Spencer does not tell Gia though. Instead, he continued his friendship with her. He found excuse after excuse to call her or visit her.
Spencer is sat on the couch of the jet when he overhears Emily and Derek teasing him.
"Hey Prentiss, ask me?" Derek encourages.
Emily nodded, smugly. "Hey Reid, what are your plans this weekend?" She asked Derek.
"I'm going to DC." Derek mimicked Spencer. Spencer shook his head.
"You want to have dinner with us Reid?" Emily went on.
"I can't I have plans in DC," Derek laughed out.
"Hey Reid, how was your weekend?" Emily stifled her laughter.
"Great. I love visiting... DC." Derek sniggered.
This followed by a series of small laughs across the plan.
Emily turned to Spencer. "Are you ever going to tell us?"
"About what?" Spencer feigned innocence.
"Reid, we are profiler. Come on."
Hotch, who is sat beside Spencer, foils their plans. "Leave him alone." Spencer smiled at Hotch gratefully. "Can I speak to you a moment Reid?"
"Hmmm."
"I'm not trying to interfere, but if she is close to you then you know we need to update your file. It's protocol."
"I need to talk to her first Hotch."
"I understand. Take as long as you need."
"Hopefully it won't be long." Spencer speculated.
