(Y/n) had always made sure that being friends with the twins meant that she would never miss class and she would definitely try her hardest when it came down to her academics, but as sixth year came she found that to be very difficult. Her prefect duties not foaming any kind of relief for her.

Now, here she was for the second day in a row missing class and hiding in the Gryffindor common room. She felt sick to her stomach thinking about the night before, and with zero sleep to help energize her she fell sluggishly in the common room couch.

"Now look what we have here Freddie," a voice called out.

(Y/n) let out a small groan as she kept her eyes closed. "Go away," she said letting the armrest dig into the back of her head.

"Now that wasn't very nice, say Georgie do we think a prefect who is supposed to be showing a great example is skipping class for the second day in a row?"

"You know, Freddie I think you're absolutely right. Hey, we should try our new invention on her!"

(Y/n)'s eyes shot up as she looked at the twins who were hovering over her with a mischievous smile on their face. She rolled her eyes as she sat up. "Happy?"

"Ecstatic," they said sitting next to her.

"You look like you haven't slept," Fred said looking her over. Her eyes had dark circles around them, and though she was smiling he saw through it. Her skin looked grey, and she seemed to be a million miles away.

"That's because I haven't," she said, looking down at her hands as she played with them. "Rough night."

"Is it the nightmares?" George asked, looking over at her worriedly. "I swear Madam Pomfrey can probably give you something for them. You don't always have to embrace them like you do."

"Thanks Georgie, but uh no. I used the crystal glazer last night. Oh no!" (Y/n) said jumping up from the couch. "Harry! Where is Harry?"

"Uh I don't know, maybe the Great Hall?" Fred suggested looking slightly alarmed. "Oi where are you going?"

"I got to go find Harry!" (Y/n) said racing out of the Gryffindor common room and out towards the Great Hall. She ignored the strange stares she received as she busted through the doors and straight to the raven hair boy. "Harry!" (Y/n) said plopping herself down at the table where he was currently sitting with Neville.

"(Y/n)?" Harry asked. "You're uhh you know you're in your pajamas?"

"What?" She asked looking down to realize that she never had changed into her uniform. "That's not what's important right now. Dragons. That is the first task."

Harry looked alarmed as his pupils grew big and he started to shake his head. "Dragons? Are you sure?"

"I saw it, in the crystal glazer. You're going to need to start preparing. Hey, where's Ron and Hermione?" (y/n) asked looking around the table. She couldn't remember a time when the trio weren't seen together.

Harry just let out a huff as he chewed on his sandwich. "Ron still being a git. Thinks I put my name in the cup. Like I would want all the glory."

"Harry, I'm sorry," (y/n) said putting a hand on his shoulder. "He'll come around. I promise. Are you going to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow? It's the first trip of the year."

"No, I think I'll just stay back in the castle and catch up on some spells. If I'm going to be battling a dragon I need to at least know how to protect myself."

"Right," (y/n) said nodding before getting up from the table. "I'll buy you some sweets from Honeydukes and then come find you to help you out." She said sending him a smile which he returned. She was about to walk out when something caught her eye. "What's that?" She asked pointing to a Hufflepuff who was sporting a new badge.

"Malfoy made them," Harry spat. "He's a real foul git."

"This is not okay!" She said getting up and walking towards the Hufflepuff table where Cedric was currently laughing with his friends. "Cedric."

"(Y/n)! Hey!" He said getting up from the table to offer her a seat, but she just shook her head. "What is this?" She asked picking up the badge that was stuck on one of the Hufflepuff's shirts next to her.

"Oh, I ask them not to wear them, but-"

"But what? You guys, we have two Hogwarts champions, we should be celebrating- not acting like it some curse."

"You're one to talk. A Gryffindor seeking all the gory. You'd like that wouldn't you?" A Hufflepuff boy (y/n) had never seen before said. "We are always left in the shadows, now it's our time to finally shine and once again the chosen one has to ruin it for us!"

