9:46 pm | February 13.
"Hyung." Hyunjin called out as Minho turned to face him, showing a slight smile, "sup." Hyunjin soon approached him, placing his hands in his pockets before leaning his back on the fence, facing the older boy. "Been a while since we've hanged out here hasn't it?" Minho said, straightening his back as he looked across the city.
"Hm." Hyunjin nodded, "it has."
"We'd always come here after school, remember?"
"Yeah." He snickered, "we'd always talk about stupid stuff here. It feels weird even though it's only been, almost a year."
"Who's counting?"
"Uh- I don't know- me?" Hyunjin rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he'd always pass by this place from time to time for it was one of the way to school.
Minho chuckled and nodded, "thank you for counting. That's a long time already." He sighed and then opened up another topic, "you met with Seunghee right?"
"Yeah." He muttered— suddenly changing his expression to a serious- yet concerned one as he set his stare on the floor. After hearing his response, the older one nodded then asked once more, "how is she? Is she alright?"
"Mhm. She's gonna be fine. I hope." He smiled a little. "It was shocking—." Hyunjin looked up at his best friend, who was attentively listening. "She always had a smile plastered on her face- but then again it made me realized that not everyone who smiles are always happy."
"You're right." Minho said. "Everyone still has bad days and good days."
"Yep. But I'm concerned about her."
"I don't blame you." The older one sighed and casted his glance on the city in front of them, "Kang Yejin... I still wonder why she acted up like that." He shook his head, "it always was a problem. She assumed things a little too quickly." He muttered as Hyunjin slowly nodded.
"How did you find out about her and Jae anyways?" He firmly asked.
"My cousin was in that café. So she sent me a pic and asked me if it was my girlfriend and shit." He chuckled once again, "I immediately came to see for myself and right at that instant. I wanted yell on spot and drag her away from him."
"I wanted to shove him away from her, but for some reason, it felt wrong." Minho shrugged, "maybe I've matured- I'm not sure. Because I really wanted to beat him up— and honestly I definitely would do it with no hesitation but I realized-."
He eyed the younger one and then looked away, "ah nothing. It's fine. I just said this to clear things up."
"Clear what up?"
"Seunghee, of course." He raised an eyebrow, "it wasn't her. So don't worry."
"I know it isn't, though." He replied rather dryly. Minho nodded and pushed his hair back whilst releasing another sigh, "what a dramatic school year." — "sucks that it even had to be my last year here."
Hyunjin reached his hand out to pat his back, "you did good, hyung." He smiled. "Pfft. When did you get so kind?" Minho squinted his eyes jokingly as he then shook his head. "Probably because of your crush's influence hm?"
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"Nah don't pull that card on me Hyun."
"What-."
"Snatch her before someone else does. She's not gonna follow you around forever." He said in a serious tone, stretching his arms out while yawning. "What are you talking about?"
"You already know what I'm talking about." He muttered in slight annoyance, "anyways, I'm tired, I'll go ahead. I just called you to clear stuff out. You should go too, we have to get up early tomorrow, right?"
"But I-."
Minho patted his back. "See you tomorrow, Hwang." His lips formed a small smirk and started walking away from there as his smile gradually grew, turning around to face him as he walked backward. "Do a favor for me, will you?" He slightly yelled for him to hear.
"What-."
"Don't let her go." He stated before turning around to head home.
"Don't let her go?" Hyunjin muttered as he tilted his head at that thought before taking a glance at his friend's figure which was gradually shrinking as he continued walking.
Friday | February 14th.
It was the final day of the week before exams. The sun slowly only started to show up in the fresh yet cold morning. Five am the time where someone's either asleep or awake as the birds sing songs that probably wish you a good day or sings you to have a good sleep.
Sunwoo whined a bit as he placed his hands into his pocket, closing his eyes while his cheeks filled with light shades of visible pink. "She's too cute for me to handle aah.." he muttered, feeling as if he'd go crazy over the love he had for his crush, as Seunghee faintly laughed.
"What was the dream about anyway?" She asked, followed by a yawn. Sunwoo opened his eyes and then faced her as they walked through the silent street on the way to school. "I confessed." He mumbled as Seunghee quickly widened her eyes. "Seriously?"
