his figure had been long blocked by the people that walked back and forth in the hall.

Meng Ting had not captured the silhouette that belonged to Yan Sui in the crowd yet, when a handsome man, who looked quite familiar, sat where Yan Sui sat earlier. Moreover, he stared at Meng Ting with a gloomy expression.

As he was deep in thoughts, Meng Ting was certain he did not owe money to anyone. Therefore, this man definitely was not there to collect debts from him. With that in mind, his eyes quickly moved away as he continued to search for Yan Sui.

"You're really happy, right?"

Seeing Meng Ting did not react to his words in the slightest, Su Siyu repeated them once more, "You've seized what I have missed out on. You will soon marry Yan Sui. You're really happy, right."

For the first half of the sentence, Meng Ting truly did not understand, but for the latter part of the sentence, Su Siyu actually guessed it correctly — Meng Ting was very happy to marry Yan Sui.

He turned his head back and looked at Su Siyu. He neither did shake nor nod his head. He did not think he had to tell him the truth since he did not know him personally.

Su Siyu sneered coldly before he finally introduced himself, "I'm Yan Sui's former fiancée, Su Siyu."

Meng Ting had never heard anything about the former fiancée, but he did hear the name Su Siyu just before he came to the banquet and there was no chance of him not knowing him now. So that was the 'Su Siyu' who confessed to Yan Sui and got rejected?!

What was the reason he came to look for him? Meng Ting could not understand. As for his marriage to Yan Sui, he had no choice whatsoever, to this date. At the most, he was merely too cooperative... Could that be the reason? With that in mind, Meng Ting was not sure whether he could be considered wronged or not.

"Meng Ting, let me tell you something. Yan Sui won't be able to escape from the palm of my hands..."

With his eyebrows knitted together, Meng Ting's expression turned alarmed from when he was merely in thoughts. "Are you going to hurt him?"

Unable to escape the palm of his hands — Was it not only something a bad person would say? That hateful look on Su Siyu's face — could it be that he was Yan Sui's real enemy? If that was the case, should he beat up Su Siyu on Yan Sui's behalf to make him feel scared?

"I like him. I want to chase him."

Su Siyu regarded all the reactions on Meng Ting's face as he was deliberately making fun of himself, but he did not mind at all so he bluntly said those words to Meng Ting.

With regret, Meng Ting held back on the idea to beat him up, then seriously he shook his head at Su Siyu. "This isn't good. You like another person's husband. It's not good."

"There's a saying, how does it go..." Meng Ting suddenly had a mental block. He could not remember what he wanted to say whatsoever. Because of that, he lowered his eyes as he tried his best to remember it.

Su Siyu was infuriated by his words and the way he acted. Under the watchful eyes of many people, apart from voicing up, it was impossible for him to be able to do anything else to Meng Ting.

"Do you think by saying this, I'll give up?" Su Siyu slightly leaned forward while his gaze turned sterner than before. However, Meng Ting looked up and he looked even more regretful. "I'm sorry. I can't remember how that saying goes. I'll tell you when I remember it again."

As Meng Ting continued to feel the regret, Su Siyu did not know how to react at the moment. All the while, the two men that stood behind Meng Ting were no longer able to hold back their laughter upon hearing the entire conversation. They held their stomach as they laughed loudly, "Ha ha ha!"

"Ha ha ha!"

One of the men who was laughing was Gu Lang, while the other was the eldest grandson of the Zhongs, Zhong Ming.

The corner that Yan Sui found was rather secluded. Somehow, they also found the spot. It was a 'coincidence' that they witnessed such a comedic moment.

"Oh, where did Yan Sui find this treasure? I want one, too." Zhong Ming said while Gu Lang nodded in agreement. It would be fun taking that 'treasure' out even if it would cause annoyance to others. Besides, Meng Ting was so good looking.

Lifting his eyes up, Meng Ting looked at them as he still could not comprehend. Su Siyu turned with an awkward complexion. He wished he could directly dig a hole in the ground. Right at that moment, Yan Sui also came back and heard Zhong Ming's last sentence.

