After their conversation about Christmas, Spencer decided to let Remus work for the day. As much as she wanted to be with him, he wouldn't let her.
"You don't even like Fred!"
"Oh don't say that... I think he's a very nice fellow" he replied.
"Well- you don't like when I'm with him!" She exclaimed.
"In that you're right darling" he replied with a smile.
"So why can't I stay with you" she argued.
"Spencer..." he sighed. "We're together all the time love" he laughed. "You should spend some time with your friends" he smiled.
"I don't want to spend time with my friends I want to spend time with you" she replied.
"You're so stubborn" he laughed. "I wonder what it must've been like for your parents" he added chuckling.
Spencer took a step back.
Remus looked up at her, his eyes widened once he realized.
"No- I meant- that's not what-" he stuttered. "I'm sorry" he said. "I didn't mean it like that I was just-"
"Acknowledging the fact that I'm difficult" she smiled.
"No I just- I know you don't talk about them and I- you're very determined to do things your way and you refuse to do anything else. I was just- thinking how you must've been like as a little kid" he rambled on.
He stopped himself from continuing on.
"Bad joke?" He asked.
"Yeah" she replied awkwardly.
"Sorry" Remus apologized.
Spencer shrugged, "You're right though...I was determined to fight for parents when I shouldn't have" she replied.
"Fighting for people is good... you'll live with regret if you don't try" he said while walking towards her. "The 'what if's' cloud your mind" he said as he ran his hand through the air.
"Being stubborn can be a good thing," he smiled as he held her hand in his, "when you fight for the right people" he added as he kissed her cheek.
"My parents weren't the right people?" She asked pulling away.
"No I mean- I just meant-"
"Kidding," she laughed as she lightly hit his chest, "just trying to rile you up" she chuckled.
"Don't do that" he awkwardly laughed.
"Why? I love it when you ramble" she laughed.
"I don't" he smiled, "especially when it makes you pull away" he sighed.
"I do," she said as she pulled him closer by his tie and kissed him, "and I don't think I can pull away from you... you're stuck with me" she smiled, he could feel it on his lips.
"Right well I better be off now" she said pulling her face off.
"Wait just one more-"
"Nuh-uh Professor," she said with a smirk on her face, "I fought for you and you let me go" she shrugged.
She sighed, "I guess you weren't the right person" she said in fake tears.
"Oh c'mon" he laughed.
"No I understand... we weren't meant to be" she said as she wiped a fake tear from her face.
"I guess I'll settle for Fred... he doesn't push me away" she added.
He walked up to her, grabbing her face and kissed her once more.
"Mine" he said through the kiss.
She took a small step back, looking at him.
She placed her hands on his wrists before smiling.
"Yours" she replied.
"You know I'd fight for you, right?" she smiled.
"I'd fight for you too" he replied.
She smirked, "fight for me now Professor" she said pleadingly.
He laughed before kissing her once more, "have a good day darling"
"You too" she replied before leaving his classroom.
Spencer walked somewhere else before going to her own room. She stood in front of the door, the regret of knocking immediately taking over.
"Hey, it's Spencer... are you awake?" she whispered.
"and if I said no?" Snape replied.
"Well I would loiter outside and talk to the wall" she smiled to herself.
Snape opened up his door, "you're not supposed to come in- no student is supposed to come in" he remarked.
"Well I don't think Dumbledore would mind" Spencer shrugged as she went into his room.
"Why wouldn't-"
"Well this is-" Spencer tried to say but cut herself off once Snape turned to look at her.
"Not scary at all" she smiled.
"It's early" he said looking over at his clock.
"Her being a good person... and the only person there" she whispered looking around his room.
"What?" he asked in confusion.
"You asked" she said running her finger across his belongings.
It didn't click, after a few seconds of him thinking about what she could possibly be talking about. He understood.
"You do know she's-"
"Yes... horrible yada yada" she replied.
"and that there are-"
"yes-"
"would you shut up and listen you child" he argued.
She put her head down and didn't reply. She didn't want to look at him, her back was faced to him the minute she came in.
Snape sighed, "There are a multitude of people who... care for you"
"Yeah" she said rolling her eyes to herself.
He placed his hand on her shoulder reluctantly.
"Even me" he whispered, and if it was even possible he said lower "it wasn't real."
"I know" she replied softly.
"I needed to say it" he said while gripping her shoulder a bit tighter.
