Sam
I hear a cell phone ring in my sleep “Dean” I say but Dean doesn't move. I frown and sit up to see Dean sound asleep with Shelby also sound asleep in bed right next to him. I grab Dean's phone from the end table and check the number, then flip it open. “Hello” I say into the phone “Sam, is that you” I hear my dad say and sit up in bed. “Dad, are you hurt” I quick ask? “I’m fine” John says “we’ve been looking for you everywhere. We didn’t know where you were, if you were okay” Sam says.
“Sammy, I’m all right. What about you and Dean” dad asks? Dean starts to wake up “we’re fine, we found Shelby” I say “I know, I got Dean's message” he says. “Dad, where are you” I ask and Dean sits up, hearing now that it's dad “Shelby, Shelby get up” Dean says and shakes her, making her quick sit up, pulling out a gun and aiming, making Dean jump but make her lower her gun. “Dean, what is it” Shelby asks, rubbing her eyes “it's dad” Dean says and Shelby clues in.
“Sorry, kiddo, I can’t tell you that” dad says threw the phone “what, why not” I ask? “Is that Dad” Dean asks “look, I know this is hard for you to understand. You’re just gonna have to trust me on this” John says. “You’re after it, aren’t you? The thing that killed Mom” I asked quick “yeah, it’s a demon, Sam” John says “a demon? You know for sure” Sam asks “A demon” Dean says “what’s he saying” Shelby asked?
“I do, listen, Sammy, I, uh, I also know what happened to your girlfriend. I’m so sorry. I would’ve done anything to protect you from that” John says to me. “You know where it is” I ask? “Yeah, I think I’m finally closing in on it” John says “let us help” I say threw the phone. “You can’t, you can’t be any part of it” he says “why not” I quick ask confused. “Give me the phone” Dean says and reaches for the phone “listen, Sammy, that’s why I’m calling. You, your brother, and Shelby, you gotta stop looking for me. Alright, now, I need you to write down these names” he says.
“Names, what names, Dad, ttalk to me, tell me what’s going on” I say quickly threw the phone even more confused, “Look, we don’t have time for this. This is bigger than you think, they’re everywhere. Even us talking right now, it’s not safe” John says “no, Alright, no way” I say mad. “Give me the phone” Dean says again. “I have given you an order. Now, you stop following me, and you do your job. You understand me? Now, take down these names” John says mad, making me mad. Dean grabs the phone from me.
“Dad, it’s me, where are you” Dean listens “yes, sir” he says and look around “uh, yeah, I got a pen. What are their names” Dean asks “I want to talk to him” Shelby says as Dean writes down some names. Shelby takes the phone from Dean as he finishes writing down the names. “Dad” Shelby says with a soft smile that soon fades. She look down at the phone “he hung up” she said and closed the phone, looking upset as she looked down.

We pack our things before getting in the car and driving off. “Alright, so, the names Dad gave us, they’re all couples” Sam asks while driving and I'm sitting in the backseat, leaning my cheek against my hand that leaning on the window. “Three different couples, all went missing” Dean says. “And they’re all from different towns, different states” Sam ask? “That’s right, you got Washington, New York, Colorado. Each couple took a road trip cross-country. None of them arrived at their destination, and none of them were ever heard from again” Dean says.
“Well, it’s a big country, Dean. They could’ve disappeared anywhere” Sam says “yeah, could’ve. But each one’s route took ‘em to the same part of Indiana. Always on the second week of April. One year after another after another” Dean says “this is the second week of April” Sam says “yep” Dean says. “So, Dad is sending us to Indiana to go hunting for something before another couple vanishes” Sam asked?
“Yahtzee, can you imagine putting together a pattern like this? All the different obits Dad had to go through? The man’s a master” Dean said and Sam looks annoyed, pulls over to the side of the road and turns off the car. “What are you doing” Dean asks, making me look at Sam and sit up. “We’re not going to Indiana” Sam says “we’re not” Dean asks confused. “No, we’re going to California. Dad called from a payphone. Sacramento area code” Sam says.
