AUTHOR'S POV
Thomas woke up with Newt's body in his arms. He just lifted up his head to see Newt peacefully sleeping, his eyes closed.
"Gosh I missed waking up like this." He thought.
"Stop staring" Newt groaned, still in a sleepy voice.Thomas pushed himself away and blushed.
Thomas: I am not staring.
Newt chuckled.
Him: Yeah, right. We have been together for years. I know when you lie Thomas. Don't act like that with me. You know it's useless.
"Back to Thomas again???" Thomas rolled his eyes and stood up.
They both did. They looked at each other's awkwardly.
Thomas looked at Newt rolling his sleeping bag and putting it back in his backpack.
Thomas: So are you coming back with me today?
Newt: I don't think that's a good idea.
Thomas: Why? Why is that? You rather stay here apart from all of us than just go back to us?
Newt: If I do that, I will have to explain to everyone why I am not bloody dead!!
Thomas: Well, you can make something up if you are not comfortable enough to tell the truth. Honestly I think you better lie if you really want them to believe you. Because that time travel thing, not everyone will believe that. And they will start asking questions.
Newt: Why do you want me back so bad??
Newt asked confused.
Thomas: Because your place is down there on the beach with us! We got through hell together and it only seems fair that you enjoy our win too!
Newt sighed.
Thomas: Just take a moment to think about it okay?
Then Newt nodded.

A FEW HOURS LATER, AT THE SAFE HEAVEN...
Minho woke up by the sound of loud baggings on his door.
Gally:(mad): Minho wake up and open that godamn door!
Minho was very confused. He stood up, put his shirt on and walked to his cabin's door. When he opened it, he saw an angry Gally standing in front of him.
Minho:(confused and still sleepy): What the hell is going on Gally??
Then he saw Brenda next to him, trying to hold Gally back.
Brenda: Please Gally drop it. It happened way before we got together.
Gally:(ignoring her and continuing to talk to Minho): Where is Thomas?? Where is that bastard is????
Minho got out of his cabin and putted both of his hands on Gally's shoulders, trying to calm him down.
Him: I am not telling you until you tell me what the hell is going on and why you want to find him so bad.
Gally:(even more mad): You really want me to explain it to you?????uh???? I want to find him because he slept with my girlfriend!!!! The woman I love!!!
Brenda:(tears in her eyes): Gally please stop!! That was before we got together and that's my fault. I am the one who pressured Thomas to do it. He is still in love with Newt and doing that broke his heart. I think he feels guilty enough. There is no need for going after him Gally.
Gally:(now screaming): Yes it is!!!! Since I known Thomas, he always had been the golden boy. He arrived at the maze, he became the new favourite, everyone was following him. I have been putted aside since Thomas arrived in my life. And I won't take it!!! Not this time.
Now it was Brenda who was mad.
Her: Oh really?? Is that what is this about?? To make Thomas jealous or to win over him like a competition??? Is that what our relationship is based on??
Gally felt guilty now.
Him: No baby, it's just that for once I wanted something that Thomas didn't have. Something he didn't touched..
Brenda was about to answer when Gally saw Thomas coming back from his trip. The cabin was blocking his view so all he could see was Thomas.
He ran to him before Brenda and Minho could do something.
Thomas stopped walking when he saw Gally running to him.
Thomas:(confused): Hey Gally, is everything okay?
Before Thomas could say anything else, he felt a punch on his left cheek and fell on the ground.
He was about to hit him again when he had the surprise of his life.
Someone came placing himself between him and Thomas who was still knocked out on the ground.
"What's your bloody problem Gally?????? It seems like you didn't changed at all!!"
Gally lifted up his head and he was in shock.
Him:....Newt???
Newt looked at him with anger in his eyes. A look that Gally wished to forget.
Him:...but...but how is it possible....we...we were there....we saw that you were gone.....
Brenda and Minho arrived at the same time, also both shocked but for different reasons. Minho thought Newt wouldn't come down here. At least not yet.
Newt:(lying): That's true. I was gone, but I wasn't dead.
He paused.
Newt: I took the last strength I had in me and I went back to the W.I.C.K.E.D building. And I don't know why, but when I reached it, Teresa saw me. She hurried to get to me as fast as she could. She stayed indoors though because she knew at what stage of the virus I was. So she put the stample at the door. I took it in my hand and she guided me to know how to use it. I was fighting against that beast inside of me, but I succeeded to inject myself the cure. I then fell unconscious and when I woke up, everyone was gone and the city was burning into ashes.
Minho smiled sadly. If only Teresa did all that. Did like the lie that Newt just told them, maybe it would have been easier for Newt, Newt and Thomas would still be together and Teresa would be alive today.
Newt: And when I noticed some trucks and Jeeps, I knew it was you guys. You were doing some recon missions. So when you parked the Jeep one day to go in a building, I jumped on it and hide myself under a cover in the back waiting for you to take me here.