"and I think you needed to hear it" he replied.
She smiled to herself.
"Who told you" she asked in a whisper.
He let go of her shoulder, "No one. I overheard students, and well you were right... Lupin didn't have the guts" he sneered.
Spencer shook her head as she giggled to herself. She turned around to face him.
"I- uhm" Spencer cleared her throat.
"Thank you for... you know... yesterday" she said.
"Of course," he nodded, "I would've done that for anyone" he replied.
Spencer grinned, "prick" she whispered.
"You called this prick your-"
"Right well!" Spencer said cutting him off, "I must get going" she smiled walking towards the door.
"Later" she said.
"Goodbye- and never come again" he replied as she walked out.
"Sure, whatever" she laughed.
Well that went better than expected, Spencer thought to herself as she skipped her way back towards her room and hoping the twins would be awake.
She walked into her house- amazed at her sight.
George was making breakfast.
"Hey" she said giggling.
"You're cooking" she said walking up to him.
"That I am" he smiled as Spencer hopped onto her counter.
George walked up to her and placed her hands beside her thighs.
Spencer giggled.
George's smile went away once he saw her face, "Your-"
"Meltdown in the forest" she laughed.
"Are you-"
"No" she said looking away. "I'm not ever," she smiled, "but I have you guys and... that's all I need" she said looking over at what he took out of her fridge.
"What's cooking good looking" she joked as she turned to face him.
"Now now Spencer- flirting is a you and Fred thing" he laughed. "But if you must know- your basic American breakfast" he smiled while walking back to the stove.
"I don't have bacon" she laughed.
"I nicked some from the kitchen" he grinned.
"I'm starting to think I've picked the wrong twin" she joked.
"How could you Spencer! With my own brother" Spencer heard Fred say as he walked into her kitchen.
"I'm sorry Fred" he said putting her head down. "I didn't intend for you to find out like this" she shook her head.
"But I feel like I must tell you-" she whispered before placing a hand on her stomach and looking up at him.
"It's yours" she smiled.
"Merlin, I'm a father" he said walking up to her. He placed a hand on her stomach smiling, he then turned to look at George.
"I'm going to be a father!" he smiled.
He looked back at Spencer smiling, "Moms going to go mental" he laughed.
Spencer laughed, "and scene" she said half bowing in her stance.
"You guys are weird" George said.
They all started laughing.
"Oh god- could you imagine me with children" she laughed.
Fred smiled, "you'd be a great mother" he replied.
"Yeah- you practically take care of us, Harry, and Hermione" George chuckled.
Spencer shook her head, "I'd be a terrible mother" she giggled.
"You'd be a great one" Fred smiled.
"Not for a long time" she chuckled.
"Not for a long long long time" she added.
They laughed.
"Breakfast is served"
George chuckled as he placed the plates on her table.
"What would you name your kid?" George asked as they all sat down.
"I like the name Maxine- Max for short" Spencer shrugged.
"And if it's a boy you can name him after me" Fred laughed.
"Sure" Spencer laughed. "Frederic your uncle Frederic is here!" she fake yelled.
"Fine fine no little Fred I guess" he chuckled.
"Samuél is a nice name for a boy" Spencer mentioned. "Sam for you guys" she joked.
"I can say Samuél" George laughed.
"Sammy" Fred said nodding.
"Sammy during his childhood, Sam for his rebellious teen years" she laughed.
"What about you guys?" she asked eating a piece of bacon.
"Well I'm assuming Spencer is out of the running?" Fred asked with a chuckle.
"Definitely- I am the one and only" she joked. "Unless of course I meet my demise young- then you can name your child after me" she laughed.
They didn't.
"Joke" she said awkwardly.
Fred smiled before lightly chuckling, "right" he replied.
Spencer cleared her throat, "sorry" she said awkwardly.
"How's the food?" George asked breaking the tension between Fred and Spencer.
"Good- thank you" Spencer said smiling at him.
"So what are we doing today?" Spencer asked.
"We have quidditch practice later today... remember" Fred answered.
"Fuck I forgot about that" Spencer groaned.
"You think I could skip? I have after all suffered a very traumatic event" she said putting her index finger up.
They laughed at her remark.
"Maybe practice but not the game" Fred shrugged.
"I'll talk to McGonagall" Spencer nodded.
──────⊱⁜⊰──────
"Good morning" Spencer smiled.
"Good morning Spencer, how are you?" she asked.
