{Y/N's POV}
It's December 31st. I knew what that meant. It was Tom's birthday. He was currently out looking for Horcruxes. I doubted the fact that he knew it was his birthday since he was always out and busy.
"I should get him a last minute gift," I said to myself.
I hopped out of bed and got ready for the day. I tied my hair up and wore a plain outfit that wouldn't attract attention since I was going to be in Diagon Alley again. Once I perfected myself, I grabbed a quill and some ink. I looked around for a document and found some in his drawer.

I got bored so I'll be out for a bit. Don't worry, I won't be gone long. I'll be back soon, you won't even notice. I love you.

I grabbed my cloak and wand. I closed my eyes and imagined Diagon Alley. The small buildings and the noisy animals at Penelopses' Pets and More. I imagined the crowded street and the candy shop that was always full of young children. The bakeries' that sold fresh bread and desserts.
I opened my eyes and found myself in front of Ollivander's wand shop. I had no business there, so I turned around and walked around, scrolling for a gift. I remembered to make sure to buy a cake for Tom as well. It was hard to believe we were going to be seventeen.
It felt like yesterday when Tom had made the snake bite Jeremiah and when we'd snuck in Ms. Feather's room to steal her jewelry. We sold her jewelry and had used the cash to buy more books and snacks since we weren't allowed to have snacks back at the orphanage.
I came upon Penelopes' Pets and More and went inside. At the counter, I heard Penelope speak.
"Welcome to Penelopes' Pets and More. Are you looking for a certain animal?" she asked me.
"No, I'm just looking around for a bit," I said.
She nodded and went back to taking notes on a creature in a cage. The creature was small. About a foot or so. It looked like a red panda and sloth mixed. I had never seen the creature before, but I also didn't take interest in it. I didn't want to be gone long as Tom could become suspicious and come look for me. That would ruin the surprise.
I went to the back and saw various creatures. From big to small, black to white, ugly to hideous, and graceful to lazy, there were too many to choose from. I knew Tom had a simple, but elegant taste.
I came upon a snake. Its jet-black scales glittered.
"A female venomous snake found in Indonesia," I read the tag under the cage.
The snake hissed at me. "I think Tom will like you," I said and carefully grabbed the cage.
I walked up to the counter and set the cage down.
"I'd like to purchase her, please," I told Penelope.
Her eyes widened.
"Are you sure? She's had many buyers, but has been returned several times due to accidents," Penelope warned.
I smile. "I'm sure."
Penelope nodded. "Ok, if you say so."
Once I purchased the snake, I walked around a bit more to look for a cake. My senses brought me to a small bakery. Yes, out of all of the divine and large bakeries, I went to a small one. Besides, it was just going to be Tom and I so I remembered to buy a small cake.
"Welcome to Belinghams' Bakes," yelled a man from the back door.
"Hello," I replied sweetly and continued looking around. There were many cakes, but I didn't know which one to get Tom. He didn't like things too simple or too extra.
Perhaps a plain vanilla cake? I thought.
All of the cakes were displayed by color and flavor. I went to the vanilla cakes and saw a small black cake. Not too simple or elegant. Perfect.

I walked up to the paying counter to purchase the cake. I saw a young couple and couldn't help but overhear on their conversation.
"Oh, honey, come look at this!" I heard a young woman call her boyfriend.
A handsome young man walked over to her.
"Isn't this cake perfect?" she asked, pointing to a two-layer elegant white cake. It looked expensive. It was decorated with traditional red roses and a tiara at the top. I realized it was a wedding cake.
"Yes, it is," her fiancé agreed. He looked at the price tag and his eyes widened.
"It's... pretty expensive, love," he told her.
The young woman looked at the price.
"Oh, well. It's ok, we are on a budget. Come on, lets go-"
"No, it's ok. I want this wedding to be perfect for us," the man interrupted her. "We're going to get this cake."
Her smile reluctantly returned.
"Ok," she said and kissed him.
"I love you so much," he said to her.
I looked away before I got caught watching.
I couldn't help but imagine my future wedding. I started to play out a love scenario in my head. About my future kids and stuff, but... that was only if Tom even wanted children

Everything was perfectly set up in the Slytherin common room. Tom's new pet was in her cage beside the couch. I couldn't wait to see Tom's reaction.
Is he going to be surprised or mad that I spent my money on a one-time thing? Meh, whatever. I thought to myself.
There was a bright green flash. In front of me, was Tom. His eyes widened.
"Surprise!" I shouted and did a little jump. "Happy birthday, Tommy."
He looked confused. I noticed something different about him. His eyes had a slight red glow and his skin seemed paler than before.
"What's this?" he asked.
"Well, you've never had a real birthday experience before," I explained. "So, I decided to give you one. A small one though."
"We have had a birthday surprise for me before, Y/Nie," he said.
"A slice of bread and moving out of a room of fifteen kids doesn't count," I said.
Tom nodded. "I suppose you're right. Thank you, love."
I smiled at him. "You're welcome."
He walked over to me and his foot accidentally kicked the cage a bit. The snake hissed at having to be awakened.
"What's this?" he asked me.
"Your birthday gift," I replied.
He carried the cage and sat down next to me.
"She's a beaut'," he said. "But she can't replace you." He gave me a small kiss, giving me butterflies.
"What are you going to name her?" I asked.
Tom thought for a few seconds. "Nagini."
"Nagini," I repeated. "I like it."
He let her out of the cage and she wrapped herself around his arm.
I saw Tom's eyes flashed red for a second.
"Are you ok, Tom?" I asked.
He let Nagini slither away to explore.
"Yes. Making Horcruxes is a real pain, but I can deal with it," he said.
"Oh... you made a Horcrux already?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"Not a. Three," he said.
My eyes widened. "Already?"
I was supposed to prevent the prophecy from beginning, but it was too late now. Why am I surprised though? After all, I did agree to rule with him. As long as Lily is in hiding with my helf, he'll never be able to find her.
"So... what are they?" I asked.
"Your ring, my mothers' ring, and my Journal you gave me," he said.
(Yes, I'm aware he had different Horcruxes but it's going to change)
"You mean diary?" I asked.
"No, journal."
"Diary."
"Journal."
"Diary," I said laughing.
"Journal."
"Journal," I said, tricking him.
"Diary," he said.
"Ok, if you say so," I said. "Diary it is."
"What?" He groaned. "Ok, it doesn't even matter," he said.
"Tom Marvolo Riddle's Diary" I said and kissed him.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. When I first started this series, I wrote 1-12 chapters on the first day then another few on the second. It's taking me a while now, but I'm hoping you still follow and vote. <3