Yan Sui swept his gaze across them, then he continued walking toward Meng Ting before he stood next to him. At first, he placed the plate on the table, then he straightened his body again. Putting his arm around Meng Ting's shoulders, Yan Sui looked toward Su Siyu. "What do you want?"

Without waiting for Su Siyu to speak, he continued, "If there isn't anything you want, then don't come over. My fiancée and I don't want to be disturbed."

If it had not been for Madame Su's good relationship with his grandmother, Yan Sui would not have limited himself with only those words and let Su Siyu get away with it so easily.

As for Su Siyu, he seemed as if he could not understand words of rejection. He even dared to approach Meng Ting. He really caused people to feel unhappy as he pestered endlessly.

These few days, Su Siyu seemed to be experiencing all the embarrassment he had once faced before.

Hearing Yan Sui's words, his complexion was utterly unsightly. Letting out a sneer, he turned around and took his leave. He walked straight out of the hall and got into the car. He could no long bare to stay until the end of the Zhongs' banquet.

Facing Yan Sui's chilly glare, Zhong Ming and Gu Lang were unable laugh even if they wanted to.

As a response to the glare, they did not continue to sit on their own. Both of them got up and sat across Yan Sui and Meng Ting.

Yan Sui retracted his glare before his gaze landed on Meng Ting, then he sat down, "Here, eat."

On the pair of plates, other than meat, there was also vegetable salad. He was indeed very considerate.

Meng Ting was not a picky eater. He ate the food with gusto while Yan Sui, Zhong Ming, and Gu Lang talked about trivial matters. After quite a while, Meng Ting lifted his head and looked toward Gu Lang and Zhong Ming, before he asked with uncertainty, "Were you laughing at me just now?"

But, Meng Ting hadn't done anything embarrassing!

Hearing that, Gu Lang and Zhong Ming paused and tried their best to hold their desire to laugh, "We don't dare to... don't dare to."

Under Yan Sui's watchful eyes, they would not dare to do so.

Although Zhong Ming would most likely be the head of the Zhongs in the future, he would still have to wait twenty or thirty years. There was still a big difference compared to Yan Sui, who already held the power in the Yan family. Outsiders all felt their relationship was ordinary; in fact, it was 'ordinary.' However, this kind of 'ordinary' was not the same as with others. Their friendship was merely a tad bit more ordinary than close friends.

In the past, they were closer. However, ever since Yan Sui became the head of their family, only his grandfather or his dad attended the banquets to catch up with the other side. Because of this, their friendship gradually drifted. For that exact reason, he was able to speak to Yan Sui more casually than the others.

"Hey, you haven't answered the question I asked before?"

Yan Sui pondered over it for a moment, "He just fell from heaven." Therefore, he was someone that was given by luck and could not be sought.

When he realized Yan Sui's alternate meaning, Zhong Ming restrained himself from his gossiping spirit with great effort, then he elbowed Gu Lang. From that gesture, it was obvious that Gu Lang knew more inside, but when he asked him about it before, Gu Lang did not spill a single word to him.

Gu Lang hissed. His movement was rather exaggerated. The other three men, including Meng Ting, all stared at him. He rubbed his ribs where Zhong Ming elbowed, before he changed the topic, "Did you mean to say that there's plenty of fish in the sea before?"

Hearing that, Meng Ting could not care to eat anymore and widened his eyes, "Yes, that's it. I just couldn't remember it before."

"You're so smart." Meng Ting was dumbfounded seeing how Gu Lang knew what he was thinking.

If Gu Lang had not said it, Meng Ting would probably ponder over it for the next few days. He looked around to look for Su Siyu so he could tell him, but he was already long gone. "Next time when he looks for me again, I'll tell him."

Seeing that the two men in front of him were trying to hold in their laugher, Meng Ting self-reflected, then he restrained the exclaimed expression on his face, before he straightened his body, "Actually, if I was given more time, I would have definitely remembered. Honestly."

