Luna hobbled down the stairs, glancing down at her bandage-wrapped ankle with a glare. It was just her luck to sprain her ankle right before a pep rally. It's not like she was looking forward to it, but she was a member of the cheer team, and not being up there with the rest of the team was going to be strange.

"Do you need help?" Peter asked from the living room.

"I'll be fine," she waved him off, skipping over to the kitchen. "Where's mom?"

"Work," Peter answered, lifting himself off of the couch and stalking over to the girl. "She'll be home at a decent hour tonight."

"Sure," Luna scoffed, grabbing her keys. "I'll see you later."

"Are you sure you can drive?" Peter questioned. "You hurt your dominant ankle."

Luna hesitated, debating on whether or not to take him up on the offer. But then she glanced down at her leg with a grimace on her face and gave in.

"Fine. But, you don't need to pick me up from school or anything."

Peter nodded, grabbing her backpack from the floor and slinging it over his shoulder bringing him back to a time before she had her license and wasn't fueled with anger towards him. While Luna couldn't help but also think back to that time as well. A time where she actually got along with him but that phase did not last long for her and if she was being honest, she sort of resented herself for that.

They came to a stop in front of the school, Luna was running a bit behind for the pep rally and tried her best to run out of the car but it wasn't much of a run considering her ankle. But she soon made her way out to the bleachers and found Layla and Liv, pushing them apart and sitting in between them.

Both girls greeted her quickly before placing their attention towards Coach Baker who was reading the names of the players. And as soon as Jordan's name was called, Luna couldn't help but cheer a bit louder than she probably should've which sparked his attention and he threw a wink in her direction. Alerting the attention of his twin sister.

"Hey, Luna?" Liv turned towards her friend. "What the hell was that?"

"Oh, that...That was just Jordan being Jordan," she shrugged. "Okay, I'm lying. We've gotten...closer."

"Yeah, I know," Liv stated, proudly. "Jordan's had a crush on you since we were kids. But you were too blind to notice."

"Wait, so you're okay with this?" Luna clarified. "Because if you're not, I will drop his ass in a heartbeat. Ho's before bros, dude."

"I am okay with this," Liv laughed. "But, don't forget...Ho's before bros."

Luna reached over to peck her cheek. "I love you!"

"Hey," Layla frowned, tapping her cheek. "You forgot someone."

"How could I forget you?" Luna rolled her eyes, playfully.

♡♡♡

Luna kept her fist placed under her chin as she listened to Mr. Vega drone on about their paper that she regrettably forgot to turn in. She knew it was midterms week aka the most important week to turn in assignments but this was an assignment she just couldn't allow herself to turn in.

She kicked Liv's chair, leaning over to whisper in her ear. "Mr. Vega's kind of hot, huh? In like a, I read Faulkner type of way."

"Dude..." Liv turned around with a menacing look in her eye. "One, ew! Two, I should kick your ass for not turning in your paper."

"Okay, I'll finish grading your papers today, so everyone you'll have your grades by this weekend." Mr. Vega announced. "Miss Ramirez, a word?"

Luna got up from her seat, gathering her things and shoving them into her backpack. Hanging her head down shamefully as she approached her teacher.

"What's up?"

"I couldn't help but notice that you forgot to turn in your essay," Mr. Vega sighed.

"Yeah...forgot," she winced. "Sure. Let's go with that."

"It's midterms week, Luna," Mr. Vega shook his head. "You are a straight-A student. Have been since freshman year, I'd hate for this assignment to ruin that."

"Right," Luna nodded. "Is there like...an alternative assignment?"

"Get the assignment into me before Friday," Mr. Vega sternly stated. "Or I have no choice but to give you an F."

Luna silently nodded, turning around and walking in the direction of the door, getting stopped by an extremely excited Jordan Baker.

"I hope you didn't make any plans for lunch," Jordan grinned. "We are ditching our friends and going on our first date."

"Right now?" she questioned.

"Yes," he confirmed. "Is that a problem?"