"I'm well thank you" Spencer said while sitting down.
McGonagall gave her a look.
"I'm doing my best" she shrugged with a smile.
"I actually wanted to talk to you about quidditch practice this afternoon, I'm not feeling well" she admitted while putting her head down.
"Take the time you need Spencer" she smiled at her.
Spencer looked up and thanked her.
"May I ask you- how are things going with Professor Lupin?" She asked.
"Very well- I like working with him" Spencer smiled.
"and have you thought about your post Hogwarts plans?" she questioned.
"I'm not so sure of them myself" Spencer admitted. "I've been thinking of..."
"Yes?" she questioned.
"becoming an Auror" she said in a whisper.
"An Auror!" McGonagall repeated.
"Spencer-"
"I know-"
"I don't think you do" she replied shaking her head.
"Professor"
"Spencer the danger-"
"These are dangerous times" she replied calmly.
McGonagall didn't reply. Spencer wasn't lying, these were dangerous times.
"I have the marks- I'll no less than Exceeds Expectations you know this" Spencer commented.
"Not in defense" she murmured.
"Not cool" Spencer said shaking her head with a grin. "I'll get there okay" she confirmed. "You know I will" Spencer added.
"Anyway... I've just been thinking about it. I've also been thinking about your proposal" she smiled.
McGonagall's head perked up with a smile.
"Have you now?" she asked.
"I have" Spencer said nodding her head.
"and?" McGonagall asked.
"Well I've been thinking about it" she giggled. "No but seriously," Spencer said clearing her throat, "I like working with the students" she smiled. "But I could also join the program" she added.
"I don't know... I've learned a lot from Professor Lupin and... you know, It's nice" she shrugged.
"Yes," McGonagall smiled, "I do know" she finished saying.
"All I'm saying is... I'm looking at my options" Spencer mentioned.
"Maybe I'll run away with Fred and we'll become delinquents-"
"Spencer!" she said holding back a laugh.
"Kidding," she chuckled. "I'll probably end up going to Egypt with Bill and become a housewif-"
"You will do no such thing!" McGonagall argued.
Spencer went back in her chair a little, surprised at her volume.
She chuckled before saying, "It was a joke."
"Not a good one" McGonagall said shaking her head.
Spencer giggled. McGonagall smiled.
"So do you have a date for the Christmas Ball?" she asked.
"Oh," Spencer said remembering the dance, "I don't think I'm going" she smiled.
"Well why not?" she inquired.
"I don't know" she shrugged. "Kinda pointless of me to buy a gown and only wear it once" she giggled.
McGonnagall smiled, until she realized why Spencer said that.
She would be buying herself the dress, and sure she had money... but Spencer needed to save it for after Hogwarts.
If there was a promise she was going to keep, it's the one she made at the beginning of the year.
She was not going back to that house.
"Spencer-"
"It's okay" she laughed, "dances aren't my thing anyway" she shrugged.
"Who knows... maybe I'll spend it with Professor Lupin working" Spencer joked.
"Ah yes... outings don't seem to be his thing either" McGonnagall laughed. "Very well then" she smiled at Spencer while getting up and heading towards the door.
"I'll see you soon" she smiled.
"See you later Professor" Spencer replied as she walked out of her office and walked into the library, knowing that's exactly where Hermione would be on a Saturday.
Spencer walked up to the table where Hermione was reading, waiting for her to pick her head up.
"Well you know how to make a girl wait" Spencer said softly with a smile after five minutes passed.
Hermione looked up surprised to see Spencer there, "sorry" she whispered while placing her finger on the page she was on and closing the book.
Spencer shook her head with a smile, "It's okay" she laughed.
"What are you reading?" Spencer asked.
"Oh um-" Hermione said but Spencer took the book from the girls hands.
"Novikov?" Spencer questioned while looking over the page she was on.
"Light reading?" Spencer asked with a chuckle.
"I completed my homework yesterday" Hermione replied while looking out of the window.
Spencer smiled, "of course you did" she said while handing the book back.
"So," Hermione smiled, "how are you?" she asked.
Spencer looked at Hermione before answering, Hermione turned to face her.
"Sorry I- I didn't see" Hermione stuttered.
Spencer giggled, "kind of pointless of me to ask, is it not? considering everything" Hermione joined in the laugher.
"I should get a therapist" Spencer commented.
