*William's POV*
The past 3 days have been so much fun but I have missed Catherine, George, Charlotte, and Louis so much. I wish that they were all here with me, but I am so excited to be able to see Catherine today. It sucks that we have so many engagements today, but it will be fun to have her by my side. I am right now getting ready as I have a video call before she gets here.
*Catherine's POV*
The past 3 days with the children have been so much fun, but I have greatly missed William. It will be nice to be back in Scotland and going back to St. Andrew's so soon after our 10th wedding anniversary. The children are currently still sleeping, so I am waking them up before I have to leave.
I walk into each of their rooms and give each one of them a small kiss on the head before waking them up. They all follow me down stairs and I hate to leave them, but I have to get going as William and I have a tight schedule.
"Mummy will miss you guys so much. I love you and so does Papa." I say.
"I love you so much. If I give you something I made for Papa, will you give it to him for me please?" George asks me.
"Oh me too! And Louis?" Charlotte exclaims.
"Go get it fast and I'm sure he will love it!" They all scurry of very fast and I take the time to send a quick text to WIlliam.
C: I'm about to leave and have a surprise for you when I get there! See you soon💕
W: Can't wait! See you soon! Love you❤️
C; Love you too❤️
I put my phone down just as the children run back through the door. I see them holding cards and know that they could only be 'miss you' cards.
"Mummy, Mummy!" Louis yells as he runs and gets chased by his elder sister. I bend down and get on his level as he runs right into my arms. I back stand up and bring him with me. He looks at me with his biggest smile. "We made cards for Papa!"
"I see that Louis! Let me see them!" I say as I examine each one quick. "These are beautiful! He will love them!"
"I have to get going, so please be good for Grandma Carole. I love you all so much." I say.
"Love you too Mummy! Bye!" All three respond with the biggest smile. I give all of them another hug and kiss then have to leave.
"Bye babies, I'll see you Thursday night!" I say as I walk out of the front door.
I head to the car and get in as the drive to the train station. Throughout the drive I think and reminisce about all the fun times we had back in St. Andrew's. I'm so excited to be able to have some extra time to ourselves while we are there and are getting to stay in the dorms their tomorrow.
After the ride we arrive and embark on the journey to Edinburgh. I decided to check out the Kensington Palace Twitter. I decide to look at the posts that we have been tagged in and see that all the recent ones are from the 3 solo days that William has been in Scotland. My favorite one that I see is one from a user called @/royallygreys and it says "I LOVE YOU YOUR ROYAL HOTNESS!" I keep scrolling and start to see the reaction of the picture of William getting his COVID vaccine. They are all brilliantly entertaining as they talk about how lucky I am to be married to him or that I am the luckiest women alive. I would have to say that I don't disagree about being lucky to be married to him, because there is no one else in this world that I would rather have spent the past 10 years, and 7 before that, with.
Sooner than I expected, the train arrives in Edinburgh. I am never this excited for a royal tour but I think that since William and I are reuniting and in a place that holds so much joy in our hearts, this will be a good tour. The train comes to a stop and I get off once everything is prepped and ready for me. I get into the car and start the journey from the train station to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
*William's POV*
The video call finally ended, so now I am preparing for Catherine to arrive here. She just texted me that she is on the way so it shouldn't be too long until she arrives. I slowly wander through the palace and slowly remember bits and pieces of my past that have taken place with in walls of Holyroodhouse. I think about running through the halls with my mum and Harry and when I first brought Catherine here for one of her first meetings with my papa. She was so nervous even though she had already met him. It was really quite cute. We weren't dating at the time, but the two of us were hanging out on a Saturday, so we came out here to go for a private walk in the garden. That was one of the best days.
I slowly make my way down to the garden and walk about the flowers. I see many of Catherine's favorite flowers, including Sweet William and Forget-Me-Nots. I pick a few of them as I walk through and decide to put them into a little bundle for her. It's nothing special, but we haven't seen each other in 3 days, so I decided to do something a little special for her.
I walk back into the palace and go to the area near the garden shop. I find the area where the staff wraps flowers for the shop and head straight to it. I spot the perfect wrapping piece that is light blue and navy blue hearts. I wrap the flowers up and use a piece of black ribbon to tie it. I thought about adding a note but figured I don't need to as I am giving it to her in about 20 minutes.
I continue to walk down the corridors of the palace and realize that I can't wait to bring George, Charlotte, and Louis here with us in a few years. Once they are old enough, Catherine and I have already decided that we want to bring them to stay here for a week and also go up to St. Andrews and show them around the campus where their parents met and fell in love.