"I have plans," she winced. "I'm sorry, Jordan."

"Okay...with who?" Jordan asked.

"You are not my boyfriend, Jordan," Luna shook her head. "You don't need to know every single detail of my life. But, if you must know, I've got plans with...Jake. To end things."

"Yet," Jordan corrected. "I'm not your boyfriend, yet."

"Come to my house, tonight," Luna negotiated. "We can have a date. I'll even cook."

"I'll be there at 5," Jordan agreed.

"Make it 6 and we have a deal," Luna kissed his cheek. "Bye!"

♡♡♡

Jake stared at the guilty-faced girl sitting across from him at the cafe in Beverly Hills. Luna had been trying to rack her brain to find the right words. She had felt terribly for the way things went down between them, she was ultimately just using him to make Jordan jealous because of Ripley. And then Jake tried to reach out to her but she never responded.

"Are you gonna say something?" he spat.

His coldness towards her was not surprising but she wasn't entirely expecting him to be so mean.

"I'm sorry...for how things went down."

"I shouldn't even be surprised" Jake scoffed. "You haven't changed. You just used me and once you got what you wanted. You threw me to the side. Nothing new."

"Look, I'm sorry, okay?" Luna softly said. "You're completely right. I was using you. It was wrong of me and...I just should've never involved you in my issues."

Jake shook his head, pushing himself off of the chair. "You shouldn't have. In fact...lose my number, Luna."

♡♡♡

Luna stood at the stove, stirring the wooden spoon into the pot of noodles as she prepared for her and Jordan's first date. If she was being completely transparent she had been on many dates with a lot of people but she had never put any effort into them. However, tonight was different.

"Luna?" Peter glanced at her with confusion filling his face as he entered the kitchen with Jordan beside him and a bouquet of flowers in his hand. "I believe your guest has arrived."

"Right," she flushed red. "Um, why don't you go to my room or something? I'm not quite finished."

"Here's a better idea," Peter scoffed. "Jordan can take a seat in the backyard."

"That's fine with me," Jordan intervened, trying to get into the good graces of her stepdad. "I probably shouldn't be in your room..." he outstretched his hand, handing her the flowers. "These are for you."

"Thank you," Luna grinned, placing them on the counter. "Go outside, please. I'll be out there in like 10 minutes."

Jordan complied and walked in the direction of her backyard while Luna tended back to their food and tried her best to avoid the curious stare from Peter. She placed the pasta into some bowls and had to practically force her stepdad not to follow after her as she walked out to the backyard dining table.

"I can't believe you cooked for me," Jordan chuckled. "I didn't even know you could cook."

"What?" she gasped. "I'm a great cook!"

"Luna..." he shook his head. "I've known you for 9 years and not once have I seen you cook. Or even pick up a spatula. You literally have a housekeeper who cooks for you every day."

"I can't believe we've known each other for that long," she sighed. "I mean, you were Asher's best friend and Liv's annoying twin brother. While I was Liv's—"

"Really attractive best friend that I may or may not have had a crush on," Jordan cut her off with a smirk. "You might not have noticed me but I noticed you."

She glanced down at her bowl of pasta with flushed cheeks. "You sure do have a way with words, Baker."

Jordan let out a loud laugh clearly amused at how red her cheeks were. As time went by, the two had continued eating their food which he let her know that he was very impressed by her cooking while also talking about some things and sort of getting to know each other a bit better. Because what Luna had said was true, they weren't very close for people who had known each other for nine years.

"Hey, you've got..." Luna licked her thumb, swiping some excess sauce from the corners of Jordan's mouth. "You're a messy eater."

"Um...I should probably get out of here soon," he checked his watch. "Liv said you had that paper for Vega's class to work on and that I probably shouldn't be here bothering you."

"She's such a pain in my ass," she frowned. "But...I, uh, finished it. Weeks ago, actually. I just never turned it in."

"That was dumb of you," Jordan bluntly stated. "Do you really wanna ruin your perfect GPA?"

"It was just a hard essay to write," she sighed. "I couldn't turn it in. It was too personal."