"Yeah, 'hey I'm a witch and there's a wardrobe that brings to life my biggest fear' they'll send you to the psych ward before you could say Riddikulus" Hermione said while continuing to laugh.
"Ladies might I remind you you're in a library" Spencer heard from behind her.
Hermione stopped laughing and sat straighter.
"Sorry professor" Hermione said trying not to giggle.
Spencer turned around to face him, "Hello professor"
"Spencer, Hermione" Remus said with a nod.
Spencer got up and faced Hermione, "Sorry I bothered your reading session" she smiled.
Hermione shook her head, "not a bother" she smiled. "See you later?" Hermione asked.
Spencer nodded.
"Fancy a walk Professor?" Spencer asked Remus with a smile.
"Sure," he replied, "goodbye Hermione" he said.
Hermione tried not to giggle, "Goodbye Professor"
Spencer walked out of the library and Remus followed.
"I didn't see you at breakfast" Remus noted.
"George cooked" Spencer replied with a smile.
"Ah" he replied with a nod.
"Anyway I wanted you to feel guilty for this morning" she giggled.
"Trust me, I do" he laughed.
"Don't," she smiled, "I'm over it now" she shrugged.
Remus stopped walking, "I think we're talking about two different things?" he asked.
"You kicking me out" Spencer replied.
Remus shook his head, "my joke" he answered.
"Oh," Spencer giggled, "I got over that the minute you said it" she laughed.
She walked closer to him, "like I said... you're stuck with me, even if I have to put up with your bad jokes and flirting" she smiled.
"Hey," he chuckled, "I'm not that bad" he replied, Spencer giggled.
Remus grinned, "there's no one else I'd rather be stuck with anyway" he replied.
He reached over to grab her hand and intertwined their fingers together.
She looked at their hands touching.
"Remus?" she asked softly.
"Mmh" he answered.
She looked up at him, she studied his face, his features, him.
She smiled.
"Nothing" she said shaking her head. "Let's go" she said while turning around and continuing to walk.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"My room," she replied, "I wanna cuddle" she smiled at him.
"Cuddling it is" he replied as they walked to her room.
They changed and got on Spencer's bed, hugging each other tightly. This time however instead of Spencer's head being on Remus' chest and him looking up at the ceiling, they held each other's body.
Their feet on top of each other, Remus' arms around the girl he cared about most in the world... the moment was too perfect.
"Not that I don't love this... but isn't there quidditch practice going on right about now?" he asked as he ran his hand through her hair.
"Yeah, I got excused" she answered as she breathed him in.
He shook his head with a grin.
"I talked with McGonagall earlier today" Spencer said.
"Yeah? what about?" he asked.
"Post Hogwarts plans" she replied.
"Oh?" he said questioningly.
"Yeah" she said.
She stared at their reflection in her mirror.
"It just made me think about... us" she said while playing with his feet.
"and what do you think?" he asked, unknowingly hugging her tighter.
Spencer smiled as she took her head out of the crook of his neck.
"What do you think?" she asked.
"I don't want to hold you back" he said while taking a strand of hair out of her face.
"If you decide after Hogwarts you don't want to... continue this then I understand" he replied.
"and if I do? want to continue this?" she asked.
"then I'll let you" he said while kissing her.
"let me" she smiled through the kiss.
"after all," she said while pulling her face back, "we might end up working together" she replied smiling.
"oh?" he said faking his questioning tone.
"C'mon, I know McGonagall spoke to you about this" she giggled, he nodded his head.
"and I think you might break the year curse" she said while bopping his nose with her index finger.
"and if I don't?" he asked.
Spencer sighed as he asked that question and looked away, "then maybe I'll become an Auror" she said while placing her index finger on his jaw so he could face her.
"Spencer-"
"Not because of you" she laughed. "I'm looking at my options" she shrugged.
"Still-"
"Save it, I already talked to McGonagall about it" she giggled. "You don't want to hold me back? Then let me make my own decisions."
"You're a factor sure but," she said while kissing him, "I'll support you" he said cutting her off.
"Whatever you decide," he smiled, "even if you're not with me... you'll have my support" he added.
"Trust me," she said while kissing him one more time and resting her head on the crook of his neck, "I want to be with you" she replied.
"as I darling," he whispered, "as I" he repeated.
"Remus?" Spencer asked.
"Yeah" he replied.
"Are you going to chaperone the Ball?" she asked.
"I haven't signed up" he said questioningly.
"Are you going to?" she asked.