“Sam” Dean starts “Dean, if this demon killed Mom and Jess, and Dad’s closing in, we’ve gotta be there. We’ve gotta help” Sam says “Sam, dad doesn’t want our help” I say to him “I don’t care” Sam says. “He’s given us an order” Dean said “I don’t care” Sam says firmly, surprising Dean. “We don’t always have to do what he says” “Sam, Dad is asking us to work jobs, to save lives, it’s important” Dean says. “Alright, I understand, believe me, I understand. But I’m talking one week here, man, to get answers. To get revenge” Sam said.
“Alright, look, I know how you feel” Dean says “do you” Sam ask mad, making Dean look at Sam shocked. “How old were you when Mom died, four? Shelby wasn't even a day old. Jess died six months ago. How the hell would you know how I feel” Sam asks mad, making me feel like I'm not even in the car. “Dad said it wasn’t safe, for any of us. I mean, he obviously knows something that we don’t, so if he says to stay away, we stay away” Dean said.
“I don’t understand the blind faith you have in the man. I mean, it’s like you don’t even question him” Sam says mad. “Yeah, it’s called being a good son” Dean yells making Sam angrily , gets out of the car. Dean also gets out, as do I and we watch as Sam unloading things from the trunk. “You’re a selfish bastard, you know that? You just do whatever you want. Don’t care what anybody thinks” Dean says to Sam and meets him around the back of the car. “That’s what you really think” Sam asks “yes it is, and I have proof” Dean says.
Sam laughs “and what's that”. I feel like I'm going to be drawn into this soon “Shelby” Dean said, yep there it is. “Shelby came to me as a ghost, I'm the one who looked for her when she was taken, and what did you do. You moved on, like nothing ever happened, she's our sister for gods sake” Dean yelled. “I care about her too” Sam yelled and I move between them. “Enough, enough, both of you, alright; now me coming to Dean had nothing to do with you Dean. I barley knew where you were” I say, looking at Sam.
“And just because you tried to look for me and Sam didn't doesn't mean that he didn't care” I say, looking at Dean. “Now enough both of you” I say mad and take a step back “well, this selfish bastard is going to California” Sam says and puts on his backpack and starts walking away. “Sam” I yell “come on, you’re not serious” Dean yells to him “I am serious” Sam says as he continues to walk. “It’s the middle of the night! Hey, I’m taking off, I will leave your ass, you hear me” Dean yells to him. Sam stops walking and turns around. “That’s what I want you to do” he says and Dean and Sam stare at each other for a few seconds, waiting.
“Goodbye Sam” Dean says and closes the trunk, “what, Dean, what the hell are you doing” I say surprised and turn to Dean. “I'm making my choice, now you do to” Dean says and gets in the car, starting it up to see what I'll do. I look at Sam upset as he looks at me, a little upset too. “I'm sorry Sam” I say and get in the passenger seat and Dean drives away with Sam watching us before starting to walk again.
“Dean, why did you do that” I say softly “hey, I'm not the only one, you chose to come with me” Dean said, still mad. “Yeah, because one, you have a car, two at the end of the day I do agree with you about dad. But I also agree with Sam. Dad doesn't want to talk to me, he hates me. That makes me agree with you because then I don't need to see him hating me in person. But I want to see him, and that's were I agree with Sam” I said a Dean continues to look foreword.
“Call him Dean” I tell Dean and he shakes his head “not happening, Shelby” Dean says. “Fine” I say and unbuckle myself, making Dean look over at me “what are you doing” Dean ask? I lay my hand on the door opener “either you stop the car, pull over, and call Sam or I'll give you a reason to stop the car” I say mad. Dean looks at me and back at the road a few times, deciding weather or not I'd actually do it. “Dame it” he says mad and pulls over. We're in Burkitsville, Indiana. Dean pulls out his cell phone and selects the name “Sam Mobile” and thinks about calling Sam. “Dean” I say.
