Puppets

Come one, come all

big, old and small

to the Grimm brothers' puppet show;

forget your woes

your friends, your foes

and the urge to look below.



Night tricks the clock

the secrets lock

and finally find your seat;

for the acts here

never reappear,

it's a one-time only treat.



Words go unsaid

behind curtains red

and two smirks grow on two faces;

strings checked to hold

fake wings unfold

as their puppets take their places.




And the children's eyes

shine with their lies

and suddenly, they veil;

they start to prance

and blindly dance

singing

'I believe in fairytales.'
