I woke up very early the next morning so I could see Cedric. I needed to see how he was doing.
I walked out of my dorm and into the common room.
As I was about to walk out the door Draco seemed to be on his way back from somewhere.
As he looked down at me, and very close to my face, he grinned.
Without a word he sat down on the couch and opened a book.
I sighed and walked out.
As I approached the hospital wing there were many girls outside. They seemed to be holding gifts, one held a bear with a Hufflepuff sweater.
Apparently I wasn't the only one who was planning on seeing him.
The nurse came outside into the hallway and announced that there will be 'no visitors at this time.'
I walked up to her and reminded her that she told me to come back yesterday.
"How come she gets to see him?" One of the Gryffindor girls shouted.
All the girls that filled the hallway were looking at me as if a target was placed right on my head.
"He's my- friend..." I sheepishly said.
"Friend, with him? Please." One girl said.
"I've been going out with him for a month." Said another.
I felt my heart sink into my stomach.
The girls started arguing with each other but it was all background noise to the sound of my pounding heart.
I turned back around and proceeded to the common room.
Draco had left, I was alone..
Or so I thought.
I slammed my bag on the floor.
A month? But I've been seeing him way longer than that.
I sat on the floor in front of the fireplace.
"I'm so stupid..." I whispered as I closed my eyes and took a breath in.
"What did you mess up this time?" A voice behind me said.
I turned to Draco sitting in a chair near the corner as if he had been watching me almost the whole time.
"I didn't do anything, I'm just mad."
"Clearly." Draco scoffed.
"Of course," I said as I quickly stood up.
"Why would he care? I'm not his friend, he just wants to make me feel like a fool."
Draco put down his book and looked up at me.
"Just stop it already," he rolled his eyes and started reading again.
I put my hand on top of his book and slammed it down.
I leaned over him on the table, "maybe I'll stop when you listen to me for once."
He moved closer to my face, "I'm listening to you now, aren't I?" He whispered.
I rolled my eyes, "I'm not in the mood for this."
I walked over to the couch and sat down, Draco followed.
We both sat there with our arms crossed in silence until he finally spoke.
"I'm inviting you to have dinner with me and my mum tonight." He mumbled.
"You want me to come, or your mom does?"
"She made me ask you so don't feel special or anything." He sighed.
"yeah, wouldn't want that to happen," I nudged his elbow and grinned. "But do you want me to come?"
"I don't care, do whatever you want. But just so you know if you don't go my mum probably won't like you as much. So for the benefit of my relationship with her you should probably go."
He's really trying to guilt me right now.
I moved closer to him and traced my fingers on the top of his hand.
"I'll go, if you tell me you want me to."
He watched my hand as he cleared his throat.
"I told you, I don't care."
I grabbed him by his tie and pulled him in front of me.
"Are you sure about that?" I whispered.
"I mean, I wouldn't mind if you came I suppose."
"Good, because I'm going. What time?" I asked.
"6:30, my father won't be home luckily."
I nodded.
We sat there for a while and read our books in silence sitting at opposite ends of the couch.
The only noise we heard was the turning of our pages and the crackling of the fireplace.
I felt his hand move to my ankle and grasp it.
I flinched and looked up.
He pulled me by my ankle and dragged me closer to him.
"Oh I forgot to mention, my mother has to attend a meeting for my fathers work right after so we'll be alone."
"Great, we can play board games all night." I hit him in the arm playfully.
He rolled his eyes, "you know what I mean."
I shrugged and continued to act like I had no idea what he was talking about.
It made him annoyed, which made me laugh.
Time skip to 6:00
I was doing my makeup and my hair when I realized how nervous I was.
I mean, I'm always anxious but I had no reason to be this way around Draco.
When I was done I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath.
I sat on my bed for a while and spaced out until I heard a knock at the door.
I opened it and saw Draco looking back at me.
He looked me up and down and then smiled.
"You ready to go?" He asked.
"Yeah."
He knows I'm nervous.
When we got there Narcissa greeted us and hugged us both.
During dinner she talked about how when Draco was little he used to insist on wearing all black suits to every event.
She asked me how everything was going.
I gave the answer that was always expected, "I've been good."
My nerves had calmed down so I started to relax a bit.
Finally when dinner was over it was 8:30.
"I have to attend a meeting with your father. We will be back late so don't stay up waiting. And, make sure Y/n gets back alright. If she has to spend the night there is the guest bedroom across from your room."
