Romeo & Juliet
The year was 1861. A pretty light blonde haired French girl with light silver blue eyes was skipping along a stream, collecting flowers. Nearby, on the other property, sat a boy about two winters older than the girl. His dark locks hung in his face as he watched her with burgundy brown hues. He stood on the fence, arms leaning on the wooden fence as he watched the pretty girl on the neighboring property.
Far away from Paris, in the French countryside, there were two neighboring families. The Magné's and the Michaelis's. Naturally, for this tale to have happened, there was tension of sorts between the families. The husbands' at least. Duke Michael Magné and Lord Samuel Michaelis never agreed on anything. The two were of the Emperor Napoleon's top ranks, and given vast estates. The first born of Michaelis House was a raven haired boy with pale skin named Sebastian. The first born Magné House was a light blonde haired daughter with skin white as the freshly fallen snow.
The daughter of Magné, was the very epitome of beauty. Her light blonde locks were like soft golden strands of sunlight. Her silver blue eyes shone like the stars in the night. This, was Aurora Magné.
The son of Michaelis was by far a handsome young lad. His posture was always perfect, his hunting perfect, and everything about him was overall perfection. His raven hair and burgundy brown eyes contrasted against his pale skin and made him look fitting the title of a Lord's son. This, was Sebastian Michaelis.
It had been just another day, Aurora Magné was eight, and Sebastian was ten. Sebastian was sitting on the fence, reading a book when he heard the soft humming. He glanced upwards to see the younger girl skipping along the river bank that divided the two properties. He smirked at the sight and shook his head before going back to his book. A few moments later, he heard a splash. He whipped his head around. The Magné daughter was no longer on the bank. He shot up and made a mad dash towards the river. He spotted her instantly and shed himself of his jacket and shoes before he jumped in. He managed to pull his arm around her and swam back to his own side of the river. The younger girl's blonde hair was plastered to her face, the light blue ribbon that had initially tied it back now in disarray. Sebastian wrapped his coat over her shoulders. "Are you okay, Lady Aurora?" Aurora shivered and nodded sheepishly. "Oui, Monsieur. I am alright." She met the older boy's eyes and her breath hitched a bit. His burgundy brown eyes watched her with concern. "My Lady?" Aurora coughed a bit and nodded. "I'm fine, Lord Sebastian! Honest!" Sebastian smiled, "You don't need to address me by a title. Sebastian will do just fine." Aurora grinned, "Then Aurora shall do just fine as well! None of that 'my lady' stuff!" Sebastian chuckled and offered her his hand. "Yes, of course, Aurora."
Not much time passed, and a few weeks later, Aurora turned nine. When her parents took her into town to shop for her birthday presents. She was poking about a toy store when she spotted a familiar dark haired boy across the street, talking with a couple of other boys his age. She felt a strange feeling in her chest. She wouldn't know it until years later, but her heart skipped a beat and she had begun to develop her first crush.
After that, Aurora would go out of her way to go near the river bank and hop over the stones to see Sebastian who was usually on the fence, reading a book. "Hi, Sebastian!" She'd chirp. Sebastian would return her smile and set his book aside. "Hello, Aurora. How are you today?" He'd hop off the fence and together they'd walk along the river bank, talking about whatever. It was when Aurora reached thirteen did she become giddy with excitement. She met Sebastian by the river as per usual. He was waiting and smiled brightly at her. He was almost fifteen now. "So, you'll be getting a fiancé soon." Sebastian said as they walked, "Must be exciting." Aurora looked a little confused, "A fiancé?" Sebastian nodded, "I am surprised your father hasn't affianced you already if I am being wholly honest." Aurora scoffed, "A fiancé. Honestly, Sebastian? Why would I marry someone I hardly know?" Sebastian shrugged, "It's how things work, Aurora. We have no say." He sighed, "I'd much rather get rid of my own fiancé. I don't like her one bit." Aurora's heart shattered and she stopped. "Y-your f... your fiancé?" She murmured. Sebastian nodded, "I'm supposed to marry her when I turn nineteen or twenty." Aurora had stopped in her footsteps, her head bowed and her blonde locks hanging in her face. "Marry... her..." Aurora's voice was a soft whisper, and her voice cracked a bit. Sebastian paused and turned to look at her, "Aurora? Is everything alright?" Aurora bit her lip and shifted uncomfortably. "I- I... Yes. I'm fine." Sebastian gave her a small smile and walked back over to her, cupping her face in his hand, "Come now, my dear, I know quite well when something bothers you. After all if I couldn't know when your feelings are hurt, well- what kind of friend would I be?" Aurora sniffled. "I- Sebastian... I-" She cut herself off and bit down on her lip. She couldn't confess to him. He was engaged. The older boy tilted her chin up, "Yes?" She held her breath and opened her mouth. "Sebastian, I-" There was a sudden yell from her property. "Aurora! Aurora! Come along!" Sebastian sighed and stepped away, "I suppose I'll see you tomorrow then. Au revoir, my lady."
