Barry woke up to the sound of music coming from the kitchen. Curious, he went downstairs to see his uncle singing and dancing to one direction.
People around the room chuckled at the sight. Barry smiled as he saw the memory of his uncle.
Barry let out a loud laugh that got his uncles attention "Barry!" He shouted still dancing "good you're up, come help me with dinner" Barry smiled and grabbed an apron joining his uncle in the kitchen. Barry started cutting some carrots while his uncle still sang and danced around him. Suddenly his uncle took the knife out of his hands before swinging Barry around "cmon bare, I know you know the words!" Barry let out a chuckle as his uncle started singing again " if only you saw what I can see, you'll understand why I want you so desperately, that's why I'm looking at you and I can't believe, you don't know uh oh" his uncle pointed at him silently telling him to sing the next line, Barry rolled his eyes fondly before singing along "that's what makes you beautiful!" His uncle whooped and got back to stirring and dancing this time with Barry following his lead. Soon enough Barry and his uncle were dancing around and belting out lyrics.
Everyone around the theater smiled at the family. Some of the warblers smiled at the sight, it was rare to see their captain so relaxed and happy. Oliver chuckled at the sight of his blushing boyfriend "oh cmon bare this is adorable" Barry glared at him.
When the song ended both Barry were out of breath and laughing. "You got a good voice kid" his uncle said smiling "you get that from your mother" Barry gave his uncle a bittersweet smile as he puts a sympathetic hand on his shoulder "yeah, I could tell"
"Oh burn!" Yelled Cisco. Everyone laughed and Iris turned to Barry "nice to know that you'll always be a smart ass" Barry smirked "it's in my nature" that cause everyone to laugh and the warblers smiled at seeing a glimpse of their old friend
his uncle let out an offended laugh as they turned back to finish dinner.
{time skip to after they eat}
After Barry helped clean up after dinner he turned to head upstairs before he was stopped by his uncle "hey, Barry" he said seriously "could we talk for a minute?" Barry nodded warily before following his uncle into his study. He and his uncle sat down on the leather couch and faced each other. Barry looked at his uncle expectantly. "Look Barry, we need to talk" his uncle said putting a hand on Barry's knee. Barry quirked an eyebrow "about" his uncle looked at the ground before looking right at Barry. Joe and I have have talking and well, we think you should consider changing your name" at this Barry startled "Why?Why?!" His uncle put a hand on his shoulder "look bare as much as we both hate to admit it, the name Allen isn't the best thing to have at the moment" Barry looked down, logically he knew his uncle was right but he couldn't help but feel like he was betraying his father somehow. And as if he read his mind his uncle spoke again "your father would want this, he wants you to be safe" Barry nodded still not meeting his uncle eyes. His uncles eyes softened as he looked at the boy in front of him "I'll give you sometime to think about it" and with that he hugged Barry and then walked out of the room. Barry stayed there a moment longer before following him out.
{time skip to an hour later}
Barry is laying in his bed when he hears a soft knock on his door. Barry sighed "come in" the door slowly opened to reveal Cece. "Hey Barry!" She said it with such a wide smile on his face that he couldn't help but smile back "Hey princess"
People around the room gave soft smiles as they looked at the two, the New Directions were shocked to see this soft side of Sebastian. Kirt and Blaine looked at Barry as he sat with Oliver. He looked calm and relaxed and nothing like the boy they knew.
cece giggled and closed the door before jumping in the bed and Barry's stomach in the process, he grunted and sat up cece moving to sit next to him. He looked at cece before saying " your dad wants me to change my last name" cece perked up at that and coked her head to the side "why?" Barry smiled sadly and ruffled her curls "grown up reasons that you don't need to worry about". Cece sat in silence before she suddenly perked up and climbed into Barry's lap "that means you'd be like my older brother!" She said with a huge smile on her face "huh" Barry said with a slight smile on his face "I guess I would" cece giggled "Barry Smythe" barry winced
"Yeah, no that is not a good name" Santana said looking at Barry "thank god you changed it" Barry laughed "yeah trust me I know" he said smiling at her before shrugging "but to be honest anything is better than Bartholomew" they all laughed and agreed
"that doesn't sound right" cece nodded her head yeah you're right" she perked up and said "then we should change your first name to!" Barry giggled a bit as cece continued "it has to start with a ssss sound like cece" she said pointing at Barry. Barry raised an eye brow at that "why?" Cece just stared at him "so we can match dummy" Barry exaggeratedly rolled his eyes "of course I should've known" cece shushed him with a finger to his lips.
