Within seconds of Harry's departure chaos broke out into the Great Hall. (y/n) was still trying to wrap her head around the idea that Harry's name was called out. A soft hand on her shoulder bringing her back to reality as she looked over to Wren.

"Not fair!"

"A cheat!"

"He's not even seventeen!"

"I can't believe he actually did it, and didn't even tell me," Ron spat out. (Y/n) turned her head scowling at the boy.

"Ron, don't be ridiculous there's no way he put his name in. Did you see how shocked he was when his name got called?"

"Exactly." Hermione said, "this doesn't add up."

"Whatever," Ron said turning away. "He probably was just shocked that he actually managed to get picked. I'm leaving."

"Ron!" Hermione said getting up from her seat and running off after him.

"Well, looks like we're going to need to celebrate. I say we throw our champion our very own Gryffindor party," George said- getting up with the rest of the students as they headed back to the common rooms.

"Wren, want to come with me to get the food?" Lee asked, sending him a wink as he placed an arm around his shoulder.

"Maybe, you should go with them (y/n) and make sure they actually get the food," George suggested- laughing as he watched the couple.

"I'm actually not going to go to the party. I'm probably just going to go to bed."

"What?" Fred asked, turning his attention to her. "You're not going to come? Why?"

"No offense," she said with a tight lip smile. "But I haven't had the best experiences with parties."

"Come on (y/n)," Angelina said, reaching out and connecting her arms with hers "I'm not in a party mood either. Let's have a girl's night in the dorm."

By the time they had walked out of the Great Hall and up the stairs to the Gryffindor common room, did (y/n) have the courage to stop in her tracks and turn to her. "Ang, I love you- but go have fun at the party. I know you want to be kissing a certain ginger."

"Please, George and I aren't even together anymore. I need a break from the twins just as much as you do. Plus, we haven't had a girl's night in so long! It'll be fun."

And boy was it fun. The girls had got into their hidden stash of chocolates, thanks to Remus who had been constantly sending chocolate gift baskets since the first week of school and danced to music from the eighties. There was just something about the song, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" that made (y/n) forget all about her troubles. She was no longer stressed about her nightmares or about Fred. She was just a seventeen-year-old girl hanging out with her best friend and having the time of her life.

***

(Y/n) clung to her jumper as she stood in front of the same maze that had been haunting her dreams for a while. Each night it changed completely. At first the shadow man would appear and giver her ominous warnings, but now she found herself alone each time.

She tried to embrace each dream as she felt herself drawn to enter the maze. There was something here that she needed to figure out, she just didn't know what exactly it was.

She let her feet sink into the soil of the dirt as she made her first attempt in entering it. Usually, she didn't have the courage to walk straight inside- usually caressing the corners and walking around the emptiness, but today the dream felt different- welcoming.

She immediately ducked down as an explosion lite up the sky above her. She tried to hold back a scream as she saw the Dark Mark illuminating the night sky. She rushed to her feet- heading straight into the maze.

Every corner she turned it felt as if she was being suffocated. Hands gripping the side of her neck digging deeper and deeper into her flesh.

She shook the feeling away as the invisible hand followed her every move- until she reached a crossroad. Four objects stood in front of her. To her left she saw a glowing wand. It was very similar to someone else's wand she had seen before, but she couldn't pinpoint whose. To her right she saw a cup. If she didn't stare hard enough she would have assumed it was the Triwizard cup, but it wasn't. It was a golden goblet. In front of her stood a blue tiara. It glistened under the moonlight almost like it had been lost and never wanted to be found.

She took a deep breath as she plunged to the right- gripping the cup tightly in her hand so she could continue to run. Within seconds her body morphed inward and out.

She landed hard on a soil patch as she was thrown to the ground. "I don't think we're at Hogwarts anymore" she said as she stood inside a cemetery.

She walked forward taking in the names of the stones. Stopping at one that seemed to immediately catch her eye.

"Avada Kedavra."

A scream erupted from (y/n)'s mouth as she sat upright in bed. She looked around her room to see her roommates sound asleep. She had put silencing charms around her bed to not wake anyone up as the nightmares turned into a daily occurrence.

Sweat was dripping down her temple, and she was having a hard time trying to keep her heartbeat steady. She placed a hand to her chest, allowing the cold night to calm her.

Feeling as if sleep was not going to come any faster she threw on her Gryffindor robe and headed down to the common room.

She was surprised to find that it wasn't thrashed from the party. Usually, it took a few days before the elves came around to clean their mess. This could only mean that the students did it themselves. She stopped in her tracks as she saw someone sitting near the fireplace.

"I didn't think anyone would be up," she said as she walked down the stairs next to the sofa where a certain redhead was staring off into the fire.

"I've been trying to come up with ideas for the joke shop," George said as he held out a piece of paper for her to grab.

She took it, reading each line from George's sloppy handwriting. The paper was scattered in idea's the were crossed out or written twice. "You know what would be cool? If you did your first idea. It's simple, and yet would be very rewarding to anyone who takes the potion."

"Thanks Carter," he said sending her a small smile. "Why are you up anyway?"

"Couldn't sleep." She sat next to him laying down on the ground and stretching her body. "I get the nightmares every night, and I feel like they just keep getting worse and worse."

"And you have no idea what it means?" George asked sending her a worried look. She just shook her head before closing her eyes. He noticed for months now her eyelids becoming heavy and dark from the lack of sleep. She had lost her appetite and locked herself away most nights in her room. He placed a hand on her thigh making her look up at him.

