Jesenia's POV
(This chapter mentions drinking, smoking and mild language.)
As I walk into the Great Hall the sorting ceremony had already began but luckily, I didn't miss Rhiannans sorting. Although I knew exactly what house she was going to be in I love the excitement of when someone new joins our house.
"Have I missed anything?" I say sitting in the only free seat between Blaise and Lindsey.
"A first year fell up the stairs," Blaise begun.
"And to top it off he missed the seat and landed flat on his ass, it sent the whole hall into hysterics." Theo adds from across the table.
"Poor thing must have been so embarrassed." Lindsey says causing me to start laughing but I immediately stop when Slughorn shoots me that glare us Slytherins are way too familiar with.
"And now for our exchange student from America, Rhiannan Owens." I jump to my feet and start clapping and cheering but despite everyone's eyes on me, I carry on.
"That's enough Montgomery!" McGonagall exclaims so I give Rhiannan a quick thumbs up and a smile before sitting back down.
The sorting hat didn't speak for many moments confusing many students. After a while of silence, the sorting hat finally spoke up "Hufflepuff!"
"What!" I exclaim.
"Did you seriously think little Miss America was going to get into Slytherin?" Ruby scoffs.
"They already let one in, why do you think they would have made that mistake again." Camryn says with pride, making the rest of our friends laugh.
"Shut it you filthy Mudblo-"
"Too far." Lindsey cuts me off.
"Oh come on Montgomery, you know we're joking." Ava kicks me under the table which kind of hurts due to the weight of her shoes.
"Yeah, I know." I say before turning back around to try and find Rhiannan at the Hufflepuff table but to no avail, instead I hear Hermione's conversation.
"She seems like a typical Hufflepuff, I don't know why she looks so upset." Without any hesitation I pick up a piece of cutlery from in front of me and dash it at her head.
"Don't you DARE talk about my friend like that!"
"Well done Jes." Theo congratulates me.
"She deserved it." I say finally starting on my dinner.
Once everyone had eaten, we headed down to our common room. The cold dungeon halls are still empty and dull, it's never really felt like home but as the door swings open and the smell of pure alcohol and weed comes flooding out into the corridor alongside 'You Should See Me in a Crown' by Billie Eilish it automatically becomes that little bit more welcoming.
"Feels good to be home." Mattheo says whilst walking through the entrance followed by the rest of our friends.
"Here we go." I take a deep breath and follow them in.
The common room is dimly lit, full of smoke and students sitting in their groups. Some in front of the dark bookshelves that go from floor to ceiling, some sitting around tables and of course our group sitting on the sofa in front of the fire. The same place we have always sat, no one dares to sit in our place. Scared to see what happens if they do, they choose the easy option and that's to stay away. Even the older years.
"Sit with me." I feel someone grab my wrist; I look down to find Elio looking up at me. I look to his left to find Ruby, who has attached herself to him.
"No, its fine."
"Ruby get up."
"I'm not getting u- "
"I said get up!" She obeys him and sits herself down in between Camryn and Adrian.
"So how was everyone's summer?" Elio swings his arm around me but despite me trying to bat it off, he just keeps re-placing it.
Camryn's the first one to answer, "Mum and Dad took Maxwell and I to Paris for the Majority of the summer."
"Sirius is still locked up." The whole group starts laughing.
"Are you parents still not over him getting into Gryffindor?" I ask.
"Nope." Regulus' answer set everyone off again.
"Its not funny!"
"Oh come on Jesenia, you know it is." Elio says squeezing my shoulder, I try again to shove him off but to no avail.
"Well, my summer was much better then being trapped in the house for six weeks." Draco gets up and sits himself in between Ava and Ruby throwing his arms around each of them like how Elio has done to me. "I got to spend it with my favourite girls."
"Fuck off Malfoy," Ava says pushing his arm off "You know we were only there because our fathers forced us to be." He moves his hand onto her leg. "Watch your hands!" She exclaims before moving to sit on Adrian's lap.
