Storm's POV
It has been a few hours since we left the witch's house and the dark sad cloud has never left us. I still felt like an axe was hanging over all of our heads. And I could tell that my friend's felt the exact same way.
"How far from the house again?" Oni asked.
"About an hour walk again, or thirty minutes run in wolf form," Nolan informed before he looked down at his sleeping mate who was in his arms. I smiled at the couple before I found myself also looking down at my sleeping pregnant mate in my arm's.
He looked so beautiful, with his slightly tousled hair that partly covered one of his closed eyes. As cute soft snores escaped his parted lip's.
"He looks so peaceful like that, doesn't he?" The Oni's caused me to look up at him. To catch his eye but he had already turned back his gaze to his mate.
"Yeah he does," I replied as I looked back down at Wesley who had just slightly moved.
"I don't want to lose him," Nolan stated as he cradled Markus closer to his chest.
"He's exhausted," Nolan commented as he caught me staring at his deep sleeping mate.
"They all are," Oni began.
"They don't need to be going through all this," he finished with a sigh. Before his gaze returned to Mary-kay.
"I just can't lose her, you know?" Oni asked as he buried his nose in Mary's hair.
"I know what you mean Oni, and I promise that we're not losing any of our mate's," I stated and Nolan nodded in agreement.
'Goddess I hope you keep him safe,' Zed stated.
'Me too,' I agreed.
The mood has been depressing and fearful, as no one had said a word since our last conversation. Our mate's had soon moved to our backs, as we had shifted into our wolf forms. To give our human legs and arms a rest.
"There it is!" Nolan shouted in relife causing Oni and I to jump. But when we looked up just as Nolan had informed. A little way in front of us, was the brown roof of our pack house. Peeking out from the top of a few trees.
I remember that my father had told me. That our ancestors had specifically built our pack house in the middle of the forest. To keep humans from finding us, as they had lived in a time where human hunters were killing them out.The pack house was also built there to help us hide from rouges and other packs or vampires. So the house was kind of hard to spot without double taking. But because of my heightened senses and the fact that I knew where I was going. I spotted it instantly.
"Tiger, you have to get up now baby," I stated through our private mate link.
Wesley groaned in annoyance but in a matter of seconds. I felt him stir on my back before he sat up. I then bent down so he could get off me, before my Beta, Delta and I shifted and was handed our clothes by our mates.
"I'm sorry that we had to wake you guys up from sleeping," I told the three vampires that were glaring at me.
"But we don't know what to expect when we arrive on pack grounds. And to be able to better protect ourselves and you. You guys need to be awake and vigilant," I seriously stated.
"And if we waltz right in with you guys on our back like damsels," Nolan began.
"It would give the pack the idea that you guys can easily be bullied," Oni finished.
We looked at our still cranky mate's for any sign that they understand. And so when they all gave a nod I pulled Wesley into my side by his waist. Before I began to walk with my Beta and Delta right behind.
"I smell them already," Oni stated as he walked on the right side of Wesley, firmly holding his mate's hand.
"Yeah," Nolan replied as held Markus closer to his side. Then just as we had expected a group of pack warriors came out of nowhere and surrounded us in wolf form. But when they saw that it wasn't a threat. Most of them shifted back to human and lowered their heads in respect to their soon- to-be Alpha, Beta and Delta.
I felt Wesley's heart beat quicken as he began to shiver from fright beside me. But he relaxed when I began to rub up and down his back soothingly.
Before I lowered my head to his ears and whispered.
"I'm here Tiger." This allowed him to completely calm down just before one of the warrior wolves. Who I identified as Tony, one of our head warriors.
"Alpha Storm, Beta Oni, and Delta Nolan. I didn't realize that it was you guys. Your scents were so hard to recognize, as it is badly mixed with that of the vampires," Tony stated as his eyes moved to Markus, then Mary-kay. Before his eyes moved to Wesley then down to his stomach before back up to my eyes.
"It's good to see you Tony, I came to speak with my dad. Where is he?" I asked in my alpha voice. Which caused some of the other warrior wolves to bare their necks in submission.
"He's in his office with the master of the Von stein Clan," Tony informed . Causing my once nervous and shy mate. To immediately brighten up at the mention of his father.
"My dads here?" Wesley asked quickly.
Tony looked at Wesley before he trailed down to his big stomach. Before it returned to my mate's eager face.
"Yes, he and the other members of his Clan," Tony stated blankly before he looked back at me.
"Why are they here?" Nolan asked.
"Their Clan was being hunted by human hunters. So__," Tony was saying but was cut off by me.
"Hunters?" I asked and Tony nodded.
"Hunters haven't been around for years, where on earth did they come from," Oni asked.
"They have only appeared recently, so we don't really have that much data on them. But what we do know is that they are brutal and highly trained. They killed five of our men and seven of the vampires including the master's wife," Tony stated.
"WHAT!?" The vampires all shouted in unison causing our heads to snap in their direction.
They all looked horrified with wide glossy eyes.
"What did you say happened to my mother?" Wesley asked with a shaky voice.
Tony's eyes widened as he realized what he just spilled. He then looked at the ground before he whispered.
