Backstory: Merissa grew up in Gotham. Her family were criminals trying to make a living, which made her grow up to be a strong fighter. One of her strongest traits became her kicks, and her hands were very useful for her in fights. Though she rarely used weapons other than knives. Her father forced her to carry around and learn to weild some kind of weapon for her own safety, as they were met with strong racism in their area, so she chose a knife to defend herself with.
She was born with her power, and her parents made the most of it. It was very useful to be able to change her appearence, and when she got older she used it to her advantage to run heists. At the age of 13, Batman caught her. Not wanting to put her family in trouble, she tried to cut her own throat when she knew that she couldn't win, but Robin had grabbed onto her hand and stopped her.
Seeing that she wasn't really a bad kid, just a child with a rough life, Batman did spare her from landing in jail, though he talked commisioner Gordon into taking custedy over her while he tried to figure out other arrangements for her. Both James and Barbara did help her through a lot of the issues she had, and managed to talk her into applying for school. Then, a year later, the Young Justice formed, and Batman brought Marissa to be a member. To not burden the Gordons futher, she got to live in the cave with Kaldur, M'Gann and later Konnor, and transferred schools to Happy Harbour High School.
Weakness: Fear of getting old (hence why when she was 16 she used her powers to preserve that face and body), anorexia (skips meals when she can), deathly allergic to pineapple
Other: She and M'Gann has some problems getting along because the Marsian looked into her head when they met and pretty much announced her eating disorder, which led Marissa to not like M'Gann nor really try to become friends with her, though none of them let it affect missions
