the circle of misery

edit: the term misery here refers to the definition of Blaise Pascal. I insert a quote from him that I particularly appreciate (translated from French) "As men are not able to fight against death, misery, ignorance, they have taken it into their heads, in order to be happy, not to think of them at all.

The circle of boredom is forever on,
Why don't we stop and look around?
Bored. Lonely. Empty.
Won't somebody help me?

I have lost my mind, it has slipped away,
When it left, I couldn't say.
But when I turned and looked around
It was nowhere to be found.

My mind was a rather pleasant sort
But now it's gone to some other port
I wish it would come back to play
Never leave, but remain and stay
And keep the misery at bay.

Beyond my bedroom window
The evening rays flowed through
I look onto the garden, the wind blew,
As bright green, turned into blue.

As the glowing orange ball moved behind the distant trees,
I stared into their depths accompanied by a small breeze,
To the black between the leaves.

I watched these trees for hours perched on side of bed,
I sometimes looked below,
But mostly straight ahead.
They filled me with a boundless sorrow;
As if the end would come tomorrow.

Misery is the illusion of what could have been
The greatness that we could only imagine

It breaks one down, piece by piece
Like a glass that would have been shattered
For a long time, holding us back from inner peace,
Distracting myself, in order to not be bored,
Just to forget this misery.

Boredom follows me like my
Shadow on a sunny day,
Silhouetting my thoughts monotonously gray.
Condemned to be misunderstood, is it really that way?

Fighting for focus, tempted by sight and sound.
Struggling to sit still, no less boredom bound.
Attention waivers as the mind will wander.
Thoughts scramble while you wonder and ponder.

But when the sun goes to sleep,
When I'm alone facing my thoughts,
I cannot escape anymore, I cannot distract myself,
from the circle of misery.
