"It's the same symbol." Sam said as they were looking at a picture of the hookmans hook.

Well, except Alison. She was too busy watching a butterfly on the roof of the impala.

"Seems like it is the spirit of Jacob Karns." Sam said.

"All right, well let's find the dudes grave, salt and burn the bones, and put him down." Dean said glancing back at his quiet daughter.

"After execution, Jacob Karns was laid to rest in old north cemetery in an unmarked grave." Sam read.

"Super." Dean said sarcastically leaning off the impala.

"Okay, so, we know it's Jacob Karns, but we still don't know where he'll manifest next." Sam said. "Or why."

Dean noticed a paper lodged in between his windshield wipers, he picked it up and looked at it.

"I'll take a wild guess about why. I think your friend Lori has something to do with this." Dean grabbed Alison off the hood making her whine as the butterfly flew away.

Dean opened her door and started to put her in her car seat.

"I wan sit up fwont!" She told dean.

"Nope, you're too little." Dean tapped her nose and finished buckling her as she pouted.

He handed her her sippy cup and she immediately stopped pouting and smiled.

~~~
Dean walked to Sam as he chuckled to some dancing girls.
"Man, you've been holding out on me. This college thing is awesome!" Dean told his brother.
"This wasn't really my experience." Sam stated.
"Let me guess— library, studying, straight A's." Dean listed off.
Alison gasped as be bumped into a guy, she was lost. She couldn't see over anybody because, well, like dean said, she was too little.
The guy looked down at her and chuckled.
Ali was a little scared if she were honest.
"You don't look like you're in college." The guy commented crouching down to ali.
"No..." Alison told him.
"Then what are you doing here?"
Alison didn't answer his question.
"I need help fining da—" Alison stopped herself, she didn't want to blow their covers. "My bwovers." She finished.
"Hm. I'll help you out." The boy told her.
"Tant see!" Alison said.
The guy chuckled then lifted Alison up.
"You see them anywhere?"
"Dere!" Alison pointed towards the two Winchester men.
The guy moved a little so he could see where the girl was pointing too. Once he saw them he started towards them.
"Hey!" He called out to them making the two turn.
Deans eyes widened slightly when he saw Alison.
"You two need to keep up with your sister, she shouldn't even be here." The guy handed Alison off to them.
"Right, thanks." Sam said fixing Ali on his hip.
The man turned and walked away.
Sam and Dean looked at Alison.
"Dot wost!" She told them.
"We're sorry ali." Sam apologized to her.
"It Otay." She smiled a little.
Sam handed dean a paper.
"1932– clergyman arrested for murder." Dean read as they started walking. "1967– seminarian held in hippie rampage."
"There's a pattern here." Sam told him. "In both cases, the suspect was a man of religion who openly preached against immorality and them found himself wanted for killings he claimed were the work of an invisible force, killings carried out— get this— with a sharp instrument."
"What's the connection to Lori?" Dean asked.
"A man of religion who openly preaches against immortality." Sam said again.
Dean then understood and nodded.
"Except this time instead of saving the whole town, he's trying to save his only daughter."
"Reverend Sorenson." Dean said. "Do you think he's summoning the spirit?"
"Maybe. Or you know how a poltergeist can haunt a person instead of a place?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, the spirit latches onto the Reverends repressed emotions, feeds off them. Yeah, okay." Dean nodded.
"Without the Reverend ever even knowing it." Sam added on.
"Either way, you should keep an eye on Lori tonight." Dean told Sam.
"What about you?" Sam asked.
Dean looked over at a girl standing by the pool table, then sighed.
"I'm gonna go see if I can find that unmarked grave." He said disappointedly.
Sam handed Alison off to dean.
He then sadly looked down and brushed past Sam.
~~~

Alison held deans hand as they walked through the cemetery. She was carrying the duffel bag that was a little big for a her and slightly heavy.

She didn't like cemeteries. They freaked her out a little.

"What we wooking for, 'gain?" Ali asked.

"We are looking for Jacob Karns grave." Dean told her.

"Oh." Alison sighed.

They continued walking while looking around.

