This was semi-based on that comic 👆
Tendou yawned, exhausted by the day. He and Ushijima and Semi had graduated today and he had spent the day entertaining them. They were all three walking to Ushijima's home where Semi was going to chill with them for a bit.
Tendou, as always, was going to sleepover at Ushijima's house.
Semi was munching on a bag of grapes, leaning into the closet door. He looked exhausted. Tendou was laying on the floor, still in his uniform.
Ushijima was sitting on the floor, talking quietly. Tendou suddenly snored and he quieted himself. Ushijima gently put Tendou on his side and removed his blazer so he wasn't hot.
Semi smiled. "High school is over."
"I know."
"You never told him."
Ushijima paused for a moment. "It's okay."
"You ran out of time Ushijima. That's not okay."
The brunette simply nodded. He hated thinking about it. Tendou was perfect to him. Amazing. Talented. Brilliant. Beautiful.
And Ushijima had accidentally fallen in love with him.
Tendou couldn't recognize it at all and thought Ushijima was just a tad bit shy. He thought it was cute and would hug Ushijima and cuddle with him. Yet neither one mentioned the huge issue.
"I'm going to head home. Mom wants to do stuff later." Semi got up. "I'll see you around."
Ushijima nodded again. Semi walked out and Ushijima changed. He got a bowl of cereal and sat by Tendou, watching something on his laptop.
The redhead woke up eventually and sat up, smiling.
"Wa-Kun..." Tendou hugged him from the side. "Can I have the milk from the bowl?"
Ushijima gave him the bowl. Everything was normal.
"Mm... So we finally get to be adults."
"I would hope so."
Tendou smiled. He yawned. "I wanna get cookies. You got those weird ones I like?"
"My mom hasn't gotten more, no."
"Ugh."
Ushijima eased Tendou into a sitting position. He grabbed clothes from a drawer in his room and handed them to Tendou. "Let's go get some."
"Hell yeah!"
Ushijima smiled to himself. He slid on a light coat and waited for Tendou to get dressed before they walked downstairs, saying hi to Ushijima's mother and bye to the huge dog that tried to get to Ushijima. They walked along the sidewalk, Tendou speaking loudly and smiling.
Ushijima just went with it, enjoying his company.
"Hey, Wakatoshi?"
"Yes?"
"What's your favorite type of cookie?"
"Oatmeal creme pie."
Tendou smiled. "Awesome."
Ushijima smiled. He took a deep breath. They got the cookies Tendou wanted and some lemonade. They drank lemonade on the way home, passing over a bridge. It was beautiful tonight.
"Satori?"
"Mm?"
"What do you want to do tonight?"
"Just watch movies and chill like always." Tendou smiled.
Ushijima nodded. He felt Tendou's arm going around him. He relaxed into it, used to the feeling.
Tendou looked up and smiled. "You're so cute."
Ushijima blushed lightly. He was quiet. One of his hands fiddled with the second button on his coat. He got an idea suddenly and popped it out of place. He put it in his pocket and waited until they got home.
Tendou had hurried straight upstairs to where Ushijima's dog was sprawled out on the floor. He was a Newfoundland dog that Ushijima had adopted when the dog was a puppy, hence his childish name of Yokai.
Satori thought it was funny since his first name meant the name of a dog his best friend had adopted.
"Yo-Kai~" Tendou sang. He sat down and Yokai nearly suffocated him by climbing on him. "Umph. You're heavy." His hands held the dog's face. "Open!"
Yokai opened his mouth wide and panted, his breath hitting Tendou like a hot gust of air.
"Ew. Close your mouth."
Ushijima walked in. He waited a moment. "Satori, is he hurting you?"
"Nope!"
"Ah..."
Ushijima sat down by them and turned on the TV in the room. Weird how fast his mother had turned his father's office into an entertainment-type room. Tendou tried his absolute best to snuggle against Ushijima but Yokai was still on him. The redhead laid still for a moment, trying to figure out the reason why he was panicking. "Oh shit, I'm claustrophobic!"
Ushijima looked over before quickly getting Yokai off of Tendou. Instead, the dog plopped on him and licked at his face. "Yokai..."
Satori took a few deep breaths. "Whew... oh! I got you something. You have to wait until the morning when I leave to go get something from my house to open it." He rolled over and opened his bag before pulling out a red-letter, not incredibly fancy but something from the drug store or something.
"Ah. Thank you."
"No problem! I'll leave a bit after I wake up because my mom wants to do lunch with my aunts and grandma. Which is good because they give me money."
Ushijima chuckled softly. "That's not something for you to always look forward to."
"Oh, Ushy be nice."
Ushijima checked the time. Almost eleven. Early for Tendou but somewhat late for him.
Tendou snuggled against Yokai and yawned. "Come cuddle with me."
Ushijima hesitated before huddling against him and the redhead snuggled into his chest.
Tendou looked up before smiling. He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep in the warmth he was wrapped up in. Ushijima ran his fingers up and down his back and whispered nice things to the sleeping male.
In seemingly the middle of the night, Tendou woke up and snuck into the backyard. Ushijima found him and they talked for a while, the sun soon starting to peek up from the horizon.
"Wakatoshi..."
"Yes?"
"I um... I'm serious about the letter. Don't open it until I leave."
"Of course."
Tendou took a deep breath. "Alright."
Ushijima looked over and saw Tendou close his eyes. He looked so peaceful. Sad but serene.
"I wish we had more time."
"We will have time. Believe me."
Tendou nodded. "Meet me in the park at four." He got up and grabbed his things. He left the house, quiet.
Ushijima had only seen him so quiet three times.
This was big...
****
Ushijima opened the letter he'd been given, leaning against Yokai. The paper felt thick but it was alright. He pulled the paper out of the envelope.
The same messy writing that Tendou had practiced to be like one of his favorite fonts had filled the page. So much writing.
All over the page were sentences describing Ushijima. His hair, his eyes, his volleyball skills, his voice, his hands. Ushijima smiled at it, loving it.
He turned the page over.
"I love you. I'm sorry. I noticed all of those things over the past years and for some reason, I can't unlove you. I'm sorry Wakatoshi."
Ushijima sighed softly. He felt all sorts of warm and fuzzy and nice.
The redamancy of this was amazing.
It felt right.
Ushijima glanced at his phone. Three-thirty. He got up and hurriedly grabbed his school jacket and shoes and ran. Even if he ran he would be late.
When he got there Tendou was up in a tree, nestled into a curve in the wood safely. He was either resting or sleeping.
"Satori!"
Tendou's eyes opened a bit before opening wide. "Wa-Kun!"
Ushijima held out a hand. "Come down."
Tendou got down and smiled. "So? Is everything okay?"
Ushijima took off the second button from his jacket. He held it out.
Tendou stared at it. "Wakatoshi..."
"It's tradition. Take it. Satori if what you said was true, take it."
"High school is over..."
"Satori. I meant to do this yesterday but I didn't want to do it in case you didn't want it."
Tendou looked up. He smiled, eyes a bit watery. He took the button and held it to his chest. "Whew... Okay."
Ushijima waited until Tendou looked back up. He smiled. Tendou smiled too. Ushijima opened his arms and Tendou hugged him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"It's okay." Tendou hugged him tight to himself. "I love you Wa-Kun."
"I love you too Satori." Ushijima rubbed his hair and kept him close. "I'm right here."
