there's some grey's anatomy spoilers

(also, there's like a crash course on how to use a pad, so have fun with that)

"I started my period, and I don't know how to deal with it, and none of my brothers know, and there's not a single freaking girl in this household, and I was just calling to ask you how to deal with it because I've actually never gotten my period before which is weird so yeah."

"I'll be over in 10." She said before hanging up.

I stared down at my phone. How did Diya know where I live?

Not even a minute later, my phone screen flashed with an incoming call.

"Um yeah, so I kinda forgot to ask you where you live?"

***

It had been about 20 minutes now since Diya had called back for my address, and I started to lose hope that she was even coming.

Just as I was about to text her to ask, I heard the doorbell ring.

Oh, thank god she's here. I can't handle people bailing on me cause I overthink it, and that's a whole different issue.

I ran down the stairs and quietly opened the front door, trying not to wake anyone up again.

However, when I opened the door, I almost doubled over in laughter.

Diya was wearing a black, matching pajama set that had little boxing gloves over it. She also had massive bedhead, with a sleeping mask still on her forehead. Oh, and the bag that she was carrying had the same print as her pajamas.

Honestly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Stupid period emotions.

"Yeah yeah" she said, pushing past me, "I look like a mess, but it's almost 4:30 in the morning. Can't expect much better from me than this."

"God thank you so much for coming, Diya."

She was glancing around my house, my words seemingly snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Huh? Oh yeah, no problemo. Anywho, where's your room?"

We made it up to my room and plopped down on the Queen sized bed, sitting in comfortable silence for a few moments.

"Okey dokey, time to give you what I came here for. What do you use, pads or tampons?" She asked.

"Oh uh, I don't really know." I said, my face burning in shame, "Sorry."

"Hey it's no problem. But just think of it as the one you shove up your hoohah, but like not really your hoohah, and the other makes you sit in your own blood."

"Ew."

"Yeah, periods such, honestly. But I'm just gonna give you some pads cause I have no idea how to use a tampon."

"Okay, thank you." I quietly said while looking down at my hands.

It was so surreal to me to have a friend that would do this for me.

"Oh that reminds me." Diya started, "I'm sorry I took forever to get here. I stopped by Walmart on the way over, and I'm way too indecisive to buy stuff. I actually live only 10 minutes from here."

Walmart? Ugh, love Walmart. I feel like Walmart is the grocery place, Kroger the bakery place, and Target the clothes/room decor/everything else place.

"Uh Diya, how do you put this on?" I glanced down at the pad in my hand. How the heck was this square supposed to do something.

"Oh, it's super easy, don't worry." She said, grabbing the pad out of my hand, "I got the biggest ones cause go big or go home right. Anywho, you just unwrap it, then peel the little label thingy off, and stick these two wing thing under your underwear."

Okay, Emma, you got this. Gosh, I must have light night brain because I swear I know how to use a pad.

I went to my bathroom built into my room, which was so freaking cool, and did my business before coming out.

Diya had opened her bag now, and sitting on my bed were six pints of ice cream along with two figurines?

I walked over to the bed grabbed the Elsa one before realizing that these were spoons.
(Spoons are at the end of the chapter)

I looked down at the spoon, then back up at Diya, who was giving me a sheepish smile.

"You are a child." I stated.

"Hey, they're cute."

"Second thing, who in the world is gonna eat all this ice cream. Like I appreciate the thought, but I can't eat all that."

"Not with that attitude you can't." Diya said, flashing me a grin. "Now while you were gone, I noticed you have a huge tv in your room which is cool, but I also took the liberty of turning it on because you woke me up at 4 in the morning and discovered you have Netflix."

I stared at Diya, confused. How can one girl talk so much?

"And I've finally decided on a better nickname for you. I, for some reason, just realized that you're Spanish, so I shall call you Amigo."

Eh, that was definitely a step up from Peachy.

"So...wanna watch Grey's Anatomy while gorging yourself on ice cream and chocolate and most likely hearing me cry every time a character dies, and probably staying up for the rest of the night?"

"Sure." I said, shrugging my shoulders. What's the worst that could happen?

(time skip to the following day)

I awoke to the sun shining bright on my face and the sound of a hairdryer buzzing through my ears.

"Huh?" I babbled out, only half coherent and half asleep.

"Oh sorry, did I wake you up?" Diya whispered.

"What?" I said, a bit more awake now as I glanced at the clock on my nightstand, "Oh my god, I'm gonna be late for school." I tried jumping out of bed but was promptly pushed back down by Diya.

"You're not going to school today." She said while handing me a mint and a plate of pancakes. "I checked with your brothers already. Oh and eat the mint, eat the pancakes, then swallow this Advil with this glass of water, okay?"

"Uh-huh." I absentmindedly said while staring down at the plate of pancakes. There had to be like 8 or something on this plate alone.

"Oh, and you have to finish those pancakes, cause one of your brothers said so, and two, I braved your scary ass brothers to make those for you, so please eat them."

She continued fixing up her hair and outfit before grabbing her phone, which was also on my nightstand.

"Also, like last thing before I leave, I stole your hoodie cause I forgot to bring a shirt. I'll give it back later." Diya glanced down at the watch on her wrist. "Oh crap, I've gotta go now. Bye. Eat those pancakes and take your meds."

She rushed out of the room, a fleeting "I'm bringing you your homework." floating in the air behind her.