A few months later, Aurora had her own fiancé. A man who was almost twice her age. She despised him of course. And so she made a decision. At the next ball of the Emperor's, she would pull her friend aside and confess her feelings for him.
It was mid May, at a party the Emperor Napoleon was throwing. Aurora had attended alongside her parents, and she caught sight of Sebastian with his parents and... his fiancé. The girl was thankful her own fiancé was absent. She wandered about, and crossed paths with Sebastian at one point when his fiancé was away. He smiled brightly and lead her to a hidden corner of the room. "Thank goodness you're here," he said, "Someone decent amoung all these stiff assed nobles!" Aurora giggled, "Decent? I beg to differ, Lord Sebastian- but I think I'm a bit more than decent." He hummed, "Yes, I do believe I'll have to agree, Lady Aurora." Aurora sighed, "It is a relief that you're here, Sebastian. Being in your company is far more preferable to anyone else's." Sebastian chuckled, "That is truly agreeable." He frowned then, "I've heard of your engagement. I can't imagine your too pleased about marrying someone who's twice your own age." Aurora sighed, "Yes... About that... Could you and I speak? Alone?" Sebastian nodded and they left the party to the gardens where there was a koi pond, surrounded by stones and with a small waterfall. "So, you wanted to speak?" Sebastian asked. Aurora nodded slowly, fidgeting as she attempted to speak. "I- I- Sebastian, I-..." She couldn't say it and squeezed her eyes shut. Sebastian watched and then smiled fondly at her. "Aurora. Look at me." Aurora looked up at him. His eyes were kind, soft, and Aurora felt her heart skip a beat. She sighed. "Sebastian. I don't want to marry my fiancé." Sebastian nodded, "I can see why. But I can only assume you've already spoken to your father, so who else-" Aurora cut him off and spoke a little quickly. "I want to marry you!"
Silence.
Sebastian stared at her, surprisingly, his eyes were not full of shock or disgust. Rather, full of what could have been love. Aurora squeezed her eyes shut and clenched her fists, unable to look at her friend. She gasped suddenly as he cupped her face and pulled his arm around her waist. "Lady Aurora Magné," he murmured, "Would you allow me to kiss you?" Aurora nodded. "Yes. Yes of course." He smiled and leaned down, pressing his lips against hers. There was a spark. Neither realized they needed air until they both felt faint, causing them to pull away, gasping for air. Aurora's arms were around the older boys neck, and Sebastian's arms circled around her waist, holding her close. They stared at each other, shocked. Sebastian was first to smile and caress the girl's face, gently brushing the hair from her eyes. "Aurora. I love you." Aurora smiled lovingly, "And I love you, Sebastian. I have since I saw you in town after my ninth birthday." Sebastian sighed and held her close. "Would you marry me if I asked you right now?" Aurora nodded. "Yes," she breathed, taking his hands in hers and squeezing. "Yes, of course." Sebastian smiled, "Then I believe I have a new fiancé."
The pair walked back to the party together, and were met by their fathers.
"Outrageous!" Michael Magné snarled, "Michaelis! Your son has corrupted my daughter!" Samuel Michaelis snapped back, "My son has done no such thing!" Aurora stayed beside Sebastian and grasped his hand in hers. Sebastian gently moved her behind him, glaring up at the two bickering adults.
