「 21:12 — YOUR APARTMENT 」
you set down the plates of
food you made for yourself including
your roommates on your chabudai.
a soft sigh releases from your lips
as you made your way down to yachi's
room and lightly knocked on the door.
yachi hitoka
"come in!"
you opened the door and leaned
against the door frame. yachi looked
up from her designs that she was working
on from her laptop and smiled
brightly once seeing you.
yachi hitoka
"what's up?"
"i made dinner."
you smiled, stuffing your hands
in the pockets of your sweatpants.
yachi hitoka
"what is it?"
yachi hitoka
"it smells good!"
"thaaanks."
"it's curry."
her face grimaced and you
laughed knowing the specific type
of curry that she liked.
yachi hitoka
"what type of curry?"
yachi hitoka
"because you know i—"
"yes, yes, i remember, toka."
"it's katsu curry."
yachi hitoka
"yay!"
yachi hitoka
"i'll be out soon!"
you nodded with a small
smile and made your next
stop to hinata's door.
"shoyo!"
your fist hit on the door, almost
making a banging sound.
"are you still getting
dressed?! or—"
the door swung open revealing
hinata in just his boxers and putting
on a shirt. you groaned, flicking
him in the forehead.
hinata shoyo
"jeez! ow! what the
heck was that for?!"
"your pants, idiot!"
"i wouldn't have cared if
you didn't wear a shirt,
but wear some pants!"
hinata shoyo
"i was going to! but you
knocked on the door!"
"i was literally asking
you if you were still
getting dressed!"
hinata shoyo
"that— ok, that doesn't matter!"
hinata shoyo
"what do you want?"
he huffs, leaving you by the
door to go into his closet and find
some pants to wear.
"uhh, i made dinner."
"it's katsu curry."
he doesn't respond and grunts, trying
to quickly fit into his sweats. you roll
your eyes watching him struggle
and said nothing.
once he's done, he smiles at you
and you have no choice but to do
the same. it was frustrating how pure
and contagious his smile was, but
it allowed some form of serotonin
to rush through you.

"nice!"

"i was starting to get
hungry anyways."
he closes the door to his room
and you follow behind him to the
dining room.
"you're acting like i
don't feed you every
time you come home
from practice."
hinata shoyo
"you do! it's just takeout
from your job."
you sigh, sitting down on the matted
carpet in front of the table with shoyo
sitting to the left of you.
"yeah, because you always
come over after practice."
"i'm not gonna make
something when i could
just get it from work."
he grabbed the chopsticks that
were set beside his plate and you
furrowed your eyebrows before
smacking his hand.

"ow! stop hitting me!"
"don't eat without hitoka!"
yachi hitoka
"you were gonna eat without me?!"
the both of you whipped your
head towards the small girl and
she hit shoyo on his back before
sitting to your right side.
shoyo hissed loudly, causing a
laugh to erupt from both you
and yachi.
hinata shoyo
"i'm gonna move out if
you guys keep hitting me!"
"move in with who?!"
he shaped his lips into a thin line
and was clearly pondering in thought.
you wanted to laugh, but his eyes lit up
as if he thought of something.

"oikawa-san!"
yachi laughed out loud
and you could only snicker.
"you're gonna move from tokyo
allll the way to miyagi?"
yachi hitoka
"pleaseee and doesn't he live
with iwaizumi-san and... some
others? i forgot."
hinata shoyo
"if it's to get away from the
abuse i go through here then
i'll leave!"
"sure, buddy."
"go ahead and eat!"
you laugh, and the three of you
silently clap you hands together
saying a small, 'thank you
for the food'.
"anywho, i heard he's like
changing locations soon."
yachi hitoka
"really?! where?"
hinata shoyo
"argentina! well— i
think... i'll probably
ask him."
"that's cool."
"i don't really keep in
contact anymore."
"maybe it's study abroad for
him to train with a new team."
hinata shoyo
"yeah! i think it'll be
really cool for him!"
hinata shoyo
"i can tell in highschool he
worked really hard to make
it to nationals, but he never
got the chance."
hinata shoyo
"so i'm sure this is a big step for him."
"ugh, i totally would have played
volleyball if i had the talent."
yachi hitoka
"really? i don't think i could have."
yachi hitoka
"being at my height in highschool
would have been scary for me to
be around all the different tall women."
yachi hitoka
"like, shoyo you remember
that barbecue, right?"
shoyo nodded, his mouth full
of rice. he swallowed it down
before speaking up.
hinata shoyo
"yeah. the tokyo training camp?"
yachi hitoka
"yeah! seeing everybody
there was so scary! i was
like, four eleven around
six foot plus players."
yachi hitoka
"without shimizu i probably
would have been done for."
she giggled, drinking from
her water bottle. you did the
same with a small smile.
yachi hitoka
"volleyballs cool and it feels nice
to be part of the experience when
knowing that your team wins, but...
i think it's a totally different experience
when you're the one playing."
you laughed, agreeing with a subtle
nod. the three of you ate in silence until
you remembered something you
wanted to tell them.
"i forgot to tell you guys, but
some guy in my class wanted
to add me to a groupchat, but i
caught him talking shit about
me behind my back."
yachi hitoka
"oh? do you want me
to beat him up for you?
who was it?"
"uhh, not sure."
"but he's in my calculus and
psych class, plus i saw him
today at the store when you
two asked me to get you
some stuff."
yachi hitoka
"go find out his name!
i need to know who this
mysterious guy is."
you chuckled, rushing to get your
phone and came back to the table, looking
at the remnants of the groupchat history
before you left.
"okay, so it was actually a
group of them, but he was
the main one who talked
shit."
"uhh, suna rintarou?"
shoyo choked on his food and you
were quick to open his water bottle
and pass it to him.
hinata shoyo
"whew! thank you!"
"stop eating so fast, shosho."
hinata shoyo
"i wasn't! it's just— you
said it was suna-san and
i was shocked."
yachi hitoka
"yeahhh... i'm a little
shocked myself."
you raise a brow.
"you both know him?"
hinata shoyo
"yeah! he's on my team
and we played against each
other in highschool!"
"whoa, small world."
"he's an asshole though... he
said i looked like a horse."
"he's such a prissy pick me
boy. i wanna hit him."
yachi hitoka
"you should go to sho's
practices one day and just
visit. maybe it'll give you
a chance to beat him up."
you laughed with a shake
of your head.
"i think his practice ends
before my shift soooo...."
"sho, you should bring
your team to my job right
after practice tomorrow ."
"i'll probably get along with
your other teammates better."
