Megan's POV
It was a warm, sunny day in Texas. Warm and sunny days weren't that rare in the South but non-humid, warm, and sunny were. It was gorgeous and there was a breeze. I didn't live in Texas but I was here because of my parents' job. They were both in the same business so my family often travelled together. This meant long car rides, long flights, and constantly being cooped indoors. I was very delighted to be outside as I walked down the sidewalk with my skateboard under my arm. I was trying to decide whether I wanted to find a skatepark or just board right here on the sidewalk. Meh. Skatepark it is.
I knew exactly where it was because we constantly drove past it ever since we'd landed here. I was intimidated at first because the skatepark was filled with bigger guys who all seemed to be friends with each other. There was literally one other guy there who didn't seem to be part of the posse. He was in his own world and it was quite endearing. Of course he caught my eye because he was one of the only people with bright yellow earbuds and he was far away from the other guys. I instantly gravitated towards hanging with the loner guy because 1. The other guys here were a bit unapproachable and 2. I wanted to see if he was cute. I walked along the edge of the park away from the slopes and dips in the center. One guy was standing by the edge and I tried to scoot past him without falling off the ledge. He frowned at me and I ignored that.
"Excuse me." I said as politely as possible. He was really ticking me off.
"Whatever." He huffed.
He finally moved out of the way but I didn't see that his foot was out to trip me so I continued walking. I tripped and fell, sliding down one of the ramps. One guy was zooming towards me but the wind was knocked out of me so I couldn't move quickly. I tried to sit up but I was literally ran over by a skater. He fell a little ways away from me and I couldn't get up.
The guy that had fallen over me got up and was fuming.
"Gosh. You're so rude. You can't just lay there. Duh."
"I tripped..." I croaked.
"Excuse me. Could you move your leg off my board?" He asked harshly. Gosh. I seriously could've gotten hurt after you nearly skateboarded through me and now you're mad cuz my leg is barely on your board? For real? Wow.
I felt myself being shoved violently over. The guy was glaring at me and all his friends were watching and laughing. I tried to get up but I couldn't muster up the courage and I still couldn't quite catch my breath.
"Aww. Do you need help up?" He asked and surprisingly, held out his hand.
"Yes, please." I sat up to take his hand and he pushed me back down.
"This place is for boys only. Scram!" He screamed in my face. I was too terrified to cry or react so I just laid there. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see that other misfit guy taking off his helmet. Ooh. He's got some seriously blonde hair....I likey.
Anyway, he dropped his board and took out his earbuds setting them, along with his phone, on his board. He rushed down to where the other guys were and I smiled to myself.
"I seriously hope I was imagining things because it looked like you just hit her and screamed in her face." He said calmly. "Good thing you didn't because real men like you wouldn't be so cruel, heartless, and hateful. Especially to a young lady."
They all kinda stared at Blondie blankly.
"You really think we wanna hear any of that crap?"
"Well I figured I'd give you a chance before I beat you up but apparently you don't wanna hear so never mind."
Blondie grabbed the one guy who ran had me over. "You better apologize to her right now."
"Or else?"
Blondie's gave a menacing chuckle before taking the bully down. My eyes widened in shock and I finally stood up slowly.
The guy laid there on the ground with his hands over his fresh bloody nose. The other boys in the posse stood there with slight fear in their eyes.
"Don't be fooled into thinking that the rest of ya'll are off the hook." The tall, blonde-haired boy looked especially in the direction of the guy who had tripped me in the first place. "Cuz I will take you down too."
When I looked again, the posse of boys were helping each other up and leaving the skatepark.
"Gosh. Are you okay?" Blondie asked me.
"Yeahhhh...." I said not really listening to him.
"You sure?"
"Yeahhhh....."
"So you good?" He triple checked. " Cuz imma head out."
"Yeahhh...."
Oh wait. No. Don't leave me. Wait. Aww man. He's kinda cute. I was bummed that I didn't get to talk more with Blondie and I didn't even get to find out his name....