They then heard a rustling noise making them freeze and Ali gasped tightening her grip on deans hand.

She moved closer to him.

"Daddy?" She asked scaredly.

"Don't worry, it's just the wind." Dean told Alison to calm her down.

"You sure?" Alison asked.

"I'm positive baby, calm down."

Alison nodded and they kept walking.

After a moment, dean stopped and took a closer look at a tombstone.

"Here we go." He said.

They started towards the small hill and started down it.

Alison tripped and tumbled down, she stopped at the bottom and laughed.

"Whoa, kiddo! You okay?" Dean asked rushing to her side.

"I otay." She giggled.

"Are you sure?" Dean helped her up.

"Yeah." She giggled again.

They approached a tombstone with the hookmans symbol engraved on the front.

~~~
Dean had started digging and after a while he was out of breath.
"That's it." He stood up straight. "Next time, I get to watch the cute girl." He said.
Alisons jaw dropped slightly.
"I fought I was tute!"
Dean looked over at her.
"You are cute! I meant cute as in...a different cute." Dean told her.
"Oh." Alison smiled a little.
Dean chuckled nervously and quickly got back to digging. He pretty soon reached the coffin and broke the wood on top.
"Hello, preacher." Dean greeted the bones.
He threw the shovel to the side on higher ground beside Alison.
"Can you pass that to me, bubba?" Dean asked gesturing to the duffel bag.
Alison nodded then pushed the ba closer to dean, he smiled at her then dug into the bag.
He got the things he needed, then hopped up out of the hole.
Once he salted the bones and poured the gasoline on them, he got out a match and lit it.
"Goodbye, preacher." Dean tossed the match in.
Alison glanced at Dean then the flames.
"Dabye." Alison waved.
~~~

Dean held Alisons hand as they rushed into the hallway.

They tried getting by, but were stopped by some cops.

"It's all right, we're with him. That's my brother. Hey, brother." Dean held a hand up so Sam could see them.

Sam turned to look at them.

"Let him through." They cop talking to Sam told them.

"Thanks." Dean thanked them, then brushed past.

He picked Alison up and walked towards Sam.

"Go ahead." The officer told Sam.

Sam then started towards his family.

"You okay?" Dean asked his brother.

"Yeah." Sam said.

"What the hell happened?" Dean asked.

"Hookman."

"You saw him?" Dean questioned.

"Damn right. Why didn't you torch the bones?" Sam asked.

"I did. Are you sure it's the spirit of Jacob Karns?" Dean asked, Ali took a drink of her apple juice from her sippy cup.

"Sure as hell looked like him. And that's not all. I don't think the spirit is latching into the Reverend." Sam said.

"Well, yeah, the guy wouldn't send the hookman after himself." Dean pointed out.

"I think it's latching onto Lori." Sam told dean. "Last night she found out that her father is having an affair with a married woman."

"So what?"

"So, she's upset about it. She's upset about the immorality of it. She told me she was raised to believe that if you do something wrong, you get punished." Sam explained.

"Okay, so she's conflicted, and the spirit of preacher Karns is latching into her emotions and doing the punishing for her." Dean said.

"Right. Rich comes on too strong. Taylor tries to make her into a party girl. Dad has an affair." Sam listed off.

"Remind me not to piss this girl off." Dean said. "But I burned those bones. I buried them in salt. Alison knows, she was there. Why didn't that stop him?"

"You must've missed something." Sam said.

"No. I burned everything in that coffin." Dean said, Alison nodded.

"Did you get the hook?" Sam questioned.

"The hook?"

"It was the murder weapon, and in a way it was part of him."

"So, like the bones, the hook is a source of his power." Dean said.

"So, if we find the hook..." Sam started.

