FRANCIS FOREVER        //          MITSKI

THE JEDI CANNOT LOVE. They are not allowed to. The code doesn't permit it, and whatever the code states the Jedi must follow. The Jedi would never allow an attachment to form, and that was a rule Eisha was having a harder, and harder time with lately.

Whilst she wasn't well rehearsed within both the Order's ideals, as well as love alone. It was also something she found herself dwelling on far too much.

Love had never struck Eisha as an issue; not before learning of the Jedi's stance on it all. She remembered being told to love wholeheartedly, and in a way, Master Plo confirmed her beliefs there. but love that could cause loss? Cause passion? Suddenly, that wasn't allowed — and, constituted an issue for the Council.

Though whilst she constantly questioned her right to love, to be attached: what was love to Eisha Ree?

And, then would come the images: the memories, the people. But, they weren't what she meant; she meant something deeper, something that ran through her soul, that didn't attempt to complete her as unsolved but stand beside her as a whole.

Only one person would flash in her mind then.

He had beautiful eyes. The type you could get lost in; the type Eisha desired to be fluent in. Whilst fluency in the depths of honey hues had yet to come to her, she truly felt herself grow lost in such pools of gold — losing herself in mere rich glances and more.

She saw sunsets and life; holding specks of stolen sunlight. With a gaze she'd eagerly meet, unwavering as the brown of earth's unfettered beauty stared back. Of the dancing green that often dared to flicker and grow: roots and vines wrapping around her gaze, capturing her eyes, her heart, and never letting go. He had eyes that she yearned to memorise and memorise them she did. Belonging in his gaze, the same way he belonged in hers. Eyes that never held one without the other; for they would be painfully incomplete. Eyes that built her up, that freckled green amongst gold encouraging the life in her; the growth.

Eisha wanted to pluck the dead flowers wilting in his heart, to take away the despaired man she first met; a man enraged, wallowed behind the dying garden inside the confinements of his heart. She had taken it away, planting lovely lilacs and regal roses to cover his soul; to fill his heart, to give him all the happiness someone as beautiful as he deserved.

Forevermore she would look at him, the way he needed to be looked at. Like the whole world could crumble, and she wouldn't blink.

And that only made it far more evident to Eisha; because she was thinking about him a little too often to be mere friends. But with arms encasing her that carefully: how could she not feel she was home? That she had found something greater than an attachment, something she still had yet to declare.

Because two souls don't find each other by simple accident.

Let alone twice.

Sliding down the pillar, Eisha clutched her head tight; sighing deeply as her mind ran rampant with thoughts of a golden-eyed boy; rivalling any hearth the sky could imagine creating. Drawing her knees to her head, her eyes softly shut; wandering the contents of her mind as she watered her thoughts, planting blooming flowers in her space for Blaidd.

Until a deep cough interrupted her.

Squinting up, she let her head instantly drop back at the awkward smile he sent, "What do you want?"

Gulping, he released a pained laugh as she cocked her head with a blank stare. Shuffling on his feet, he glanced back at the empty Council room, "Can we talk?"

"If it's to pass on any more of your bullshit knowledge again, Ani. I'd really rather not." Snarking, she sent a sweetly sarcastic smile to her friend, "My tolerance for 'Anakin's-bullshit' is at an all-time low, at the moment."

Sitting beside her, he fought back a laugh and instead smiled, "It's not. I promise."

Nodding, she waited for him to continue. Violet hues observing him cautiously, she held her defences up as she waited.

"I was wrong," Sighing, he moved to fiddle with something in his pocket. Eisha just made out the circular shape outlined before he continued, "I was wrong, and you were right."

"Well," She shrugged. "That always used to be the way things went."

His gaze softened — he really had missed her, "I let my feelings get in the way, and I wasn't thinking about what was best for you." She kept her gaze forward as he spoke, "For that, I'm sorry. But, you need to see it from my view, Eish." He sighed heavily, " I woke up one day, and you were just—gone."

"I'm sorry, Ani." She hugged her arms tight to her body, "But, I never chose to leave — you know that."