He was actually not hopelessly stupid... No, maybe he was.

Yan Sui raised his hand, landing on Meng Ting's hair as he gently caressed it. After he swept his glare toward Gu Lang and Zhong Ming, their expressions immediately turned serious. However, it seemed they still could not contain their laughter that was about to sneakily leak out.

However, Meng Ting was able to feel that kind of laughter was not malicious whatsoever. Hence, he merely glanced at them again, then he lowered his head and continued to eat his food.

In general, everyone felt Meng Ting would be the one to be disadvantaged compared to Su Siyu. In truth, not only did Su Siyu not receive the slightest bit of advantage, he was provoked to utter enragement.

If it was not for the sincerity in Meng Ting's eyes, everyone would have truly thought Meng Ting purposely evoked Su Siyu's anger.

Being shielded by Yan Sui, not many people noticed how much Meng Ting ate. Even if they were shocked after noticing it, they did not dare to express their opinions.

The banquet had come to the final segment, which was ballroom dancing. The guests danced and drank, while the four of them sat in that corner for half of the night already. To be exact, they had accompanied Meng Ting the entire night as he ate his meal.

Meng Ting's tummy was like a bottomless cave. It appeared that no matter how much food Yan Sui served him, he could still finish it.

Being influenced by him, Gu Lang and Zhong Ming also ate a lot but the taste was the same for them, but the food did not taste as good as how Meng Ting made it look like when he ate it. However, since they were bored, it was rather fun to chat while they ate.

The banquet came to an end after the ballroom dancing. As for Meng Ting and Yan Sui, they had to part as well.

Zhong Ming stood up to see Yan Sui off, while Meng Ting followed closely beside Yan Sui. Finally, it was only then that Meng Ting let out the words he had held within him for a long time, "I don't think I was fallen from heaven." Obviously, he came from the Meng family and he was once not wanted by the others.

"Is it because I'm a treasure, that's why I must fall from heaven?"

During the entire evening, Yan Sui did not know how many times he had laughed because of Meng Ting. He gently stroked his hair, "You're indeed a treasure." He was also about to become his treasure.

Meng Ting had never thought that he had any special qualities of being a 'treasure.' Could it possibly be because he was stupid?

"I... I still need to think about this for a while."

The confusion within his gaze caused the charmingness to fade from his amorous eyes. Seeing that, both Gu Lang and Zhong Ming felt an itch in their hands; not to mention, the intuitive feelings that Yan Sui was able to sense directly.

Yan Sui moved his hand away from Meng Ting's hair, then he held his hand instead. "You can think about it slowly. It doesn't matter how long it takes," he whispered once again.

Having waited for quite a while, Meng Qi approached them as soon as he saw them walking out of the hall. Even though he was displeased with Yan Sui, he did not express his feelings inappropriately on his face. Contrarily, he smiled at Yan Sui and the others before he looked toward Meng Ting.

It was already late at night. It was unnecessary for Yan Sui to take him home as it was too much effort. With that in mind, Meng Ting slowly let go of Yan Sui's hand and walked away. After he took one step forward, he turned around and he looked toward Yan Sui's direction. "I will think carefully. I will tell you when I see you next."

"Okay." Yan Sui acknowledged. The gentleness in his expression was something that Gu Lang and the others had never seen before. Suddenly, they understood. Yan Sui has been defeated by Meng Ting.

Meng Ting turned back around and followed Meng Qi back to the car. After he got in the car, he rolled down the window and stretched half of his head out before smiling at Yan Sui from afar.

Then, he extended one of his hands out. He waved and waved until the car took off — taking away Meng Ting, who was evidently reluctant to be parted from Yan Sui.

For a moment, Yan Sui gazed at the retreating figure of the car. He turned around to nod at Zhong Ming and Gu Lang, then took his own car, and soon left the Zhongs' domain.

After he got in the car, he quickly calmed down. He took out his mobile phone and made a call.

"I want to know everything about Meng Ting when he was in senior high for three years."