Minho and Brenda went to hug him. Gally was still in front of him.
Brenda:(while hugging him): We missed you so much Newt. But Thomas was the one who was missing you more. He was slowly killing himself. He refused to eat, to go outside, he just spent all his days in his cabin.
Newt hugged her back, with a sad look in his eyes processing what Brenda just told him.
Him: I have missed you too.
Minho gave him a friendly punch.
Him: Welcome home Newt.
All three of them smiled and forgot for a moment the situation that was going on between them. They heard Thomas groaning in pain.
Newt: Oh, can someone help me carrying him in his cabin so he can rest?
Minho then helped Newt to carry Thomas in his cabin. Once they arrived they put him in his bed. They got out and saw that Gally and Brenda were waiting for us.
Minho: What the hell is your problem man?
Gally: I am sorry, but I had to do it!! He slept with my girl!
Brenda: I wasn't even your girl when that happened Gally!!???
Newt: And even if you were, that doesn't give you the right to punch him!!!
Gally: She slept with your man Newt!! And you are telling me your are not even slightly mad about it???
Newt:(even more mad): What happens between me and Thomas is none of your bloody business okay??? Now I think you are just jealous because Thomas slept with her and you can't stand that!
Gally looked at Newt a bit scared. He never saw Newt being very mad at him. But now it seems like there was a first time to everything.
Newt: Are you really going to destroy the friendship you build so hardly with Thomas to a stupid fight like this? I don't see what's the problem now. Yes, Brenda and him slept together. That hurts I know. But you weren't in a relationship with her as I understood and, they don't even like each other romantically. So you need to stop that childish attitude before you loose both of them.
Brenda looked at Gally with a painful look and walked away. Minho did the same as Newt walked back to Thomas' cabin.
Gally was now feeling guilty.
Him: Guys please wait..
But no one was waiting for him. He was now alone on the sandy beach.

Thomas woke up and groaned. He looked around and realized he was in his bed.
That took him a moment, but he finally remembered that Newt was still out there probably looking for him.
He tried to get out of his bed when a calming hand glued him in place. He turned to see a Newt smiling at him.
Him: Where do you think you are going?
Thomas chuckled, shocked.
Thomas: You..you are here?? But.. but you said..
Newt: I know what I said Tommy, but I thought about what you said and you were right. My place is right here with all of you. My place is here with you.
What Newt just said made Thomas' heart melt. He smiled but then, he felt a painful sensation on his left cheek.
Thomas:(groaning): Ow... what the hell happened?
Newt: Gally punched you.
Thomas looked down on the covers who were covering his body.
Newt looked at him confused.
Newt: So that's it? No reaction? Gally just punched you!
Thomas: Actually Newt, I saw this coming. I knew when Brenda told me she loved him, right after we slept together, that he would come back for me sooner or later.
He paused.
Thomas: And I am not mad at him... I deserved it. Even though Brenda forced me to it, I shouldn't have done that. Actually after that night, I felt even more guilty to you than before. Because I broke the only secret thing we had together.
Newt could see tears falling from Thomas' face.
Him: And...and if it was you at Brenda's place, in that situation, I would have done the same thing. So I don't blame him. That just prove how much he actually loves her.
He then faced Newt with a confused puppy face.
Him: And what about you? You don't seems mad about it? What's wrong? You have every rights to be.
Newt chuckled sadly.
Newt: That would be useless to be mad at you about that Tommy. I already knew for a long time. At first when I learned it in that book, yes, to be honest I was really mad. But then I realized that you didn't even knew if I was in fact coming back to you. What were you supposed to do then? Waiting for me all your life and be alone if I wouldn't have shown up? That would have been so selfish coming from me.
He paused knowing that what he would say next would bring back some painful memories.
Him: When I wrote you in that letter that you deserved to be happy I meant it. Even if it wasn't with me. You deserve everything that is best in this world Tommy because you are a wonderful person. The most amazing person I have ever met. So when I learned that, I supposed you were trying to be happy with Brenda. That she made you happy. But when I learned that you killed yourself I knew you weren't and that I had to come back.
He paused again.
Him: And I know by all the people who told me and how guilty you act around me that you fought for us. You didn't even want to live if I wasn't around. I am so sorry Tommy. I have been harsh on you not realizing how painful it must have been being in your situation. I shouldn't have write this letter. That only made things worst.
Thomas: Don't ever apologize for that! Your letter is what kept me alive. This letter was my fuel to go through every day without you. It saved my life Newt.
Then he broke in tears.
Him: I love you Newt. I love you so bloody much.
Newt laughed at the fact that Thomas used his signature expression.
Newt: I love you too Shank.
Thomas chuckled and then felt Newt lips on his.