"My daughter is engaged!"
"As is my son!"
Sebastian snapped then, "Respectfully, father- I would greatly prefer to marry Lady Aurora than Lady Lilli Flores! Lady Aurora is far more appealing and kinder than her!" Aurora nodded in agreement, "And papa! Sir Rogers is twice my age! He's even older than you! I don't want to marry him! Please- let me marry Sebastian! I love him!" Her father snarled, "He has corrupted you! He is a beast just like his father!" Samuel Michaelis hissed, "Making your daughter marry someone older than you?! What kind of man does that?! My own daughter is to marry someone closer to her own age!" Samuel Michaelis nodded to his son, "I am more than willing to comply with your wishes, my son. However the Duke himself must also be in agreement before anything is finalized." All eyes fell on Duke Magné. "Please, papa! Please!" Aurora pleaded. Duke Magné grabbed his daughter by the arm roughly. "We are leaving!" He snapped, "Come Aurora!" Aurora stumbled after him, glancing back at Sebastian longingly. Sebastian watched her be dragged away dejectedly. His father put a hand on his shoulder, "I bear a strong dislike for the Duke, however if marrying the Lady makes you happy I will abide. Only you must receive the Duke's own blessing. If you don't..." Sebastian needed not to hear what finished that sentence. He would remain engaged to Lilli until an engagement between him and Aurora could be guaranteed.
It was a week before Sebastian saw the blonde again. She crashed into him, knocking him off the fence and sending them both hurtling into the ground. He gave a soft grunt as he impacted against the ground. "Oof." Aurora hugged him tightly and he noticed she was crying. He frowned and sat up, holding her close to him. "Aurora?" Aurora sniffled. "I- I-" She broke off into tears. "Oh Sebastian! It's awful! Papa wants me to marry that disgusting old man! What am i supposed to do?!" Sebastian thought for a moment, "Do you have a friend who can vouch for you, mon cheri?" Aurora sniffed, "What?" Sebastian explained, "Someone who you tell your parents you are going to stay with. But in reality you go elsewhere. That person will cover for you and if asked you were with them." Aurora sniffed, "Yes. I could ask my friend Estella." Sebastian smiled, cupping her face. "Ask her and then how about you come stay with me." Aurora gasped, "Sebastian! That's improper!" Sebastian chuckled, "You can have your own room. And if anything your a friend of my sister's." He smirked. "My father's not often home anyways. He and mother are frequenting at the Emperor's castle." Aurora grinned, "Well, when you put it that way, yes! Yes I'll stay with you!" Sebastian chuckled, "Good. Meet me in town by the L'amour Bakery tonight." Aurora nodded. "Understood." She kissed him on the cheek and took off back towards her own manoir.
Sebastian Michaelis stood outside the Bakery that night. His own carriage was waiting patiently when the Magné carriage pulled up. Aurora hopped out of the carriage, without waiting for the door to be opened for her, and barreled into Sebastian's arms with a happy laugh. Sebastian smiled and kept his arm around her while her things were loaded into his own carriage. While they waited, the pair went into the bakery for a midnight snack. They shared a few macaroons, and took a couple more boxes to go. They sat side by side in the carriage, only to be taken to the Michaelis townhouse. Sebastian took the girl's hand and smiled apologetically. "My father returned a little sooner than expected. We'll be here for a couple days before going back to the manoir." Aurora smiled and held his hand tightly. "I don't mind, Sebastian. I trust you." Sebastian smiled and kept his arm around her.
Aurora was given permission to remain at Estella's for the summer. So she and Sebastian would have two full months together. Celebrating both of their birthdays. Sebastian's seventeenth, and Aurora's fifteenth. The day of Aurora's birthday, Sebastian ordered a cake and prepared a small party for the two of them. When he woke her in the morning, they made a day of it. They started with breakfast, crepes- Aurora's favorite, and then moved on to a fencing competition. Aurora looked beautiful in her fencing attire, Sebastian noted. She almost looked- his thought process was cut off as she knocked him over, pointing her fencing foil at him with a victorious smirk. "A little slow, hmm, mon cher?" Sebastian shook his head with a laugh. "I must be." He climbed to his feet and resumed his position. "En garde."