"Daniel, calm down," Cedric said looking over to his friend and then back at (Y/n). "Look, we don't mean to cause any harm. I think Harry is that much of a champion as I am. It's just a stupid badge they assist in wearing but it has nothing to do with me. I don't even know who made them."

"Whatever," (y/n) said turning her back and walking out of the Great Hall. She knew she couldn't attend any of her classes so she opt for changing into regular clothes and sneaking into Honeydukes. She figured she could snag some candy now and just help Harry all day tomorrow with the dragon.

In truth, with everything that was going on she didn't feel the need to shop around with her friends. She really just wanted to relax. She walked up to the third floor towards the one-eyed witch statue that she knew would lead to the cellar of Honeydukes.

"Dissendium," she whispered- making sure no other students were nearby as the statue opened up. Within seconds the hump of the statue opened and (y/n) braced herself as she slid down the short slide that presented itself in front of her.

She fell straight to the ground, catching herself before any damage could be done. "Lumos," she whispered as she walked down the long tunnel. It had been so long since she had come down this way, let alone by herself. She was always with the twins, and she realized that this year had definitely put space between them.

Not that she wanted it. She still loved Fred, but as she was learning to love herself she was learning how to love him. She shook all the thoughts away as she reached the end. She opened the small door allowing the riches of sweets to fill her nostrils. Even from being in the cellar she could taste the candy on the tip of her tongue.

She checked her surroundings once again before walking out and then up towards the first floor where the store was. Even though it was midday the store was booming with adults. (y/n) grabbed a few chocolate frogs knowing they were Harry's favorite and some pumpkin pastries.

"(Y/n)?"

(Y/n) froze in spot, with the items in her hand as she slowly turned around. A smile breaking out on her face as she ran up to the person and wrapped her arms around him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, pulling away to get a good look at him.

"I could ask you the same thing. Shouldn't you be in class?" Charlie Weasley asked a small smile forming on his face. "Not very prefect of you."

"Please, don't think I don't know about you running off to the Dark forest to hangout with all the creatures when you were prefect."

Charlie let out a laugh as he shook his head. "Aiden told you didn't he? And don't worry your secret is safe with me," he said sending her a wink. "Anyways I'm here to help out with the first task."

"Of course," (Y/n) said smiling as she went up the counter with her sweets. "It makes sense with the first task being dragons."

"How did you know that?"

"Psychic, remember?" She said sending him a smile. "I saw the dragons."

"Just this for you miss?" The man at the register asked. He was an older gentleman that liked to help out from time to time.

"Yes, sir," (y/n) said reaching into her bag to pull out the correct amount- a hand stopping her in the process.

"I got it, don't worry about it." Charlie said handing his money to the man and putting an arm around her as he guided her out of the store.

"Charlie, you didn't have to do that." (y/n) said feeling slightly guilty that he had paid.

"Nonsense, it's the least I could do. Plus, I heard my git of a brother screwed things up with you so take it as a token of being part of the family still."

(Y/n) let out a laugh as she relaxed to his touch. She had been so worried, that the Weasley's would see her different since she was no longer dating Fred. The fear that maybe they wouldn't like her. She saw Charlie as one of her older brother's and losing his friendship would have killed her. "Thank you, for everything." She said with a smile as she followed him into the Three Broomsticks.

She spent the next few hours reminiscing with Charlie as she talked about everything that had been going on. Not missing a single beat as she poured her heart out. It was liberating being able to talk to someone who was an outsider of what had been going on. Yeah, she had Angelina, Lee, George, and Wren to talk to, but they were still part of her friend group. Charlie was someone who was outside of the situation and could give her honest advice.

After three butterbeers, she had said her goodbyes promising to write soon as she walked back into Honeydukes and down to the cellar to get back into the school. It didn't take long to find Harry who was bundled up in the library with tons of books laid out in front of him. Hermione was at the desk reading different spells he could use.

"I brought gifts," she said setting her bag down on the table and picking up on of the books.

"Sweets from Honeydukes?" Hermione asked. "But how did you get into Hogsmeade?"