"Yes mum."
She gave him a kiss on the cheek as she walked out the door.
"You want a drink?" Draco asked.
"Sure." I said.
He carried out a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
I took out some of the board games Draco had on his shelf in the living room.
We sat on the floor across from each other and started playing.
When we started playing wizards chess it reminded me of something.
"I used to play this." Draco said.
"Yeah, me too. I always used to play against Ron. He's very good at it actually."
"Bet he's not that great, I'm sure I could beat him." Draco annoyingly mumbled.
I took a sip of my drink and we continued playing.
We were both very competitive people in general.
The game went on until 12:30.
When I finally beat him we were both on the verge of being drunk.
"Ha! I won." I said as I stood up.
"I let you win."
"Nooo I beat you because you suck."
His jaw dropped as I walked around laughing and cheering.
"I'll get you back for that." Draco said as he walked towards me.
"Ooo what you gonna do ferret boy?"
I felt his cold metal rings around my neck.
As my back hit the wall and I just stared up at him.
He leaned down and whispered, "You may have won this game y/n, but your victory is over."
He put out his hand for me to take it.
I grabbed his hand and we headed upstairs.
As we walked passed a few of the rooms one of the doors were open.
"Wait, what's in there?" I asked.
He snickered and opened both doors to reveal a huge bathroom with a hot-tub inside.
"Woah, dude what the heck. If you told me you had a hot-tub I'd come over more often."
"We can go in if you want."
"I don't have a bathing suit."
"You can just wear one of my shirts." He said.
"Okay." I replied.
He went to his room, grabbed a plain black shirt and handed it to me.
I put the shirt on over my dress and took on the dress from underneath.
"What are you doing?" Draco asked.
"It's this trick I learned. How else do you think I got changed when I had to stay in the boys locker room?"
"Smart I guess." He said.
He changed into his swimsuit bottoms and we went in.
Draco took the remote for the led lights and changed it to a red/pink color.
I started to feel a little awkward, he could tell.
"What now?" He asked.
"Nothing, I'm fine." I said.
"You seemed nervous earlier, why?"
I shrugged.
Draco moved next to me, "I would never do anything to hurt you, you know that..right?"
I nodded.
He put his arm around me and pulled me in close.
"I don't want you to get hurt again by Cedric. And you know I think you can do better than that." Draco pointed to himself and grinned.
"This is all just too much sometimes. I've never, not in a million years would I have thought I'd be in a situation where I would have to pick between two incredibly amazing guys."
"How long have you liked him exactly?" He asked.
"Well, when I first got here I remember seeing him walk to class with his friends. I used to think to myself how much I wanted to even be near him or for him to even know my name."
Draco looked down at his hands and had a slight frown on his face."Seems like you really like him huh?"
I put my hand on his chin and lifted his head, "hey, remember I like you too."
"But you'll never like me the way you like him."
"You are both extremely different. There is no way I will ever like you both in the same way."
"Stop." Draco said.
"What?" I asked.
"Stop trying to make me feel better. You obviously feel guilty because I seem upset, which I'm not."
"You're acting like I straight up rejected you."
"Well, if you really liked me you wouldn't even be thinking about him."
"Fine then think about it from his point of view. If I really liked him why would I be thinking about you all the time huh?!"
He leaned in and kissed me.
I straddled his lap as he moved his way down to my neck.
After making out for a while we decided to finally go to bed.
I changed into one of his hoodies and a pair of his shorts.
As I walked to the guest room Draco stopped me.
"You couldn't possibly sleep in there, all lonely."
At this point I was too tired to argue so I followed him to his room.
We were in the same bed but not touching, both looking up at the ceiling.
"Sorry." Draco said.
"For what?" I asked.
"I'm not great at talking about all these feelings and stuff. I'm better at showing it."
"Clearly," I pointed to the spot on my neck.
"I'm not good at any of this. Talking about it, showing affection to someone, it's hard for me." I said.
"Over time you build this barrier that you protect yourself with so you don't get hurt. Once you let someone in they could destroy you." I added.
"That's why I'm so mean sometimes. But the only person I've learned I can trust, is you." He said.
"That means a lot Draco."
He stared at me for a second and smiled.
"I'm in love with you Y/n. Everyday more and more."
He took my hand and held it.
We both fell asleep soon after.