Sebastian's birthday was quite similar, only Aurora had something else entirely planned at the days end.
Sebastian was preparing for bed when there was a knock on his door. "Yes?" The door opened and Aurora entered wearing a robe. Sebastian smiled, "Did you need something, mon amoure?" Aurora shut the door and walked over wordlessly. Sebastian watched her, confusion etched across his face. Aurora sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him close. Sebastian was surprised as she kissed him passionately. He sighed and returned her kiss, holding her close. When he pulled away. Aurora smiled nervously, "I... I figure that sense we are going to get married anyways, it would be alright." Sebastian's eyes widened in realization and he shook his head. "No. We haven't any confirmation, Aurora. Until things are set in stone I won't. If something goes wrong and we don't... work... You'll be ruined." He kissed her briefly, "You understand, don't you darling?" Aurora nodded, "Yes. I understand." She looked up at him. "Might we just share the bed then?" Sebastian smiled lovingly at her and caressed her face. He adored this girl. She was incredible. But she was also incorrigible. He wanted her as much as she wanted him, maybe even more so- and so he made a decision. "Aurora." Her silver blue eyes met his.
"Yes?"
"Run away with me."
Aurora stared at him. "Yes. Yes, a thousand times yes." He pulled her close, kissed her passionately, and allowed her to dance them towards the bed. She collapsed on top of him, still kissing him. She tugged a bit at his shirt and he sat up, "We're not going to do anything that will-" Aurora cut him off, "Sebastian. We've crossed the boundary a long time ago. I don't think it matters." Sebastian sighed and leaned down, cupping her face. "You are sure? You've no doubts?" Aurora nodded. "Yes. We can run away together. Elope." Sebastian nodded and loomed over her, "Tomorrow." He said, "Tomorrow I'll withdraw as much money as I can. Then, we'll take a carriage as far as we can go." While he spoke, he stripped himself of his clothes, and pulled Aurora's legs around his waist. As he positioned himself at her entrance, Aurora stared at him. "Then what? Then what will we do?" Sebastian smiled lovingly and slowly moved inside her, holding her as she hissed in pain before he spoke. "We'll start our new life together. The world will be ours." Aurora smiled and lifted her arms so he could tug her night gown over her head. "You and I together." She said with a smile, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him down to rest his bare chest against hers. "Forever." Sebastian kissed her, and began thrusting his hips gently back and forth. "Until the day we die, mon cheri. I will be yours and you will be mine."
Aurora gasped as he picked up the pace a bit. Sebastian held her close, then just before his release, he removed himself from her. He was very surprised when she rolled them over to straddle him. Sebastian stared at her. "Aurora- what are you-" Aurora cut him off, "We'll be married soon. I don't see the problem." She giggled, "Besides, we won't exactly be nobles if we elope. We won't have to worry too much." Sebastian sighed, "I love you, Lady Aurora Magné. Do you know that?" Aurora smiled and touched her nose to his, resting her forehead against his own. "And I love you, Lord Sebastian Michaelis. I'll love you forever."
The next morning, the two were curled close together. Sebastian stirred first and pulled her close, his hand at the small of her back. Aurora hummed and reached a leg over his hip. Sebastian smiled and kissed her. "Good morning, my darling." Aurora yawned and blinked sleepily. "Good morning, mon cher. Je t'aime." Sebastian smiled and moved on top of her to press a hot kiss to her lips. "Je t'aime, cheri." Aurora wrapped both legs around his waist and he chuckled, shaking his head, removing her legs. "We'll have to wait, my love. I need to withdraw that money and then we can run off." Aurora nodded, and sat up, smiling at him before she reached for her discarded night gown. "Alright." Sebastian eyed her somewhat hungrily as she pulled the thing over her head.
He dressed himself before he made his way to the telephone, calling to withdraw as much money as he possibly could. They'd stop at the bank to collect the money before eloping. Aurora was wearing a pretty blue dress when she joined him after he set down the telephone. Aurora wrapped her arms around his neck and stood on her toes to kiss him on the cheek. Sebastian pulled his arm around her waist, leaning back to kiss her. He turned around and pulled her close, holding her to his side before murmuring softly, "We need to go to the bank before leaving." Aurora nodded, "I know."