(Y/n) just shrugged as she took a bite out of the pumpkin pastry.

"(Y/n), you're a prefect! You shouldn't be sneaking out! You could get in serious trouble." Hermione said giving her a stern look.

"I think it was brilliant," Harry said reaching in and grabbing a chocolate frog. "We could use some serious help. We haven't been able to come up with anything."

(Y/n) nodded as she grabbed one of the books and started reading. They had done this until late at night when Madam Pince had kicked them out because of curfew and up until the morning of the next day when everyone had gone to Hogsmeade.

The three were currently sprawled out looking at more books as (y/n) let out a sigh of frustration. "Okay, Harry, what is something you're good at?"

"Flying, but I can't have my broom."

"That's it!" (Y/n) said jumping up which startled the other two as she held up her wand. "You have your wand! Just accio your broom to you."

"Accio?" Harry asked.

"Why of course, why didn't I think of that," Hermione said with a smile. "Accio is the summoning spell. You can summon your broom to you."

"Brilliant. How does it work?"

(Y/n) spent the whole day teaching Harry how to use the spell and master it to perfection. They didn't even eat as Harry tried with all his might to make various objects fly across the room towards him. But no matter how hard he tried he was still having trouble. The books and quills kept losing heart halfway across the room and dropping like stones in the floor. By the time they had finished it was already late into the night.

"That's better Harry, loads better!" (Y/n) said encouraging as the last of the students started to tickle in towards bed. Only Neville was down in the common room- playing with Trevor, his toad.

"Let's just hope it's enough for tomorrow. I'm going to be summoning a broomstick not a small quill."

"You'll be fine, but you better head to bed," (Y/n) said looking over at him. "You have a big day tomorrow."

Harry nodded as he looked over to Hermione who was currently passed out on one of the sofas. A book in her hand. "Don't worry about her, I'll take her to her dorm," (Y/n) said with a smile as she walked over to the ground. "And Harry don't be nervous. I know you're going to do great."

"Yeah? Did you see it in your crystal glazer?" Harry asked hopeful as the nerves were starting to tickle in the front of his stomach.

"No, but you are the chosen one," (Y/n) said with a small laugh. "And you have never ceased to disappoint me. I know you got this. I believe in you."

"Thanks (y/n), truly. I don't know what I would do without you. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

***

The sun was beaming through the window as it lightly woke (y/n) up from her sleep. Today was the first task and all the nerves that seemed to be hiding before were coming out in full force as she thought about the danger that lurked ahead.

She got dressed with the girls as she walked downstairs to the common room. Fred and George were currently taking bids as Wren and Lee lounged around waiting.

"Ahh, here they are. Finally." Wren said with a playful smile as he got up from the sofa and wrapped his arms around (y/n) and Angelina. "So, what's the verdict?"

"I hate to say this, but my money is on Viktor," Angelina said. "He seems like he can handle himself."

"I know Harry is going to do amazing," (y/n) said hoping the words she was saying had truth behind them.

"Well, he did have an amazing teacher for the last two days," Fred said giving her a small smile as Hermione ran up to them.

"(Y/n), come with me now!" She said grabbing onto her hand and pulling her forward. She sent an apologetic smile to her friends as she followed Hermione out.

"Where are we going?" (Y/n) asked as they slowed down the place- walking outside of the castle out to where the first task was being held.

"I'm nervous. I know they're going to do fine but (Y/n) he could die!"

"Hermione," she said pulling the girl into a hug. "He's going to be fine. You and I helped him so much. He's ready for this. Now come on," she said taking the girl by the hand and pulling her away from the stadium.

"Now where are we going?" Hermione asked as she brought her to the champion tent. They walked in spotting Harry immediately. (Y/n) wrapped him into a tight hug. "Good luck," she said kissing his forehead. "Please stay safe."

"I will," he laughed as he pulled away and sent her a small smile. "I have you two to thank for that."

"Look, I'm going to go wish Cedric luck. I'll leave you two alone." (y/n) said as she walked over to Cedric who was currently twirling his wand in the air as he walked back and forth.