"We stop the hookman." Sam and Dean said in unison causing alison to giggle.

~~~
The three sat at the table in the library, the two men doing research, Alison reading her own kids book called "Goodnight moon."
Alison was good at reading, other than her pronunciation. She could pronounce her letters fine if it was only one letter.
However if it was a word, it was harder for her to pronounce them.
"Here's something, I think." Dean spoke up. "Logbook, Iowa state penitentiary. Karns, Jacob— personal affects, disposition thereof." He read.
"Does it mention the hook?" Sam asked.
"Upon execution, all earthly items shall be remanded to the prisoners house of worship, St. Barnabas church." Dean continued reading then looked up.
"Isn't that where loris father preaches?" Sam asked.
"Yeah."
"Where Lori lives?"
"Maybe that's why the hookmans been haunting reverends and reverends' daughters for the past 200 years." Dean suggested.
"But if the hook were at the church or loris house, don't you think someone might've seen it?" Sam questioned. "I mean, a blood-stained silver-handled hook?"
"Check the church records." Dean put the cap on his pen and got up. "Ali." He said, but the girl didn't look up from the book.
"Alison." He said again.
Ali looked up at him.
"Come on." He held his hand out to her.
She took it and slid off her seat.
They moved over to the church records and sat down.
"St. Barnabas donations 1862. Received— silver-handled hook from state penitentiary, reforged." Sam read and sighed. "They melted it down, made it into something else." He looked over at dean.
~~~

The impala rolled to a stop by the church, they all got out and started towards it.

"All right. We can't take any chances, anything silver goes in the fire." Dean stated.

"I agree." Sam said. "So loris still at the hospital, we'll have to break in."

"All right, take your pick." Dean said.

"I'll take the house."

"Okay."

Sam then started past him.

"Hey." Dean said stopping him and making him turn back. "Stay out of her underwear drawer."

Ali was confused.

They went into the church and started up the fire, dean started throwing things into it.

The door creaked, and then Sam came down the stairs.

"I got everything that even looks silver." Sam told them.

"Better safe than sorry." Dean said.

Sam dropped the bag full of stuff onto the floor, Alison leaned over to look into it.

Then they heard footsteps approaching.

"Move, move." Dean told Sam.

Alison got up to go with them, but dean stopped her.

"No. No, you stay here. Keep throwing stuff, but stay quiet." He told her.

She nodded and the two men left her, not even a minute later, dean came back.

"Where Sammy?" Alison asked him.

"He's helping someone." Dean gave her a small smile and ruffled her hair.

A a few moments of throwing stuff into the fire, they heard screaming from above them.

Looked over at Alison.

"Stay here, keep going." He said then rushed upstairs.

Alison took a small breath and continued throwing items into the fire, but this time she picked up the pace.

A few seconds later, she saw dean rushing down the stairs. He went to the fire and threw a necklace in.

They watched as it began to melt.

Dean looked up towards the ceiling, he grabbed Alisons hand and they rushed upstairs.

The two ran through the hallway until they found Sam and Lori.

"Sammy?" Alison asked when she saw him bleeding.

"I'm okay." He told her.

~~~
"And you saw him, too, the man with the hook?" The officer asked dean.
"Yes, I told you. We all saw him. We fought him off, and then he ran." Dean told him.
"And that's all?"
"Yeah, that's all."
"Listen, you and your brother—"
"Oh, don't worry. We're leaving town." Dean walked away towards the impala where Ali was waiting.
Dean glanced back at Sam who was talking to Lori, then got into the car.
"Tan I sit up fwont now?" Alison asked dean.
Dean glanced back at her and before he could reply, she spoke again.
"I not as wittle as I was!" She told him.
Dean couldn't help but laugh a little bit.
"Fine. Come on." Dean reached back and unbuckled her, he grabbed her sippy cup and held it for her whil she excitedly climbed over the seat.
She giggled making dean smile, he gave her her sippy cup back then looked in his side mirrors, watching his little brother and Lori.
"I fink Sammy wikes her." Alison stated.
Dean glanced at her then back at the mirror.
"I think so, too."
Dean felt a little guilty.
Sam started towards the impala and opened the door, he sat down next to ali.
"We could stay." Dean told him.
Sam barely shook his head.
Alison looked between the two men, why didn't Sam and Lori kiss? Didn't they like each other? Why weren't they staying?
She didn't know.
And she would probably never find out.
Dean stepped on the gas, they started back onto the road; And drove away.
