TW: Mentions of Drugging and Sexual Assault
MIA
What the hell? Mr Smith sexually assaulted a freshman? I need to be away from him. He is an absolute flirt. It floods my mind again with so many bad and distressing memories.
And Oliver is allowed to skip school? Then why is he attending school? Probably because it's my first day at Easton High. Well, if I get as involved in extracurricular activities as he is, maybe even I'd be allowed to skip school, and we could be together. Note to self: Stay away from Mr Smith. Try out for cheer leading and basketball. Then, I'd get to spend a lot more time with him. Why does he have to pick a fight with a teacher on the first day of the new year?
Physics is exceptionally dull and dreary.
Oliver whispers in my ear, "Physics is so riveting." Sarcasm drips from his words. It causes me to giggle rather loudly.
Mr Smith looks towards us and asks us, "Ms Thompson, would you care to share as to what was so funny about what Mr Anderson or I was saying that caused you to giggle?
"We were just talking about how riveting Physics is with you." I reply.
"Is that so? Could you please stand up and summarise everything I have told you in three sentences for the class."
"Well, you were babbling about Kinematics, mainly about the definition of displacement, speed and velocity. You also told us how to draw and interpret displacement-time graphs and. Lastly, you were going to tell us how to use vector addition to add two or more vectors." I state.
"So, you were paying attention, then?"
"Yes, I was and still am, Mr Smith. The same way you were and still are staring at my torso brazenly. Not to forget, you are ogling the other girls as well." I return.
"Woah, someone's feisty today." Oliver whispers.
"May I please sit down now?" I ask.
"Yes, you may." He says.
"I don't want to talk to him after class."
"Okay! I know that we will not get detention even if we go out of the class momentarily." Oliver exclaims happily.
"Well, he deserved it, Oliver." I state as we go out of the class before Oliver can say anything; my voice muffled by the bell.
"I know, Mia! I thought he would have become better after last year's incident." He replies.
"He is such a flirt!". We both exclaim synchronically.
"I was going to say all of the stuff you said after class. But, I am thrilled to see that you've started to stand up for yourself. Especially after what happened with Blake during the start of Year 10." He vocalises.
"Come on, Oliver, you can say that I was almost about to get raped by one of your friends, and then you beat the shit out of him. He got expelled for a year. And, now he is back in school. Honestly, it's not a big deal."
"You've got to be kidding me, Mia. You were about to get raped. You would've lost your virginity. Something that a hell lot of people save for their special someone. How the hell is it not a big deal?" Suddenly, he looks at me wide-eyed and says, "Please say that Blake is not your special someone."
Is he freaking crazy? After what he did to me, how can I even befriend him, let alone like him? He gave me drugs and tried to rape me. All because of one reason. That I did not want to date him or even hook up with him.
That day is etched in my mind distinctly. Even though I was drugged and drunk as hell. I joke about it now. I am over it, but I am not. My parents still do not know. Only three people know about it - Savannah, Oliver and the person who did the deed himself.
The costume party is a hit. Although, for some reason, Oliver was wearing a Batman outfit, and I was wearing a Batwoman one. It looked as though we had coordinated our ensembles when we hadn't. I don't even know how did he get to know about my outfit choice. Then it strikes me. Amy was in the store where we were getting the clothes. I am on cloud nine and have butterflies in my stomach, thinking that he tried to coordinate our outfits.
"Looking good, Mia." Oliver comes and shouts in my ear on top of the music.
"Thank you, Oliver. Quite surprised seeing you in a Batman costume."
"It was the last costume left. Looks a bit ridiculous on me."
"I guess so." So, Amy didn't tell him the outfit I was wearing, and he did not try to secretly coordinate our outfits.
"Let's dance. You've got some really sic moves, Mia." Oliver says.
"Okay. But, change the song, please."
"Which one?"
"One Kiss by Dua Lipa."
"Okay."
"C'mon." He returns after changing the song.
"Let's go."
We dance the night away, and Blake stumbles in; after the music has stopped. "Woah, Mia, I didn't know you were coming."
"Why not?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know. Just thought so." He replies, shrugging.
"Give your non - existent brain a break, Blake." I answer.
"Okay, Miss Feisty. Guys, let's play Truth, Dare or Kiss." He says.
"Yay." Everyone literally howls.
"I was only talking to the people who are below 18. The one's above
18 can play with their peers." More than half of the room bursts into Boos; since it's much more enjoyable playing Truth, Dare or Kiss with your people younger than you.
"Let's do this, Mia." Blake and Oliver say in unison.
"Okay."
We have a lot of fun playing the game. I got asked two questions-
"Would you ever go out on a date with me or hook up with me?" Blake asked this question. I answered this question in the negative, soberly.
"Have a shot of vodka, neat." Some girl gave the dare to me. I have it and start to feel really dizzy.
Oliver gets asked three questions -
"How many girls have you made love to?" Surprisingly, the answer was none. Well, it made sense since Oliver has never had a girlfriend and was just hooking up.
"Have you ever fallen in love?"
"Yes. End of Year 9." I wonder who it is or was. I am hoping it was not Madison.
"Who did you fall in love with?"
He didn't tell that. Instead, he kissed Blake. I was thrilled that he didn't have to kiss Savannah or Amy.
"I am tired now." I say, yawning into my hand.
"Me too. Let's go to sleep. Mia, you sleeping with me?" Oliver says.
"What?! You guys are hooking up?" Savannah and Amy shout in unison.
"No. Oliver and I are not hooking up. I told you this morning as well."
"Okay. Thank God." Savannah sighs in relief.
"As for you, Oliver, I am not going to be sleeping with you. You snore a lot. I think I'll get my own room."
"I do not snore, Mia. Here take my shirt. You can take Noah's room. I'll take someone else's."
"I know that. I just enjoy pulling your leg. Thank you for the shirt. Fine, I'll take Noah's room."
"Ugh. Fine. Good Night."
"Good Night."
The rest of the frat house was drunk and sprawled either on the floor or on the beds - their own or someone else's.
I find a room and start changing my clothes. Suddenly, I see nothing but black. I am being pushed by somebody onto the bed.
"So, you don't wanna go on a date with me, huh?" I hear Blake's voice. He says, pulling my dress off.
"Wh-what did you give me to drink?"
"Punch spiked with one pill of benzo."
"What are you gonna do?"
"I am gonna make love to you."
"No. No, you are going to rape me."
"No. I am going to make love to you. I have wanted to ask you out ever since I saw you in Miami."
Somehow, I gather up every ounce of my strength that is somehow still there in my body and shout. "OLLIE."
"Who did you call out for? There is no one named as Ollie in the entire frat house."
"What happened, Mia? What the hell, Blake? What did you do to her?" Oliver shouts at the top of his lungs. He covers me with a blanket.
"Oliver." I barely whisper.
"Shh. I am here with you. SAVANNAH AND AMY COME TO NOAH'S ROOM RIGHT NOW." He shouts the latter part rather loudly.
"What happened, Oliver? Why are you shouting? What did you do to her, Blake? Answer me." Savannah asks, gasping as she looks at me, partially blacked out and sprawled on the bed.
"What the hell did you do to her, Blake? I have asked you twice already. I am not going to ask one more time. FUCKING ANSWER ME!" He punches him in the eye.
"I....." Blake says something as I black out completely. I can't hear him anymore.
I snap out of my trance as I see Oliver staring at me wide-eyed and realise that we have only five minutes for Math class.
