Technopath strolled through the files on Elizabeth's computer. He idly cast his mind through the files as he went, searching for irregularities that would be indicative of Glitch's presence.
Thankfully, as there had been for the past few devices, there was nothing.
As he approached the Notepad app, a message pinged on Discord.
It was a DM from someone named Nova.
Nova: HEY BESTIE YOU SEE THE THING???
Technopath heard it as Elizabeth typed out her answer.
Firefly: Yes!
Nova: CALL?!?
Firefly: Sure!
Technopath listened idly as Nova cheered about the nonbinary superhero. That wasn't what he was here for.
He snatched the pen tool from the Notepad and sketched out a rectangle with a smaller rectangle below it. The top became a screen and the bottom a keyboard. He tapped a few keys and brought up Elizabeth's search history.
He scrolled through, frowning slightly.
Why did she look up explosions in the past year?
Technopath opened a new tab.
TechnoPotato: u up?
LightLad: yea sup
TechnoPotato: Elizabeth (firefly) looked up explosions in the past year
LightLad: dude my brain's fried rn it is currently 11pm what does this mean for grand scheme of things
TechnoPotato: I am about 80% certain that she is Hurricane, based on location, search history, and secret amazon list.
LightLad: oh neat. Good to know
LightLad: anything else?
Elizabeth opened Google Docs and made a new document.
Technopath glanced through the Shared with Me section of Elizabeth's drive. There was a new file that had been shared with Elizabeth. Technopath opened the file. It looked like a list of different chemicals, shared by Addison Davis.
This might help with your book research, here ya go <3, was the first line.
TechnoPotato: yea Addison (Snow Lion) sent Elizabeth a list of chemical compounds tagged with 'Research'
LightLad: could that be a writer thing?
TechnoPotato: I don't think so
LightLad: so Addison's in on it too?
TechnoPotato: I think so
LightLad: wait she's from the midwest there aren't any heroes out there
TechnoPotato: you're an eejit just because we're fighting doesn't mean everyone is
TechnoPotato: I'd put money on there being more people out there that haven't been working like this
He tuned back into the conversation.
"-I mean, there's always gonna be assholes, but Tsunami's now my favorite vigilante."
Elizabeth chuckled. "Who was your favorite before?"
"Lightbringer, easy, he's walked me home a couple times-"
Technopath's hands stilled over the keyboard.
"Wait, hold up, when did that happen?" Elizabeth asked.
"Oh, did I never tell you about this?" Nova asked. "Wack. So basically, I stayed at the library until it closed and didn't realize it, and I had to walk home and I thought someone was following me, but I turn around and there's a guy talking to this dude in some Halloween lookin' costume. The first guy gets told off and leaves, and the guy in the costume looked at me."
Technopath's hands resumed motion.
TechnoPotato: you know a kid named Nova?
LightLad: oh yea they're nice
LightLad: first kid I really interacted with
LightLad: why?
TechnoPotato: they know Elizabeth (firefly)
LightLad: oh shit small world
"And he walked you home?" Elizabeth asked. Technopath could faintly hear the scratching of a pen on paper.
"Yeah, I was kinda scared though, didn't know what he was gonna do, but he stayed back and lit himself up before offering to walk me back to my place," Nova said.
"Interesting..." Elizabeth mused. "Did you see him again after that or just the one time?"
"Oh, I see him around. He just vibes, me and some other kids started a little like posse or whatever the word is," Nova informed Elizabeth. There's a discord for it."
"Oh really?" Elizabeth asked.
"Yeah, I'm a member, it's cool," Nova said.
TechnoPotato: is there a discord for your group of kids?
LightLad: is there?
TechnoPotato: let me check it out, if it's not sketchy I can get you in
LightLad: I'll make an alt
"So, could you describe to me what Lightbringer looked like?" Elizabeth asked, voice casual.
Technopath paused in his typing.
"Oh, he was like, only a little bit taller than me," Nova said. "I don't know what else you want me to say, he's got pictures online. Why are you asking, anyways?"
"Oh, I'm thinking about doing a tier list on stream," Elizabeth said nonchalantly. "You've had firsthand experience, so I figured I'd ask you."
Technopath scoffed quietly.
TechnoPotato: yea Elizabeth's looking into us + tsunami, calling that now
LightLad: do you have concerns?
Technopath considered for a moment.
TechnoPotato: I don't think she's a threat per se, but she definitely seems persistent. And her writing can excuse any irregularities in her search history, so even if someone else gets that she might get off without concerns. I'm gonna keep an eye on her. I don't know anything about Addison, though. She could be a wildcard. Might have connections to get her that list of compounds
LightLad: what list?
TechnoPotato: oh right she shared a list of chemical compounds with Elizabeth. Idk where she got it from
LightLad: it could be a public list
TechnoPath: I mean sure
LightLad: you're thinking too hard
TechnoPotato: well I don't control the depth of my thoughts, asshole
LightLad: i know lmao
LightLad: talk to theorist if you want to think deep, my brain's too fried I mean I'll listen but I prolly won't have anything to add
TechnoPotato: I might
TechnoPotato: well you should sleep you said it was 11p by you
LightLad: yea I probably should.
