Third Person POV

It was Mother's Day in the Manhattan Lodge, and for the first time in a while, Davey and Les weren't the only ones making a gift.

It was chaos inside the Lodge, with things like this being said;

(A/N, is it bad if I want people to guess who said what lol?)

"Does anyone have the pink?!"

"Stop throwing shoes around!"

"Sorry! It flipped off of my foot!"

"Has anyone seen my glasses?"

"Ooooh, a birdy!"

"Finch! Look! It's a Finch!"

"A wild Finch."

"I'm so lucky to have you..."

"I might actually throw up."

"What if she doesn't like it?"

"Guys! We're stressing Davey out!"

"We're always stressing Davey out. What's the point of that previous statement?"

"Do you even know what that means?"

"Mush! Put a shirt on or Blink's going to pass out from you being so 'hot'!"

"I lost my shoe again!"

"Buttons! Look Al's left bunk side, under the book."

"You taught him that, you idiot."

"I'm so tired..."

"Romeo, why do you keep calling Specs 'Juliet'?"

"Really? Are you seriously asking that?"

"Blink passed out!"

"I put a shirt on!"

"It was from the fact that we accidentally hit him over the head with something."

"You did what?!" x2 (Jack and Davey)

"The writing is done!"

"A cat!"

"Specs, I want hugsies. Please."

"Mike, Ike, switch hats please.

"Quit reminding me that I'm the youngest! I get it! I'm younger than all of you!"

"...that's what being the youngest means, yes."

"Aww, Elmer, the flower crown looks beautiful."

"I might actually smack someone."

"That's no different from Race threatening to high-kick someone."

"Albert! Continue flirting with me and I'll high-kick you! I'm not wearing your clothes!"

"But you'd look cute!"

"See?"

"Point gotten..."

"I hate you all!

"I'm sorry that Jack is the only actually good and artistic one!"

"Aww, they said something nice about me. My kids are all growing up."

*flips him off x6*

"Eliza's here..." Les mumbles, standing in the doorway and playing with his fingers.

Every boy in the room stops in their tracks.

Jack was helping Crutchie, who was putting a flowery 'I love you, mom' sign on his crutch.

Race was about to smack Albert, their faces pretty close and their noses almost touching.

Mike was on Ike's back.

JoJo and Elmer had been giggling at random cat that was now in the Lodge. Elmer was wearing the flower crown that he made for Eliza.

Buttons poked himself with a needle while sowing, so Henry was helping him bandage his finger.

Romeo was hugging Specs, who was trying to tie his shoe.

Mush and Finch were trying to wake up Blink.

Tommy boy was trying to hide under his pillow.

Boots was in the corner, just watching and eating popcorn that they didn't know they had.

Davey was half facepalming, half trying to control this mess.

Some of the boys start screaming at Les' statement.

"We're not ready!"

"Whyyyyyy, Eliza?!"

"I don't want to die!"

"I didn't do anything! It wasn't me!"

"Shut up and listen!" Davey shouts.

Everyone stops, looking at him in silence.

"Oh my God." Davey whispers, his eyes widening. "Was that too mean? I'm so sorry."

Jack rubs his back. "You're alright, Davey." He whispers. "That was good." He assures his boyfriend.

The other boys chorus an agreement, some even clapping for him because he never has that much confidence.

Davey blushes a bit. "Okay..." he starts. "Race, Albert, Finch, you're on cookies."

The three boys nod.

Race smacks Albert with his hat, before walking off.

"Elmer," Davey stops. "When did we get a cat?" He asks, confused.

"A cat?!" Romeo shrieks. "I'm allergic!"

JoJo places the cat on Romeo.

The cat snuggles up against Romeo.

A rash broke out on Romeo's skin.

Romeo smiles. "It's cute," he places it on the ground. "But I'm still allergic."

"Specs," Davey starts, facepalming. "Go help your boyfriend." He looks at Blink, cringing a bit. "And maybe Blink while you're at it."

Specs nods, helping Romeo stand up and walk to the bathroom.

"JoJo, Elmer, you can give Eliza the flower crown."

The two boys nod.

"Tommy boy, Mike, Ike, you guys are on card duty."

They nod.

"Crutchie, show Eliza your sign and just stay there, being adorable like you always are."

Crutchie beams at him.

"Henry, Blink, when he's okay, and Mush, you're on soda. Boots, you can help them."

The three boys nod.

"Buttons, Les and Lucky can help you give her the blanket you made her."

Buttons nods, smiling at Les and Lucky.

Les and Lucky grin, high-fiving each other.

"Let's go!" Davey calls.

They walk out of the Lodge.

There sat Eliza.

Jack had sat Eliza down on a crate.

Eliza looked really confused.

First, Crutchie showed her the sign on his crutch and Elmer gave her the flower crown.

He and JoJo placed it on her head together.

Eliza touches the flower crown on her head softly.

