ARC    II   ;
when time becomes history.

— say,
were you truly free?
had you obtained a redemption, a salvation?
would you really be able to save your soul?

𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗠𝗘,     𝗢𝗛 𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗠𝗘,
𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗗, 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗.

THE NIGHT YOU ANNIHILATED THE WHOLE CITY OF KEMI, the dust was falling heavily. You wandered along with the arrays of trees in a forsaken land, inebriated; you were singing to yourself over and over again . . . So softly, it was only a whisper:

"Unto here and a great distance to nowhere . . .
Unto here and a great distance to nothing."

You walked barefooted, stepping on sharp rocks consciously yet unconsciously; bleeding for a little while, yet healing as though nothing pained you. Somehow, it must be some kind of self-punishment, it could be a mere ponder as well.

How were you able to attain such power? If remembering the words of Tengen before: Reversal Curse Technique.

Yet you knew it was beyond that; you had erased an entire city in the face of the earth. You destroyed all of the living matter in a certain reach, it was as if you held the time on the palms of your hands, having the dominion over the forces of nature.

Suddenly, you had the urge to vomit, waves of nausea added to your misery. You squatted there for a while. Then with both hands, you scooped up dust from the ground, and bring it close to your chest. You wept.

"Where doeth this little path go?
What path I shouldest go?"

You could hear indistinctly from the distance, like an auditory hallucination, the voice of a little devil cooing at your despair.

Your despair stemmed entirely from your own self, and you had no way of fighting it. You really didn't know yourself, since you seemed in either case to be a mass of curse or flesh.

You dropped steadily and had no specific purpose to stave off your descent. You got up from the dusty ground with the thought:

I hath to reclaim thyself . . .

Your whole mundane self.

You had wrapped your comprehension on how potent the ability you possessed. It was quite a feat: the spiteful performance you did in Kemi. For sure, there was enough to eradicate the whole world. If you wanted, you could be sovereign in other countries: tens of thousands—no, hundreds of thousands of people; or could walk out to their temples and have the kings and queens kiss your feet; send the religious leaders news and reveal yourself as the most blessed one; be anointed as Supreme Goddess before earthly titles, or even as a god come to earth—if there were such things as gods themselves.

You could do all that, if only you wanted to. You possessed the power, held it in your hand. A power stronger than the power of riches and wealth, or the power of terror, or the power of death: the invincible power to command mankind. There was only one thing your power could not do: to conspire your death.

You continued your journey, without a reason in your life. All of the shadows became your friend; a revel was found in tragedy.

In the land of Kálíkhaan, you drew close to the Avenue of the Dead. You smelled the cool wind that came from it. But you felt no urge to extend your stay long enough. You no longer yearned for your life in this sanctimonious place. Experiencing that prestigious life once and it proved unlivable—life among human beings. You were suffocated by this world. You no longer wanted to live at all. You wanted to set an unending journey and die. That was what you wanted.

Thus,

Days came and nights left; nights came, days left, and this life was never withering. The sun rose and the sun set, and hurried back to where it rose. What had been would be again, what had been done, would be done once again.

Seasons changed, yet your life remained stagnant.

Everything passes.

There was nothing new under the sun. Was there anything of which one dared to say there was new . . . It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

Now, you had neither happiness nor unhappiness.

Everything passes.

You had seen how the world revolved, and you could no longer surmise what culture and technology looked like. You had witnessed how two stars collided, got informed how a star went supernova, and still recognized the constellations slightly altered.

Everything passes.

This year, you were over a thousand years old—you actually lost count.

Your hair was still flawless black, woven like the blackest of heavens, and fine strands of grey were highlighted like spacetime and starlight on the tips of your hair.

Most people would take you for a saint sent by the heavens, and the blood of the gods lived in your veins. At a tender age, people saw your unusually mature and deeply sympathetic nature and cleverness beyond your years.

If only they were truly able to discern, when passing right next to you, they would hear the dying celestials sobbing and dying inside of you . . . So loud and pungent that one could smell the flesh of the dead rotting.

Everything passes.

There was no amount clinging to your name, thus you learned, to your way of life and to the constant white noise nonsense thoughts inside.

It was as mere at it was . . .

❝ Everything passes.