Dean looks at me for a second before sighing. “Go ahead, we;re were we need to be anyways” Dean says and gets out of the car. I sit there for a second and sigh before getting out of the car and close the door. We walk into Scotty's Cafe, Scotty is sitting in a chair on the porch. Dean and I walk up to him “let me guess” Dean says and gestures to the sign “Scotty” he finishes. Scotty looks at the sign before looking at Dean and I “yep” is all he says.
“Hi, my name’s John Bonham, this is Lisa Bonham” Dean says “isn’t John Bonham that drummer for Led Zeppelin” Scotty asks? Dean looks taken aback “wow, good, classic rock fan”. I roll my eyes at Dean “what can I do for you, John and Lisa”? Dean takes two pieces of paper out of his pocket. They are Missing Person fliers for Holly and Vince Parker. “We was wondering if you’d seen these people by chance” I asked and Scoty looks at the fliers.
“Nope, who are they” Scotty asks, looking at us. “Friends of ours, they went missing about a year ago. They passed through somewhere around here, and we've already asked around Scottsburg and Salem” Dean starts “sorry” Scotty says and hands me the fliers “we don’t get many strangers around here”. Dean and I nod “Scotty, you’ve got a smile that lights up a room, anybody ever tell you that” Dean says and Scotty stares at him strangle. Dean chuckled “never mind, see you around” Dean says and we head back to the car as it starts to storm.
Dean and I head to Jorgeson General Store and talked to the workers. “You sure they didn’t stop for gas or something” I asked them and Stacy shakes her head. “Nope, don’t remember ‘em. You said they were friends of yours” Harley asks? “That’s right” Dean said and a girl, Emily, came down the stairs, carrying some boxes asks something “did the guy have a tattoo”? “Yes, he did” Dena said and Emily puts the boxes on the counter and looks at the picture of Vince. She looks at Stacy and Harley “you remember, they were just married” Emily says.
Harley seems to remember it “you’re right, they did stop for gas. Weren’t here more than ten minutes” Harley said. “You remember anything else” I asked “I told ‘em how to get back to the Interstate. They left town” Harley says “could you point us in that same direction” Dean asks “sure” Harley says and nods. Dean and I get back in the car and start to drive. “Dean, this is ridicules, for all we know there's nothing out here” I tell him “you and I both know that's not true” Dean said.
I sighed and leaned my head on my hand “what's wrong with you” Dean asks? “Which part, the fact that our brother is all by himself looking for dad, or the fact that our own dad doesn't want to talk to me” I said, looking at Dean. “Why does dad hate you so much anyways” Dean asked? “To be honest, I don't know, unless he still thinks I'm some kind of creature” I say shaking my hands. “Even so, your still his daughter” Dean said and I couldn't help but smile a little.
“Dean, maybe there's nothing out here” I say and start to hear a beeping noise. “What the hell” Dean said and looks at me wired before pulling over and reaches into his bag. He pulls out the EMF meter, which is beeping frantically “yeah, defiantly nothing” Dean says looking at me and I glare at him. We get out of the car and head into the orchard. We start to walk around and see a scarecrow on its post. “Well, will you look at that” Dean says and walks over to it and looks at it for a second. “Dean, oh my god” I say and he quick looks at me “what” he asks?
“It's you” I said and Dean gives me a 'really' look. I chuckle and he rolls his eyes “he is fugly” Dean says. “Dean” I say and nod to a sickle in the scarecrow’s hand and a design on its arm. Dean takes a ladder from a nearby tree and climbs to the top so that he is eye level with the scarecrow. He moves its clothing and looks at it “it's the same design from Vince's tattoo” Dean says. “Are you sure” I ask and take out Vinces's flier and compare the designs, which are exactly the same. “Nice tat” he says and looks at the scarecrow.