She smiles. "Thank you guys. This is really sweet." She chuckles a bit. "Is this why you asked my favorite colors and favorite flowers?" She asks.

JoJo and Elmer nod.

Crutchie grins at her, giving her a thumbs up.

"Race and Ro helped pay for the flowers." Elmer informs Eliza, scratching the back of the head. "I couldn't afford it and JoJo didn't have enough."

Eliza smiles. "That's okay, Elmer." She tells him softly. "I love it anyway. Thank you all."

"We're not done." Romeo and JoJo grin cheekily in unison.

Eliza shoots Jack a wide-eyed look.

Jack chuckles a bit. "We don't have mothers, other than Davey and Les. You've been the closest to a mother we've all had in a while." He reminds her, his voice having a certain gentleness that she had heard Jack use with the littles, Race, and some other boys at different times.

Eliza smiles softly.

Race, Finch, Albert, Henry, and Boots step forward.

Mush stood with Blink and Romeo.

Specs had helped Romeo and Blink, but Blink was still pretty out of it.

"Henry," Race starts. "Is the wonderful cook of the Lodge-"

Henry cuts him off, shoving his arm slightly. "You're a wonderful cook as well, Race." He tells him.

Race smiles. "Anyway, we banded together to make some cookies and bought some soda from Jacobi's for you." He informs Eliza.

Eliza smiles as she was handed a glass.

Boots, Albert, and Finch had passed out soda to all of the other boys.

Eliza smiles. "Thank you, boys."

Race and Henry nod.

Jack and Davey hold hands, raising their glasses. "To Eliza!" They exclaim, grinning.

Eliza chuckles.

The other Newsies put their glasses up, chorusing it.

Buttons comes over, holding a blanket.

Les and Lucky stood on either side of him, holding the other sides.

Eliza smiles.

"It's a blanket." Buttons starts nervously.

"I can see that." Eliza chuckles softly.

The boys, including Buttons, laugh a bit.

"It has our names on it." Buttons informs her.

"There's mine!" Lucky exclaims, pointing to his.

His was in green.

The blanket was white and each of the boys had a different color for their name.

It made Eliza wonder how they found so many colors.

Lastly, Tommy boy and the Guzman twins came over with a card.

There were a lot of pages and a lot of notes on it.

Jack's was on the front, as he was the best artist in the group.

Eliza felt tears fill her eyes.

Eliza hugs each of the Newsies, one-by-one.

Except for Les and Lucky.

They decided that they really wanted to hug her together.

She didn't stop them.

"Thank you guys, so much." Eliza tells them, wiping her eyes.

"Oh no!" Elmer exclaims, eyes wide. "We made her cry!" He panics.

Eliza chuckles, along with a few boys.

"I'm okay, Elmer." Eliza tells him softly, chuckling as she wipes her eyes. "Just emotional. You're too kind."

Elmer runs over and hugs her, Lucky not far behind him.

That's how Eliza ended up in the middle of a Newsie group hug.

By the end, they were all laughing.

Everyone had joined, other than Blink and Mush, who were still standing off to the side as Blink was still pretty out of it.

"You're cute..." Blink mutters, hanging onto Mush like he was going to fall. He sounded almost drunk because of how out of it he was. "Are you single?" He asks his boyfriend.

Mush chuckles. "No." Blink's eyes dropped. "I'm dating you." He reminds him.

"Oh..." the boys start laughing. "I'm very lucky then." He mutters.

The boys start laughing harder.

"Hey!" Lucky jumps up. "I'm Lucky, not you!" He points to his chest.

Eliza chuckles as the boys start laughing harder.

Suddenly, someone started floating down from the sky.

The group looked up.

Eliza's eyes widen. "John?" She asks, confused.

John Laurence smiles warmly at her, landing gracefully on the ground.

"Eliza Hamilton," he starts. "I'm here to take you home." He informs her.

Eliza stands up, brushing her dress off.

John holds his hand out for her.

Eliza reaches out for him.

"What?" Lucky asks, his heart dropping into his stomach and tears filling his eyes.

Eliza frowns a bit, looking around all of the wide-eyed and teary eyed Newsies.

"You boys are some of the greatest things that has ever happened to me." She tells them softly. "And I'll never forget this, but it's time for me to go. This isn't my time." She states.

Some of the boys nod.

Others still looked heartbroken.

Eliza noticed Race's blue eyes glossed over.

Albert went to comfort him, but Race shook his head, trying to convince Albert that he was fine.

Eliza frowns.

Les hugs her tightly, Lucky joining a minute after.

Eliza hugged all of the Newsies, one-by-one, until Jack and Race were the only ones left.

Race bit his lip, his eyes gazing at anything that wasn't Eliza.

Jack had his arm around the younger boy.

"Come on." Jack whispers to Race. "If we don't hug her, we may never be able to." He tells him softly.

The blocks in Race's eyes broke, a tear slipping down his face.

Jack and Eliza frown.

Jack and Race slowly make their way over to Eliza, who pulls them into a tight hug.