The scars on the center of Meng Ting's palms and the marks on his arms caught Yan Sui's attention.

After he returned to the Yans' residence, it was not unforeseen for him to catch sight of He Wan, waiting for him in the living room.

At this very moment, most of the servants had gone to rest. In this large living room, she sat alone, did not open the television, did not play with her mobile phone, just sat in such a proper manner. In the end, it would not be long before one could become frightened because of her.

However, Yan Sui did not feel anything. When He Wan turned around and saw him, Yan Sui gently bowed and then walked up the stairs.

"Sui'er."

He Wan motionlessly sat there as she called out for Yan Sui. He paused, turned around, and looked at He Wan, waiting for her to finish her sentence.

"You've met Meng Ting, I presume. Is there anything that you don't like about him?"

"Nothing," Yan Sui said. He Wan moved a few steps toward him, then she nodded, "Take a rest early then."

After that sentence, he did not give He Wan a chance to persuade him to stay. He went up to the second floor, opened his room, went inside, then finally closed the door.

He Wan went back to sit there. After a long time, she just sneered, and started to clear up her expression, but she did not stay in the old mansion's room. She went out and went back to her own place. She hated the Yans. She hated everything that was related to it, including Yan Sui, even if he was her own son.

When Meng Ting arrived at the Mengs' residence, it was five minutes later than the time when Yan Sui arrived at his own residence. It was reckoned that the return trip was more than an hour longer than the original half-hour trip.

This was all because Meng Qi received a bit of news midway, so they turned back and went to another place to pick Meng Xiao up. He was already dead drunk and almost met with an accident on his way back home.

"You're not even a man. You still want to fuck people. He's not worthy to be my family's illegitimate son."

That nouveau riche that mingled into the banquet was not even half of a person from this circle. With a few flattering words, he [1] bewitched Meng Xiao to the point of confusion and disorientation where he almost got drugged and lost his chastity. If this would happen on other occasions, Meng Qi definitely would not take care of him. However, he was the one who took Meng Xiao to the Zhongs' banquet. If something bad happened, he also could not escape from the blame.

([1] This part is really confusing. This might be referring to the person whom Meng Xiao contacted for his scheme.)

The anomalies in Meng Xiao's body were not completely dispersed. Although he was basically sober, he really could not control his mood.

His complexion was red and green at the same time. He was extremely resentful. He saw that the expression on Meng Ting's face was quite gloomy. Meng Ting looked at him, with his brows slightly knitted, but he still did not say anything and did not do anything.

After Meng Qi took two more calls, he came back from the passenger's seat. He looked like he was dying to kill Meng Xiao by dismembering his body, "As expected, you're a thankless wretch. You even schemed against your own family member!"

Meng Xiao has been back to the household for so many years. However, no matter what, he could not distinguish between a nouveau riche and a real wealthy son; except that Meng Xiao saw Yan Sui was really rich. Meng Xiao wanted him to spend money on him so he could continue loafing like this. Anyway, in only a matter of time, Yan Sui and Meng Ting would split up.

Meng Xiao heard that Meng Qi wanted to take Meng Ting to the banquet. The more that Meng Xiao thought about it, the more that he did not want to give up. However, he did not expect that almost the whole night Yan Sui and a few people followed Meng Ting and kept watching him.

And, that nouveau riche was also not good. He heard from a distance that Meng Ting was Yan Sui's man. How could he still have the nerve to touch Meng Ting with his hands? Meng Xiao felt that it would harm him instead. Meng Ting could mix and mingle in the Zhongs' banquet, indicating that his capabilities were not small. He reversed Meng Xiao's plan. After several twists and turns, he was finally here, and he actually wanted to show off his kindness to the Mengs.

Of course, even if he had a way to approach Yan Sui, he would not come to find him. At that moment, the Meng family would be really embarrassed.

"Why can't I be considered? We're both illegitimate children. Why can he marry into the Yan family but I can't?"

