As I was finishing up on my make up someone was banging on my front door.
I went downstairs and grabbed my gun out the vase that sat by the door and opened the door to see who it was
"Omg Javon why you knocking on my door like that"I said to my baby daddy
"My bad"he said texting away on his phone
"Hey baby,why your dad put you in the wrong outfit"I asked her
"I stayed at auntie De house"she said
"I knew he was gonna do that go get changed into what's on your bed"I said kissing her head as she ran inside
"Why do you pick her up if you not gon spend time wit her?"I asked him
He wasn't even listening
"Huh?"he said dumbly
I kissed my teeth and closed the door on him
I put the gun back in the vase and went upstairs to check on my daughter
"You okay pooh?"i asked her walking in her room
"Yhhh can you do my hair please,daddy didnt do it at alllll"She dragged
Whilst I do her hair lemme give you a background check
I'm Nala Rose and I'm 24 years old.I have a daughter called Akira and she's 6.I don't have a regular job I work for the biggest Kingpin in New York,big Phil, but I own and run my own section in Harlem.
My section only has women workers only who I know are serious bout they bread and women I trust and know won't steal from me.Akira knows my line of work,she's a very smart and observant for her age so we don't keep secrets from each other.
Akira's father and I met when we were young and thought we were in love but he cheated multiple times and I got pregnant at 17 and gave birth at 18.
But now he's changed for the good and bad.He's engaged to another woman and they have a children
together,so that's good.He tries to remember Akira and take her when he can but it's rare
Tonight I had a dinner meeting to attend with Big Phil and a few others who work for him and Akira was also invited.

"Okay get your coat and let's go cos we late already"I said as I finished her hair
We have two pit bulls a girl and a boy who are siblings Bella and Boxer and Akira treats them like her babies.
She made sure they had food and water before finally being ready
I grabbed my bag and the keys to my Mercedes and we left the house.
"Seatbelt Missy"I said to Akira as she moved her booster seat to the front
We pulled out the gate and headed to Phil's mansion
Once we arrived the valet took the car and we entered the home.
"Thank you"I said to the server with a tray of champagne
"Is that my niece and grandniece "Phil yelled from the top of the stairs
"Hey papa"Akira yelled running up to him
They met in the middle of the stairs and gave each a hug before coming down
"My favourite Niece how you doing baby"he said giving me a hug
"You mean your only niece I'm good"I said laughing
Phils not really my uncle but him and my pops were bestfriends and ran new York together and when my pops died Phil took me in and taught me everything I know.
"Cmon dinner is starting soon we just waiting on one more person,Akira baby your friends waiting for you on the kids table"Phil said as we walked into the house
Akira gave me her coat and ran off to her friends.
We walked into the dining room and the table was pretty much full .
"Heyy Girll"I said giving Phil's wife,Monica a hug
I was the only girl that worked for Phil the rest were men they were like my brothers.
I greeted everyone else and went to sit down next to Monica.
"Monica where's this boy dinner gon get cold"Phil fussed
"Who we waiting on?"Jeremiah asked
(Another worker)
"David stupid ass"he said kissing his teeth
I had never seen david not even a picture only heard about him
About 5 minutes later he walked into the room.
I wasn't not expecting him to be fineeeee
A bitch was speechless
"David this is Nala,Nala david"Monica introduced us
"Nice to meet you"I said giving him a side hug
Yall already know he smelttt tooooo gooooddd
"You too ma"he asked licking his lips
He sat in the seat opposite me and dinner was finally served.
As we ate I could feel david occasionally stare at me and I tried to not look back but I failed at the a couple of times
After dinner we had to go begin the real business talk in the next room.
"Mama we going outside,can I have my coat please?"Akira asked running up to me
"Yhh here,you finished you food?"I asked her
"Yah, we had burgers and fries and milkshakes"she said
"Okay baby be careful"I said wiping ketchup off her face
She ran off and I began fixing my hair in a mirror in the hallway
"She's beautiful"I heard a voice say
I looked to the side and saw it was David with a glass of henny in his hand
"Thank you,she gets it from me"I said joking but proud and confidently
"Oh don't worry bout that ma, I can tell"he chuckled before walking away
We all gathered in the conference room and began our discussion.
"Right west side money coming up short Isacc,Cole speak to me what's going on?"Phil asked
"We think someone else selling in our locations,we asking and finding out who"Coke said
"Good fix it fast"Phil said
Phil went on about all the other areas before coming to mine.
"Nala sales are perfect keep it up and before I forget,David is setting up his section with yours"He said
Happy?
No
"Huhh,but Phil you know I like my section"I whined hoping he would change his mind
"Tough stop pouting,if I put you together that's more money for me more money for me means more for you and more for Akira"he said
He knewww I would crumble and at two words
Money and Akira
"Fine"I surrendered
"Perfect,David set it up get your workers and start selling Asap"Phil said
After about 30 minutes we were done and it was hometime.
It was like midnight and Akira has school tomorrow.
"Akira let's go Pooh"I said walking into the cinema room
She said bye to her friends and we said our goodbyes to Phil and Monica before going out front to get our car
"Hey David!"Akira said hugging him
"Wassup lil bit I ain't know this was your moms"david said looking at me
How the hell Akira been know him and I only officially met him today.
The valet pulled up my car
"Akira say bye and get in the car so we can go"I did opening her door
"Bye Dave see you next time"she said before getting in
I closed her door and went round to my side.
"What?you ain't gonna say bye"Dave asked me
I laughed"goodnight david"I said and got in pulling off.