Eliza could feel that they didn't want to let her go.

Inevitably, they had to.

"Stay safe, Mrs. Ham." Race whispers. "If your husband does anything, tell us." He finally looks Eliza in the eye.

Eliza smiles a bit. "Thanks, Racer. Remember that not being fine is acceptable and I think Jack, Crutchie, Davey, and Buttons would like your star facts." She tells him softly.

Race bites back a smile, his eyes still glossed over.

Eliza turns back to John Laurence.

"Why was I given the weird powers to get us back?" John asks, staring at his hands.

Eliza laughs a bit.

"Beats me." John shrugs, looking back up at Eliza.

She takes his hand, and they start floating.

Eliza watched some of the boys start crying.

Specs was holding Romeo close, rubbing his back as gently as he could, but also still trying to comfort him.

Lucky and Les were crying together.

Elmer was staring at Crutchie's hand that he was holding, his eyes watering.

Crutchie was about to cry.

Davey and Albert stood on their side of Jack and Race, all of their eyes glossed.

Eliza saw Jack squeeze Race's shoulder.

Blink was still clinging to Mush.

Eliza and John disappear.

Eliza woke up in her bed, her three children climbing on top of her.

Was that all a dream?

She heard her husband's soft chuckles from next to her.

"Happy Mommy's day!" She heard Phillip's excited, yet still tired, voice.

Eliza opens her eyes.

She loved her life, but she kinda missed the Newsies.

And John.

He had died only a few years before.

Her three kids had a card for her.

"Aww." She looks at her husband.

Alex smiles. "They made a card for you." He tells her, chuckling softly.

Eliza smiles. "I love it so much." She tells them as she looks at the card.

"Mama! Look!" Phillip grins up at her, pointing to his part of the card. "I drew a piano and un, deux, trios," he stops. "Uh."

"Quatre." Alex tells him.

"Quatre!" Phillip finishes, grinning.

Eliza chuckles. "I love it." She tells him.

He beams at her.

Angelica (the middle child, not the oldest Schuyler sister who's in London) was half asleep, and Alexander Jr. was blabbing along.

Eliza chuckles.

Alex presses a soft kiss to her forehead. "Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful wife." He whispers, smiling softly. "I'm sorry I'm not with you more."

Eliza smiles. "I love you." She whispers.

Alex presses a kiss to her lips. "I love you too." He whispers, his lips lingering on hers for a minute.

"Mama!" They heard Phillip shout. "Alex Jr. got daddy's quill!" He exclaims.

"How did they get down in the two seconds we were kissing?" Eliza mutters, flipping the blanket off of herself.

Alex chuckles, pulling Angelica into his arms and rocking her gently. "I don't know. I spent about three hours with them this morning to let you sleep, and I don't know how you spend all day with them." He tells her. "You really are a superhero."

Eliza smiles.

"He's trying to eat the quill!" They heard Phillip screech.

They chuckle softly.

Manhattan, New York City
1899

Jack walks to Medda's Theater.

He enters through the back.

He smiles when he sees Medda. "Good afternoon, Miss Medda." He greets.

Medda turns to face him, smiling. "Good afternoon, Jack." She greets him. "What brings you here?" She asks.

"Well, I do have to paint you a backdrop today." He tells her.

Medda chuckles. "Fair point."

"I did have a question though, before I start." Jack tells her.

Medda looks at him, curious.

"The boys and I all had this dream that Eliza Hamilton/Schuyler fell from the sky and stayed with us for about a month." Jack informs her, his eyebrows furrowed. "The dreams were all the same but no one other than us remembers. We thought it was a coincidence, but Weasel doesn't do inspection anymore." He informs her.

Medda shrugs. "I'm sorry, Jack. I don't know anything about that." She tells him.

Jack sighs. "Expected." He mutters. "That's alright. I was just asking." He responds.

He turns to start painting, throwing the new (rainbow) apron that Buttons had made him on.

Crutchie and Elmer helped him make it, and so there was a crutch, a needle and thread, and a quote in Polish on it.

(The quote is 'Family, but by choice.' except in Polish.)

It had a bunch of other things representing the other boys on it as well, but those were the biggest since they made the apron.

Race's was a pack of cards.

Specs was spectacles.

Davey's was a book.

Mike and Ike's were two (almost) identical hats.

Blink's was an eyepatch, and so on.

Medda turns to head to her dressing room.

"Oh, and Miss Medda," Jack starts.

Medda turns to face him, an eyebrow raised.

"If Race comes, just tell him where I am please." He tells her. "We were going to talk about stars and astronomy stuff." He informs Medda.

Medda smiles. "Of course."

Jack smiles.

Medda walks into her dressing room, closing the door behind her.

Eliza's flower crown, blanket, and card were in there.

Medda smiles, looking at the picture of Eliza and the Newsies. "Don't worry boys, she'll be back soon." She whispers, her smile turning into a slight smirk.