I hear a car pull in and know that at this hour, it could only be Catherine. I walk down the stairs and walk back out to the garden because I don't want her to think that I have been obsessively waiting for her like I have all morning. I hear a noise that brings a smile to my face. It's the clicking sound of Catherine's heals hitting the tile ground of the old palace. She probably knew I would be out here as this is the first place she walks to after setting down her bags.
"William?" She shouts.
*Catherine's POV*
I see William and I immediately have a smile grow on my face. I walk up to our room and set our bags down. I stand by the window and see William walking through the garden. I smile and remember that I have to give him the cards from the children. I grab them and then make my way down the stairs. I head out to the garden.
"William?" I call out for him. I proceed to walk towards him. He turns around, but still holding something behind his back.
"Hi Catherine, darling! I have missed you so much!" He responds. He slowly continues to walk towards me.
"I have missed you so much as well! What are you hiding?" I joke with him as we continue to walk closer together.
"I'll only tell you if you tell me what you were hiding behind your back. I have a small surprise for you as you do for me." We reach each other and give each other a small kiss before smiling and attempting a hug but then we laugh realizing we can't as we are both hiding the surprises we have for each other.
"I suppose we should give these to each other at the same time in order to have it be more of surprise for each other." William says. I nod in agreement, so we sit down on the bench that happens to be behind us. We hand each other the gifts and I smile seeing that he got me my favorite flowers.
"Oh, William, these are beautiful! Where did you get such a perfect bouquet of Sweet William's and Forget-Me-Nots?" I ask.
"Earlier I was going for a walk and saw them and thought of you. I know they are your favorite, so I picked them and wrapped them up for you!" William said with such joy that Catherine couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm.
"Awe, thanks, darling! I love them! Now look at yours! It is amazing!" I say to him.
*William's POV*
Catherine hands me whatever it is that she has for me and I'm so excited to see it since she told me about it like 6:30 this morning. She hands me 3 pieces of paper and I already think I know what they are. I flip them over and see that I am correct when I assume that they are 'miss you' cards from George, Charlotte, and Louis.
"These are the best present ever. I love that the children took the time to put this together! Did you know about this?" I ask her.
"Not until this morning when they hounded me before I was leaving to come here. It really was the best thing that early, except for when Charlotte almost fell down the stairs while chasing Louis!" She says, slightly laughing at the memory. I check my watch and see that she needs to get ready.
"I hate to break up our time, but we have a tight schedule and need to follow it so we aren't late to our engagements. Let's go finish getting ready." I say. Catherine nods as we walk back towards the palace.
Catherine hands me the flowers so I can put them into water while she gets dressed. I grab a vase from the kitchen and fill it up about half way with water. I set the flowers in it and bring it back up with me to our room.
I walk up the stairs, careful no to drop the vase. I look throughout the walls of the historic palace. They are covered in art and other decorations that are hundreds of years old. When I reach our room, I slowly open the door and walk in. I set the vase down on the night table next to Catherine's side of the bed and fix the flowers so they look a little more pretty. I hear Catherine walk back in and I turn around to her with a smile that quickly fades. When I see what she is wearing, I am hit with a wave of nostalgia.
*Catherine's POV*
I can see the smile that drops from William's mouth when he notices the outfit that I wore for the tour today. It is a blue blazer with a long blue skirt. It is just like an outfit that his mother wore all that time ago. He always said it was one of his favorites so I decided to recreate it, hoping he would be happy and shocked. I was definitely right about the shocked part, but I'm not really sure about the happy part.
"Catherine," William starts as the slightest smile forms again. "I-I don't even know what to say. I love that. It was always one of my favorites that my mother wore. Thank you."
"That's just why I wore it. I wanted to wear something that would have meaning. The rest of the world might to get it, but we do and that's what matters." I walk up so him and pull him in for a big hug.
*William's POV*
After a minute or so, we disengage from our hug. She looks at me and smiles as we both walk out the door. We walk down the stairs and I lightly place my hand on Catherine's back as we descend. We make our way out to the car and head to our first engagement. Throughout the car ride Catherine and I make light conversation about how our weekends were and before we know it we are at Turning Point Scotland in North Lanarkshire.
Before we step out of the car I take Catherine's hand in mine and give it a light, reassuring squeeze, as I always to to help ground her before an engagement. She looks at me and smiles. We get out of the car and look over at each other one more before our busy day of engagements.
*Catherine's POV*
Before stepping out of the car, as always, William grabs my hand and lightly grips it to reassure me that it will all be fine. I love that he does this as it helps me to stay in the moment and not be nervous before the engagement. I look over at him and smile before we step out of the car.
Before walking in, we give each other one last smile. As I look into his eyes, I know that I am the luckiest women alive.
Sorry it took so long to update, I was just trying to make this perfect! I was inspired by the recent Scotland tour, so wrote this! As always, I hope you enjoyed! Comment ideas for future chapters.