"Look, I know things have been different since you and Fred broke up. But I want you to know that you're still my best friend, and even though we don't spend as much time as we use to you're always on my mind. I'm worried about you."

"Thanks Georgie. You're my best friend too."

She got up from her spot bringing him into a tight hug. "I'm going to try and go get some sleep. Don't stay up too late." With that she walked back up the stairs to her door and straight into bed- having an empty dream for once.

***

"Come on, you don't want to be late."

(Y/n) opened her eyes to see Alicia standing over her bed. "Class starts in ten minutes."

(y/n) looked over to her clock as it read the time, bolting from her bed and straight into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth, washed her faced, and brushed her hair before throwing on her robes and racing downstairs.

"Someone woke up late," George said with a laugh as he looked up from his notebook.

"I see you haven't moved since last night," (y/n) said gesturing to the same spot he was in when they had spoken hours ago. "Did you even sleep?"

"Of course, a whole four hours if you must know."

"Lovely, well as you know I'm running late so I got to go," she said sprinting out of the common room and down the stairs. Her first class was potions, and she knew she only had three minutes to race to the dungeons or Snape wouldn't let her in.

Though he had a soft spot for her, he still took tardiness very seriously and if you didn't have a note from another professor he wouldn't let you in, no matter who you were. (Y/n) had heard a story where he didn't even let Draco Malfoy into his class.

She looked at the clock that hung by the Great Hall. She had only a minute left. She sprinted around kids trying her best to let all those summers of running with Aiden pay off. She turned down a corridor, not looking as she ran straight into someone.

She fell backwards hitting the ground hard. "Are you okay?"

She looked up to see Fred's hand stretched outward for her take. "Fuck." She said as the final bell rang through the air.

"Well, that was not the reaction I was hoping for."

"Sorry Freddie, uhh I erm was running late to class, and now there's not way Snape is going to let me in."

"Sorry, um would you want to walk with me?" Fred asked giving her a small smile.

"Err sure," she said trying not to make eye contact with him as they walked side by side. She tried her hardest not to let the tension of their relationship affect the awkward air- but she was having a hard time doing just that.

They walked side by side towards the courtyard. An uncomfortable silence surrounding them as they stood out by the Black Lake.

"This is awkward."

"I'm sorry."

They said at the same time, making the two burst out into laughing.

"Fred, there's nothing for you to be sorry about. I think it was troubling on both our parts. I want you to know that you're still my best friend."

"Really?" He asked.

"Of course, plus I think we've spent enough time away from each other. I want my trio back."

"Ahh, the good times of just you, me, and George pranking our way through life."

"Oh, how life use to be so simple back when we were just first years."

Fred looked her over, a small smile forming on his lips. "But I wouldn't change anything. If I knew that it would lead me right where I am today. Yeah, we broke up, but I got to love my best friend and regardless if you felt the same I had never been as happy as I am when I was with you." He reached out running his finger along the side of her cheek and tracing it until he reached just under her chin.

(Y/n) looked over to him, meeting his eye as she smiled. "Loving you, was the best thing."

They stayed staring at each other for a few moments before Fred cleared his throat and looked away. Dropping his hand from her face and letting it hang behind his back. "Maybe we could get together tonight, all of us and do a prank for all times sake?"

(Y/n) sent him a small smile nodding. "I'd like that. I have to do rounds with Wren tonight, but afterwards we should all get together. Invite Lee as well. Heaven forbids if he finds out we did a prank without him, we'll never hear the end of it."

"Right, well I'll catch you late." Fred said giving her a small wave and walking away.

"Bye."

***

"Where have you been?" Wren asked, sliding into one of the empty chairs in the library. "You didn't show up to any of your classes! Not very prefect of you."

(Y/n) threw a paper ball at him before letting out a laugh. "I woke up late from Snape's class, and then from there I didn't really feel up to attend anything else. You can only tone out Binn's history class for so long."

"Well, you'll be lucky to know I saved all my notes for you, here," he said handing her his notes and reaching out his hand for her to take. "The full moon is out. We better get a move on it."

(Y/n) took his hand as they walked outside of the castle and out by the Black Lake. Memories of what happened earlier that day flashed in (y/n)'s mind but she shook the thoughts away.

"Remember I'm going to be with you ever step of the way, so you're not going to be alone."

"That's so reassuring," she said rolling her eyes as she brought the crystal gazer out. She held it out into the moonlight, letting it reflect all around them. The ball's weight felt heavy in her hand as she let Wren place his hands under hers. She took in a deep breath letting it consume her. She had only done this one other time with Fred and forgot how all her senses seem to hinge at the same time.

Within seconds flashes of images danced on her eyelids. She saw Harry battling a dragon, mermaids in the Black Lake, a giant maze- the exact one that had been haunting her dreams, and a body laying face down- dead in a cemetery.

The images disappeared all at once, and (y/n) let out a scream as she dropped the ball on the ground.

"Bloody hell," Wren said, looking her over. "That- is all that really going to happen?"

"Yes," she said, nodding weakly. "And one of us is going to die."

A/N: Happy Wednesday everyone! Truthfully not really happy with how this chapter turned out. I feel like I've been in a writing slump lately. I'm counting on Sunday's chapter being a little bit better as we get into the first task. Anyways, thank you for all the support. Xoxo uglydiaries
