"This is wrong. You'll find many more fish in the sea"
"But I've already settled for one," Louis whispered, tears streaming down his cheeks, sobs making his body tremble and shake.
"Past is present and present is past. The story repeats itself all over again. We're from different worlds, boo. No matter which universe, 'us' will never exist," Harry explained to him calmly, managing a sad smile.
The words hurt him like bittersweet cherry wine, liquor slipping down his throat and burning a hole into his flesh. He knew it was true and all the facts were laid out like overripe apples, just waiting to be collected.
But he didn't want to collect them. He wanted to keep pretending that everything was okay.
"I need you Harry," Louis whimpered quietly, knowing this was his last chance before he'd lose Harry forever.
His emerald eyes shone out all the grief and regret he had been holding inside, but never spoke out loud. This boy in front of him had been hurting like no one could ever imagine and yet he kept it all bottled up, not infecting anyone with his problems.
Louis knew better now. Harry will never find true ecstasy because he simply doesn't let happiness come to him.
In that moment, where it was just him and Harry on a meadow that was blanketed with snowflakes, dancing and twirling in the air, he felt empty. It was like losing someone who was the fond object of his affection and desire.
A sunray gently touched Louis's forehead, as if it wanted to scatter light into his clearing soul and prophesy the dawn of a day after. The forest-hanging tops covered them with peace and silence. The brooks, hidden under leaf bridges, meandered through the valleys and mirrored them. They mixed their murmuring tide and then lost themselves without a trace.
Instead of a response, Harry overcame the last bit of distance between them and brought his lips to Louis's. He pressed his soft, plump lips to the smaller boys, wrapping his fragile body into his arms.
Louis closed his eyes, letting a delightful sensation roll in him to blind out the sorrow. Harry's mouth molded to his perfectly, opening, his tongue darting out to lick at Louis's lips. This was wrong, everything seemed out of place, but Louis shut it out.
His touch was like rum on fire, burning slow but passionate.
Harry kissed him so fiercely, like there was no tommorow for them anymore and Louis kissed him back, with all that he had.
"We can't outrun our destinies, Lou," he said between kisses. "At some point they are going to part ways"
Harry pulled back, creating enough space so he could look at Louis. Louis looked up at him, desire sweeping across his face and triggering an equally intense wave of frustration towards Harry.
When his words failed, Harry spoke again. His voice was husky, causing more heartache to Louis. "We only hurt each other. Being with me hurts you. Well, you don't see it, because your lovesick."
He said it more like a caring statement, not like a mockery.
Then the boy leaned into the side of Louis's head and breathed against his ear, "Grief is the price you pay for love"
He paused slightly and rested his lips right there without moving them. It seemed like he was hurting himself from saying these words. His face went pale from realization like it robbed the air from his lungs.
"I am not your fish, Lou"