"Are you going?" he asked.
She shook her head reluctantly.
"Then no" he replied smiling to himself.
Honestly, he was dreading to see her show up with a date.
"Are you saying no because I'm not going?" she asked softly.
"Yes" he replied, "because that means we get to spend another night together" he said as he kissed her cheek, "also fancy dances aren't really my thing" he added.
"but we can move the furniture in the living room so we can dance" he whispered.
"Mmm" she said smiling to herself.
The two of them ended up napping together until Spencer woke up. She flipped over to face him and smiled to herself.
"So are we going to talk or what?" Spencer heard from behind her, she rolled her eyes.
Slowly she got out of the bed and walked to her kitchen.
"I wasn't even thinking about you" she replied.
"I was thinking about you" Emily said.
"I don't like that"
"That I was thinking about you?"
"That you can show up whenever you like!" Spencer exclaimed. She heard Remus move around her bed.
"Are you going to apologize?" Spencer whispered.
"You threw shit at me-"
"You're a ghost!" she whisper-yelled.
Emily sighed, "Fine, I'm sorry" she said.
"Do you even know what for?" Spencer asked while crossing her hands.
"Spencer, I'm just looking out for you" Emily replied.
"You don't need to- I'm old enough to make my own decisions okay? I'm not 15, It's not the same and quite frankly it's insulting to him to insinuate that it is" Spencer whispered.
"Spencer, I was just saying-"
"Yeah- one minute you're all 'I see the way he looks at you and you at him' and the next you're 'he's a professor-"
"because he is" Emily cut her off. "I was thinking about Addi-" Emily replied.
Spencer scoffed, "don't, I barely even think of her" she said while rolling her eyes and opening her fridge.
"You understand where-"
"Yes and I'm telling you it's not" Spencer cut her off and grabbed a water bottle. "I mean this guy carries chocolate in his pocket Emily... they are not the same" Spencer replied.
"Is this because you weren't there?" Spencer asked.
Emily looked the other way.
"I don't think that you could've done anything" Spencer admitted.
"You let your guard down because of me... cause and effect. My death, her-"
"O-kayyy" Spencer said cutting Emily off. "Don't need to talk about it, don't want to. We're not fighting about her, we're fighting about you insulting my boyfriend" Spencer replied.
"Can you blame me for looking out for you?" Emily asked.
"I can blame your wording... so don't ever compare them again" Spencer answered.
"and- and stop throwing it at me okay? I get we haven't talked honestly, I do, but I'm sick and tired of being reminded of something I'd rather forget" Spencer said.
Emily turned around to face her. "I'm sorry for insulting Remus" she said.
"I'm sorry for throwing objects at you" Spencer replied, Emily smiled.
"I just want you to be Happy" she whispered.
"I am" Spencer replied, "I really am Em" she added.
"I can see that now" Emily said.
Spencer smiled, "I'm going back to bed now, with the man that makes me very happy" she said.
"Okay I get it- I won't say anything anymore about you two" Emily replied.
"Bye" Spencer said as she walked out of the kitchen and into her room, she was quickly stopped once she heard a knock on her door.
She walked over and opened it... and was surprised at the person standing before her.
"Abigail... hi" Spencer spoke.
"Hey... sorry to bother you but, I was wondering if you were going to Hogsmeade tomorrow?" she asked.
"Oh I- I'm-"
"Sorry, I'm- I know this is last minute and you're probably going with Fred- I should just-" Abigail stopped talking and looked at Spencer. Her face reddened but she smiled at Spencer before walking away.
"Abby wait-" Spencer said as she stepped out and called her back.
"I need to come back early. Is that okay?" Spencer asked.
"Totally!" Abigail exclaimed. "I mean yeah, cool" she said calming herself down.
"Cool" Spencer replied. "We can talk about defense and what's confusing while we're at it" Spencer smiled.
Abigail nodded, "I'll see you tomorrow Spence"
"Later Abby" Spencer smiled.
"Oh and- nice sweater" Abigail commented before walking away.
"Thanks" Spencer replied, looking at Remus' sweater she was wearing. She grinned before walking back inside.
"You know she just asked you out, right?" Spencer heard Emily say from her couch.
"She didn't, we're just hanging out" Spencer replied.
"Totally!" Emily said mocking Abigail.
"I said goodbye didn't I?" Spencer said.
"Ugh, fine" Emily said as she disappeared.