"Well look who it is," Cedric said with a big smile on his face.

"Good luck," (Y/n) said pulling him into a hug. "Please be safe out there."

Cedric nodded in her embrace, wrapping his arms around her waist as he brought her in closer. A single flash breaking them apart. (Y/n) looked up to see Rita Skeeter, a writer for the daily prophet standing in front of them.

"Young love, how stirring," she said as she walked closer to the two. (Y/n) furrowed her eyebrows together as she looked over to Cedric and then back to Rita who was currently writing random stuff down. "If it goes unfortunate today, you four could make the front cover," she said eyeing Harry and Hermione.

"You have no business here," Viktor said walking up to her. "This tent is for champions, and friends."

"No matter, we got what we wanted," she snarled, a dirty look forming her face as she walked out.

"That woman is a nightmare," (y/n) said turning back towards Hermione as Dumbledore walked through the tent.

"Good day champions gather 'round, please. Now, you waited, you've wondered and at last the moment has arrived. A moment only four of you can fully appreciate," Dumbledore said looking around and then stopping. "What are you doing here Ms. Granger? Carter?"

"Oh, sorry. We were just leaving." Hermione said grabbing (Y/n)'s hand and walking out towards the stands.

"It's going to be fine, don't stress." But stressing was exactly what (y/n) was doing by the time they had made it up to the stands where their friends were and saw the dragons.

She was currently sandwich in between Fred and Wren as music blasted through the stadium as everyone waited for the champions to emerge. Within seconds Cedric emerged from the tent. (y/n) held her breath as she watched him walk out smiling. If he was scared he was doing a really good job at hiding it.

Within moments the scene had morphed, and Cedric was transfiguring a rock into a dog to distract the dragon. As the dragon took the bait he dodged for the golden egg each champion was meant to collect. As his fingers wrapped around the golden sphere the dragon turned breathing fire out- causing half of his face to light up. (Y/n) gripped the closest hand to her as she watched the scene play out.

Then it was Fleur turn. She was able to easily grab the cup- only suffering her skirt being lit on fire. Cheers erupted through the whole stand and as Viktor emerged next (y/n)'s anxiety started to go through the roof as Harry's turn approached.

Viktor, unlike the other two decided to use the conjunctivitis curse which blinded the dragon as he went and collected the egg.

It was now Harry's turn, and it wasn't until Fred had said a small ow did (y/n) realize she had been holding onto his hand the whole entire time. "I'm sorry, Freddie. I didn't realize" she said trying to pull away, but he stopped her.

"It's okay. I know you're worried."

She sent him a grateful smile as she continued to hold his hand, watching as Harry awkwardly stumbled in front for everyone to see.

"Oh no, he's facing the Hungarian Horntail," (y/n) whispered as she stared intensely at the dragon.

"How do you know that?" Fred asked, looking at her sideways.

"I spent too much time talking to Charlie," (y/n) said letting out a laugh, and Fred knew his heart could have stopped with joy when he heard it. It had been a while since he had felt the nostalgia return, back to where they use to be before he messed everything up.

Harry held his wand in the air as he yelled, "accio firebolt."

The crowd held their breath as they watched in fear as nothing happened. (Y/n) closed her eyes praying before opening them up when something shot past her. The whole crowd erupting in cheers as Harry jumped on his broom and flew down to where the egg was.

But the dragon was quick, sending flames his way as he shot upward in the air. Within a matter of minutes the dragon had managed to break free from its chain and follow him up in the sky.

"Oh no," (y/n) said looking around until she met Hermione's eye- who was standing a few people away.

"It's going to be okay," Wren said trying to reassure her as everyone sat in silence waiting.

"Look!" Neville pointed out as Harry flew back into the stadium and swooping low to grab the egg. The whole crowd busted in cheers and (y/n) flew herself into Fred's arms with so much happiness. He twirled her around before gently putting her down.

"He did it!" She said smiling up as she still held onto his hand.