Apart from that, he returned to the Meng family much earlier than Meng Ting. All these years, for the sake of currying favor with Li Yifei and the Old Master, he was not short of considering it thoroughly; but in the end, the one who had the good marriage and the one who they selected for it was not him!

If Meng Ting got into trouble, Old Master Meng would surely select another person from the Meng family in order to make the wedding follow through. By that time, who would be more suitable apart from him?

"Is it because of that face? If it'll be ruined, I want to see what you'll use to attract and seduce Yan Sui!" As of the moment, Meng Xiao was still under the lingering influence of drugs and alcohol. Of course, he was bold enough to say anything.

Not only did he dare to say it, but he dared to make a move on it, too. His fluttering hands were on the move to scratch Meng Ting's face. Even if he did not make the first move, Meng Ting also did not plan to let him off.

After he heard Meng Xiao admitting that he wanted to scheme against him, all of the emotions on Meng Ting's face entirely disappeared. That kind of indifference on his face was not much different with the one that Yan Sui usually has. He looked into Meng Xiao's eyes, like a ruthless hunter, staring at his prey. He lifted his hand and caught Meng Xiao's wrist. With all his might, he ruthlessly twisted it and directly broke his joints. One of his hands has been twisted, and as for the other hand, he also did not let it slip.

"Ah! Ah!" with a few consecutive miserable screams, Meng Xiao almost passed out from the pain.

On the other hand, while Meng Ting had his gaze fixed on Meng Xiao's legs, he was about to break Meng Xiao's legs as well.

"Stop, that's enough. Meng Ting, that's enough!" Shouted Meng Qi.

Meng Qi looked at Meng Ting and swallowed hard. Where was the Meng Ting who was weak and well-behaved while in front of Yan Sui? This was a wolf in a little white rabbit's skin. The average person would not be capable of breaking the arm of an adult man, nor would he be so decisive, so ruthless and so efficient.

In the end, how could he use these kinds of means? Not to mention fighting, it was used for killing people. It was easily done by him, too.

Compared to Meng Xiao's tragic condition, the two punches Meng Ting gave Meng Qi yesterday could be counted as showing mercy to him.

Before, it was as if he could see through Meng Ting at a glance. At this moment, he was enigmatic in Meng Qi's eyes.

Meng Qi's eyes swerved on to the driver's fast-changing expressions. With a chilly voice, he said, "Drive properly."

"Yes," the driver replied, not daring to look at Meng Ting through the rearview mirror. In the beginning, he was the one who went with Meng Zhong to pick up Meng Ting. Now, he was naturally shocked.

When the car stopped, Meng Ting was the first to get out of the car, returning alone to his room. Meng Qi did not dare to ask him to stay. He took Meng Xiao to the back house. Old Master Meng had already fallen asleep, but Feng Zejiao had not slept yet. Meng Xiao really looked miserable. Feng Zejiao sent people to look for a doctor, then she had a discussion with Meng Qi, confiscated Meng Xiao's phone, and then kept people on guard by his room's door. Everything else for discussion had to wait until the next day after Old Master Meng wakes up.

Without a doubt, the premise that could be decided was that Meng Ting was really fine; otherwise, this marriage would absolutely come to nothing.

This took place at the Zhongs' residence. It did not take long for Zhong Ming to know about this. He hesitated for a moment but, in the end, he called Yan Sui. And, soon afterwards, Yan Sui called Meng Ting.

After Meng Ting returned to the house, he took a bath and laid in his bed to try to become sleepy. His heart was empty, but there was no obvious psychological burden. It was Meng Xiao who was not good to him. He never complied with such people in the past. This time was no exception.

He was not afraid of Meng Xiao, but he was somewhat afraid of the second branch of the Meng Family, who was backing Meng Xiao. They could not put up a fight with him in terms of victory or defeat.

Anyway, he got a call from Yan Sui. He was still very happy with it.

"Yan Sui," he said while he was lying down. His voice a little lower. He caught a pillow and wrapped it in his arms, and put the hand holding the phone on it.