"In the dream-."
"Oh- right. Right." She muttered— "so what happened in the dream?"
"She said yes— with her giggle.. aah.. she's too precious for this world. It's not even real but I feel like I'll be melting already." He held onto his heart with a sigh, looking ahead of him with eyes that sparkled. Then, Sunwoo looked up at the sky, "how lucky am I? She's the reason I wake up every day.. other than food." He murmured the last sentence.
Seunghee chuckled once again as she looked at her best friend then towards where they were going. "That's really what love is." She mumbled randomly as Sunwoo hummed in question.
"I mean-." She shrugged. "It's just when you start loving someone, you're just eager to protect him or her at all cost. It feels nice." She smiles as the boy nodded along, "I agree!"
"Ah right, is giving someone chocolate too much?" Sunwoo asked as they stopped their tracks. "Well depends- why?"
Sunwoo unzipped his backpack, taking out a bouquet of lilies with little chocolate treats in between them. "Woah." Seunghee gasped quietly and then looked at him, "how did you fit all that in your bag-."
"I left all my books at the school locker yesterday and bought these quickly, aren't I smart?" He chuckled then put the bouquet inside again. "So is it okay?"
"For Hana?"
"Shh." He gestured his index finger on his lips as he looked around him to make sure no one was there. After being reassured that no one was there, Sunwoo looked back at her with a smile. "Yeah! Of course."
"It's amazing! What's the occasion?" She asked as the boy blinked in disbelief. "Really..?- what's the-." He bit his bottom lips as Seunghee fiddled with her backpack straps, finally gasping, "are you confessing today?"
"What?" His ears rushed with blood as his pupils dilated, quickly shaking his head. "No no, not yet! I don't wanna distract her from her studies-. I- I-." He gulped looking away, "it's valentines day!" He mumbled loud enough for her to hear.
"Oh. Valentine's day." Seunghee took her phone from her pocket to check the date, "damn right it is." She blinked thrice and then chuckled awkwardly. "Sorry."
Sunwoo shook his head as a pardon for her apology as they both started walking. "So are you gonna give it to her in person?"
"No—." He rubbed the back of his neck, "I'll just.. put it on her table." He cleared his throat, "when she's not there." Sunwoo muttered then laughed nervously, "I'm a coward, you see.."
"Ayyy.." Seunghee rubbed his back, "you're not a coward. Don't beat yourself so much." — "that's alright! No judgment. Take your time. Although-."
"No worries, I won't let anyone snatch her away-. I mean- obviously, if she doesn't like me then that's fine but uh," he looked down, "I just want to confess to her first."
Seunghee smiled, ruffling his hair. "You really are a gentleman aren't you? Thoughtful but also loyal. Tsk.. Just do it whenever you're ready okay?" She said, "let me know too." She yawned once again— covering her mouth with her hands.
Sunwoo nodded with a smile, "of course!"
Seunghee smiles once again as they made their way towards their school gates. "So what about you?" Sunwoo asked while Seunghee greeted the security guard a good morning— Sunwoo then did the same then looked back at her. "Hmmm??"
"What about me?-."
"Nothing special planned on valentines day?"
"Uh.. no.." she laughed a bit, brushing her bangs away from her eyes as she faced forward and then shrugged. "I mean- unless studying is a special thing?"
"Seriously..?" Sunwoo murmured in disappointment as Seunghee quickly hummed, "uhh maybe I'll be eating with Jeongin and his family.. if they allow me?-."
"Of course we'll always allow you." Jeongin appeared out of nowhere, his hair all messed up but his smile just shined right through. Sunwoo held onto his chest, looking behind them. "Innie! You scared me."
Jeongin giggled as he bowed towards the guard, greeting him good morning before blending in their group. "Sorry, Hyung."
"It's fine! We honestly thought you were coming later so we left without you, sorry." Sunwoo looked at the younger one who looked exhausted as he shook his head. "Good morning! I overslept, actually." He giggled shyly.
"Tsk good morning. Baby bread must've been studying hard." Seunghee said in a low voice as she smiles faintly, patting his hair. "Mhm.." his expression quickly shifted into a serious one- suddenly feeling a sense of guilt but waves it off as he smiles, "Let's walk home together later."