"Vega loves personal," Jordan shrugged. "Or so I've heard. I don't have his class or anything but Liv does. And if you want, I can read it."

Luna pushed herself off of the seat and outstretched her hand for Jordan. "Do you wanna see something?"

"Or you can ignore everything we just talked about," he mumbled under his breath.

He hesitantly placed his hand in her hold, allowing for her to pull him around in any direction which she did. Dragging him all around the house until they hit a set of double doors, Luna glanced up at the taller boy with a small smile on her face before opening the doors and revealing her art room.

"Woah," Jordan gasped, looking around at the room. "You did all of these?"

"Yeah," she shrugged. "I don't really let anyone in here. Not even my mom. So...it's kind of—"

"Personal?" he raised his eyebrow. "Does this mean you'll let me read your essay?"

"Take a seat on the floor," Luna rolled her eyes. "My laptop's in here somewhere."

Jordan happily obliged, taking a seat right on the floor and crossing his legs while Luna walked around in search of her computer. She found it tucked underneath some cans of paint, shaking her head softly at how reckless she was when it came to valuable items. She walked back over to Jordan sitting right across from him and setting her laptop in between them.

"Don't...judge me, okay?" she glanced up at him with wide eyes. "This is personal, Jordan and I'm letting you read it."

"I won't judge you," he promised. "Just let me read it."

She faced the computer to him after opening up the document. "Here."

Jordan's pulled it closer to him and his eyes roamed the document. Occasionally glancing at the girl in front of him as he read the words that had poured out from her heart.

"If you asked me who my biggest influence was 3 years ago, I'd say my mom. But, now as reevaluate my life and look at the bigger picture, I'd say it's my stepfather, Peter Adams," Jordan recited a few lines of her essay. "It takes a decent man to raise their own flesh and blood. However, it takes an admirable man to raise a child who isn't—"

"Don't read it all," she cringed. "Does it suck?"

"No. I think you wrote a great essay," he sighed. "So, why haven't you turned it in?"

"Because I still have an attachment to my dad," she admitted. "So writing this and turning it in feels like I'm betraying him."

"You better turn this is in. Or, I will," Jordan said. "Because I emailed myself a copy. And maybe think about showing this to Peter. It'll make him feel a whole lot better considering you aren't the nicest to him."

"Who knew you were so smart?" she joked.

"I've always been smart," Jordan teased.

Luna moved closer to Jordan, while he brought his hand up and pushed away a few fallen strands of hair. He moved his hand down, slipping his arm around her waist and pulling her closer to him while she pushed her computer to the side since it was right in between them. His breath was practically fanning her face as he leaned down before she met him in the middle and pressed her lips against his.

Considering they were still on the floor of her art room, she gently placed her hands against his shoulder and pushed him down into a laying position. Moving on top of him and straddling his lap and Jordan kept a firm grip on her waist only pulling apart when it was necessary for air.

His hands had brushed against the bottom of her t-shirt and before things could escalate, someone had entered the room with a horrified expression.

"What the hell?"

Luna lifted her head and turned to face the voice, quickly scrambling off of Jordan's lap. "Asher? You're supposed to knock before you enter this room."

"I did," Asher scoffed. "Three times. I was wondering if you wanted to watch a movie in the theater room but clearly, you're busy."

"Yeah, dude," Jordan glared at him. "Beat it."

"Okay, no," Luna narrowed her eyes at Jordan. "This is his uncle's house. Asher can kick you out. You cannot kick him out. Got it?"

He held his hands up defensively. "Got it."

"And you!" Luna pointed at Asher. "If I don't answer the door. Do not open it! Please, leave!"

"Got it," Asher mock saluted her. "See you."

Jordan turned to Luna with a sheepish grin. "Sorry about that. I should probably leave, too."

"I'll walk you out," she shook her head, grabbing his hand.

They stopped at the front door, Jordan left her with a short kiss on the lips. But not before making her promise that she'd turn in her essay and be a little nicer to Peter.
