1 week later
Iyanna was home and healing and I was doing what I do best.
Drinking and killing!
More drinking than killing but some bodies were to be laid out soon.
Starting with Ruiz and his gang and ending with Cassie.
She may not be a problem now but I wasn't waiting for her to become one either.
"Does this dress make me look fat?" Iyanna said letting out a breath of tiredness.
"No, and why are you out of breath?"
"Because I was in the closet looking for clothes to try on"
"Okay, follow-up, question why?"
I said confused.
"Stefano" She whined and stomped.
"You look, fine baby, your not even showing yet"
"Ughh feels like I'm already about to burst"
She said as she walked over and sat on my lap.
My hand placed firmly under her ass, as I gripped it gently.
My eyes focusing on the straps that drape on her shoulder.
I took my index finger and slowly knocked one of her straps down.
"When did the doctor say you can start physical activity again?" I asked with a smirk placed on my face.
"Your the reason I'm pregnant now," She said getting up from me and fixing her strap.
"I have no shame in that," I said with my hand placed on the side of my face as I watched the dress snatch her curves.
*Knock* knock*
I furrowed an eyebrow at Iyanna as she had one foot on the step making her way back up the stairs but then stopping at the sound of the knock.
I approached the door slowly.
I opened it to see Cassie again.
I quickly pulled out my gun and placed it to the center of her head.
"Okay my patience has officially gone thin with you," I said as I was ready to pull the trigger.
"Wait, wait, please listen to me, they're trying to kill me"
"Not my problem, I got people trying to kill me too, welcome to the party"
"Let her in Stefano" I shot a glare to Iyanna.
I lowered the gun and stepped to the side letting her in.
"You must be Cassie, Stefano's sister," Iyanna said greeting her.
"Supposed sister," I said cutting in.
"I'm Iyanna, Stefano's wife," She said handing her a glass of water.
"So are you stalking me now?" I said walking over to the island.
"Yes and no"
"I went back to the hospital but they said you checked out, the nurse still had your discharge papers so I took a peek and found where you lived"
"You said something earlier about someone trying to kill you?" Iyanna asked with a curious look on her face.
"The stragglers, they've been chasing me down for weeks"
The stragglers was a local gang that ran the rough part of Chicago.
"I'm sure it's for a good reason, did you show to their house and pretend to be one of their dead daughters?" I said with sarcasm.
"Stefano" Iyanna nudged me.
"I was living with one of them, one day I decided to get up and leave...... with a couple of dollars"
"I'm guessing it was more than just a couple dollars"
"Anyways," she said rolling her eyes.
"They got me at one point threatened to kill me, that's when I told them my brother was the Mafia king of Chicago"
"And they believed you?" Iyanna asked surprise.
"Nope, they said that someone like Stefano wouldn't let his family or anyone he loves, be out here in the streets like this," She said shooting me a glare.
I swallowed hard.
"So I told them that my brother would personally pay them a visit and now here I am"
"So just to make sure we're clear here, your running from a bunch of leather-wearing ruggrats who claim to be thugs, and you put my name to them as a prize?" I laughed hearing me repeat it back.
"Listen, I'm not some guy who goes around scaring people off so if that's what you're here for then I'm sorry to burst your bubble, take your kill like a champ tho," I said winking at her before going upstairs.
"Give us a moment, there's food and more drinks in the fridge if you need anything," Iyanna's voice said lingering behind me.
I sat on the bed and let out a breath.
Iyanna came in behind me and closed the door.
"Why are you being so hard on her? we should just hear her out"
"May I remind you Iyanna that hearing people out is what got you stabbed and me almost kilt on multiple occasions."
"Let's just say I'm not open to it," I said placing my hands on my face as I rubbed it.
"She's in trouble"
"So are we Iyanna, did you forget that the man who almost had you kilt is still out there"
"Why do you keep bringing that up?" Iyanna said with frustration
"BECAUSE I don't have time to play hero to lost girls when I still have a family to protect Iyanna"
I said standing up now frustrated myself.
"You don't turn your back on your family and that's what you're doing to her"
" We don't even know her, why are pushing on this Iyanna?"
"God, when did you become so insensitive?" Iyanna scoffed.
"When did you become so nieve?" I said back.
She slapped me, that was the first time she ever laid a hand on me and I'm not going to say I was surprised but it did catch me off gaurd.
"I had no one my whole entire life, no father, no mother I was lost just like this girl and I wish that I got lucky enough to find a lost relative instead it never happened, so forgive me for being understanding," She said turning around and walking to the other side of the room.
I let out a breath.
"I get that Iyanna, but we have to keep our guard up"
"This baby has no grandmother, no gradfather, no aunt, no uncle"
"We are all this baby has what if something happens to us, who's our baby going to be with?" She said letting out a breath and sitting on the bed.
"I'm not asking you to trust her and let her in with open arms all I'm asking is that you listen to her and hear her out"
The silence was in the air for a moment.
"Alright," I said letting out a breath.
I opened the door and walked back down the stairs to the kitchen.
"Your wife seems nice, let me guess she the one with the patience"
Cassie said which made me chuckle a little.
"Yea sometimes I think she has too much"
"Look, Stefano, I can only imagine what you have been going through being a part of the mafia and all, and I know you don't trust me, but take my word when I say I'm not here to harm you."
I saw the pure honesty twinkle in her eye, either she was really telling the truth or she was a really good liar.
"How old are you?"
"18, you?"
"22"
"Wow and you're already married, looks like you didn't waste anytime"
I chuckled lightly.
"No need to when you find the right one why waste time?"
I said twisting my wedding ring around my finger.
"So, is mom still alive?"
I said clearing my throat and lowering my head.
"I don't know, she left me 8 months ago in Kansas."
"Looks like abandonment is still her best skill"
"Father?"
"Don't know either, mom picked up everything and left one night when I was three and we never looked back since."
It was quiet.
"So how was she, growing up?
I said glancing over to Cassie.
"She always kept a smile on her face," She said smiling as the memories replayed in her head.
"Even when things were terrible she would always make sure that through the eyes of her kids they were perfect"
" I don't know why she left you and I'm sorry that she did, but I can promise you that she loved you and not a day went by that she didn't think about you"
I cleared my throat again.
"Get some rest, there are extra pillows and blankets in the closet, Ill sort this thing out with the stragglers tomorrow," I said walking from the kitchen and back up the steps.