Seunghee nods and looks at Sunwoo, "oh not me-. I have to stay back and clean for skipping class." He sighed. "Really?"
"Mhm."
"Does that mean I have to as well?" Seunghee tilted her head, talking to herself as they entered the school hallway. "I don't think so. You had the nurse's permission." Sunwoo stated as they nodded.
"Oh, I'll get going guys," Jeongin whispered, stopping by the door of his class. "Alright. Good luck today innie!" Sunwoo held up his fist, "fighting!"
"You too!" He whispered back and then entered his class.
Seunghee waved a bit with a smile, "good luck." She whispered almost only to herself before turning around to head towards her class. Meanwhile, Sunwoo checked his watch, "oh shit we gotta go."
Sunwoo quickly pulled her along, jogging towards their classrooms which achieved to wake the yawny girl up — for now, at least.
Finally reaching the classes, Seunghee lets go of his grip, trying to catch her breath. "You-." She shut her eyes close, trying to breathe as she bent down. "You could've at least gave me a heads up." She finally straightened her back.
Sunwoo blinked, "damn. You really are an 아줌마 (ah-ju-mah,, middle-aged woman)." Sunwoo stated as Seunghee shifted her gaze into a death glare. "Pardon?" She raised an eyebrow.
Sunwoo quickly gulped and then looked at his watch. "Oh look at the time, it's almost five-thirty, gotta go! See you at break." He rapidly said within two seconds before dashing off to the classroom next to hers— managing to dodge Seunghee's fists.
"I-." Seunghee sighed and tilted her head, "fine- he's not wrong." She nodded along with her words, looking at her classroom door. "He's not wrong." She mumbled once again and then quickly checked her watch, "ah- I'm late."
4:20 pm | Library
"Pst.."
...
"Seunghee..?"
...
"Tsk, must be really sleepy today huh?" A voice fades into her dream, causing her to snap away from dreamland and flutter her eyes open.
Her bangs flopped right upon her eyes as her cheeks squashed into her book. Pain suddenly strikes her brain as she tried to recall what she was doing before she passed out.
Through her hair strands, she could visualize a yellow container. "Oh wait shoot sorry did I actually wake you up?" The owner of the voice suddenly familiarizes itself to her.
Seunghee immediately sat up, realizing she was still at school. "Huh?" She gulped and quickly removed the hair from her face, finally seeing the boy beside her. "Shoot did break end already?" She could only panic when there was no one else in the library at sight (except for two seniors at the other corner who were immersed in their book).
"What are you doing here- did I oversleep again? Oh gosh wait is it-."
"Hey-." Hyunjin quickly gestured his hands in front of her to calm down. "Hey. No, it's still break time-. Sorry did I disturb your sleep? Sunwoo told me you were studying here so-."
"Oh." She sighed with relief, pushing her hair strand behind her ear as she faced the boy. "What time is it?"
Hyunjin looked over the watch on his wrist with soft hums, "four twenty-one." He then looked up at her. "I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep."
"No- it's fine." Seunghee rubbed the back of her neck with an awkward chuckle. "It's my fault for not sleeping." Her eyes then landed on the croissant and banana milk on the table, blankly blinking at the sight.
"Oh right! I heard you haven't eaten yet so I bought you this." He cleared his throat, looking right at her eyes. "You should eat, you know. We still have classes- you need energy."
Seunghee looked at him with a smile, then back at the food. "Gosh- really?" She tried her best to restrain herself from smiling too much before continuing bare words that could leave her mouth. "You didn't have to, giant."
"Thank you." She reached out on the croissant's packaging then the banana milk. "I'll enjoy it." She whispered, followed by a chuckle as she proceeded to open the packaging. "Have you eaten?"
"Hm?" Hyunjin looked up at her. "Oh- yeah I ate bread with Minho earlier."
"Oh alright."
Hyunjin shut his eyes close, talking to himself whilst the girl takes the croissant from the packaging to take a bite on the bread. "Uh-." He cleared his throat, finally opening his eyes. "Happy Valentine's day."