"The master's wife and mate had been taken during one of the hunters' attacks. And had been missing for a few weeks. Most likely she's dead," Tony stated in a small voice as he avoided Wesley's heart broken gaze. As he stumbled back.
"No!" Wesley shouted as he violently shook his head.
"No! She's not dead, she's just missing!" My mate shouted as tears began to run down his face.
"When did all this happen?" Oni demanded as he tried to comfort his crying mate.
Tony looked us over before his eyes gave away what he was feeling.
"A week after you guys disappeared," Tony said.
"It's Alpha Killian isn't it?" Wesley whispered. And Tony just nodded.
"He allied himself with witches now hunters how far__," Nolan was saying but was cut off by Tony"
"What witches?" Tony asked with wide surprised eyes. I looked up at him from my sobbing mate before Markus spoke.
"Didn't you know?" Markus asked as he looked up from his mates chest.
"The Knight Walkers Pack has allied themselves with Amara. The High Priestess of the largest and strongest coven. Known as the Coven of Evil," Markus finished. Causing all the warriors to gasp.
"No way," Tony stated in disbelief.
"We need to tell this to Alpha Jack immediately," one of the warriors behind Tony stated. And Tony nodded before he ordered one of the guys to take over. He then gestured for us to follow him as he began to walk.
Walking to the pack house was completely different from the light and happy arua you'd usually get when walking in from the backyard. Now instead of laughter and joy filled talking that you'd usually hear. All I could hear was crying and sniffles. And instead of the bright and happy expression you'd normally see. There were bloodshot puffy eyes and saddened expressions. And let me be honest, it chilled me to the bone.
Tony was about to open the door as we had finally reached it. But before he could do so a beautiful vampire girl who reminded me of Wesley beat him to it. The girl looked like she had been crying alot, with her puffy bloodshot eyes. Like the people I had previously seen. Her skin was unbelievably pale, indicating that she hadn't drank any blood in a while. Or bathed for that matter, with her overly messy bun and huge t-shirt and baggy sweats.
"Wesley?" The girl asked as she squinted in an attempt to find him.
'She's losing her sight because of the lack of blood,' Zed stated and my eyes widened.
"Ambrosia what happened?" Wesley asked as he stared at the girl as her eyes finally connected with his.
The girl stared at Wesley for the longest time, as if trying to imbed his face in her mind. Before she burst into tears and threw herself into my mate's arms.
"They took her Wesley, they took mom," the girl cried.
"Who specifically took her?" I asked, causing the girl to look up at me over Wesley's shoulder.
'You know that already Storm. Don't be an insensitive dick," Zed stated softly.
'I know I'm just checking something," I replied and waited for Zed's killer to come back. But there was none, I guess he's mourning the loss of some of his pack members.
"Hunters," Ambrosia whispered, before her eyes rolled back into her head as she fell to the ground fainting.
Tony was at her side in a matter of seconds, catching her before she hit the ground.
"Ambrosia," Wesley called but the girl didn't respond as Tony got up with her in his arms.
"Don't worry, she just needs some blood," Tony stated before he walked inside and laid her on the couch.
"I'll go get some," Oni volunteered before he walked out of the room. Leaving his mate to hold my weeping mate.
"Why hasn't she eaten?" I asked, as I watched Tony hold the unconscious Ambrosia in his arms.
"I told her to drink, but she insisted that we had to find her mother first and then she'd eat," Tony informed us. And for a minute I was confused as to why he knew this. Until Zed answered.
'Their mates dumbass."
'Oh,' I stated before Oni walked back in with four blood bags. He gave one to Markus, his mate, and mine. Before he handed the last one to Tony who immediately poked two holes into the bag. He then took the crimson liquid into his mouth before he transferred it to Ambrosia by his mouth.
"We should give them their privacy and go see my dad," I suggested before I took my mate's hand in mine.
"Emm," Oni and Nolan agreed in unison before they followed me and grabbed their mate's hands. Before we made our way down the white halls and to my father's office door. On the door was written in bold letters. 'ALPHA."
'Now I see where you get your cockness from,' Zed mused, causing me to mentally smile.
'Shut up,' I said before I pushed the room door open.
The five heads in the room all instantly snapped in our direction as we entered the room.
The first person I saw as I entered the room, was my dad who sat behind his desk. He looked awful and tired. He was thinner than the last time we spoke and under his eye's had big black eye bag. From lack of sleep.
The other person I noticed was Oni's dad and Nolan's dad. My dad's Beta and Delta. They looked equally as terrible as my dad, with their untamed hair drooping eyes chapped lips and thinner frames.
Next was a man who resembled both Ambrosia and Wesley and I assumed him to be Wesley's brother. He also looked tired, underfed and pale.
Finally the last person I saw, was who I believed was Wesley's dad. As he looked the worst out of all the people I had seen today. He looked extremely pale and thin. With his puffy eyes, tousled hair, big eye bag and strained voice as he asked.
"Wesley is that you?"
"Dad!" Wesley in disbelief of his father's apperance.
Oh goddess
This is what I imagine the pack house looking like. Just surrounded by more forest and no front garden or pathway. I do not own that picture and therefore I take no credit for it.