It was the first time they kissed since almost a year. And Thomas felt like if it was just like yesterday. The same feelings were back again for both of the boys. The warm all over their bodies and the butterflies in their stomachs. Thomas let a few tears coming down his face, tears of joy, tears of comfort. He was finally getting back what he missed since all of those months.
And all of the pain, the loneliness, had finally been worth it. If Thomas could do it all over again he would, without and hesitation.
They shared few kisses then Newt backed away and wiped off Thomas' tears with his tumb.
Thomas:(groaning in protest, doesn't want that moment of joy to end): What are you doing?
Newt stood up.
Him: You will stay here while I will go get us some lunch. And, if I heard correctly to what everyone says here, you will need a huge plate! I will come back I promise. You stay here and rest.
He was about to leave the cabin when Thomas grabbed his arm.
Thomas: Hey you forgot something.
Newt chuckled and rolling his eyes, knowing exactly what Thomas meant by that.
He leaned down to place a kiss on Thomas' lips and then walked away. He could still heard Thomas calling him.
Thomas: Don't go for too long!
Newt chuckled and walked in the sand in the direction of the commune cafeteria.
Not soon after he got out of Thomas' cabin, Minho came to join Newt.
Minho:(a bit worried): How is he doing?
Newt: He is good. Gally threw a good punch at him but I think it will get better in a few days. Besides, it's just his cheek, so that doesn't affect him from doing his job you know.
Minho nodded.
Him: So where are you going now?
Newt: I am going to grab Thomas some lunch since he is in a really bad shape. And honestly, I think I am going to need you to help me telling the exact same lie I did when we were with Gally and Brenda earlier.
Minho was once again confused.
Him: Okay. But why did you lie?
Newt: I didn't really have a choice. Thomas and I really told you the truth because you are our best friend and we know you would believe us even though the craziness of the story. But that's not the case for everyone here. I didn't want them to ask questions. And you know, when people starts talking about time travelling, many have questions and I didn't want to live with that.
Minho: Yeah that's understandable.
Then they arrived to the commune eating cabin and Newt greeted everyone, telling everyone with the help of Minho his story.
When they got to the kitchen, they both asked for the meal on the menu. Frypan was really concentrated on his cooking task so he didn't lift his head up to notice that Newt was there.
Newt: Hey Fry!
Frypan stopped what he was doing. He knew that voice. But that was impossible. His best friend died. He isn't here anymore.
He finally bring himself to lift up his head to see Newt standing on the other side of the kitchen counter. His hair were messier than usual but he was looking healthy. No more dark veins and anger issues.
Frypan dropped his knife on the ground and he immediately went to see his friend on the other side.
Frypan:(shocked, like if he couldn't believe it): Newt..? ...Newt is that you?
Newt gave him a huge bright smile and chuckled.
Him: Of course that's me!
He laughed and hugged Frypan. Frypan hugged him back with tears running down his face.
Frypan:(crying of joy): I have missed you so much Newt!! You have no idea!! I didn't have someone to check on me and give me orders just like it was in the glade.
Newt laughed.
Him: Yeah, well I am back now! So you better prepare yourself.
They broke the hug. Frypan smiled at him.
Frypan: Well I am counting on it.
But then he looked at Minho and Newt confused.
Frypan: But...but how? How come are you alive? I mean you were dead...
Then they explained the whole thing to him too. And then he understood the whole thing.
Frypan smirked at Newt.
Him: So time travel huh? That's so cool! That's hard to believe but you never lied to me so I don't see why you would lie now. That explain why your... well you know...your body wasn't there when we arrived. Thomas was completely destroyed. It was very hard to see him beating himself up like this.
Minho and Newt exchanged a sad look.
Newt cleared his throat.
Newt: Anyways we are here to pick up our lunch. Maybe you can join us later when your shift is done?
Frypan smiled at them
Him: Yeah totally! I would love to!
Frypan gave them their lunchs and they started to walk back to Thomas' cabin.
Newt: I hope Tommy is not mad. I told him I would come back quick.
Minho smirked at him.
Him: Tommy huh? You are back at that stage?
Minho took a minute to realize something. He almost screamed of joy.
Him: Wait....does that mean you guys kissed?????
Newt blushed a bit, just like he was when Thomas and him just started dating in the glade.
Newt: Yes.
Minho jumped of happiness.
Minho:(screaming): WOHOO!!! I finally got my two besties back together!!! My favourite couple!!! I am so proud!!!
Newt rolled his eyes and chuckled.
Him: And when am I going to see my favourite couple happening?
Minho looked at him confused.
Minho: Who is that?
Newt: It's you and Sonya you dumbass!
Minho: How do you know????
Minho stopped himself to think.
Him: Wait...is that one of your time travel thing?
Newt nodded chuckling
Him: Yeah.
Minho: It's that oblivious?
Newt laughed.
Him: Yeah kind of
Minho rolled his eyes in defeat as Newt passes his arm around his best friend shoulders and dragged him closer and closer to Thomas' cabin.