Seunghee swallows the bread- the epiglottis failing to close over the trachea as she did so, causing her to choke on her food. "Seung hey- careful!" He panicked, grabbing the straw to stab it into the banana milk.
"Tsk. I told you to eat slowly, you never listen." The boy scolds her while offering the banana milk to her. He then began rubbing her back as she slowly drank the banana milk. "Thank you."
Seunghee places the container down before chuckling awkwardly. "Happy hearts day- to you too." She gulped. "Tsk. I have nothing right now, but I'll give you something after our exams." He replied. "Is that okay?"
"Oh- yeah sure sure." She replied still looking away, "I'll also give you mine whenever that day is-." Seunghee took the rest of the bread. "Sorry I forgot about today being valentines day-."
"It's fine." Hyunjin chuckled. "I did too."
Seunghee nods and carried on to place the whole bread into her mouth which caused the boy to shake his head with a quiet snicker. "You seriously- you look like a dumpling." He stated as he rested his chin on his palm, casting his stare on her.
Hyunjin's eyebrows furrowed upwards as he watched her with a slight smile. The girl who was aware that Hyunjin was staring at her made sure to stay cool as she chewed her food quietly, closing her eyes. Finally achieving to finish the food, she first looked away.
"Uh, Giant- I mean uh."
"Hm?"
"Do you mind- I-."
"Yeah?"
Seunghee gulped before taking the drink, finishing it instead then carried on to check the watch on his wrist with her eyes. "You know what- I'm still kinda sleepy I'll uh sleep for now."
Hyunjin nods. "Alright. Want me to wake you up before the break finishes?" He asked.
"Uhm sure, if that's okay with you?" She scratches her head to which the boy replied with a chuckle. "Yeah sure. I don't really have anything to do."
"Okay.. thank you."
"Also." Hyunjin carefully closed her book (after making sure he marked the page she was reading) then placed his jacket that he removed earlier to wrap it around the book- attempting to make a somewhat pillow for her to sleep in.
"You should do something like this if you wanna sleep well, you know," Hyunjin suggested then checked his watch on his wrist. "Okay, you should sleep now."
Seunghee could only tsk at this point, her smile was scarce but that's only because she made sure to keep it that way. "Thank you, Giant." She whispered softly as she rests her head in her folded arms (that was placed on the 'pillow' he made).
Hyunjin smiled. "You're welcome. Sleep well." He whispered back as he moved on to grab a book from his bag. "I'll be here." He lastly reminded her to which she smiled assuredly, closing her eyes.

Hyunjin chuckles a bit then immediately halts his chuckle, suddenly gulping at the thought as he closed his phone. He then placed it down on his desk, laying his head down on his opened book.
His eyes landed on their family picture with a sigh. "When dad was home I could already barely see him, now that he's working I haven't really seen him in a while.." he whispered to himself, feeling lonelier than ever.
He then looked at his mother's picture and as he was about to say something he felt a ball of fur wiggle its way through his arms. "Kkami." He smiled, his attention diverting towards the dog. "Did you miss me that much?"
Kkami could only stop snuggling at him. The dog stared at him with invisible lasers shooting towards him. "I'm kidding." He chuckled. "Or am I? I mean how could you not miss your one and only broth-."
Kkami started growling, halting the boy from speaking further. "Okay sorry, that was too much wasn't it?" He laughed before carrying the dog as he stood up from his seat and then headed towards the bed.
Hyunjin laid down on his bed with the dog snuggling up against his chest. "Kkami do you remember that girl that came here for our project?" He softly mentioned. "Did you?"
The dog looked up at him and tilted his head. "Guess not huh?" He chuckled. "It's okay." He ran his fingers through his furry head, gently caressing it to which the dog closed his eyes in return.
"Love is complicated, isn't it?"
"I used to be confused as to why she would want to help me at that state and like a fool, I was too love struck that I thought I wouldn't be able to love again." He gently moved his fingers down to Kkami's back, rubbing it a little as he sighed. "But why does it feel like I fell harder than before?" He hummed.
"Do you think it's right?"
Kkami opened his eyes and looked at his owner, looking as if he literally was listening. But Hyunjin didn't know this as he withdrew his hands and faced up at the ceiling.
"To love again?"