"So how was your summer beautiful?" I stay quite hoping that he will move on. "Jes?" He starts playing with my hair.
"It's Jesenia to you." I say finally freeing myself from his embrace and moving across the sofa and thankfully Erin sits in between us so he can't move over.
"Anyway, Matt, Léo, Elio and I finally become death eaters. Which means,"
"We're next!" The majority of our group say in sync with smirks plastered across their faces, I stay silent knowing I want no part in any of that funny business.
"So, are you going to show us your mark?" Ruby says whilst looking him up and down. "Ouch!" She yelps in pain and by the look on her face I think it has something to do with Ava.
"Come here then." Ruby gets up but is immediately pulled back down by the girl next to her. Already knowing what is about to happen I decide to make my way over to the Gryffindor common room.
As I approach the painting of a fat lady dressed in white I mutter the password hoping that it's the same as last years, "Fortuna Major."
As soon as the portrait swings open reviling a doorway, I make my way inside.
"Hey Jesenia!" Two voices say in sync as I walk in.
"Hey boys." I shoot the two ginger boys a quick smile as I carry on walking.
"Ah there she is," James says as I approach the sofa occupied by the Marauders.
"Our favourite Slytherin." Remus finishes.
"Hey guys!" I say whist lying down on the vacant sofa opposite them.
"Hey, lift you head up." Sirius comes from down the stairs and straight over to me. Once he sits down, I lay my head back down but this time onto his lap. "How did you get in here?" He says whilst brushing his hand through my hair.
"Same password as last year." I say looking up into his eyes. "So how was everyone's summer?" I say turning my head back around to face the others.
"It was good thanks, stayed at James'." Lupin says.
"Mine was alright." Alya says.
"Same, went to see my mum's family in America so that was fun." Katy adds.
"Sounds like you all had good summers." Sirius says.
"Just because you were locked in your house all summer, doesn't mean you have to be miserable about it." James says.
"I can't believe your parents still aren't over you being sorted in to Gryffindor." I say looking back up at Sirius.
"Yeah, I know. My parents can see past the fact Aoife got sorted into Gryffindor but nope not me. I would have been fine if they didn't take regulus' owl as well, at least then I would have some sort of contact with the outside world."
"So that's why you didn't write back."
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that." His hand moved from my hair to my face. "I've missed you." I sit up so that our faces are level and just centimetres from each other.
"I've missed you too." I say smiling whilst looking into his grey eyes as he looks into my Brown ones. He looks down at my lips and leans closer.
I fill something soft and plump hit the back of my head and immediately pull away now aware that we have eyes on us.
"Get a room!" Katy utters as I turn around to find the cushion that hit my head moments ago now on the floor.
"Fine." Sirius says whilst standing up, He took my hand and lead me up the stairs he had come down when I first arrived.
For the rest of the night, we sat on his bed talking about anything and everything and listened to the different records he managed to keep hidden from his parents, thankfully they were his favourite ones and as we had similar music taste neither of us were bored of the choices.
At some point we must have fallen asleep as I woke up to the feeling that someone was watching me; and as I open my eyes, I see James and Remus Staring at Sirius and I. His arm was wrapped around my waist and was in deep sleep, so not wanting to wake him I don't move.
"What the fuck!" I whisper, "Why are you looking at me as if you've never seen a girl before?"
"Well, it's rare we see one in his bed." Remus replies, returning the whisper.
"Not even you, and you two have been dating for nearly two years!" Potter adds.
"We're not dating, we're just friends."
"'Friends' Don't kiss and fall asleep in each other's beds." James replies.
"Jes?" Sirius mumbles still half asleep.
"Shh, go back to sleep." I whisper whilst stroking his long, silky, black hair.
"Or whatever that was!" Remus says.
"That's it, Both of you out!" I exclaim whilst still whispering before turning over and falling back to sleep.