Sebastian stepped back, and held both her hands in his, a small smile on his face. "Just think, darling. By tonight- you and I will be married and we'll have our own place." Aurora grinned, "I can't wait. You are sure we cannot go to a chapel and marry first?" Sebastian shook his head, "No. There's too many who would recognize us and know we're engaged to different people." Aurora shuddered but she smiled, "Well- I don't think mine would want me anymore." She stood on her toes to give Sebastian a passionate but slightly sloppy kiss. Sebastian smiled and pulled her close. "Hmm. Your mine either way my dear." Aurora giggled and held his hands tightly. "Come on! Let's go to the bank!"
The happiness the pair had now would be short lived. And like Romeo and Juliet, there would be no happy ending. In fact, the ending of this tale would be most upsetting.
Sebastian and Aurora stepped out of the carriage, hand in hand, gazing at each other lovingly as they entered the bank. Had they waited longer, gone earlier, or just left the money- things might have been different and in their favor. The moment they set foot into the bank, they were grabbed by the police. Duke Magné and Lord Michaelis stood there, frowns on their faces. Duke Magné, grabbed his daughter roughly and snarled, "You little brat! After I told you no! You lied to me and you've spent the summer with this roguish cad instead of Estella!" Aurora glared, "You were going to force me into something I didn't want." Lord Michaelis snapped at his son, "I told you to wait! You needed the Duke's approval!" Sebastian snarled, "He would never agree! I didn't want to marry Lilli, and Aurora didn't want to marry that Sir Rogers fellow!" Aurora nodded, "He's right! Besides, Sir Rogers' won't want me now!" The Duke and Lord looked horrified and Aurora wrestled out of her father's grasp and grabbed Sebastian. They shot out of the bank and ran. They didn't get far before they were cornered in an alleyway. Sebastian held her tightly, close to his chest, his chin resting atop her head. He glared at their pursuers, a silent threat that he would lay harm to anyone who would dare separate him from his lover. Aurora was clutching his jacket, crying. They were at a loss. Sebastian Michaelis was apprehended, arrested and held for three days. Upon his release, he raced to the Magné Manoir.
Only to find the Magné family had gone. And with them, his beloved blonde haired silver blue eyed friend. He had collapsed, in the middle of the empty mansion. He begged his father to help him search, only to have his father shake his head and tell him they left and had been in an accident. There were no survivors.
Sebastian was forced to marry Lilli Flores, who became Lilli Michaelis. Sebastian became and estranged member of the Michaelis family, he cared not for the money, the titles, nothing. It reminded him too much of his lost love.
Meanwhile, his lost lover had been relocated, moved far away by her father, somewhere where Sebastian could not find her. But after her eighteenth birthday, the night before she was supposed to marry some other noble, she ran away. And a few years later, wound up in London after a carriage accident, saved by a certain Undertaker, but not before suffering amnesia. And it was the following day, she came face to face with Sebastian Michaelis. The butler.
But of course, this was the story the demon and angel told those who asked for an in depth telling of their story. Of course, when Aurora told it- she left out anything that was past a PG-13 rating. Sebastian, on the other hand... Not so much.
A/N: I realized while writing this when we finally see Sebastian and Ciel in the manga again, we're probably going to see what happened when Sebastian was first contracted to Ciel. And I got so excited then sad cause it's going to be a while until we see them again and I can continue the main story (I'd publish the little bit I have, but I want to make sure it's canon. This story is meant to be canon and supposed to accompany the manga. Sorry I'm a perfectionist sometimes). Soon we'll have Finny and Snake, so I'm going to assume that's the next two chapters. So two months there. June and July. So maybe August will be Sebastian and Ciel? I really hope we see them sooner though because it is PAINFUL waiting. I apologize that I publish chapters as soon as I finish them, if I made it a weekly schedule I probably wouldn't have these issues. But cause I like to read my stuff like any other fanfic, I just publish 'em when they're done. So, here's to hoping we see Sebastian and Ciel sooner rather than later!