"Where are you?" Yan Sui asked right away. He must first determine Meng Ting's safety.

"I'm in my room, lying on the bed." Meng Ting answered truthfully.

After a few seconds of silence, Meng Ting start to open up. He had decided to treat Yan Sui with sincerity, and this matter should not be concealed.

"Yan Sui, I just had a fight again."

"What happened?" Yan Sui knitted his brows and his voice was also getting colder. What trouble did Meng Ting encounter for him to get involved in a fight? Zhong Ming did not tell him anything.

Meng Ting took the chance to bring up their sudden change of route to fetch Meng Xiao. Then he repeated Meng Xiao and Meng Qi's words.

"I don't really understand it, but Meng Xiao was not good. He wanted to hurt me, so I beat him."

Since childhood, Meng Ting had already suffered from too much malice. This has caused him to be much keener, or sensitive, to these feelings. Most of the time, he would choose to resolve a problem by means of violence. However, he gradually found out that violence sometimes would not resolve the problem, that it would also cause more trouble for himself, so he learned to put up with it.

In the past, it was just his food and personal safety that mattered to him. Now, this also included his marriage with Yan Sui. Meng Xiao did not only want to scratch his face, but he also tried to covet Yan Sui. Of course, he could not endure it anymore.

"That was just to make him feel hurt for a few days. I know. I shouldn't kill a person."

Killing people had to be paid with his own life. He only has one life. He wanted to live. He did not want to give it to others, nor to those whom he extremely detested.

Yan Sui was unusually silence. He felt from Meng Ting's words that there was a very subtle meaning, and he said it in such a way that it showed that he had once been forced to kill and he suppressed it again.

There was a feeling in the bottom of Yan Sui's heart of having no idea how to handle this agitated Meng Ting.

Yan Sui should reproach or advise Meng Ting for his actions but, in the end, he said nothing and asked nothing. Yan Sui treated him with the same attitude as with the scars on Meng Ting's hands. What he wanted to know, he would find it out by himself. He did not want Meng Ting to reopen his scars just to let him know.

Meng Ting has never minded others in his two lifetimes. What he could only see clearly was himself. He knew that he, himself, was not normal. No matter how hard he tried to be normal, he knew it in himself that it was only an act for others to see; but inside, he was still not normal, and would always not be.

"Meng Ting..." Yan Sui finally opened his mouth again.

"Yep?" Meng Ting gently responded. There was a little bit of nervousness and helplessness from the tone of his voice. He was always so stupid. How long would it take to expose all of his serious problems in a row to Yan Sui? He was sure that he would be dismissed by Yan Sui.

"I'll see you later." Meng Ting was still young. If there were people who would look after him, he could always learn a few things again.

Meng Ting, who in his memory has never cried, but the moment that he received Yan Sui's words, his eyes became red.

"Yan Sui... Thank you."

Regardless of whether Yan Sui would be good to him in the future or not, just with these spoken words that Yan Sui had said to him, he would do everything he could to repay him.

After saying this, Yan Sui himself was relieved.

Meng Ting had intentionally hidden some details about his past. Although Yan Sui did not know about them yet, he could guess most of it. He was originally going to take the responsibility for his wife. However, now that the one who was labeled as his wife was Meng Ting, he was more willing to take the responsibility.

This sentence — such decision was merely what he wanted and nothing more.

"Go to sleep," Yan Sui's voice was low again, as if he was deliberately coaxing him to sleep, "Good night."

Meng Ting also lowered his voice, "Good night."

They waited for a while, but no one hang up on either side. Yan Sui could only open his mouth to speak again, "You hang up first."

"Okay," Meng Ting was reluctant, but then removed the phone from his ear and pressed the hang up key.

Originally, he generally felt that he would not be able to sleep tonight; but after receiving a call from Yan Sui, his heart once again settled down, his eyelids gradually became heavy and soon, Meng Ting fell asleep.

Before he fell asleep, he was still thinking. He actually had people who watched over him. It was good. It was as good as marrying Yan Sui.
