He came for me.
I woke up still in the same spot, still just him and I. I fluttered my eyes open and turned my head towards him.
"How did you-" I coughed and took another breath,
"How did you find me?" I finally asked.
I could just feel it. Now don't talk.
I could tell he was scared.
"Loki I'm okay, you don't have to-"
I thought you died. I thought I was too late. If I couldn't heal you in time it would have been my fault.
I was shocked. He cared? As if he could tell what I had asked myself he responded.
"Of course I care y/n." His low and husky voice seemed to crack a little.
"Does this mean we're friends now?" I laughed and then seized in pain.
"If that will make you stop talking, then yes. We are friends, the bestest of friends." He was annoyed at my request but didn't turn it down.
Progress.
I laid my head back down, and the team arrived. All shocked and concerned.
"Oh my god- kid are you okay? What hurts? Banner get in here!" Tony yelled with urgency.
"Shh, she needs to sleep, her wounds won't heal properly if she doesn't rest." Loki said in a hushed voice.
"Shut up Reindeer Games I think I know what best for-" he stopped himself as Loki had just fallen asleep, completely exhausted.
"He used too much magic to heal me, it's physically draining, he's right I need to sleep, Tony." I said giving his hand a squeeze and smiling weakly, letting him know I was okay.
Before I knew it I was fast asleep and all my worries and pain had subsided.
Loki's POV.
I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough. I was so tired. But eventually we made it back to the tower, Thor had nudged me to wake up.
"You should go stay with her. She needs a friend right now." Thor said trying to not upset me. I nodded and followed Banner and Tony to the medical ward.
Banner didn't appreciate that but Tony seemed to be thankful that she'd wake up and someone would be there. Banner laid her on the bed, she looked rough. It was hard to see her like this, being hooked up to so many machines. I was quickly brought out of my thoughts by Tony speaking to me.
"Reindeer Ga- Loki, can we talk for a moment." Tony looked like it was really important, I looked back at Y/N and made my way out of the room with Tony.
"Thank you. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there to-" he stopped, looking at his feet.
"If she hadn't made it." He finished.
"Is the Tony Stark, thanking me? Now that's unheard of. I must tell the others about this!" I smiled putting my hands in my pockets.
I shifted slightly, now uncomfortable with the seriousness of the room.
"Tony, it wasn't a big deal. She's my friend. I wouldn't want my only friend to die without even knowing we were friends to begin with." I pushed aside my humor. It was true. I couldn't watch my friend die.
"But remember that next time you decide to make me stay on that plane. You're lucky I only took one of the doors off trying to get out." I cut in again. He nodded and walked away, then turning around again.
"Let me know when she wakes up okay?"
I nodded reassuring him I would do as he asked. I made my way back to her room where Banner decided to leave and give her privacy. I can't remember how long I stayed up. Just waiting.
You can stop worrying, I'm okay Lokes.
Lokes. That had a ring to it.
"You're up, good. How are your feeling?"
I'm okay, but my throat hurts, hence me not talking.
Even her voice within her thoughts sounded tired. I should have gotten there faster.
Your POV.
You could practically hear his noisy thoughts. Slowly giving you a headache. He blamed himself for your injuries.
Lokes I promise I'm okay. Don't do that.
"Do what?" He furrowed his brows. He knew what, turning his icy blue eyes from me, to the floor.
"I wasn't supposed to be there. And if I wasn't, you would be dead." He looked so guilty.
But you did. And now look, I am alive Loki, you saved me. Im okay!
"I didn't save you. I don't save people." He shifted once again in his chair. His stubbornness made me smirk.
"You're right-" I slowly lifted myself up so I could sit.
"You don't save people." I teased. His gaze turned to me once more.
"You saved your friend." I said, still hard to speak with my sore throat.
He sat trying to get comfortable in the chair again, not meeting my gaze anymore.
Come here.
What?
He seemed bewildered by my request, so I rethought my words carefully.
"Come and sit with me." I moved over on my bed waving for him to come and sit with me. Reluctant, he got up and sat next to me.
We both stared out of the large window, by the chairs he had just left. I laid my head on his shoulder, which was still piercing with a headache. But he didn't seem to mind.
"Thank you Lokes." I finally spoke.
Before I knew it I was asleep. And it had been the next day. I woke up and it had already been dark outside again. I turned to my left and saw that Loki had left.
"Guys she's awake!" Banner shouted.
"Ow." I still had a headache.
Everyone rushed in, cramming into the room. Bucky, Wanda, Steve and Tony all rushed to my side, Bucky practically breaking every bone in my body, hugging me.
"Ouch, ouch- OUCH!- okay Bucky! Ow that hurts-" I was still in so much pain.
"Sorry..." Bucky let go gently and apologized. Wanda gave me a warm smile, squeezing my hand and I returned the squeeze.
Tony was worried but he was now relieved. He gave me a pat on the head, which again, didn't help the headache, and asked the others to leave the room for a moment.
"Hey kid. How's it going?" He said in a hushed voice. I nodded as an answer still trying to keep talking to a minimum.
"I've had a long discussion with Wanda and the team. We all think it would be best if- and only if you're okay with it- we would like you to practice your magic with Loki. He seems to be the only one to understand your magic, being Asgardian and all." Tony was searching for an answer in my eyes.
"Have you talked to Loki? About this?" I asked making sure not to intrude on Loki's privacy.
"No I was hoping maybe you'd ask? Him and I may be getting better on the trust issues, but I don't think I should be barking orders where it doesn't belong." He scoffed and started to fix his hair, he did this when he became uncomfortable or nervous.
"Yeah..I'll ask. Thank you Tony." He nodded and rushed out of the room.
The last time I brought up him helping me. He was against it. I wonder if he will be now? Speaking of which, where is he?
I waved over Bucky and Steve from the other room, and they ran in thinking I was hurt.
"I'm fine, just a quick question, um- where's Loki? He was here last night but then I don't remember him leaving-"
No need to ask, I'm coming. I needed to rest.
I smiled and didn't finish my sentence as I saw him walking toward my room. Bucky and Steve took that as their cue to leave.
"Hey there..." He said as he walked in and closed the door. Although he looked worried still.
"Lokes, I told you, I'm fine!" I reassured him by slightly punching his arm. Which hurt, quite a lot.
"I don't take that as fine, but as you wish."
He couldn't help but laugh at my attempt of reassuring him.
A genuine laugh. I asked him to sit down, again same as last night and he did, being careful to not make sudden moves. Once again resting my head on his shoulder I began to speak.
"Tony thinks you should teach me my magic again...and I know how you reacted last time so I totally get it if you don't want to, I understand I can be a little irritating-" He cut me off by a laugh and looked down at the floor, as he always seemed to do.
"You thought I was being serious? y/n, if that's something you want, I would do that. I don't want my friend to get herself in a difficult situation again." He trailed off again, staring at the floor again. I rested my head on his shoulder once again and began to speak to him.
Stop blaming yourself Loki. I told you, I will be fine. I'm, me- remember? Your bestest friend?
I couldn't help but laugh to myself at his slight smile he gave me.
"I know you will be. Now go and get some rest. If we are going to train, you need to be fully rested and healed." He stood up, my head no longer on his shoulder. He gave me a warm smile and walked out passed everyone who seemed to be in shock.
For some, odd reason.