The glee teams let's out a laugh at seeing Sebastian Smythe of all people shushed by a six year old girl. "Man" started Thad "she really nodded you around" Barry looked at him faking a serious face "shes powerful" the warblers all laughed loudly and the teams chuckled.
she furrowed her brow, her small face scrunched as she thought of names until suddenly she gasped and looked at Barry "I got it" she said bouncing on him "how about Sebastian" she made a show of the by saying it with jazz hands. Barry raised an eyebrow "Sebastian?" Cece nodded "yeah like the little mermaid"
The warblers all gasped and looked at each other. Barry's eyes widened as he saw what was coming but it was to late. "UNDER THE SEA,UNDER THE SEA DARLING ITS BETTER DOWN WHERE ITS WETTER TAKE IT FROM MEEEE" the warblers all started belting out under the sea while Barry groaned and hid his face in his hands. When they finished everyone looked at them confused so Nick explained "we all used to make fun of him by singing under the sea because of the little mermaid and now that we know that's where he actually got the idea from makes to 10x funnier!" He laughed high-fiveing jeff and Thad. Barry groaned "I hate you guys" Wes smirked "no you don't" Barry just grumbled in response because he didn't.
Barry giggled a bit before saying it slowly "Sebastian Smythe" he quirked his head while looking up a bit "I kinda like the sound of that" cece laughed and clapped her hands thoroughly proud of herself. Barry smiled down at her. While replaying the name in his head. Sebastian Smythe.
{time skip cause I'm lazy}
The next day Barry stood outside his uncles office. He went to knock on the door but he hesitated, did he really want to do this? Change his name? His fathers name?
Kurt looked over at Barry with a raised eyebrow "was it really that hard for you to change your name?" He asked accusingly. Barry faltered at the tone before turning to face Kurt " I've been fighting on behalf of my father since the incident. I was one of the only people he had on his side. I was proud to be an Allen, I still am. So changing my name to escape from it felt like I was giving up on him." Kurt was shocked for a moment before nodding and turning back to the screen. Oliver hugged Barry closer to him, and Barry gave him a grateful smile and pecked him on the lips.
Barry shook his head, no he had to he knew it was the best option making up his mind he knocked on the door. He heard his uncle say come in before opening the door and stepping into the office. His uncle looked up and smiled "Barry" he said brightly "what can I do for you?" Barry nervously shifted on his feet "uhm it's about the whole changing my name thing" he looked up at his uncle who nodded for him to continue "well, you were right and I've decided it's best if I change it" his uncle stood up and gave him a sweet smile " that's good to hear Barry" he put a hand on his shoulder " I know this is hard for you to do and I'm proud of you for making this decision" Barry smiled at his uncle who gave him one right back before clapping his hands and stepping away " ok! From this point forward you are Bartholomew Henry Smythe!"
Santana yelled at that "god it's such a bad name!" Everyone laughed at her comment
Barry winced at that. "Actually" he said looking toward his uncle "I was thinking Sebastian" his uncle quired his head to the side in thought "Sebastian Smythe" he smiled "I like it" Barry smiled and laughed "yeah, cece picked it out" his uncle sat down and laughed "I bet she did, let me guess" he pointed at Barry "the little mermaid?" Barry nodded. his uncle chuckled and shook his head "she does love that movie"
" She really did love that movie" barry chuckled " She made me watch it with her like a hundred times" he said with a smile
Barry smiled. His uncle looked at him "Sebastian Smythe it is" Barry nodded. Yeah, Sebastian Smythe.
{yes. It's another time skip}
The next couple days consisted of filling out paperwork to change his name hanging around the house and relaxing with his uncle and cousin. Barry and Cece are seen having a tea party in Cece's room, both of them wearing tutus and tiaras.
There was a pause before everyone burst out laughing. "Screw you guys, I looked elegant!" Barry yelled with a slight pout. Oliver smiled at him "yes you did babe" he said before smirking at him " did you fight her for the red tutu?" Barry blushed "it's my favorite color ok?!" Everyone laughed even harder
They clinked there plastic tea cups together and giggled. Just then there uncle walked into the room. Cece looked up at him and pouted "Daddy! You can't just interrupt a princess tea party" she looked at Barry who nodded in agreement and looked at his uncle "yes, how very rude of you"
Everyone laughed at the exchange
his uncle just shook his head and laughed "oh my apologies princess but I come with news" he picked picked up Cece and sat in her seat before placing her on his lap. Barry but down his fake tea cup " what's up?" His uncle looked at him "well I have a surprise for you all" they both looked at him expectantly "well as you know I have to go away for work and sadly you all can't come with me" cece pouted at that "so instead you all are going to be staying with your aunt in- drumroll please" he said looking at them expectantly. Barry and Cece laughed and started a drumroll on their legs
Alex smiled and looked at Barry "your uncle seems like a great man" barry smiled at that "yeah he is"
and their uncle continued "....PARIS!"
The arrowverse teams followed suit "PARIS?!" They all looked at him before Sara spoke up "you lived in paris?" Barry looked at her and shrugged "yeah for like a year" Thea spoke up next "why didn't you tell us?" Barry's face suddenly turned solemn "I don't really like remembering it" they all wanted to ask what he meant but by the look on his face they could tell he did t want to talk about about it and left it alone. Besides they were sure it would be revealed.
Barry and Ceces eyes widened "are you serious?!" Barry yelled wide eyed. His uncle replied "yes, I am. No go start packing!" Cece squealed and grabbed Barry's hand pulling him with her so they can start packing together. 'Paris huh?' Barry though to himself 'this is going to get interesting'.