Meeting her gaze, he nodded, "Obi-Wan told me. I'm sorry for your loss, Eisha."

"Yeah, well." Scoffing, she snarked, "Good riddance, innit?"

"You don't mean that."

Glancing away, she pulled her knees to her chest and rested her chin on top of them, "I wish I did."

Noticing her sombre tone, he playfully nudged her side with a smirk, "So, are you going to tell me what's going on with you and your Commander?"

Turning to him, she hid her smile as he wiggled his brows suggestively, "Are you going to tell me what's going on with you and the Senator of Naboo?" Budging his shoulder playfully, he gaped at her as she laughed, "Didn't think I noticed that, huh?"

"How did you—?"

"You've always been a shitty liar." She smirked, "With the way you were acting on that mission, I can't believe Obi-Wan and Ahsoka haven't figured it out yet." Gnawing on her inner cheek, she fought back the urge to smack him upside the head for his words back on Naboo, "Why haven't you told them?"

"I told you, Eish. It's forbidden—"

Groaning, she cut him off, "Fine, it's forbidden. But, it's happened now hasn't it?" She sent him a pointed stare, "Besides, he probably already knows. Where's the harm in it?"

"Where's the harm in it?" He sent her an incredulous look, as he whispered, "I would be banished from the Order — that's the harm in it!"

"Should you really let them decide how to live your life?" Resting her cheek in her hand, she rolled her eyes, "I mean, look at us. We're fighting and dying for a Republic — for an Order — that won't even let us love freely."

"The Council doesn't approve—"

"Who cares? Life's too short to spend it hiding, and denying your feelings."

Anakin sighed, "You've been gone for too long, Snowy. It's different for me. The Order is my life."

"I'm the first person you've told, aren't I?" Eyeing him sympathetically, he gave a defeated nod in return, "Is this really the way you want to live, Ani? A life of secrecy?"

"It's the life I've been living since forever," Reaching into his pocket, the young Jedi Knight pulled the golden band out as he displayed the wedding ring to her. "I married her."

Eisha stared at the small piece of jewellery that held so much sentiment — so much meaning, "How can you live like that? Why don't you just leave?"

"I can't leave them behind." Eisha knew who he thought of, "The same way I know you can't." He had a point. Plo and her Pack flashed through her mind, "So," He forced a smirk as he pushed down his previous vulnerability, "That Commander, then?"

"Really?"

"Ah, ah." He waved his finger, "I told you, it's only fair that you do the same now."

"What're you, five?" That nine-year-old boy from Tatooine flashed through her mind again.

"It's the rules!" Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, he ruffled her curls with his other hand and she swatted him away, "Now, tell me."

"Fine! Fine, get off!" Laughing at his antics, he grinned at her. "There's not even anything to tell."

"I disagree," He shook his head lightly. "You should see the way he looks at you."

"What do you mean?"

"It's like you put the stars in the sky," Noticing the soft expression she wore, he teased. "Ooo, you like-like him, don't you?"

"At what age, do we stop using like-like?" She stared blankly, "Grow up, Ani."

"Okay," He smirked, "You lov—"

Slapping a hand over his mouth, she glared, "It's not like that!"

Picking her hand off, he laughed, "I'm just teasing you." Playfully shoving her off, he rolled his eyes, "I'm sorry for making fun of your crush."

She crossed her arms, "Tough words coming from a married man."

"Yeah, well." Standing, he offered a hand to her. Pulling her up as she took it, he messed up her curls one last time, "Another time maybe."

"I'm not going to send you updates."

"I fully expect to get an update — I'll have you know." Nudging her side, before he paused with a small smile, "Hey, Eish?"

"Hmm?"

"We're good, right?"

Watching her closely, she offered a genuine smile at his hesitance, "Of course, we are." Scrunching her nose, she glanced up at him, "Oh, and Ani?"

"Yeah?"

She grinned, "Congratulations on your marriage."

"Thank you. You don't know how much that means to me." Ruffling her curls, he smiled gently. "I missed you, Snowy."

"I missed you too, Ani."
